EFCC should withdraw any case against Yahaya Bello. Afterall, he is an APC member and a Buhari loyalist. He was not the one that stole the most in that era.

Let selective Justice continue in Nigeria so that a few will steal the future of the silent majority that are just there looking like Lucozade. grin grin grin

Lol... at "Had Peter Obi won" grin grin grin grin

Peter Obi won the 2023 elections hands down. The imposter in Aso Rock knows he is enjoying Peter Obi's mandate.

The reason I DON'T WANT Peter Obi in Nigerian politics is that he is too soft and civil as a Nigerian politician. I don't see any politician that would be brazenly robbed the way he was and they will not call for massive civil disobedience.

It is so sad that he still believes they will get tired of stealing electoral mandates instead of calling for civil disobedience.

Is Tinubu out to swindle Nigerians? Because how was Buhari able to subsidize these five key services cum commodities:

1. Electricity

2. Petrol

3. Diesel

4. US Dollars

5. Sponsored pilgrimage

6. Education

Despite Paying Billions of dollars to subsidze these big elephants, Buhari and GeEJ was still able to carry maintain a fair economy, and reduce the load on the masses.

Tinubu have successfully removed these 6 key subsidies in his first year in office?

Where is the money going to?

How many more should we expect ?

Are you really asking where the money went?

Where did you think Tinubu would get the funds to reimburse his expenditure on buying INEC boss and the Judiciary? You really think he would just use his personal money and not get it back? Na wao for people's expectations.

People keep saying Nigeria should export more for the naira to gain, Please was Nigeria actually exporting anything when a dollar was 200 during Jonathan regime?? I'm curious 🤔

Oga @Yourprick,

Then, Nigeria was producing the same crude oil it is still producing today. Except for 2 major things that we started seeing under Buhari and has continued under the present regime.

1. The Illegal and excessive Printing of Naira notes by the FG to pay its debts instead of earning resources through services.

2 The massive oil theft by politically connected people and NNPC which has continued to be ignored by this regime.

Nigeria's problem has always been the people stealing our common resources through all sorts of ways. Nigeria and Nigerians should never be poor if we can stop these massive thefts of the country's wealth by fantastically corrupt but connected people.

As long as INEC maintains the illegal powers to declare someone a winner instead of just announcing the results as they do in sane countries, any Nigerian President merely needs to have his boy installed as INEC Chairman and he does not need your vote to be declared "Landslide" winner even a thousand times.

I would love the Eastern governors especially Mba to follow the way of Otti to achieve a comprehensive covered drainage on road construction.

Instead of making ditch and gutters by the sides of the roads, the contractors should rather dig a deep drainage in the middle of road at stretch then cover it with manholes at strategic points to allow run off collections, then the contractor can just build or construct a proper walkways by the sides of the roads. A win win situation for everyone...

Ugwuanyi did this at some section of the Opi-Nsukka road solidly constructed by RCC.

The ignorance about underground gutters in America or Europe is that we think they are made from concrete. Even abroad where cement is way less expensive than in Nigeria, they still cannot afford to use concrete to build gutters and then build multiple concrete slabs reinforced with steel rods to cover them. That will be insanely expensive even for the rich developed countries.

What we must do is encourage the industries that make the underground gutter pipes used abroad to begin producing such plastic underground drainage gutters here in Nigeria. So that we can encourage our road builders to start using these types of modern pre-fabricated underground gutters for any new projects. Unless we change this fundamentally by pushing for the local production of drainage gutters in Nigeria, we shall continue wasting time asking governments to spend scarce resources on building reinforced concrete slabs to ensure underground drainage gutters. I think we should do it the way it's done abroad via pre-fabricated underground plastic gutters and not using very expensive concrete for it.

Nigeria and Nigerians don't deserve Peter Obi!

If an Igboman must rule, let it be Orji Uzor kalu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi or Rochas. We cannot give our best brains and honest people to Nigeria to fix their mess.

If out of all the great Yoruba people that exist, it is a shady character like Tinubu who comes from the region to rule Nigeria, and out of the great people in Northwest, it is a roundly incompetent and corrupt fellow like Buhari that is given to Nigeria by the region! Then let the southeast give Nigeria the same quality of Igbo politicians that the other regions are giving to Nigeria.

I wish Soludo and Alex Otti could work together in galvanizing other governors to kickstart the Eastern Regional Railway Network

Instead of waiting for the Federal Government to build railways for us, which is very unlikely to happen in 100 years, we can help ourselves by doing what is needed to reduce the cost and stress of moving goods and services within the region.

Here's the plan: We'll create a company called the "Eastern Corridor Railways Corporation (ECRC)" to build a regional railway line. Which is separate from the national Port Harcourt to Maiduguri Nigerian railway line. The Southeast and South-South Governors will work together to get permission from the Federal Government for the Eastern Regional Railway Network project.

Each state that benefits from the railway will invest 1% of its budget into the company. This money will help get the project started, and in return, the states will receive shares in the company.

Next, we'll invite foreign companies to bid on the construction work. They'll build the railway using a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) arrangement, where they'll invest their own money and operate the railway for 100 years before transferring it back to us.

By following these steps, we can make this project a reality and improve economic activity in our regions. Just imagine being able to travel from Calabar to Onitsha or Port Harcourt in a comfortable, air-conditioned train in just a few hours. Or transporting goods from Afikpo to Port Harcourt without worrying about bad roads or police harassment.

If the railway is less than 1,000 kilometers long, the total cost should be less than $1 billion. We can finance this through loans from organizations like the World Bank and China Exim Bank. A five-year plan with $200 million each year seems like a reasonable timeframe.

This Regional Railway Masterplan and the use of the oil and gas resources in each of these states to support modular refineries and gas powerplants like Geometric are the ONLY projects that will bring prosperity to the region in particular and Nigeria in general.

Exporting crude oil will never bring prosperity to Nigeria. I believe a new government that is development-minded at both the federal and state levels is now in place in Nigeria to facilitate this project. Hopefully, those who want Nigeria to truly prosper will finally work towards making this project happen soon.

Please Repaint abd Equip the Anambra State Library, Onitsha Division!

I am moved to make this public appeal to Anambra State government under the able leadership of Prof. Charles Soludo (Charlie Nwa Mgbafor) on the sorry condition of the state library, Onitsha division.

As someone who studied for his SSCE, Jamb, Second MBBS medical examination, and finally my United States Medical Licensing Examination in this building, I cannot overstate its importance to the promotion of educational excellence in Anambra state. I am sure that thousands of professionals INCLUDING Prof. Charles Soludo himself must have studied at one point or another in this library building.

Biko nu, let this building be repainted and upgraded with computers, internet, and new desks so that the upcoming generation will have at least a serene place to study for their exams the way we did in our time.

Anyone with Soludo's contact should send him this appeal so that this iconic library will be re-painted and upgraded to continue supporting educational excellence as it previously did.

Read his manifesto on page 39 - 41 ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1T8c_740CbQvJTcp-PQlDLQelFHiDUMVR/view ).

Soludo is judiciously implementing his manifesto. Not giving silly excuses like Politicians do. Pleading that there is no money or other blah blah blah! Everything in his manifesto including making education free in all Anambra public schools (from primary 1 to JSS3) is being systematically implemented! That is how you know a leader who honors his word as his bond!

For those of them who say he only talks without following it up with action. If we can get more SE governors to empower youths with productive SKILLS rather than dash them bags of rice and yams, the unemployment and poverty in society will gradually disappear someday. A certain Igbo state needs this type of program urgently rather than building elitist airports where citizens cannot fly. But this isn't to bash anyone as airports are also good investments, but investing in one's people is what makes the entire society better for all of us!

All the sorry youths in this thread writing lies in the interest of the shady politicians they are trying to help come to power to simply begin stealing, lying, and blaming the previous regime while amassing unbelievable wealth for themselves should learn from the lamentation of

It is easy to cite Americans, Japanese, or Germans as the people we should copy. But you fail to also copy their BEHAVIOR / MINDSET! No American, German, or Japanese would take trash from their homes and dump it in the street or into drainage gutters hoping the flood would carry the trash to the River Mississippi. That is the underlying difference between the people who live in those countries and the behavior of our people! If you take Nigerians to America and bring Americans to Nigeria, in less than 2 years, they will make our cities look sparkling clean with flowers and trees all over, while we would make New York and Los Angeles look like piggeries with decaying trashing filled gutters and underground drainage seeping out sewage onto the streets. That my friend is the DIFFERENCE! Our people are still getting accustomed to the tenets of modern city life. Unfortunately, previous governments paid zero attention to environmental sanitation, so our people assume that it is perfectly okay to litter and pollute their environment as much as possible. So long as they sweep inside of their homes. The exterior can be a pile of trash and nobody cares.

If someone hears you talking like this they would think you are the type that does not throw trash on the street or properly bag your refuse and drive to authorized places to dispose of them. Or they would believe that you will gladly pay taxes without being chased around. An average American or German would do these things on their own without waiting for the government to chase them around before doing the right thing!

The problem with most of you is MINDSET! Nigerians are the most difficult people to govern and Igbos have learned and imbibed that recalcitrant attitude. Imagine that people asked to stop trading on the street and blocking the free flow of traffic would return to the same spot immediately after the enforcement team moved to another location. Until the enforcement team returns with clubs and begins to damage their wares to forcefully make them comply! There is a total disregard for the laws and norms of a sane society.

There are currently two prevailing schools of thought in Igboland: one advocating for a return to our traditional roots and ancient way of living, while the other proposes mimicking Western countries entirely, from methods, infrastructure designs, and ideas to culture.

In my view, the truth lies somewhere between these extremes. There are instances where embracing Western ideas and concepts is beneficial, just as there are times when blindly copying them proves unwise.

Personally, I always consider the cost implications of any proposal. It's essential to weigh the cost-benefit ratio when discussing initiatives. For example, having lived in New York for many years, I witnessed the city complete major projects like flyovers within just 2 or 3 months. Initially, I attributed this efficiency to Nigeria's lack of seriousness until I delved into their budget.

a. The 2024 budget of New York City , is $107 billion , for its 8.5 million residents! For those who don't know, the City of New York is just an LGA in the state of New York. It is like saying the City of Ikeja in Ikeja LGA of Lagos state.

b. Nigeria's 2024 budget , even with all its excesses, amounts to $34 billion for 225 million people.

c. Anambra's 2024 budget is a mere $280 million (#400 billion naira), serving a population of 6-9 million people. To put this into context, the City of New York Fire Department's 2024 budget is $2.3 billion! (i.e. just Fire Brigade funding for New York City is larger than the budget of all north central and southeastern states combined!)

These figures should tell us something when we are proposing ideas about what is obtainable abroad that should be in Nigeria. Unless you pause for a moment to do a cost-benefit analysis, you will be wasting time. Now some proposals are fine, but in a country where almost everything is lacking, you almost wonder what to spend the precious little resources on to drive economic development and what to leave for later. Of course, many Nigerians don't care about these figures because we have lived in a country where politicians do nothing but steal public resources. Yes, these financial figures underscore the critical importance of distinguishing between feasible initiatives that can be adopted without significant financial strain and those that are unrealistic, considering Nigeria's resource constraints and pervasive corruption among politicians. It does not make sense to demand why a starving man is not clean-shaven and did not buy soap to wash his clothes when he has an even greater priority - addressing hunger.

Gov. Soludo is trying his best with the few resources available. Many of us bad-mouthing him from the sidelines cannot perform what he is doing if we are made governors now. Of course, many of them have never forgiven him for the regrettable letters he wrote at the early stages of his administration. I also tongue-lashed Soludo all over social media including sending him tweets demanding why he should distract himself with national politics, especially after the second letter. Instead of facing the enormous work he was elected to do for the Anambra people. But if Peter Obi himself came out and hugged Soludo, and asked us to forgive the argument among brothers, why should we hold on to that grudge and therefore refuse to acknowledge the good that Soludo has been doing since then?

It is better to have many more malls so that Eke Awka can die a natural death and that site will be cleared and cleaned up for a public green park.

Let’s stop spreading this archaic idea that one development will mean another must die or disappear. Although I hate the location of Eke Awka market in the city center and along the most important Boulevard in the city, it still serves a purpose of circulating wealth through exchange of goods and services.

Every retail outlet has its own niche and purpose. Even if you build another open air market bigger than Onitsha main market in Awka, it will not lead to the disappearance of Eke Awka market.

The same mindset caused the state incalculable harm when Onitsha luxury bus association transporters vehemently opposed an airport in Onitsha because it will cause their business to “disappear”. As if everyone in Anambra would suddenly afford or even prefer to travel to Lagos by air! Until an airport was built in nearby Asaba and they realized that airports serve their own niche of customers different from luxury bus customers. Same idea that Anambra airport would cause the Asaba airport to close down. Has that happened in more than 2 years now? The same mindset that Onitsha mall would cause Onitsha main market and Ochanja markets to close down. Again has that happened? I remember when similar statements that new hotels in Awka would kill the big hotels like Geo Gold and Parktonian etc. Today we have hundreds of new hotels and nightclubs in Awka and even Geo Gold and Parktonian hotels have expanded and added more wings that are bigger than the original pioneer wings of the hotel! More importantly their services are now up to standard and now even offer free breakfast and WiFi to guests because the newer hotels introduced that complementary service.

Please let’s stop propagating these falsehoods that have continued to stifle development in Igboland. Some of our people don’t often research things properly. So if they see your comment from naira land, they could run with it as the gospel truth. Not knowing you were probably only joking!

The Awka mall will not cause Eke Awka to disappear nor cause the Everyday supermarket , Roban stores and others to disappear. It simply helps to expand the city, create competition that drives improvements and progress while ultimately helping to position the city as a thriving urban center to attract more investors. Let us stop viewing any new development in Igboland as a threat or something negative that would cause the death of something instead seeing it correctly as a new addition of options and new opportunities that will drive improvements in that sector.

So glad that Gov. Soludo is completing the Ikenga Mall, Awka! As well as adding a 5-star multi-story hotel within the compound of the International Convention Center for both facilities to complement each other! Awka will soon emerge as a preferred holiday and international conference destination when these projects are completed!

So glad about the wisdom of Soludo to complete these projects instead of running off elsewhere to start the same projects as many clueless Nigerian governors would do.

I am begining to think that Soludo is being held captive by the very machinery that brought him to power.....APGA and its pot bellied chieftains....( the same demons that hounded Peter Obi out of APGA)! Who are these people behind these 2 for a penny contracting firms that Soludo awarded contracts to? some of these funny road contracts are less than 2 km in length..and Soludo was just sharing the contracts like crayfish to his party! Who are the characters that won the revenue generation contracts? I am yet to believe soludo has fully emencipated himself from these party goons..........or is he busy feathering his own nest? Why the massive road contracts all over Awka and the Nnewi is barely mentioned in contract awards! na wao !

You people are never tired of conspiracy theories and conjectures.

APGA isn’t holding Soludo back. Soludo is trying his best to prioritize the resources for the maximum impact. He understands that doing just one road using a multinational construction company does not even make a dent on the massive problem of poor roads all over the state.

For people saying Soludo isn’t building an airport or a showpiece infrastructure like Obiano. As much as airports are important developmental infrastructure, You should understand that what got our cities into looking like piggeries was decades of neglect to do inter LGA roads rather than urban renewal.

Peter Obi understood that education was the bedrock of development and pursued that priority. He also did some work in health. Obiano focused on giving Anambra the advantage of accessibility by air and creation of infrastructure such as hotels, conference centers or malls to help Anambra host big ticket events successfully.

Like Dr. Alex Otti who understood the importance of livable cities, especially a thriving Aba city to the overall development of Abia state. Soludo is right to focus on urban renewal and finally making Anambra cities some of the best habitable cities in the country. If Soludo succeeds in bringing law and order and transforming Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulobia and Aguleri into thriving urban centers, his achievements would be the most impactful in driving economic development of the state and making it a key investment destination in Nigeria. I remember when Rotimi Amaechi was demolishing shanties and dualizing key roads in Port Harcourt. People also criticized his work because they didn’t understand the importance and the link between having a decent city to attracting investors.

Unfortunately for Soludo he is doing the heavy lifting of repositioning Anambra cities at a time of near economic collapse. In his reluctance to raise taxes or massively borrow, he will have to continue finding ingenious ways by focusing on a batch of high priority roads and then stretching the available resources to complete them before taking on another batch of roads. Clearly Soludo has a plan and he is trying to judiciously use available resources without resorting to massive borrowing.

Nwanne i totally agree with you. My concern with some people is where they have to put Anambra on a spot as if Anambra is a different entity aside Nigeria. Everyone knows that Nigeria as a whole is a shithole, I have been to some developed countries so I know this for a fact. I have been to almost everywhere in Nigeria , they are all same with little difference maybe in housing patterns but they are still run by the same black people and their below per leadership

Believe me, Anambra is a leader. Even if those that run Nigeria pretend otherwise. We should learn to stop measuring ourselves with the rot the country has become.

If we begin to do things the right way in Anambra, the entire country will copy it . Which will eventually lead to Nigeria becoming a livable place. Remember that Nigeria’s independence was facilitated by an Anambra man. Perhaps if he didn’t make that move for independence, those people grabbing power today in Nigeria would just docilely remain under colonial rule. That is why you must not compare yourself to people who couldn’t care less if cow dung is used as mattress for the entire country.

You’ve got to do what is right and do it to international standard. Even if some parts of the country prefer medieval Stone Age sanitary practices and a generally lawless environment with primitive societies.

I see your point. But let’s stop comparing with other states. Nigeria is a messed up country where nothing works. Therefore we should learn to do the right things and not copy the rot elsewhere in Nigeria. That is why Anambra is the light of this nation that is pitch darkness .

I will post a few street from Jamaica or Barbados that have less resources than most Nigerian states. But because they insist on proper waste disposal and fight against street trading and general lawlessness , those small countries now look like heaven compared to Nigeria.

Meanwhile Jamaica and Barbados which had the worst types of street trading and littering of the streets just like Nigeria, started cleaning up their country, planting trees and flowers along their roads and removing illegal makeshift structures and shanties used for street trading. Today, these countries look decent while Nigeria that used to look decent in the past, has continued to get worse over the years with the multiplication of street trading shanties all over our cities, mountains of trash called refuse dump sites on our streets and debris littered streets and drainage gutters as standard practice.

This video summarized everything about the impact of street trading and the lack of good waste management.

We must address the issue of street trading and proper waste management that complicates the street trading phenomenon. Even new roads are already covered with sand and pure water sachets? Before the rains begin, they will fill the new drainage channels with refuse to guarantee that the drainage channels will not work. This street trading menace and refuse disposal onto the streets and gutters have to be addressed before we can have a decent environment.

Street trading and poor attitude to environmental sanitation is indeed a problem in Anambra. Video was probably shot on Sunday so you see how the street traders lined up their makeshift shops on top of the gutters! They don’t even know that nobody should be on top of gutters to sell anything!

Imagine that this road was completed just about 3 weeks ago! It already has trash and sand all over it! Wow!

Update on the dualization of Iweka road
~ By Anambra1stSonTV

Anambra1stSonTV,

I am glad that from 2:30 you addressed the issue of folks calling for Julius Berger to do our internal city roads and the over-flogged clamor on open drainages. I always see comments about open drainage in Anambra videos and I often ask myself if these people had not noticed that there is trash and sand everywhere. How can closed drainage systems work in such an environment? How long would a drainage gutter sealed with concrete serve in such an environment? Not to mention the mindset of our people at this stage of development where they drink sachet water and litter the street with plastic bags and drop all sorts of trash on the street. Some of the newly constructed roads such as Niger Street, Club Road, or UNIZIK Temp site road are already covered in sand and litter! Not to mention the gutters that have already been filled up with trash washed into the gutters from the littered streets just a few months after Soludo opened up all the drainage channels in the state!

All I can say is that even a beggar would want to use a private jet to travel from Awka to Asaba. Even if a commercial bus would get him to the same destination at a much cheaper rate. Of course, we would like Julius Berger to tar all our streets and cover all gutters with concrete pavement like in London or New York. The difference nobody talks about is that nobody in London or New York would dump their trash into the drainage channels. You can NEVER find any untarred street or road in London or New York. Therefore, there isn't so much sand build-up on their roads because the entire city and country roads are tarred. Most importantly; WHERE IS THE MONEY??

I'm glad you eloquently addressed that even many oil-producing states with fewer urban centers than Anambra are not even able to afford those eldorado requests. So where do our people think Anambra will find the money to engage Julius Berger for Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, and Onitsha urban renewal?? We should try to be realistic in our requests and thank any leader who judiciously utilized the little resources available to make our cities decent and habitable. It's not a mark of intelligence to always blindly criticize and request things that you know that there isn't enough money for even basic infrastructure found in decent Nigerian cities, talk more doing standards found in America or Europe. Let us have the money to tar all our city roads and provide drainage channels first. Then we can begin to improve them to American or European standards after we have achieved decent tarred roads everywhere.

Not to mention the frenzy of racking up foreign debts as if it was going out of fashion and bringing our foreign reserves to almost zero from more than $55 billion dollars where they met it!

Politics / Re: Nig Army Arrested Soldier Who Insulted Sanwolu For Arresting His Colleague by ChimaAdeoye: 1:22pm On Jan 10
The outburst of that lance corporal and disrespect for civilian authority is the tip of the iceberg on the rot in the Nigerian military.

Nigerian soldiers are a bunch of illiterate and unruly touts. Otherwise, they would know that a "soldier" is expected to "ALWAYS be law-abiding", patriotic and to defend his country's democratic tenets to ensure the progress and survival of his country. That is how soldiers in sane societies earn the gratitude of their people and not through violation of the rights of their citizens. Look at Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso!

However, in Nigeria which has cancer, even the Nigerian "soldiers" are behaving abnormally, and refusing to obey any national laws or lawful authorities.

See as dem mention DANGOTE first to distract from their real target.

Who didn't know that some organizations are above EFCC and whatever clown that runs it?

Nigerians should stop entertaining these crooks by posting these planted stories with attention-seeking headlines, and acting like they fell for it that the puppet EFCC chairman has the balls to confront a Nigerian Oga-on-top like DANGOTE.

Wahala dey ooo.

I have always adviced People working for government to acquire digital skills.

Today is 22nd I hear say Federal Government don broke, dem no fit pay Civil Servants

Oga,

Abeg, exercise some patience. You know that there is no money left anywhere. So FG is still printing more naira notes to pay Federal Government civil servants salaries and other emergency naira payments by the FG.

Just wait for the 2024 hyperinflation and naira devaluation. We will still come here to pretend we didn't know what caused the hyperinflation and devaluation of naira after pressuring them to pay salaries knowing there isn't any money in the treasury. They have no option but to massively print more naira and pay workers, and then deal with the economic consequences later grin grin grin cool

I have observed Soludo for a while and I am glad that he lived up to our expectations as THE SOLUTION!

If he can complete all the roads he is doing in Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, and Ekwulobia, then we can right call him Prof SOLUTION aka The ROADMASTER!

Soludo will transform Anambra cities and make them habitable if he completes all those urban roads with sidewalks, street lights, and well-designed drainages. No governor before him will come close to his achievements because he tackled the hardest task of developing Anambra which every other governor since 1976 artfully dodged. He stopped the sluming of Anambra in the name of "development" where people build on gutters, block the end of a street and build a house there, and many other lawless things that no governor dared to confront the perpetrators and correct the decay of our cities. After all, no former Anambra governor dared to demolish buildings and do some politically "unpopular" but right things to return to the master plan of Anambra's cities.

I am personally shocked that he dares to even dualize Iweka Road, Isu Anaocha Road, and more. Imagine how Anambra cities will look upon completion of these key city roads with walkways and all! Soludo is truly a ROADMASTER in the making!

What is it with the current ministry of work and delay of contacts and work? Thank God work has finally resume on Enugu/Onitsha expressway after work was stopped because of construction issue between RCC and the new minister of works; though the matter which is on the table of the Senate has not been resolved completely.

The minister of works is insisting that all federal roads should be concrete Base instead of stone base which RCC are using.
For me; well constructed stone base which has proven to be best and stand test of time is better than over hyped concrete base. Concrete base crakes/ tear months after completion. What happens is... When concrete base road is heated under normal temperature, it expands on the lines (point) were the concrete are joined by square meters, coursing crack and tear on the concrete base/ asphalt.

Below is example from some Ebonyi concrete roads including airport road and runway.

What's your opinion on this?

Truth be told, concrete roads reinforced with 6mm to 8 mm rods are the most durable roads globally. Especially in environments with high rainfall. Those living in southern US states will attest that even their streets are made from reinforced concrete and they last more than 50 years with almost zero maintenance. Of course, reinforced concrete roads are way more expensive than laterite or stone-based roads. But they will last longer. That is why you will always find that the laterite or stone-based roads leading to a Nigerian bridge will totally break down but the tar on the bridge itself is in perfect state! It is because the tar on the bridge is sitting on a concrete base of the bridge.
If the damage of crack on the concrete roads you showed had happened on laterite or stone-based roads, that spot would have since been a huge pothole covered in red mud.

The issue with the Ebonyi Airport runway is that they built the concrete base of the runway without adding a very high height of asphalt to make it smooth. Actually, all major American airport runways have concrete bases, but they also spend to lay a generous layer of asphalt over the concrete so that it is not a very rough runway like the Ebonyi airport.

Finally, concrete roads are built in square blocks or slabs that allow for "expansion and contraction". This is simple physics (Linear expansivity). Thus, concrete roads are not built continuously like laterite roads without giving little breaks so that they can expand on very hot days and contract on cooler days. If little room is not given for expansion and contraction, the concrete will crack when it expands and slide against itself, then contracts on cooler days. As an Engineer, the Minister should know this principle of physics. It is the reason why any bridge must have small gaps on the surface to allow for safe expansion and contraction, otherwise, the bridge would collapse on a very hot day when the materials expand.
