Politics / Re: Nig Army Arrested Soldier Who Insulted Sanwolu For Arresting His Colleague by ChimaAdeoye: 1:22pm On Jan 10 |
The outburst of that lance corporal and disrespect for civilian authority is the tip of the iceberg on the rot in the Nigerian military. Nigerian soldiers are a bunch of illiterate and unruly touts. Otherwise, they would know that a "soldier" is expected to "ALWAYS be law-abiding", patriotic and to defend his country's democratic tenets to ensure the progress and survival of his country. That is how soldiers in sane societies earn the gratitude of their people and not through violation of the rights of their citizens. Look at Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso! However, in Nigeria which has cancer, even the Nigerian "soldiers" are behaving abnormally, and refusing to obey any national laws or lawful authorities. 1 Like |

So FG is still printing more naira notes to pay Federal Government civil servants salaries and other emergency naira payments by the FG. Just wait for the 2024 hyperinflation and naira devaluation. We will still come here to pretend we didn't know what caused the hyperinflation and devaluation of naira after pressuring them to pay salaries knowing there isn't any money in the treasury. They have no option but to massively print more naira and pay workers, and then deal with the economic consequences later |

Chikeluba25: Truth be told, concrete roads reinforced with 6mm to 8 mm rods are the most durable roads globally. Especially in environments with high rainfall. Those living in southern US states will attest that even their streets are made from reinforced concrete and they last more than 50 years with almost zero maintenance. Of course, reinforced concrete roads are way more expensive than laterite or stone-based roads. But they will last longer. That is why you will always find that the laterite or stone-based roads leading to a Nigerian bridge will totally break down but the tar on the bridge itself is in perfect state! It is because the tar on the bridge is sitting on a concrete base of the bridge. If the damage of crack on the concrete roads you showed had happened on laterite or stone-based roads, that spot would have since been a huge pothole covered in red mud. The issue with the Ebonyi Airport runway is that they built the concrete base of the runway without adding a very high height of asphalt to make it smooth. Actually, all major American airport runways have concrete bases, but they also spend to lay a generous layer of asphalt over the concrete so that it is not a very rough runway like the Ebonyi airport. Finally, concrete roads are built in square blocks or slabs that allow for "expansion and contraction". This is simple physics (Linear expansivity). Thus, concrete roads are not built continuously like laterite roads without giving little breaks so that they can expand on very hot days and contract on cooler days. If little room is not given for expansion and contraction, the concrete will crack when it expands and slide against itself, then contracts on cooler days. As an Engineer, the Minister should know this principle of physics. It is the reason why any bridge must have small gaps on the surface to allow for safe expansion and contraction, otherwise, the bridge would collapse on a very hot day when the materials expand. 10 Likes 2 Shares

IDENNAA: No need for drastic measures or collective punishment of everyone from certain areas that will divide Ndigbo. There are many of them who settled in Anambra, and don't have any evil intentions towards the state or its indigenes. In fact I know one that says he is from Nnewi, but I know his state. At the same time, there are some who either recently immigrated from other states or in very rare instances were actually born in Anambra, yet they have serious evil hatred for the state and its people. We already know that the one in Finland is on the payroll of our enemies to destroy Igboland with a heavy focus on destroying Anambra first. As they say, rats will only eat the food of a sleeping man. So with the awakening of our people, it will become increasingly difficult for them to target only Anambra to destroy it. I know for a fact that many of our people are already seeing through their plot. I even heard Onowu Igbo's broadcast on Facebook where he tongue-lashed some of those miscreants threatening fire and brimstone on Anambra residents and indigenes. Onowu Igbo is from Okija and previously did not agree that these guys were on a mission to destroy Anambra in particular. So the awareness and sense of responsibility are gradually coming to our people to see through their agenda. 4 Likes 1 Share |

What I will say may sound harsh, but that is the bitter truth. Actually, Tinubu is better than Buhari. Yes, I know Tinubu has baggage and electoral fraud issues, but he is a better administrator and manager of public resources than Buhari. However, Nigerian people will NEVER unite against politicians because they prefer suffering and tribalism more than their own well-being and the well-being of their children. That is why Buhari and his ministers did what they did and nobody raised a finger in protest. Tinubu will also do his own. Therefore, the looting of Nigeria must continue and the people must continue to suffer harder times, and even die in their droves because that is the consequence of loving tribalism more than the national interest. It is so sad but it's the truth. |

Soludo is gradually transforming Anambra. It is happening slowly BUT SURELY! This is the first time I have seen an Anambra governor who demystified road expansion/dualization and indeed dualizing several roads simultaneously as we speak. May God help Soludo to continue on this path of rebuilding the state and bring all his road projects to a logical conclusion soon. With the pedestrian sidewalk system he has introduced into internal city road construction, we are definitely in a new era of developing into an organized and decent society. abuzz33: Yes, we are saying the same thing. If the traders in these commercial cities are convinced that their taxes are used to fix their roads, hospitals or schools, and they are not stolen or diverted to other towns as it was done in the previous regimes. The traders should reciprocate the good gesture by supporting government through paying taxes. If these hitherto forgotten and abandoned commercial cities are now being massively rehabilitated and rebuilt, government deserves to be supported in continuing this new developmental strategy that now includes our commercial cities. Not just developing only the state capital while the commercial cities contribute the IGR for it. 3 Likes |

abuzz33: You made a good point about having a tax ID system that also qualifies residents for some social benefits such as free or subsidized ante-natal or other medical services. This is an excellent proposition in a country where proper identification of individuals exists and the people honestly want to pay their taxes to support the overall good of the society. That atmosphere is still very much lacking in our society. The issue of properly identifying people and preventing people from using other people's tax ID numbers to obtain services remains a huge challenge. Perhaps with the NIN or BVN numbers, individuals can be properly identified. However, I still see a lot of room to use other people's NIN or BVN to access services by those who are not paying taxes. There is still a huge mistrust of government and its institutions, especially in the hitherto neglected commercial cities that were never state capitals. Thus, people in commercial cities resist paying taxes no matter how little. Can you believe that Enugu City (not Enugu STATE) generates more IGR than Aba or Onitsha commercial cities? Meanwhile, Enugu city has just about 20 to 30 percent of the volume of commercial activities in Onitsha or Aba. The biggest challenge in Anambra and Abia states is that an average trader absolutely hates to pay even one kobo in taxes to the government. This attitude perhaps started in the past when successive governments neglected the commercial urban centers of Aba and Onitsha. Thus, the traders also resolved never to pay any taxes to the government. However in the current dispensation, we have seen these two states begin to pay massive attention to their commercial cities, thus it is time for traders to reciprocate the gesture and begin to pay their fair share of taxes. Soludo will be one of the greatest Anambra governors if he succeeds in the current effort to rebuild the hitherto forgotten major roads, especially in the commercial cities of Onitsha and Nnewi. This will revitalize the commercial cities and make Anambra an indeed liveable homeland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKYg30RX0Zc 1 Like 1 Share |

ANSMEDIA: Hopefully, the anti-touting efforts and other strategies to streamline IGR collection will yield fruit and block the massive leakages in the system. Anambra with the volume of commercial activities in just its key urban centers of Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, and Ekwulobia should be performing somewhere ranked between Delta and Oyo. I am glad that efforts made to block obvious leakages of IGR through the removal of touts in IGR collection and increased use of POS payment systems have shown progress. But a lot still needs to be done in this area to capture at least 75% of government revenue. 3 Likes |

Anambra1stSon2: Truth be told, Gov. Soludo is doing his best to transform Anambra cities from near slums into some of the best liveable cities in Nigeria. Yes, he does not have too much money to do everything that needs to be done or to use Julius Berger to do it, but you can clearly see his vision in re-designing and re-making Anambra key cities into well-deserved modern urban centers. My only prayer for Gov. Soludo is to stay the course and continue close supervision to ensure that the contractors meet the stated goals. He will be the greatest Anambra Governor if he manages to achieve liveable urban centers in Anambra cities that had hitherto been known to be very very poorly planned and suffocatingly congested with illegal street markets everywhere. Especially along the few tarred roads within those cities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oir3kexdJ88 2 Likes 1 Share |

Chikeluba25: We are saying the same thing and I totally agree that if Air Peace or other airlines are determined to do it, then it will materialize. In fact Anambra airport would be the best choice for it because it has the second longest runway in Nigeria and not as choked up as Lagos airport that has no space for aircraft being fixed to be parked for many weeks or months. Only a Nigerian airline can build a hanger in any airport of its choice. I just didnโt want us to keep hoping or hyping Boeing or Airbus would do it. The probability of that happening is almost zero. Not to mention that even Nigeriaโs Federal Government would immediately block them and propose the MRO be built in Lagos or Abuja airports. By the way, it does not mean that an Air Peace MRO would be constructed by Air Peace staff. Air Peace would volunteer to fund the project for the aircraft manufacturer to bring in their own maintenance equipment to maintain their aircraft in that place. It does not mean it would maintain only Air Peace planes. All the airlines using that make of aircraft in West Africa would also benefit if an MRO is built in West Africa 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Chikeluba25: When our prominent people collect and celebrate these useless certificates from irrelevant Nigerian institutions I just wonder if they are truly awake to what is happening around them. Let's face it, these people should seriously be seeking partnerships with some African countries where they would fly and could be a flag carrier for them. In fact, they could float alternative airlines registered in those African countries, and then utilize their international airports as hubs for traveling into key European and North American international routes via that country's capital city. Leaving all their operations within Nigeria and banking on being allowed to grow in Nigeria is a strategic error that they would regret in the future. Many West and Central African countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Guinea Conakry are a few that would gladly partner to have a flag carrier. Even Dangote with all his connections within Nigeria's Federal Government understood that he had to build cement factories in other African countries as a strategic growth initiative and not solely depend on its Nigerian operation as its only strategy. I personally don't believe that Boeing or Airbus will set up in a Sub-Saharan African country (Except South Africa). Talk more about leaving the national airports of those countries and setting up in their regional airports. Foreign investors are not that stupid to invest billions of dollars in immovable assets in a country like Nigeria with a very weak Judiciary and other infrastructure such as electricity etc. Only hangers built by a Nigerian airline in any airport of their choice can happen in Nigeria. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Bestmanfornow: You are wasting your time replying to a certified lunatic who is too bitter to see anything good in Anambra. He does not even know that only the beginning letter of a sentence should be capitalized. That is how backward some of them really are. Looks like you were not here during the construction of the Anambra airport when he spared no effort to show us pictures of London and Atlanta airports as what Anambra must build before he would applaud the state for building its airport . Meanwhile, he very well knew that even FG in Abuja does not have the funds for such massively extensive airport projects such as in London or Atlanta talk more about Anambra which would not be receiving as many passengers as Abuja or Lagos airports! Biko, learn to ignore lunatics and just respond to comments from reasonable folks. Although he started almost one year after we expected him to start the massive interventions on roads. Soludo is doing very well to also ensuring he has a sidewalk on all his major roads. I concede that due to so many road projects going on simultaneously, it appears to have red mud everywhere due to cars driving on laterite all over. But, you can also see that if he maintains his tempo and completes all those roads in the next 6 months, Anambra will wear a great look. Again, I love that Soludo leaves the gutters open and instead uses concrete to build the pedestrian sidewalks. Let's face it, we still have a serious refuse disposal problem. Our people still don't believe that littering the streets with trash thrown out of moving vehicles or dumped on the streets at night by residents of the area contributes to making our environment dirty and primitive. In countries where gutters are covered, they have a very efficient refuse collection system and it is an offense to drop trash on any street from moving vehicles or dump your household trash along the roads at night. However, in Nigeria, people still think it's normal to do these things. So covering the gutters with concrete without first educating the society on the tenets of proper refuse disposal and creating an efficient refuse evacuation system will simply clog up the covered underground drains in less than one month. This would bring us to square one where every drain is blocked and needs to be desilted to solve the flooding problem. The worst part of that situation would be that you will have to get construction equipment to first break all the covered drains before accessing the gutters underneath them. Which makes the process even more tedious and too expensive for any government to desilt the drainages. 7 Likes 3 Shares

Soludo is really trying his best to bring decency to Anambra. I know some people cannot see through his plans yet because most of his projects are still ongoing. But by the time all the roads he is working on, dualizing and expanding in Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi and Ekwulobia are completed, Anambra will wear a powerful decent look. My prayer is that Soludo should stay the course and supervise the contractors closely to ensure they deliver high-quality standard projects. Then he would have carved his name in the gold with his achievements. I don't want to praise him yet and will keep my fingers crossed until I see the outcome of all his efforts. Can someone verify if people are now allowed to build residential houses along the airport way? I thought the Anambra state government wanted to preserve the space along the Anambra International Airport road as a business district for airport logistics, hotels, etc. Has that plan already been scrapped now that land prospectors are allowed to build housing estates right along the airport road? Even the sand already on the road shows that it will soon end up like many such streets in our cities that will be clogged with keke and local market traffic. https://www.facebook.com/pineleafestate/videos/1796401120777160 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Which you know is a face-saving gimmick. You are the one shamefully trying to deceive yourself with Shettima's lies that Nigeria was rejected because it did not apply Everybody knows that Nigeria had expressed interest in joining BRICS to boost its economy and minimize the adverse effect of dollars, IMF, and World Bank chokehold on its economic development. In the months before this last BRICS summit, Nigeria's admission into BRICS was almost guaranteed. However, Nigeria's exclusion in the BRICS expansion is based on new considerations. Partly to underscore that the true giant of Africa is indeed South Africa and partly the unforeseen consequence of Nigeria's delayed ratification of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement which shocked many in the world! It was obvious that Nigeria was acting in the interest of the EU in trying to block AfCFTA from seeing the light of day. This behavior has shocked several African countries that expected Nigeria to play a leadership role in unifying African economies. Thus, Nigeria would have been quietly advised not to formally apply for BRICS membership because none of the current BRICS members would support its application. In the same way, when the time for giving Africa a UN Security Council seat, many African countries will reject Nigeria and choose Egypt or South Africa as the African country to represent the continent because of Nigeria's more recent behavior as a mole of the Western countries. The Western countries actually want Nigeria and perhaps France to join BRICS. So that they can wreck BRICS from the inside. Nigeria has been a great tool for Western countries to undermine Africa and the developing world. Nigeria almost singlehandedly sabotaged the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement. It took many African countries rallying to counter Nigeria's plot to kill the continental agreement due to EU pressure to kill AFCTA. Nigeria today is well known as a Western MOLE among many decent countries in the global south. Nigeria has been specifically targeted by Western countries to do their dirty jobs in Africa. Unfortunately, due to the shady characters assisted by the Western countries to rule Nigeria, we just can't do anything about being used by Western countries for dirty jobs against African progress. BRICS made the right decision to exclude Nigeria. It would have been a veritable tool for the Western countries to kill BRICS. 1 Like |

He even dared to delve into the urban-renewal of Anambra cities and demolish illegally built structures on public drainage channels. It is no small feat in a state like Anambra harboring too many powerful and lawless overlords.
