PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by chidexy(m): 9:56am On May 16, 2017
Good morning Folks,

Can someone help me out with information on the current cost of a bag of white Cement (Gypsum) and a kg of Fibre (wool sponge used in POP ceiling making) around the South East?

Also, how many bags of the white cement and kg of wool would be required (just a guesstimate) to cover an area of 120 sq meters

Thanks

That was a valid goal by the Tunisians. The ball hadn't even touched the line. The referee saved Nigeria. Our defence went to sleep

9 dinamo zaagreb players in the croatian team. A very good advantage for them.
10 not 9. That's why they are a very compact team aside the obvious superior individual skills

Watching these boys play is a pain in the eyes. Maybe I am expecting the 2013 standard of play from them. I don't see this team going beyond quarterfinals

Tomorrow we'll be complaining about the Indians and the manner with which they treat Nigerian employees.

They want oil concessions on their own terms, which isn't in our interest and we are here lampooning our govt officials for not agreeing to such terms.

Mind you, through this period we've had OBJ, Lukman and Deziani as petroleum ministers and none deemed it fit to sign the agreement. That tells you that the terms of agreement isn't to Nigeria's interest

Just after Waterside, at the foot the hill, if you're heading towardd Wilcox Memorial Secondary school (my school back then wink) or NTA Aba from East road.
The building still stands and nothing has changed structure wise since the last time you saw it. That's one of the so called "abandoned" properties that the governor intends renovating. Methinks the building (Enyimba hotel) as well as the that 7 storey behemoth on Faulks road on the way to Ariaria market should be brought down and something else should arise from their ashes. I doubt if they are still sound structurally

Mostly the nose is cut to fill the doll with water or sand. The best way to upset a sister then was to hide her doll under the mattress
EducationRe: If You Can Pronounce This Whole Poem, You Speak English Better Than 90% Of Us by chidexy(m): 3:57pm On Jul 05, 2015
Great poem. If one is able to pronounce correctly all the words, then one should be fine with spoken English. I had to use online dictionaries to get the exact pronunciation of some of the words that we generally mispronounce in Nigeria. Thanks @OP

alexasomba:
The poem below is a condensed version of 'The Chaos' by Gerard Nolst Trenité , written in 1922.
It features a ridiculous number of words that are difficult to pronounce, so don't feel bad if you have to refer to a dictionary. I certainly did!

If you fancy yourself something of a professional linguist, then this challenge is for you. English is notoriously difficult to learn, as the language has so many exceptions to the rules. Even for a native English speaker, this poem presents quite a few challenges! Check it out and see how you fare. If you can pronounce all of the words, you speak English better than 90% of the population.

Here we go!

Dearest creature in creation,
Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse.
I will keep you, Suzy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye, your dress will tear.
So shall I! Oh hear my prayer.

Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written.)
Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as plaque and ague.
But be careful how you speak:
Say break and steak, but bleak and streak;
Cloven, oven, how and low,
Script, receipt, show, poem, and toe.

Hear me say, devoid of trickery,
Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore,
Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles,
Exiles, similes, and reviles;
Scholar, vicar, and cigar,
Solar, mica, war and far;
One, anemone, Balmoral,
Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;
Gertrude, German, wind and mind,
Scene, Melpomene, mankind.

Billet does not rhyme with ballet,
Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet.
Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would.
Viscous, viscount, load and broad,
Toward, to forward, to reward.
And your pronunciation's OK
When you correctly say croquet,
Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve,
Friend and fiend, alive and live.

Ivy, privy, famous; clamour
And enamour rhyme with hammer.
River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,
Doll and roll and some and home.
Stranger does not rhyme with anger,
Neither does devour with clangour.
Souls but foul, haunt but aunt,
Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant,
Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger,
And then singer, ginger, linger,
Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge,
Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age.

Query does not rhyme with very,
Nor does fury sound like bury.
Dost, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth.
Job, nob, bosom, transom, oath.
Though the differences seem little,
We say actual but victual.
Refer does not rhyme with deafer.
Foeffer does, and zephyr, heifer.
Mint, pint, senate and sedate;
Dull, bull, and George ate late.
Scenic, Arabic, Pacific,
Science, conscience, scientific.

Liberty, library, heave and heaven,
Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven.
We say hallowed, but allowed,
People, leopard, towed, but vowed.
Mark the differences, moreover,
Between mover, cover, clover;
Leeches, breeches, wise, precise,
Chalice, but police and lice;
Camel, constable, unstable,
Principle, disciple, label.

Petal, panel, and canal,
Wait, surprise, plait, promise, pal.
Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, chair,
Senator, spectator, mayor.
Tour, but our and succour, four.
Gas, alas, and Arkansas.
Sea, idea, Korea, area,
Psalm, Maria, but malaria.
Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean.
Doctrine, turpentine, marine.

Compare alien with Italian,
Dandelion and battalion.
Sally with ally, yea, ye,
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key.
Say aver, but ever, fever,
Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver.
Heron, granary, canary.
Crevice and device and aerie.

Face, but preface, not efface.
Phlegm, phlegmatic, ass, glass, bass.
Large, but target, gin, give, verging,
Ought, out, joust and scour, scourging.
Ear, but earn and wear and tear
Do not rhyme with here but ere.
Seven is right, but so is even,
Hyphen, roughen, nephew Stephen,
Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk,
Ask, grasp, wasp, and cork and work.

Pronunciation -- think of Psyche!
Is a paling stout and spikey?
Won't it make you lose your wits,
Writing groats and saying grits?
It's a dark abyss or tunnel:
Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale,
Islington and Isle of Wight,
Housewife, verdict and indict.

Finally, which rhymes with enough --
Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?
Hiccough has the sound of cup.
My advice is to give up!!!

Folks, relax, we are winning this. Yesterday, Colombia outplayed USA in all ramifications but USA won even with 10 men. I will never forget that match.

Germany would cool down soon and we would win. If they score us first, then, they are in serious trouble because we would not only equalize but beat the poo out of them after which we crucify them and make sure they never pray to meet us again even in the senior level.
Do you really believe what you are saying or just trying to talk yourself out of accepting the obvious? There's no link between Awoniyi and the defence. Not to talk of their players being technically better set up than our team
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Germany: U20 World Cup (0 - 1) On 11th June 2015 by chidexy(m): 8:56am On Jun 11, 2015
Look at the gaping hole in our midfield, where Yahaya and Ihenacho would have comfortably covered. We should just forget this game and tournament. Manu Garba has messed everything up with his selections
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Germany: U20 World Cup (0 - 1) On 11th June 2015 by chidexy(m): 8:43am On Jun 11, 2015
The German coach is technically better than Manu Garba. He set his players high and we are not able to get out of our own half. He should have used a very mobile team, the very set up he used against Brazil. If we concede first, then we can forget coming back, as they'll choke the midfield area and further restrict our boys
PoliticsRe: Anger In Military Over Amnesty Report by chidexy(m): 8:20am On Jun 08, 2015
Amnesty International Nigeria is under the thumb of OBJ and he influences their reports about the country and it's military. He told Buhari before his inauguration to make sure he "repositions" the military that was their constituency. So this report is to help him purge the military of those that OBJ has an axe to grind

Maybe the coach is blaming the 3 guys he benched for the loss against Brazil or he's trying to pass on a message to the NFF people for imposing them on him
