I dont think you need a degree for age care, it has to do with taking care of old people basically, I hear the pay is very decent in oz for aged care, though it not a career path, but its something one can do while trying to get into your profession. Based on what I've been told and to concur with what @tyosho said, some guys when they get to OZ do not necessarily continue in their profession immediately, they take courses, write exams and heck even go back to school. A former colleague's wife who studied accounting in naija is considering going back to study nursing, the main thing is to keep an open mind. I really must appreciate all the guys who keep coming back here after getting their grants and even moving to oz, cheers.

You musn't provide tax, payslips slips shouls suffice, and for vetassess it is very important for your occupation to be closely related with what you studied. You can check the SOL?CSOL list to be sure that what you want to apply for is closely related with what you studied and what you are currently practicing.

You may have a point. The last IELTS I sat for, a woman was my interviewer. One of the questions I was asked was if men make better leaders than women.In a bid to align with the bro code , I answered "yes of course" and proceeded to explain why. She immediately started shaking her head in disapproval which temporarily took me off balance and I started stammering. Don't know if that affected my score but I got 7 instead of my targeted 8 in Speaking.
So IELTS can be subjective. I have done PTE and can recommend it to anyone

Should I use estate surveyor and valuer which is what we are called in Nigeria as the job title or estate valuer as the job title in my reference letter? I went to their embassy in Abuja to find out how we can get a PCC for her, they said she must travel down, even after explaining to them that she currently has a 2-month old baby on her hand.

Is there any alternative for this kind of PCC?.........we have both already obtained for Nigeria from Alagbon. Plus am already preparing application for mine from the UK, where I also studied.

Going to Sudan is far from being an option o, aside from the financial implications (like 400K), the Journey will be too demanding for her and my kid.

Can't you reach them via the Internet? And see what they have to say.

I'm really happy for you despite the many many requests. Do you mind sharing some if not all of the documents they kept requesting apart from the ones you initially submitted?

I submitted the following;

Transcripts (This was sent a week before I applied by DHL and was delivered) by the 8th week I had not heard from Vetassess, I called and they said they didn't have my transcript, I told them the receiver name, they finally checked and found it, this was the first delay.

Employment and promotion letters
payslips
statement of service

They got back to me by the 10th week and said they needed more evidence but were not specific, they said they needed more evidence for my employment and I asked them to be specific, they said I should send whatever I have and they will let me know if it is satisfactory, I was given till January 4th to provide the documents, I asked for more time and was given.

I submitted, Tax clearance, audited financial statements, letter from the professional body and my complimentary card. It wasn't easy, but I'm grateful to God oh.

Got a negative outcome from VETASSESS this morning.

Qualification was positive but Employment was termed negative n not closely aligned with Agricultural scientist..but to Agricultural consultant.

Hoping to get a positive feedback after a reassessment by changing nominated occupation.

Anyone have an idea of how long reassessment takes?

You should have used advisory, I used advisory, though I know that service is no longer available

My advice bro, dont claim work experience points in your EOI.... You must have submitted by now, but go and edit it and make all your work experience NOT RELEVANT. reason be say, DIBP SABI WASTE TIME verifying work experience o. If you submit without work experience, your grant can land in 2, 3 weeks... with work experience, na months o, especially if you fall into the hands of those niggas at GSM Brisbane...

65 Points will get you invited as a Valuer in the next round on Feb 1st... dont complicate tinz with work experience.. cheers

I haven't been here in a long time, been too depressed to check, I submitted my application to vetassess on 10 October 2016, and since then, it has been one request after the other, at a point I just said, whatever abeg, I no do again. There's nothing vetassess did not ask for.

I am happy to say that I got my positive outcome today, I am so excited. Can't wait to proceed with EOI.

By my calculations;

Age - 30 points
English - 20 points
Experience - 5 points
Education - 15 points
Total - 70 points

Hi guys, while I'm still waiting for my assessment outcome from vetassess, I just felt the need to drop this hint here. I've been following up with vetassess since I submitted my application, I used the advisory service, even though using it is not a guarantee that you will get a response before the stipulated 12 weeks, it does happen for some.

My transcript was sent and got to Vetassess almost 2 weeks before I submitted my application, it was sent via UPS the vetassess staff who signed for it was on the delivery confirmation I received. About 2 weeks later I submitted my application, feeling like it should be fast since I used advisory and they have my transcript. I even mailed them to confirm that they have everything and I got a response that they did. Since then I have called vetassess twice and I get the generic "it may take up to 12 weeks response " ...in my mind I'm doing this so that maybe someone will work on it faster. We're in the 6th week now, so imagine my surprise when I called to "mark attendance" and this nice lady tells me that she just checked my profile and that my school has not sent my transcript, I told her that wasn't possible, she said it wasn't there,then i told her who received. She told me to hold on , after a few mins she comes back to inform me that it was received and that because it came in before I submitted my application it was not refrenced and is not attached to my application, she promised to send it to my assessor, I was shocked cos these guys confirmed to me that they had everything.

I belive this could be a reason why mine is taking a while, cos the assessor might just check and if the docs aren't complete, they might just move on.

Anyways me I will call on Monday again to confirm, so guys if you submit your assessment to Vetassess ensure you confirm that they have everything.

for introduction, Im a medical doctor who graduated from University of Nigeria January 2015, worked in a hospital roughly about 2years, set to go to NYSC by next month, though Im willing to leave it if good comes up due to the harsh economic circumstances I may not want to work in Nigeria.

My question is this house, I ve carefully gone through the Skilled Occupation List SOL, I know that for me to practice as a doctor in aussie, I have to write the Australian medical board exams but I cant write the exam anywhere in Africa hence I would love to move to australia to obtain a PR with another job then while on it I write my Australian medical board exams which I will surely ace by God's grace. I will be writing both IELTS and PTE soon and I hope to meet the required 60 points with or without sate sponsorship

The problem I have now is that I couldnt find the best job suitable for my line of profession being a doctor. However I found

Residents of Australia is there any other of the skilled occupation list Im qualified for with Nigerian medical bachelors so I can get PR and work easily over there for the time being till I write the Australian medical board exams.

My relative moved to Australia last year, he's a Doctor, now working in a hospital over there. He said it's almost impossible to be assessed as a Doctor, because you are required to pass two exams, one can be written in the UK or Australua and the other is in Australia and you must also have at least one year work experience in Australia, these can be waived if you have written the exam in UK and have practiced there for at least a year.

His wife was the one who applied so they got PR through her own occupation, he got there wrote the exams and is now working as a doctor in a hospital. So it's difficult for Doctors. I don't know any other way.

You could do Masters though, if you have the funds and get a job after.

Vetassess Officially open Skill assessment support this morning but they broke the service into two. The first service is document checking service and cost AUD 110 while the second is consultation on selected occupation which cost AUD 220.

Vetassess issues is becoming much more difficult by the day.

Vetasses just did a split of their normal advisory services to make more money, the previous advisory service would check your documents and chosen occupation for 110 AUD. Now Document checking ; this will check documents alone for 110. Consultation: Consultation on occupation, they even said you should not send them any document for the consult and it's 220 AUD.

The only difference between other services and the former advisory is the fact that you get to talk on the phone with them, in the previous service, you are required to ask them all type of questions for both occupation and documents and they'd respond...na money dem dey look for.

PTE-A Writing. I gat small headache about one thing. My typing speed is not fast o.. I have to look at the keyboard while typing. in short, I can write about two to three times faster than I can type...

how big a problem is this? How fast do I need to be? can someone with average typing speed still do well?

Hi Bnimz; like I have said in the past visit practicepte.com and practice the PTE with a 2 free mock exams on the site.

Some tips that helped me.

* Be confident and sound confident, i.e try not to be tensed, it will come out in your speech. Sit up straight, don't slouch.
*You need to be audible, I was lucky to be the only one in the room so I spoke out loud.
*There are part of the exam where you have to read something or repeat what has been said, there's a countdown to when the recorded will open for you to speak. I would usually repeat the sentence or read it out before I am required to, this way, I am already conversant eith the words and you won hear 'er'.
You will be asked to interpret graphs and charts; do your best to say all that you see. for example I had one where the graph was on rainfall and I started like this; "The graph shows the distribution of rainfall in XYZ, from 2002 to 2008 with January and December having the highest rainfall while March and April experienced low rainfall" ...you need to identify key points.
*It also helps to listen and take notes, you may be asked to summarize a lecture or interview that will be played only once; ensure you're taking notes of key points and don't try to write down everything cos then you may may miss out on important points.
*When writing your essay; Start with an introduction; possibly give statistics (If you are familiar with the topic). Argue for both sides and choose a side in your conclusion.
*Check your spellings and grammar (Carefully read what you have typed; sometimes you may need to read twice before you even see that you typed Wdnesday and not Wednesday).
I can go on and on; but the key thing is to listen-very important , take down important points, try to relax,pronounce the words correctly and be audible.

Oh and lastly; it does help if you can type fast, I also look at my keyboard, but I'm quite fast and only look up to review what I have typed when I'm done. I read somewhere that they don't care if you use British or American spellings i.e realise and realize

Omo I went to like 5 banks and this moneygram thing wasn't working, Diamond said I must come by 8 a.m as the window closes by 8:04 and that they have a quotation which the entire branches I Nigeria try to fill within those 4 mins. Some other bank no longer do moneygram. My only other option was to use my first bank and pay the USD equivalent of 760 AUD which is about 580 USD and about 270k in Naira. I finally found a relative who didn't need naira but just helped and paid for me while I sent 760 AUD at N270 per AUD to her. Wonder how I will pay for the Visa when I get to that stage.

Assessment paid and submitted to Vetassess...now my watch has begun.
