[quote author=ElevationD post=129996933]Not just the boy did he surprise. He surprised the whole of Corona schools. That was a massive and unforgettable deed. A lasting impression in the heart of the boy and other children; an encouragement to the school. That was one dream come through for the child.

By the way, Corona since 1955, is one of the oldest private schools in Nigeria.

Thank you Mr. Peter Obi.- Very true, I am a proud product of Corona....hmm the good old days. Heron House Class of 1990.

Politics / Re: Peter Obi Celebrates CKC Onitsha For Winning WAC In Denver by Chiefwandungu(m): 2:53pm On Apr 29
NEWSCENTER:
In my usual desire of celebrating outstanding Nigerians, especially the youths, who are blazing the trail in different areas of endeavours, yesterday I paid a courtesy visit to the students of Christ the King College, Onitsha to celebrate with them for emerging winner at the prestigious World Affairs Challenge 2024 (WAC) organised by World Denver.

Having earlier celebrated them on the media for defeating other teams around the world, I was happy to physically identify with them today. By this victory, they have once again brought honour to our nation Education, as I have consistently maintained, is the most critical investment any nation can make in the people. Any committed government will not only prioritize education, but aggressively invest in it.

In encouraging the students, I reminded them that the future of the New Nigeria is anchored on the productivity of Nigerian youths. They must, therefore, take their education very seriously, and continue to develop themselves to contribute positively to the nation.

I sincerely thank the Proprietor, Principal, Management and Staff of the College, for maintaining the high standard of education among the students, both in learning and character.

Our commitment in the New Nigeria is to build a nation where every youth is empowered to achieve their dreams and contribute to national development.

It is POssible.

I wish to meet who got the inspiration for the name Shanahan.

Upon all beautiful Catholic names, upon all the beautiful Igbo names, he came up with a name that sounds Congolese 😅—— Bishop Joseph Shanahan was a Catholic Bishop of the Onitsha Archdiocese decades ago. NOT CONGOLESE!

Well, I wish this could be a Nigerian version of Saint Louis University, US. That was my dream university years back but funds shattered that dream.

OkanlawonB:
BALKAN Airlines, the Bulgarian Airlines. The one our badmouth people nicknamed PANGOLO was about the cheapest airline flying from Lagos to Europe in those days.

AEROFLOT, the russian Airlines was another cheap communist airline that flew the Lagos - Europe route in those days.

Both Airlines had their Salesoffices/Outlets at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
--- Oh yes! I remember Balkan, I flew it a lot during holidays from Lagos to Harare. Them good old days... After it was liquidated, Ghana Airways took over the Harare route. I used to fly Bellview from Lagos to Accra and then Ghana Airways to Harare.

Food / Re: Who Remembers This Ghana Bread From The 80s? by Chiefwandungu(m): 1:34am On Feb 18
Jewessgratitud3:
I just remembered this Ghana bread from my childhood that was sold those days in ikoyi. It was a delight back then. we would always trouble my Dad to take us outside the gate every weekend to buy it for us because it looked different from the regular four corner bread 🍞 we were used to. It was kinda crusty and dusty but we enjoyed it anyways grin

Some Ghanaian guys were hawking it in a basin and would spread butter on it when you buy.

Who else had this bread back then.
. I remember it........real yummy. The good old days.

Politics / Re: Ex-Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma Arrives In Nigeria by Chiefwandungu(m): 6:25pm On Jan 20
Kenochi:
The Biggest Mistake made by our leaders was the removal of History in our syllabus. It seems there is a present crop of Nigerians who weren't taught or refuse to understand the powers possessed by Nigeria in West Africa and Africa in General.
When Liberia,Sierra Leone and even South Africa were undergoing tribulations and apartheid regimes,Nigeria stood up to be counted and acted as a rallying point for Africans
Nigerians invested a lot of money and human lifes for peace to be restored in countries like Liberia and Sierra Leone.I pray that the Nigerian military will open up their archives to allow groups like our Nollywood Industry tell their stories of sacrifice, pain and victories which they recorded during this turbulent period in West Africa
Coming to the topic at Hand,Nigeria is gradually becoming a beacon of democracy in West Africa and let me assure Nigerians that the whole world is watching and taking notes. All this diplomatic favours Nigeria is dishing out to countries in West Africa,a day will come for Nigeria to cash in these favours.
I salute Asiwaju for quickly understanding this diplomatic game, projecting Nigeria as a bastion of Democracy in Africa and putting an halt to any military take over in West Africa.
Let me end by welcoming the Sierra Leone ex president and urging him to understand that he will be sent back if he tries to meddle in overthrowing the government back home
. BRAVO!!!!!

Politics / Re: Bandits Caught On Tape Brandishing Automatic Rifles They Recovered From Security by Chiefwandungu(m): 1:39am On Jan 19
The first step I think, will be to secure our Northern borders. We must do a TRUMP. Build some kind of fence or wall with the latest technology that can be monitored 24/7 and detect breaches. Then start rounding up the so called "Bandits/Terrorists" that are within the country. In fact no need to round them up, just make them "disappear".

Travel / Re: My Crazy Story In A Tanzania Prison by Chiefwandungu(m): 7:37pm On Aug 31, 2023
1 week to my release date, I received various death threats from all corners. The prison warden which I slept with also started acting crazy.

The guy think say prison na my house because he was sad and convinced me to stay back, abi you Dey mad ni Omo prison warden.

How do you expect me to give up my freedom and chose to stay in prison. Since the threats was coming left and right, I had to personally request to be moved to a different prison. But it was bounced.

The night to my release was the longest night. I couldn’t sleep all night because I don’t know what’s next for me. I stayed up all night.

Finally it was day break, 6am sharp, I was called up after doing all paper works and stuff. I booked a flight straight to MMIA Lagos from my savings in prison + other money at hand.

I was to be deported immediately. Police men took me to the airport like a celebrity, stayed with me till my flight was due.

They watched me enter the ✈️. I smiled and told one of the guys “I will be back”.

The story is longer than this but I had to summarize everything. I learnt a lot of lessons in my time in Tanzania, nobody loves Nigerians. They might like our music and movies but the hatred for Nigerians is very real.

Stay safe, stay blessed and be wise. Thanks for reading. - Wow! Interesting. Tanzania is a quiet a beautiful country, I've been there twice. My best friend from College is Tanzanian and I plan on investing there soon. But not as a Nigerian o! I hold Zambian, Nigerian and US passports. Sorry, you had to go through all that. What an ordeal. Stay strong, you'll bounce back as Nigerians, we are very resourceful and resilient people. ✌️
Foreign Affairs / Re: Gabon Opposition Urges Coup Leaders To Declare It As Election Winner by Chiefwandungu(m): 7:26pm On Aug 31, 2023
what if the military actual recount the election and the opposition won and they hand over to the opposition as the rightful winner of the election.

That would be so nice that other electoral institutions across Africa will desist from election rigging in favour of the opposition.

Meanwhile, the military has stated why they toppled the government. Kindly watch below and subscribe to my channel .

-Interesting scenario, but what then will you do with the Gen. who seized power earlier after he has handed over power to you? Retain him? Send him out of the country into the diplomatic service or what? He'll be very in powerful and eventually take you out too. Remember JJ Rawlings? Tough situation.
