It is not because they hate Soludo, they were totally out to capture Anambra by all means necessary. They plotted the declaration of a state of emergency using unknown gunmen but were outwitted by Obiano. Moreso, Obiano shamed them publicly by stating that the President had no such intentions other than conducting a free and fair election in Anambra. So Malami felt so ashamed that he had to discredit Obiano with fake allegations of corruption.

Notice that Anambra was not among the states that collected much from the Paris club refund. Also, notice that Buhari asked that the refund be paid to states to pay off all owed workers' salaries and complete key infrastructural projects. Notice that the disbursements were in 2017, so why is Malami bringing this up in 2021 a few weeks to the end of Obiano's tenure? Note that Anambra received a total of N17 billion from the Paris Club refund. This was before even site clearing at the international airport site was done. So clear infrastructural project after the receipt was evident. Now ask yourself what infrastructural projects happened in the states on the list below.

Moreover, the same Malami has not questioned Ganduje that got N33 billion, El-Rufai got 24 billion, and Aminu Masari that got N25 billion of what visible projects they did with the money.

Now notice that the APC states never paid workers' salaries and many are still owing many months of arrears of salaries. Not to mention that they had no identifiable infrastructural projects in those states! Many of the states that collected more than 50% of what Anambra got are even owing workers' salaries! Yet, EFCC isn't bothering them with what they did with the money! But, will accuse Obiano who paid off the workers' salaries, completed what is agreed to be one of the most modern airports in Nigeria with the second-longest runway of funds 'mismanagement"! Go figure!

https://www.tekedia.com/breakdown-of-paris-club-refunds-to-nigerian-states/

http://www.osundefender.com/breakdown-state-received-third-paris-club-refund/

The only Governor that comes close to Obiano in financial prudence and translating money received into concrete verifiable public projects is Dave Umahi.

I think those around Obiano should advise him to remain at his base until Malami and his gang leave office. It is clearly not a case of investigating financial impropriety. It is clearly a case of political vendetta and how Obiano thwarted his attempt to declare a state of emergency on Anambra in order to rig the gubernatorial elections. Malami's sole purpose is to abuse the powers of the federal government to humiliate him for daring to fight back publicly. Sadly, Nigerian institutions are dead that one cannot merely say, "just come back and prove your innocence in the court". There is no independent judiciary to prove anything to. The judge himself is acutely aware that Malami held a supreme court Judge under siege in her house for several hours and NOTHING has happened! So federal judges know who the boss is in Nigeria.

Imo state got 40% to 50% more than Anambra in the Paris Club refund. Now, what has Imo done with its share? Airports? or Roads or International conference centers or SMEs support or funded education etc? You'd expect Malami to ask why the roads are so bad in the state and why no tangible infrastructural project by the state government. But he won't because Hope Ozodingba is running a paddy-paddy government with his people.

If Obiano were a northerner, the northern elders' forum would have already issued a statement condemning the abuse of office by Malami. But, Obiano isn't a northerner, so he could expect no such respite. Obiano is an Igboman in present Nigeria where it is a crime to be Igbo. He will have no real expectation of justice in a Nigerian court under the current set of people appointing and firing judges like houseboys.

Therefore, I concur that Obiano should just stay away from Nigeria for now until these rascals leave office. Then he could return and clear his name in the courts when he can reasonably expect justice by an independent judiciary.

Yes my dear, I know that the airport has been commissioned, you and I knows that works are still on going even before the they commissioned it, for instance, the excavators, the elevators, the avio bridges, the 36 shops, interior & exterior decor of the terminal building, the fire trucks and the landscaping or have have they abandoned them? What am saying is that they should continue to be showing us what is going on there as they use to do before the election. Ka Chineke Mezie Okwu!

Bros,

The airport has been completed and is ready for commercial service. How "completed was PH airport or Enugu airport when they were opened for commercial use? An airport is ready when the critical elements of an airport are ready.. Which are;
1. Runway,
2. Control Tower
3. Fire & Safety Department
4. Emergency Clinic
5. Perimeter fencing
6. Terminal building and basic utilities as toilets, seats, lighting, carousels.

To mention landscaping and avio bridges, escalators, wall interior decorations, internal shops or even car parks which aren't even present in many so-called International airports in Nigeria as criteria to decide an airport is ready is ludicrous.

By the way, Chicago's O'Hare International airport is currently working on trains that transport people between its terminals. Currently, you have to exit one terminal and enter a bus shuttle to get to the next terminal. So in your criteria, Chicago airport is not ready to receive commercial flights because it currently has a huge construction project there building underground trains to link its terminal buildings?

I am actually very happy that they are not showing any more activities at the airport. Those people that shut down the airport should go there and verify things instead of gleaming on social media gossip sites and nairaland to justify their illegal closure of the airport. I wish the state will reinstate their no-pictures order so that mischief-makers will stop posting anything about the airport on social media to mislead people and justify the unjustifiable closure.

Professor Chukwuma Soludo will work but it depends on the willingness of the people to work with him. He is already blessed with the intelligence and exposure needed for the task in addition to his zeal to effect a drastic improvement in the state. But the people have to do their own part because money is required and Anambra has a large tax base who are not willing to pay their taxes. A lot of new taxes will have to be introduced in the state. Sales tax, property tax, road tax etc. If Anambra people really need the state to have a much better outlook, they already have a man with innovative ideas, they just have to do their own part. Our people pay whatever they are taxed in other parts of the country without complains, but when they are at home, they begin to feel entitled to free this, free that. It doesn't work that way. Anambra people must cooperate with the new incoming governor.

I agree that there is a serious problem of reluctance of Anambra citizens and residents to pay their basic taxes. You should also know that this mentality was partially due to many irresponsible regimes that ruled the state. The tax evasion issue will be solved by a combination of using technology, enforcement of the tax law, and most importantly plugging the massive leakages. The state should build a tax website and people should be able to log in and pay their taxes on the website using bank transfers.

Nonetheless, the issue of tax leakages through their collection using touts and crude manual processes MUST be plugged. If POS can work in Nigeria, I don't see why taxes cannot be paid via POS or online using available technology! Moreso, if everyone has a Tax Identification Number (TIN)! Infact, a state law making TIN mandatory for anyone living or transacting business in Anambra state should be passed. Their taxes can be paid using POS or bank transfers and their Tax Identification Number (TIN) will immediately be credited and turn "Green" color. So that once tax enforcement agents come to the area, they will only need to say their name and Tax ID Number and they can be verified electronically to be in "Green" color (i.e. all taxes have been paid). Civil servants could use their ANSSID number in lieu of Tax ID Number (TIN)

No need to carry dirty pieces of torn fake tax receipts anymore. Tax compliance can be verified electronically via any smartphone by simply logging into the state's database system and entering your tax ID number. The same way your bank can simply log in to their system and tell your account balance if you indeed have an account number with them. No need to carry any paper statement of account to tell your bank how much you have in your account. Then the tax enforcement team will simply check your ID to be sure it is the same name and picture of the person in the system that matched their photo ID. They are forbidden from collecting money. Petty traders will pay taxes via their unions whereby everyone's name must be listed and the flat tax stated.

I love the little green I saw in your picture. I remember when the effort to plant grass around the Kenneth Dike library was going on. Glad the place looks green now and not red soil.

While everyone is obsessed with flyovers, I hope the importance of trees and grass isn't forgotten. Truly, it is the trees and grasses that make a place liveable. If you look at the number of flyovers in the Bronx, you'd think it would be the most liveable place in America. While in truth, it is placed with a lot of trees, flowers, and grass that are indeed liveable!

A law to mandate that every house must plant at least one tree in front of it will ensure that Anambra streets are not just conducive but beautiful.

GBAM!

If we can pay attention to keeping our streets clean and green, then we would have made a giant leap forward as Rwanda did.

They purposefully began an aggressive 1 million tree every year project for Kigali and other Rwandan cities. In less than 3 years, they transformed the ambiance of Rwanda from a dusty barren look to a lush green look. Of course, they simultaneously built roads, new roundabouts, and new buildings at the same time. But the point is that trees and flowers are a HUGE part of the environmental transformation that is often overlooked for bridges and flyovers alone.

I agree with you the concrete roads were poorly constructed, I visited Ezi Abagha in Afikpo lga for my cousin's traditional marriage last two weeks, the long stretch road was poorly constructed and rough section of the road is not motorable and we were told that the road was constructed not too long, they were using local labourers constructing flyover where is totally unnecessary, same area they are constructing flyover for the past years haven't seen electricity, why not Dave use the money wasting on the flyover on location with low traffic and build 100 kva substation in the town.

While i agree that some of Dave Umahi's projects were misplaced priority and some like huge flyover at village road intersection frankly ill advised, one must give him credit for using concrete roads technology to build cheap and durable roads within the budget of a poor state.

While i have severally argued that reducing the unacceptable poverty rate in Ebonyi which trumps poverty rates in northeast Nigeria should have been prioritized by Umahi. His concept of using concrete roads technology with local stone quarries is truly a masterpiece that should be adopted by anyone willing to build durable roads at the most affordable price.

The reason I endorse concrete roads over asphalt roads in the journey to pave more roads are that;

1. They are cheaper and much more durable than asphalt (Especially when reinforced with small steel bars).
2. The can easily be built by low-skilled artisans because all you need are stones, cement, water, and wooden planks to retain the area for the concrete to harden.

3. Average 1KM asphalt road costs about N300 - N500 million naira, while average 1KM concrete road costs about N30 - N50 Million naira.

Therefore, for a cash-strapped developing country looking to deploy paved roads to reach as many locations as possible, concrete roads are the solution. You simply should not use the amount to construct 10KM of the concrete road to build just 1KM of asphalt road. Which ironically lasts half the lifetime of concrete roads.

Efforts to achieve a very high-quality finish on concrete roads should be ensured by the supervisor. It is not a reason to reject the proven technology.

Anambra 2021: Ifejiofor Congratulates Soludo
--- Reassures of the Readiness of Anambra International Airport to commence full Commercial operations
Moses Pajimo Oraegbunam | I-Witness

Anambra State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Marcel Ifejiofor has congratulated the winner of the November 6 Anambra State Governorship poll, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim even as he commended the electorate for choosing the best team for the job.

Engineer Ifejiofor gave the message, yesterday, November 11, 2021, when some I-Witness Media Office members visited him at the newly commissioned Anambra International Airport, Nteje-Umueri.

Said he, " I thank ndi Anambra for voting APGA and Soludo on November 6th. APGA is Anambra and Anambra is APGA".
" This airport was started and completed in fifteen months. The magic is simple, we engaged competent contractors, once they generate certificates and they 're confirmed, the Governor pays. His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano gave us both financial and moral support that enabled us achieve this ambitious project. Governor Obiano visits this airport every week. That's big encouragement".
Furthermore, the Works Commissioner insisted that the airport was ready for full commercial flight operations.
" The most important thing has been done which is to secure certificate from NCAA that this airport is ready for full Commercial operations and we have it.

Again, our Governor, Chief Willie Obiano commissioned this airport on October 30th. So, you can see that airlines have started setting up their counters. Airpeace has done theirs, Ibomair is coming, United Nigeria is coming and others. So, we are ready", the Commissioner remarked.
12.11.2021

https://www.facebook.com/IwitnessMediaOffice/posts/637248460987709

Like the Commissioner rightly stated, Gov. Obiano's weekly visits are a huge morale boost to the workers.

I hope Obiano continues his weekly inspections of the airport and ICC. Even if its just to see if Air Peace has built its counters and installation of television screens at departure and ticketing desk to show flight times and passengers entertainment.

For Soludo's emergency on roads repairs and reconstruction to be fruitful without eclipsing all state funds for other development, he must

1. Utilize CONCRETE Roads & Drainages USING DIRECT LABOUR
2. Revitalize the Anambra Roads Maintenance Agency (ARMA) to begin repairing all internal roads in the major urban centers with concrete.
3. Employ professional Engineers to lead the road ARMA in each major urban center where they are rebuilding the roads and drainages.

The concrete roads system using direct labor has been successfully used by poorer states to build cheap durable roads that have continued to last to date. Only very challenging intrastate roads should be awarded to contractors with relevant experience to do because of the engineering challenge and bridges required on such roads.

This method also improves the skillset of many youths who gain vital experience in roads construction and design which they can utilize in helping their communities build their own durable roads through communal effort and without the use of expensive roads construction companies.

Soludo, the SOLUTION Wins!!!

Congratulations Prof!!!

So glad the elections have been concluded and the peoples' will clearly prevailed.

Even in victory, Prof. Soludo demonstrated the spirit of good sportsmanship and magnanimity in this election by patiently allowing the process to play out and congratulating the other competitors for their gallant effort, and inviting them to participate in the development of Anambra. Just as he did in the 2010 elections when he contested under PDP and lost to Peter Obi in APGA.

Now those abuja politicians can return to the Senate chambers where they snore daily and pass no useful bill for the improvement of their peoples lives. More importantly, they can leave our airport to function without playing politics with the future of Anambra State. Stopping flights into our airport due to politics was a new low of unspeakable treachery against one's own people.

Those who were responsible for that action should cover their faces in shame. No matter what side of the aisle you stand, you should NEVER stand against development in your own state! Especially an international airport in Anambra that your people cried and pursued for almost 40 years!

I need individual inputs on this discussion.
..
Did the Governorship Debates and the isolated interviews and media engagements with the Governorship Candidates affect your choice of Voting in the Anambra Governorship Election??
..
..
As for me,, the Answer is YES.!!
The Arise-TV Governorship Debate of 1st November 2021 greatly affected my decision.
Before the debate, I had no single candidate in mind to vote for.
I used to count all of them as crooks.
..
But after listening to the debate, and after digested their views and their approaches to governance, I made a decision.

..
..
Please... I don't need anybody to come out and be telling us the particular candidate he/she voted for.
I just need to know the reasons behind your decisions.

The debate had very little impact.

APC choice of a known crook like Andy Uba sealed any chance at all. What happened to men like Dr. Ngige etc who had good track record of performance and well educated to match Soludo's pedigree.

It is bad enough that APC is not a popular party but if you chose an outstanding candidate with track record of performance, some people will vote for the high quality candidate not really for the party

All they need now is to get the person that did the landscaping around the water treatment house to do landscaping for the entire airport, the gatehouse, and the median of the main access road.

That airport main access road will eventually turn out to be the most beautiful sought-after location in the entire Anambra state if they ensure only qualified categories of building will be approved along that road.

Speak for yourself mate!

I want to hear him, and so do all other Igbo not beholden to the Fulani hegemony!

My brother, i respect your opinion very much. I also hate Fulani hegemony just as much. But IPOB has continued to allow its pro-Igbo credibility to be eroded because they have been quite dumb lately. I know IPOB is not responsible for these things they are accused of, but they are not smart enough to see it is designed to pitch them against their people and distance themselves from all of it. They are doing everything to tag IPOB as a terrorist organization, yet many IPOB members are clapping for them and cannot see through the smokescreen.

Today, three so-called Unknown gunmen were gunned down by Police in Ekwulobia. Only to discover these men weren't even Igbos! Now IPOB has been clapping for these non-Igbos doing harm to Igboland and killing fellow Igbos in the process. IPOB gladly took the blame for these crimes which has continued to damage their credibility as these non-Igbos planned. By doing what IPOB had spoken about which was stupid, but IPOB didn't do them. So they will go ahead and do them, then use propaganda to blame the killings on IPOB to damage their credibility since IPOB will be too dumb or embarrassed to disown acts they were caught on tape saying that they would do. IPOB has sadly refused to ask themselves "WHOSE INTEREST DOES IT SERVE TO KILL IGBOS IN IGBOLAND?"

If it wasn't APC politicians that MNK said would "go down" when the police kill people, by now these non-Igbo gunmen would be killing Igbo politicians in other parties and try to blame it on IPOB and the broadcast. Yet, IPOB would be too dumb to deny that they gave no such order.

Again, I am shocked at the behavior of these so-called Biafra national guards and those who thoughtlessly behave like senseless animals in their ill-thought-out strategy to free MNK. Why do they want to hide behind law-abiding people in the east to perpetrate crime? You will not understand what I'm saying now, but very soon IPOB will remember when it enjoyed the trust and support of the people and then squandered it by thoughtless actions actually carried out by non-Igbos which IPOB failed to publicly condemn because it had little analytic sense to judge "IN WHOSE INTEREST IS THIS?".

Just like in 2017, the same touts that spoke against elections in Anambra were suddenly VERY silent in 2019 when it was time for elections in IMO and EBONYI. O'lboy, check yourself. Do you smell the coffee yet?

If you don't think these things are not being observed, you are just deluding yourself. I can tell you that many Anambra people are increasingly smelling the coffee and unless IPOB takes urgent steps, it will find itself on the wrong side of history. Which will be tragic.

I was deliberately elusive in this post so that those who are plotting against IPOB and gauging Igbo public opinion will not learn too much from it. But believe me, time is running out for them to openly dissociate themselves from anything that hurts an Igboman.

I think Mazi Ezeoke is actually a very good guy without any anti-Obiano and pro-Umahi bias.

I just think he secretly believed the Anambra International airport project would be abandoned by Obiano, while Umahi will complete the Abakaliki airport due to the Umahi hype. He betted against a winning horse due to hype grin

It is very funny that it is Umahi who is now highly likely to abandon his own airport as an "audio" project, and Obiano indeed completed his own airport project with distinction! grin
