This hasn't got anything to do with being igbo or whatever. African men are tend to be that way. Not limited to Igbo men. |

elodie: “I decided to inform her of my intention to quit during one of my visits, even though I earlier promised her I was going to marry her. But I could not go ahead with the marriage plan when I realized the illness was re-occurring. I did not kill her, neither did I cause her to commit suicide. On that day I told her she was a beautiful and nice person and as such would find a good man to marry. How insensitive of him. |

plus_Queen: That's a new one So me that my husband paid only one naira,I'm just a dash dash? he sponsored the ceremony (which in my place is the 3rd visit) He bought the contents of the list. He sponsored a church wedding too Bride price is just a fraction of what the man does and the amount is negotiable in may places I didn't mean that literally. This tradition came about for a good reason. |

I have nothing against bride price sha because most times a man won't respect you if he didn't pay your bride price. |

Culture › Re: Outrageous Brideprice! by chika98: 6:04pm On Nov 03, 2008 |
Bride price varies from place to place. I know where I'm from it's about 8 thousand naira or so. I know some villages that charge by what kinda degree the girl has in school eg if she has a bachelors or masters or even those in medical school . The price goes way up to match her educational qualifications. Now this is outrageous!! |

~Sauron~: It gives the groom a say. I have been to engagement parties where the bride's family insisted on NO ALCOHOL policy. The friends of the groom were so pissed but there was nuthing the groom could do. . . . If the expenses were from his pockets, i doubt such policy would exist. Why won't ma buddies sip some cristal on the happiest day of me life?? No chance!!! And that is how it should be really. |
Romance › Re: Guys Who Fall In Love are Fools by chika98: 10:53pm On Nov 02, 2008 |
~Sauron~: . How do i know the gurl i fell in love with has no violent tendencies. These babes hide their negative vibes till they are legally married and they turn to monsters overnight. Like u have said, it's a risk and will continue to be. One should just aim low to avoid unnecessary heartaches. That is why they say if something is true good to be true then it probably is. Any real human being will always show their true selves maybe not in its entirety but well enough that you can tell what their tendencies are . |

~Sauron~: I am yoruba but i won't take a penny from the bride's family. If they wish to organise their own private party, fyne by me but the engagement party and the wedding expenses shall be from ma pocket. Good for you. |
Romance › Re: Guys Who Fall In Love are Fools by chika98: 10:47pm On Nov 02, 2008 |
~Sauron~: Now you are talking. . . . . .Life is a risk so is most of the things would do. We can only hope and pray which means falling in love prematurely is foolish?? When is it premature?? Thatz the risk u were talking about in the first place. . . . . In my humble opinion, real love isn't premature. Falling in love with a girl who has violent tendencies and then crying tomorrow that she breaks dishes when she's upset or slaps you around is no one's fault but yours. People do tend to see these things before they commit but most times they choose to ignore it. |
Romance › Re: Guys Who Fall In Love are Fools by chika98: 10:40pm On Nov 02, 2008 |
~Sauron~: Puhleeeeeeeeeeeease!!! There's a fine line between love and foolishness. Many people cross this line more often than not then get spanked. Oh well. Na you sabi. I woulda thought we ain't talking about some childish love crap here. Then again most of our decisions in life do have some risk in it. For some, it works out and for others? not so much. |

~Sauron~: The guys that love genuinely and get treated like douche-bags. . . . . .Are they fools?? No they are not but let's leave all that crap about being treated like fools. Women do love all the darn time and still the men up and leave them when things get tough. That's life. If you really loved someone and they treat you like crap then best believe that they weren't worth it to begin with. You will surely find someone who will love you just the way you are and treat/praise you like a king. . . ask sisterwoman |

H2O2: Why don't you calm down or better yet remain taciturn. No need to turn this into a useless display of your foolishness. You were wiser with your lips sealed. Go get yourself to a nunnery. H2O2: You should be ashamed of yourself for posting like a child. At least offer some rebbutal. If the most tangible contribution you can make about my post is an attack on my person, then it must mean my post has put you at a loss for wiser words. It takes one to know one. Please close your immature filthy potty mouth! You haven't got anything smart to say. On your person ke? What kind of English is that? SDFU while you're at it. Dunce! ~Sauron~: I am always in control of ma environment which has been branded by girls as "selfish". Love gets men killed quicker than HIV. Many great men fell in the past because they fell in love. One has to tread carefully around it. . . . . . .It's a land mine. Then again sometimes when you actually do find it . Treat it like a gold mine and never let it go. Love is a beautiful thing. |
