Lest we forget that apart from Lagos and Abuja airports, this is only the airport in Nigeria with fully functional runway center lights and runway edge lights, a full-fledged Category 2 ILS system, a dedicated meteorological system, and landing lights on both ends of the runway! In layman's terms, apart from Lagos and Abuja airports, this is the only airport in Nigeria where safe night landing in all weather is guaranteed!

Not to mention it has the tallest and most modern ATC Control tower in Nigeria today!

Biko, why has Njenje Media been avoiding going to do a proper tour of this airport? Their video last August during the construction tried to tarnish this airport a bit because folks trusted Njenje media as a credible media outfit. I will raise this issue with Mazi Ezeoke in his next hangout!

I have also wondered if Mazi Ezeoke was somehow bias in his presentations of Ebonyi and Anambra airports. I know he once said Anambra airport would not be completed this year while Ebonyi airport would because he trusted Umahi more as a project manager.

Anyhow whether he is or not, this airport became a reality before Dave Umahi's hyperbole. Truly i respect what Umahi has done and achieved in Ebonyi state nonetheless.

I really appreciate you and everyone who contributed postively on this thread, we literally camped on this thread from the beginning till now with updates and postive contributions. Chimaadeoye, , my brother Chino nwanne and so many others. Even when the opposite came to infiltrate the thread they were shown the way out, a lot of them were even waiting for the project to fail so they can come here and kikikikiki. Today even those who criticized and called the project a poultry are now praising it across all social media. The opposition are silent.
The lunatic mkingsight or whatever is no where to be found. I dare say this airport story will never be fully mentioned with all the contributors on this thread.

Nwanne, daalu rinne!

We all did our part to keep the focus on this important project and prevent enemies of Igboland masquerading here as night owls from propagating their narrative of deceit.

I am glad that Gov. Obiano totally focused on delivering a top notch truly international standard airport in record time. Apart from creation of Anambra state in 1991, this truly international airport with all the facilities installed is the 2nd most transformative event that has happened in its history. Although many Anambra people and residents won't even realize it yet. Until a few years into the future.

Anambra people must now ensure that those intent on using army and police to write and announce fictitious results to declare themselves winners in Anambra election are stopped. God has been with Anambra since Ngige was illegally smuggled into governance and he decided to pitch his tent with the people by being a high performer. Peter Obi went further and created institutions and ultimately bequeathed Obiano as his greatest legacy. Obiano has since transformed the state and now will bequeath the greatest legacy of Prof. C C Soludo (The SOLUTION) to our 3rd world challenges.

Even other Nigerian states will benefit from the fresh policies and new approaches executed by Prof. Soludo. So he is also a win for transformative leadership in Nigeria.

Shut up this anumanu. Nobody here is your umunne. Your umunne are in Jos Plateau. Anambra election is between Andy Ubah and Soludo. Anyone who does not support Soludo is automatically working for Andy Ubah and we know you never mean well for the state except to help the Pandora man continue looting us dry

I love how you busted their silly smokescreen approach. They always think that they are smarter than their father.

The same goons were screaming "no erection" in Anambra in 2017. Only to turn around When 2019 election in Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi etc ,came up, the same goons gladly lost their voice to allow elections!

In exactly the same way they are screaming no erection now because Anambra is involved. Only to be missing in action when its time to protest against elections in Imo and Ebonyi.

ANAMBRA AIRPORT: OBIANO'S LEGACY SET TO LAUNCH SOLUDO'S GREATER ANAMBRA

The Anambra International cargo and passenger airport is a Category ( CAT ) 4F airport. This means that an A380 aircraft or an Airbus can land comfortably in the airport.

As it gears towards full flight operations, here are 10 remarkable facts about the Anambra Airport as detailed by the Commissioner for Works, Anambra State, Engr, Marcel Ifejiofor.

1. THE RUNWAY: The runway is the second longest runway in Nigeria with:
- Length - 3.7km and a racer of 1km at both ends of the runway. Added together, the total length of the runway becomes 5.7km making it the second longest runway in the world.
- Width - 60 m
- Strip - 440 metres on either side of the runway

2. RUNWAY LIGHTING: The runway is equipped with CAT 2 lighting system. This implies that a plane can be guided by the light to land safely even in adverse weather conditions.

3. SATELLITE LANDING SYSTEM: The airport is equipped with a satellite landing system (SLS). This provides for satellite assisted landing of aircrafts should the runway lights fail for any reason.

4 TAXI WAY: The airport has two taxi ways.

5. THE APRON:  The airport apron measures 300 metres by 200 metres.
- It can accommodate 8 Boeing 747 aircrafts the same time.
- It is built on a rigid pavement of concrete with a thickness measuring 560mm and reinforced top and bottom with concrete measuring 16mm in thickness.
- The Apron is built to repell water. So even when it rains, water runs off the surface easily.

6. THE CONTROL TOWER: At a height of 34.5 metres, the control tower of the airport is the tallest in Nigeria.
- It is built with concrete top to bottom
- It is the height of an 11 storey building.
- The control tower has nine suspended  floors.
- It is equipped with a lift and a staircase.
- Both the lift and staircase are fireproof.
- It is also equipped with biometric security doors.
- Every room in the control tower and indeed the entire airport is equipped with a water sprinkler.
- However, the control tower has a self fire fighting system that triggers off when there's a fire emergency.

7. THE TERMINAL BUILDING: The terminal building is designed to accommodate 400 passengers. Other features include:
- A departure and arrival lounge
- There are are 36 shops in the building
- There are three lifts and three escalators
- Two Avio bridges each equipped with dual boarding passages. This means that four aircrafts can take passengers at the same time.

8. RESCUE AND FIRE FIGHTING SERVICES: The airport is CAT 9 airport
- It has three fire tenders (fire engines) that can shoot water up to the height of the control tower.
- The tenders can be controlled by the driver alone.
- The airport is also equipped with 20 water hydrants.

9. WATER: The airport is equipped with two industrial boreholes which pumps water into:
- Tank 1 - 640 cubic metres
- Tank 2 -  240 cubic metres
- There's also a water treatment plant that takes water to overhead tanks.
-The total volume of overhead tanks is 123 cubic metres.

10. POWER:  A 33 KVA line drawn from Agụ Awka to the airport guarantees an 18 hour power supply.
- Two units of 500KVA generators serves as backup to provide  power always.

NOTE: The airport was built in a record time of 15 months.

- It was built by Nine contractors and nine service providers

- It was built by the Willie Obiano led Anambra State Government without borrowing a dime.

- Also no single contractor is owed a kobo.

- The first plane landed in the airport on April 30, 2021. A plane from the AIRPEACE fleet belonging to Chief Allen Onyema, a worthy son of Anambra State.

- The airport is expected to create about 1000 direct and indirect jobs.

- The Anambra International Cargo and Passenger airport is a strong legacy of the *Willie Obiano* administration which will be managed effectively for the good of ndị Anambra by the *Soludo-Ibezim* mandate.

*ANAMBRA IS APGA.*

Most Nigerians have no concept of the significance of an A380 specification runway. Thus, most people don't understand the significance that an African runway meets the specification.

That is an A380 aircraft being able to land in such a runway of adequate length of at least 3.5KM, breadth of 60M, clearance of at least 140 meters on both sides of the runway, and a runway approach ILS Cat 2 RESA of at least 1KM. However, if you see an A380, then you suddenly realize that the regular Boeing 737 or even the massive Boeing 777 are actually toys when they stand next to it. Similar to how a VW beetle car would look parked next to an 18 wheel trailer truck. Thus, that is why few international airports meet the A380 runway & ILS CAT II systems specification.

Hopefully, more African airports will aspire to meet this runway specification so that more A380s will have confidence flying over Africa. Knowing there are many runways where it could land in emergencies. It helps to decrease airfares between Africa and rest of the world. Thus boosting the ease of doing business in Africa.

The next administration should endeavor to build a taxiway parallel to the runway (i.e. terminates at both ends of the runway) as the airport becomes busier. So that airplanes will use the runway only for takeoff and landing and not taxing on it after landing.

What is worth doing at all is worth doing well. After all said and done, kudos must be given to Gov. Obiano for not cutting corners as is typical with African airports that are only "International" in name. Yet have no facilities at all to conduct international operations safely. Gov. Obiano's determination to provide all the necessary facilities for smooth and safe international operations by day or night at this airport is a big boost to world-class aviation development in Nigeria and West Africa.

Politics / Re: Akinwumi Adesina: Tackle 73% Debt Service To Revenue For Economy To Grow by ChimaAdeoye: 5:08pm On Oct 11, 2021
Omooba77:
The president of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina has expressed the bank’s worry over Nigeria’s debt to revenue ratio.

Adesina, speaking at the opening of the two-day Mid-term Ministerial Performance Review Retreat at the Presidential Villa on Monday in Abuja said despite Nigeria’s debt to the GDP remaining moderate at 35 per cent, the government must take decisive action to tackle its debt challenges for the economy to grow.

He said, “Nigeria must decisively tackle its debt challenges. The issue is not about the debt-to-GDP ratio, as Nigeria’s debt-to-GDP ratio at 35% is still moderate. The big issue is how to service the debt and what that means for resources for domestic investments needed to spur faster economic growth.

“The debt service to revenue ratio of Nigeria is high at 73%. Things will improve as oil prices recover, but the situation has revealed the vulnerability of Nigeria’s economy. To have an economic resurgence, we need to fix the structure of the economy and address some fundamentals.”

According to the Debt Management Office, Nigeria’s total public debt, which includes the federal and state governments, had climbed to N35.46 trillion at the end of the second quarter of 2021.

Akinwumi noted that while Nigeria faces the challenge of revenue concentration due to a mainly one-sided source, he stated that structural bottlenecks that limit the country’s productivity need to be removed for other sectors to generate revenue.

“Nigeria’s challenge is revenue concentration, as the oil sector accounts for 75.4 % of export revenue and 50 % of all government revenue.

“What is needed for sustained growth and economic resurgence is to remove the structural bottlenecks that limit the productivity and the revenue earning potential of the huge non-oil sectors.”

https://punchng.com/nigeria-must-tackle-73-debt-service-to-revenue-ratio-for-economy-to-grow-says-afdb-president-adesina/

Where are those people asking for more borrowing arguing that our Debt - GDP ratio was lower than America's and Japan's. While failing to mention that Japan and America were highly productive nations that did not depend on the price of crude oil and their diaspora remittances to get foreign exchange.

Those deceitful people are now silent after they misled this country into another debt trap.

The sad truth is that the debt servicing bill will continue to rise from 73% to surpass 100% of revenue in a very short period. As we continue the mindless borrowing policy based on the dubious GDP - Debt ratio.

Each of these 65 clans have not less than 25 villages each.
The Oro and Obolo people have paid a visit to General Ditari and the Ijaw Republic Liberation Movement Militant Forces, saying that they are Ijaws and since they share boundaries with other Ijaws, the both of them share boundaries, with other of their Ijaw relations, they want to go with Ijaw Republic.
General Ditari say he will add their areas to the Ijaw Republic country map.
These two Ijaw clans (Oro and Aminadokiari (Ndoki)
Their areas are not in this map, though they share boundaries with other Ijaws.
Oro people say they are Obolo people,
And Aminadokiari (Ndoki) Ijaws say they are Ibani people.
The both of them are since, already under Ijaw Youth Council IYC and the Lovers of Ijaw Nation Organization LINO, but not under Ijaw National Congress INC since.

Ijaw miscreants are drunk on their burukutu. grin grin grin

Why are they stopping in Akwa Ibom and Lagos? Do you mean there are no "Ijaw clans" in Cameroon and Benin Republic? They should extend Ijaw land to include to South Africa and Sierra Leone where they originated. it's easy to dream on annexing people's territory. The hard part is to actually kill off the people and take their land as "Ijaw clan" grin

Eventually, these migrant fishermen from Sierra Leone disturbing and annexing Nigerian coastal towns and villages will be sent back to where they migrated from.

The airport is completed !!!
To God be the Glory!!!

Anambra International airport is the 3rd runway in Nigeria with both runway edge and CENTER lights. Only Abuja Intl. airport and Lagos Intl airport had such an international standard runway with Runway Center lights seen in true international airports in advanced countries!

The two luggage carousels are almost ready!

I am so proud of what Obiano has done in this airport! The man insists on QUALITY which makes him stand out from any average Southeast governor or even Nigerian governors.

Part of my pain with Nigerian projects were the stubborn desire to make every project in the 3rd world standard! Even while other countries in Asia and around the world modernize, we were all stuck in the 1930s - 1940s standard of airports, road design, public buildings, train coaches, railroads, etc.

It is very refreshing to see a governor that takes the pain to do things right. The insistence on installing the runway center lights to guarantee easy identification and safe landing at night as is obtainable abroad makes Obiano a true hero!

I am glad, they have decided to open the airport for public use this month. As they do the little finishing touches.

Congratulations to Anambra state!
Congratulations to Southeast Nigeria!
Congratulations to Nigeria for a brand new TRULY INTERNATIONAL-STANDARD airport in the country.

Thank you bros!

A lot of Igbo are yet to realise the monumental scale of the evil we’re facing! The wicked people that killed that poor man are cut from the same bloodstained rag as those who killed MKO Abiola and his wife Kudirat Abiola! They will brook NO opposition....especially one capable of changing the status-quo that has served them well since the late 60s!

There’s absolutely NO reason for any Igbo to want to kill that innocent man...a widow whose family has done so much to uplift the lives of Ndigbo and made us proud!

These animals will stop at NOTHING to ensure the agitation for secession is killed! And as can be seen by their reaction to attempts by Rivers State to collect the right amount of VAT owed the state....even a total overhaul of the status-quo to enthrone proper fiscal federalism is a no-no for them! They see IPOB and Mazi Kanu as the biggest threat to their hustle and they’re determined to make the south-east flow with blood in an attempt to discredit the organisation and its leader!

At first they looked at the sit-at-home in the south-east with amusement, saying it will only affect the economy of the south-east! But then it gradually dawned on them that....like-play-like-play, these ‘nyamiris’ sit-at-home will spread to other ethnicities/regions in the south! This was not to be allowed as it could easily lead to a revolution that will definitely see them losing their criminally acquired advantages in the political-economy of Nigeria! Notice how recently their minions have been all over the forum creating threads upon threads to cry more than the bereaved?

I’ve long since given up on Nigeria! It has just too many evil groups that see Igbos as their problem! And if any Igbo reading this wants a free, fair and peaceful country for their future generations, then they had better start thinking likewise! I doubt Zik or Awo would have championed a ‘one Nigeria’ with these people if they knew just how unreasonable, insular, vindictive and bigoted they actually are!

Even a fool knows its Fulani military death squad doing all these senseless killings to try and make people unsympathetic to IPOB by trying to blame their senseless violence against Igbos on IPOB.

They have already failed because its clear when you connect the dots and the people they senselessly murder.

I was at the brink of asking IPOB to reconsider, but you can clearly see that some Fulanis are so thirsty for the blood of southerners to achieve their pipe dream of dominating southern Nigeria forever.

Their next game is to capture innocent igbo boys and torture them to make "confessional " statements that they committed these crimes. To deceive the gullible and pitifully naive ones.

The Fulanis can continue their evil , bloody orgy they call "takiya games" in Nigeria. It changes nothing. They will eventually learn that no matter how many people they murder, they cannot break the will of the people.

Judgement day for all these crimes and wasting of innocent lives to play southerners against eachother or play Igbos against IPOB is coming.

The former COAS Gen Burutai joined Obiano in the weekly inspection of the airport project today.

The state government plans to commission the airport for public use this month. After they get some fire trucks currently being fixed to be functional.

The new fire trucks ordered from Germany will arrive later in the year or early next year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9_45HAJgDc&t=1850s

One hopes they will get the fire trucks required in the interim to get the airport operational to commercial flights before the end of the month. While the new ones expected from Germany can arrive later in the year. This airport needs to become operational right now under Obiano, else it could suffer the same fate as the Enugu Internatioanl conference center which was 90% completed under Gov. Chimaroke, but Gov. Chime and Ugwuanyi decided to abandon the project all the same. The best way to ensure a legacy is to see to it that it became operational under the governor that built it. Else subsequent people could be funny the way they abandon projects by their predecessors and start their own brand new projects while other nearly completed projects are allowed to be over grown by weed.

Every time Engr. Ifejiofor talks about creating a wall to separate the two avio-bridges so that one is used for arrivals only and one is used for departures only to block off arriving and departing passengers from coming in contact, i wonder why? To begin with, before you get on an airplane you must clear security. Just like before you are allowed to sit in the departure lounge, you must clear security. Therefore, anyone coming down from an airplane or anyone sitting in the departure lounge/hall of an airport has already been searched and cleared security. Thus, in airports worldwide, those coming down from an airplane and those sitting in the departure lounge are in the "SAFE" or secured area of the airport. Meaning people in an area where only those who have cleared security searches are allowed.

The second point that makes the idea of dedicating one avio bridge strictly for arrival and another strictly for departure is that an airplane coming in from Lagos to Umueri is deemed an arriving airplane. Once its Lagos passengers disembark and the passengers flying from Umueri to Lagos begin to board the same plane, it automatically becomes a departing plane! This can sometimes occur within a space of 30 minutes! Therefore, if you dedicate one avio-bridge for arrival and another strictly for departure, you will have to push out an arriving plane from the "arrival avio-bridge" to a "departure avio-bridge" every few minutes for the departing passengers to board. This is an unnecessary chaotic process. Which is NEVER done in any airport in the world. Even airports with hundreds of push-back trucks (Like those in the picture below) are not able to implement such a chaotic process of moving around airplanes on the tarmac from an arrival avio-bridge to a departure avio-bridge every few minutes! Talk more an airport in Nigeria without adequate number of push-back trucks to move airplanes around the tarmac (Apron) every few minutes!

I hope the wall the Commissioner is building to separate arriving and departing passengers at least has a DOOR that will allow departing passengers to board the plane once it has totally disembarked all arriving passengers. I don't know where the strange advice of building a wall came from, but it is definitely not an international best practice and it is totally destined to fail at Anambra International airport because it will entail the moving of arrival planes to the departure avio-bridge every few minutes which will be chaotic and A LOT of accidents will occur during the unnecessary movement of planes from one avio-bridge to the next.

Hopefully, they will cover the gutters right in front of the terminal building to make the environment decent and up to international standard.

Silly crap!

France does not have the type of power ascribed to it. Africans love evil and deceit. That is why the types of kleptomaniacs called "leaders" are all over Africa

Yes 95% of Igbos doesn't support his biafra(mini Nigeria) where the ijaw tribe will be causing trouble here and there,we they Igbos say no to that type of biafra, have shown you the new map and flag,if it for oil and gas Igboland have the second largest deposit and reserve of it in nigerdelta,I Will support your ijaw republic if kalabari tribe are not included.

Personally, I HATE any talk of breaking up Nigeria AND reconstituting a WORSE arrangement.

I would HATE any new nation that I would have to be with Ijaws, and fight endless civil wars over utter rubbish THAT THEY HAVE ALREADY PLANNED (in advance) TO HAVE A CIVIL WAR NO MATTER WHAT. Ijaws talking bout "Biafra" with "Igbos & others" is simply to use others to help them break away from Nigeria, then they will start a civil war soon after in the new country.

I SUPPORT IJAW REPUBLIC OR BY WHATEVER NAME, AS LONG AS IJAWS RESTRICT IT TO THEIR ENCLAVE.

LET US EITHER GET A RESTRUCTURED NIGERIA ON DEVOLUTION OF POWERS OR EVERYONE GO THEIR SEPARATE WAYS IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES!

NO MORE AMALGAMATION OF IRRECONCILABLE PEOPLES AND HOPING THE EXPERIENCE OF NIGERIA WOULD BE ANY DIFFERENT.

UPDATE ON THE NEW NKWO MARKET UMUNZE IN ORUMBA SOUTH LGA OF ANAMBRA STATE!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfUwBKxpwd8

Many communities benefitted from the N50 million choose your project to build themselves a befitting modern market. Street trading laws should be enforced especially in communities that now have a befitting modern market. The state government should enforce movement into the new modern market to end street trading in the old site.

Often some people are always stubborn to obey simple laws because the state does not enforce its own laws. Those still trading in the old market along the street should have their wares are confiscated by a task force, and they pay fines if they open any shop in the illegal old site. Sometimes our people will do even what is beneficial to them only when it is enforced by government.

Most of Anambra West & East axis oil wells will be ceded to kogi state eventually. For you to be wishing the state this bad news is enough to show you are not from Anambra state and you are not supposed to be Igbo and you are very wicked human being.
grin grin grin grin Dream on!

.....and you think Anambra people will just fold their hands and allow their oil in their land to be given to others just because they are Igbos in Nigeria that does not want Igbos? Just dream on ceding Anambra oil to Bornu or Katsina. No wahala, lets see how that will happen grin

Whatever makes some people think that Ethiopia can run an MRO with less-educated citizens than Nigeria with better-educated citizens.

They need to engage cleaners now to begin cleaning the floors at least twice daily. It would take at least one week of cleaning before polishing can be applied to the tiles. Also, it helps to train the janitors on how to constantly clean a buys airport with people walking around every minute. It further helps whoever is the janitors' manager at the airport to designate and supervise who cleans what and where before the airport opens to the public.
