People should actually think before they reply. You think people actually choose to travel by night? Especially with the insecurity? Just try travelling from Enugu to Sokoto or there about and tell me if u won't journey through the night, no matter the time you leave your house. And then, not everyone can afford flight. So I don't blame them. You shouldn't too.

Your anger shouldn't be channelled towards the travellers please. Its a risk they had to take, I guess.
dnt mind them.

He was right wt his reply bt my reply to hm means another thing whch an average igbo cn understand easily.
The guy speaks and undertand igbo bt a situation like this cn confuse non igbos. I dnt knw if hausas have smtin like that in their language.
CultureRe: Between Igbo And Hausa Which Is Easier To Learn? by chidyke77(m): 6:06pm On Jul 31, 2011
Digriz:
Igbo is more difficult than hausa to learn bt u cn learn it easily if u live in SE. The rizn why it is always difficult for other tribes to learn and speak it fluently is because of the short form  of some words when speaking it Example:
Kedu ebe ina aga- kee ebe ina aga or kee ebe ina eje(meaning where are u going. U cn notice that (kedu) hv bn minimized to (kee).
Igbos also make use of different slang when speaking(mainly in the cities outside their villages) and that is where other tribes normally finds it difficult coz new slang words are bn formed daily. A non igbo wl find it a little bit hard understanding igbo in a place like Lagos because of so many igbo dialects spoken there and that makes it even harder.
If u wnt to learn igbo fluently, u hv to be in their locality where the same dialect is bn spoken and more advantage if it is a central igbo speaking area.
i agree wt on that slang thing because i used to find it hard understanding some of the newly formed slang bt as an igbo person,i usually read the meaning thru the sentence and the purpose.

He said that hs deceased friend gave hm d money after hs discusion wt hm on d phone concerning the business and d payment was made into hs account number in excess of 100k coz he requested 1.2m and hs friend did tel hm wen to pay bak. He said that d guy was into drug biz and their friendship started wen d met in europe couple of years bak and he (my neighbour) was d one dat haboured hm wen he had a police case and also provided d logistic that made hm to excape d penalty coz he(my neighbour) cn speak German well.
He said that he introduced hs wife to d deceased wen he visited them and later told her hs relationship wt hm(the deceased).
He's bn preasurise to withhold d money by hs wife and in laws, their reasons was that d guy didnt requested for refund and that the money was a gift for good old days. Secondly, he might get hmself into trouble wt d deceased family.

culled from "The Guardian " June 19 Edition.

The post-war era witnessed many successes especially amongst Igbo business men who despite the trauma and losses still managed to build large enterprises relying on self-help. Chief Augustine Ilodibe was easily Nigeria's biggest transporter with his Ekene Dili Chukwu transport business. There were others that built large scale contracting and construction enterprises such as Chief R.O. Nkwocha, Chief D.O Nkwonta and Chief F.G.N Okoye, all from Enugwu-Ukwu. Others thrived in industry and real estate such as Chief John Anyaehie, Chief Nnana Kalu, Chief Ferdinand Anaghara, Sir Louis Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Chief Onwuka Kalu. Those that focused on commerce (import and export) thrived as well, such as Chief G.E Chikeluba and his partners at the GMO Group. Unfortunately, most of these worthy pioneering Igbo sons have all passed on and the estates and business empires they left behind have also crumpled. Ndigbo should learn their lessons from some of these experiences. The world over, many businesses which began as family businesses such as Ford, Daimler Benz etc have since become publicly owned enterprises. When new shareholders and investors are allowed to come in, they bring in new ideas and capital thus enhancing further the chances of survival.

Most Igbo-owned businesses perpetually battle with succession planning. The practice is usually to transfer control to the eldest male child who may be the least competent. The other siblings are sidelined and this results in mismanagement and eventual demise of these businesses. My view is that day to day management does not necessarily have to reside in the hands of family members. If Igbo businesses are to survive in the long term, it is important that such businesses look outside the family and hire professionals to run the business. The polygamous lifestyles lived by the patriarchs also compound the problem. In cases of sudden death, the tendency is always for each surviving wife and her children to go after any part of the late patriarch's business they could access.
tnk u so much for ths,one of them u mentioned above is my kinsmen and that was d truth.

Idemili dialect rocks, unlike other dialect It is not heavy, every sentence and word is reduced to it shortest form.
Gwara(told) becomes gwa, Gi(you) is reduced to 'i making G silent,ha is replaced by a lighter fa,akwukwo(school/book) become a'kwo ,ngwangwa(early/fast) becomes ngwa.
A gwa i na fa jebe a'kwo ngwa: i told you that they went to school early.
i think Onitsha,Idemili and  Anaocha LGA speaks d best dialect that evry other igbos cn undastand. Bt i enjoy these people dialects Awka,Oyi,Njikoka and Owerri.

My fiancee almost embarrassed me yesday in d the presense of my friends. We dnt live together bt she normally visits on wkends and she smtimes cook varieties of food that may serve me all thru the week most especially soup and local stew(ofe akwu) which is my favourite type of stew.
Am nt a bad cooker anyway bt i dnt hv that time doing all those stuff like buying cocoyam, palm nuts and other ingredients for preparing those foods,it makes me looks like a stingy man who doesn't wnt her wife to cheat him or a man that is bn controlled by his woman.
It happens that she visited yestday and i asked her to prepare a delicious bitter leaf soup for me and my friends wt every ingredients meat, stockfish, driedfish just to make it rich. I gave her enuf money for those stuffs and she smiled and assured me that she's going to prepare it well.
I later come bk salivating and hoping that the food is ready coz we avoided eating anytin frm where we hv gone hoping to eat a well prepared soup whch is one of our favourites for any Anambra man. I called her to bring the meal dat we are around bt she answered that the food is nt yet done dat it remains a little.
I waited for more ten minutes yet she's still there,i then went to d kitchen and discovered that she's has messed the whole soup up. Mere looking at d soup wld tel u dat its nt cooked well because the oil was seperate frm the water and d bitterleaf was very bitter, I wnted to scold her bt doesn't wnt my friends to hear my voice.
I finally, left her to join my friends shouting to her frm the sitting room that,i gave her money on time to prepare ths soup bt she's just nt ready yet.I then ask my friends that we should nt continue waitn for her to finish d cooking cuz she stil has a long way to go in d cookn, that we shuld find a nearest restaurant  since we are very hungry. I was apologizin to them and was stil raising my voice to my fiancee for disappointn my guest.
Wen i returned aftaward, she was begging me to forgive her that she doesn't knw hw to cook bitter leaf soup, that she asked the women that sold d bitter leaf to her to direct her hw to cook it.
Bt why didn't u tel me dat u dnt knw hw to cook it,i asked. She continue saying sorry and i 4gv her.

These women might look attractive to you because of their status bt such women normally ends up marrying a pauper. I cn noticed she's in d south east and igbo men doesn't play wt respect frm their wife thats why many of them would prefer to settle down wt a younger women that would b submissive to them and wld prefer to be d breadwinner of d family instead of her.
So,i dnt see the possibility of her getting d man of her choice here rather she wld b more attractive to gold diggers. The best advice for her is that she shuld change her lifestyle and be humble and also be living a simple life if she really wnts to get the man of her dream.
Her age is ok for me in marriage bt i cn neva marry such a woman because she wl never believe u married her for love bt for her status and they cn hide their true color at the very earlier stage and then show u d stuf they are made of wen the kids start coming and by that stage they wld be ready for anytin even a divorce threatening wl nt scare them anymore.

When are we going to stop all these crap that has eaten too deep into our lives so badly. The point here is that I think we all have to exercise restraints in our thought and haste to always want to claim some sort of connection to every successful person, even when it is obvious they arent Nigerians. Some have even claimed here on NL that Obama is Ibo, and his wife Michelle, from some goddamn clan in Ibo land. This should teach us all to be a little more introspective, to be just a little less arrogant about what we think we know. To have just a little critical awareness about ourselves and our certainties. Because a huge percentage of the stuff that we tend to be automatically certain of is, it turns out, totally wrong and deluded.

NEYO is not Nigerian. And lets be honest with ourselves, he is way better and more refined to be Ibo, Fact! Lets cut out this childish crap and face reality.

The issue of destiny is beyond our imagination bt as a xtian,i believe that there is destiny bt d other part of me never believe in destiny. The supreme God cn neva be partial by giving others a good destiny and at d same time not blessing others wt a good one.
I wl conclude by saying that evry human being is destined to be great bt many due to omission or commission might nt reach dat greatness.  Some are caused by our own fault while others are hindered by wicked people and majority is karma(curses on their family) either direct or indirect.
So,i believe in destiny bt luck governs destiny.
