Blatant stupid lie!

Igbo would support a viable PDP candidate like Atiku to wrestle power from APC and rescue Nigeria from the road to slaughter that APC has firmly placed Nigeria on.

Politicians vying for PDP ticket should STOP equating themselves to the overall Igbo desire to enthrone good governance and prevent war in Nigeria.

Even the daftest f00l knows the DSS is behind this campaign of terror against innocent civilians to blame it on IPOB and tag them "terrorists"

In the end, they will still fail in their current slaughter of innocent people in their desperation to convince the international community that IPOB is a violent organization led by MNK. To justify his extraordinary rendition and baseless trial in Abuja.

Mind you, I personally don't like Nnamdi Kanu and his tactless manner of speaking and insulting people. But every discerning f00l knows the current campaign of terror and carnage is totally orchestrated by the Nigerian state using DSS.

With what I have seen in the east, anyone still supporting the action of UGM and their unchecked killings doesn't mean well for the east and Igbos at large.

We might not understand the economic impact of their actions till 3-5 years time. At a time when prominent Igbos are beginning to come back home to invest and build empires in igboland, the action of UGM especially the killings and sit at home is already chasing them away.

Just last week, some prominent Igbo men from a popular market in Kano went home to attend the burial of a friend that was killed by UGM in Anambra. During the wake keep, as the men where retiring back to their hotel, they were ambushed and kidnapped.

These are men well known in Kano. Now it's possible that the kidnappers have no link to UGM or ESN, but UGM have created an atmosphere of crime and violence where criminals can commit offense while hiding under the cover of UGM.

What prompted me to create this thread is that I have a function in two weeks time in the east, and all the men that I have invited who are Igbos are now calling me, sending me money and telling me that they can't make it to the east due to insecurity.

My cousin brother in imo told me that these days people don't drive flashy cars so as to avoid been a victim.

I knw of course that people will attack me and call me afonja or aboki, but I knw where am from and last month that I travelled to the east, it's obvious that the atmosphere there is not what it used to be.

Ten wealthiest Igbo, by Inter-Vlog.

Most of them are from Anambra with Prince Arthur Eze leading the pack with $5.8 billion and COSCHARIS bringing up the rear with $800 million. Though the list could be said to have some truth in it, i always take any ranking that has no official source with a pinch of salt. They left out the esteemed likes of Dr Orjiakor, NESTOIL, Uju Ifejika and Emeka Okwuosa of Oilserv, while including the likes of Rochas and Ifeanyi Uba who they claimed own at least a billion each.

Number 1 on the list is definitely NOT the richest Igboman by any yardstick. Perhaps he was in the 1980s, but he is not even among the top 10 richest Igbos today. Even by the yardstick of owning an oil well or a comatose oil company, there are others who own functional oil & gas companies today.

Hopefully, this year, they will complete the Parallel taxiway of the airport. To ensure that as it gets more airlines and becomes busier, planes do not have to be asked to hold for too long in the air due to planes using the runway for taxiing.

I am happy with the spacing between the runway and the proposed parallel taxiway. It will ensure that a B747 can be on the runway and another B747 on the taxiway at the same time without the tip of their wings ever coming in contact. That is the correct spacing for true international airports abroad.

I'm wondering if it would be better to build the Cargo terminal first. As well as the Cargo storage sheds before building the parallel taxiway. I mean at some point, they must build the parallel taxiway to free up the runway for landings and takeoffs. But I think the cargo handling facilities are really important so that Cargo flight operations at the airport can happen soon.

Very nice and heartwarming!
I see Chandeliers in the ceiling! Wow, they really want to do a world-class convention center!

Obiano's tenure is truly a watershed moment for Anambra state. He had very bold visions and totally transformed the state.

I hope Soludo has big visions for Anambra. Sometimes, academics have very small dreams of what they will do and therefore spend inordinate time chasing almost insignificant things because they are afraid of bold visionary infrastructural projects that they may not achieve. That is why Obiano stands out amongst every previous Anambra governor. He was the first that had very bold ideas of building state-financed flyovers and major infrastructural projects that typical southeast governors shied away from due to fear of not completing them. I am sure Obiano's boldness helped to spur Umahi to also launch his own bridges and flyover projects. One hopes Soludo will not relent in launching transformational infrastructural projects after carefully planning its financing. Instead of being afraid to venture into bold projects that will transform the state.

It is unfortunate that many people don't understand what freedom fighting is all about... The moment anyone make up his or her mind to become a freedom fighter such a person has offered himself as a sacrificial lamp!!!
Please I will encourage everyone to go through the history of those who had championed the freedom of their own people... In South Africa here... The great Mandela spent 21 years in prison... Now if his people had locked up their region.. Would they have survived it? The man of India was killed for this same cause.
This people are doing more harm than good to our people... Things are done with plan if you must achieve your purpose...
Now all ipob needs in this present time is political power not shouting no election and sit at home.... How will ipob achieve political power? Simple.... They should either enter into alliance with any of this political party or register their own without of course letting the cat out of the bag...
With that people who believe in the biafra vision will run on this party platform and ipob will throw their weight behind this party and will capture the five states and both the house of assembly.... By that we have control of the biafran land. Once this happened I will leave you to imagine what we stand to gain....

Please we need people who understands this
Our economy and lives can't be grounded because Nnamdi Kanu is in prison.... If they had killed him in Kenya nko? Now he has chance to answer his accusers... This struggle is not in a single man's shoulder....

Chukwu gozie gi!!!

The problem IPOB had and still has is recklessness! They used a very sacred issue as fighting for the freedom of our people and got massive support. Only to recklessly destroy everything through ill-thought-out strategies and disgusting use of gutter language and thuggery. i think the many years of military rule in Nigeria and the military mentality of the average Nigerian to abuse peoples rights made IPOB to see certain things as "Normal" which adversely portrayed their image globally.

You mentioned Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther and Gandhi. Do you think Ghandi did not know that the Queen of England supported the enslavement of Indians? Do you think MLK did not know that the White people running the Federal and state governments in the United States practiced racism? Do you think Mandela did not know that the Boers were supporters of the apartheid regime? But, they carefully did not want to go there. Since those people apply general punishment to all black people or all Indians, you will be making a mistake to respond in the same measure of labeling all their people. In that case, you have not demonstrated to have the higher moral courage to ask for equal rights and justice for all. That is the only way your argument will be superior to their own clannish argument for only their own people.

Again, these freedom fighters understood that the regimes they were fighting were more militarily powerful, had more resources, and had more tools of blackmail and ridicule them. Thus, they conducted themselves with the highest decorum, used civilized language, and above all used non-violent tools so as not to give the oppressor an excuse to introduce violence. If they had the same arms as their oppressor, they would opt for a war, not time-consuming freedom fighting! That is why people asked if MNK had an armory somewhere because you can only engage in that type of rhetoric if you are willing to confront their army of occupation militarily.

The current IPOB does not understand that there is a method to freedom fighting. They also don't understand that you CANNOT lose the support of the people that you are fighting for their freedom. Else you become a bandit and not a freedom fighter. Thus, if the people plead with you to do something, you will always try to listen to their wishes except when it's impossible. IPOB allowed the Nigerian security forces to infiltrate them and now use the same "IPOB Officials" to perpetrate many anti-people policies to make them lose support. The funny thing is that the Nigerian regime knows they cannot defeat the people but IPOB imagines it can. So sad!

You’d do well to leave IPOB alone! They rescinded their call for the boycott of the just concluded Anambra elections, which shows they’re not as autocratic and unlistening as some of you are trying to portray them!

This is a group that the despotic and murderous Buhari thugs kidnapped and illegally rendered from Kenya back to Nigeria....purportedly to ‘face justice’! We all are witnesses to how Buhari -that recently laughably claims to respect the rule of law- is flouting judges orders on respect for Mazi Kanus rights while in detention....as well as using delay tactics and outright illegality to delay commencement of the case proper! One would have thought they’re sure of their case against him and are eager to see him ‘convicted and sentenced’ for the trumped-up charges they have against him!

Knowing all this....and seeing the way the Buhari junta have marginalised, cheated, humiliated and murdered Igbos in cold-blood, one would have hoped that you, a Igbo man (as you claim), would understand Igbos position even if you don’t support their pronouncements! Even i didn’t support their initial call for the boycott of the Anambra elections, and i made my position clear at the time. But what you wouldn’t see me as a Igbo man do is try to mock or ridicule them on Nigerian social-media, knowing this dissension and division amongst us is exactly what Igbo-hating bigots are going for!

Oga Igboson, please calm down. Nobody is in doubt that IPOB is doing the right thing for the oppressed and marginalized people of Biafraland. But we should learn to do the same thing across the board so it does not appear as though we are targeting one state all the time.

I personally support IPOB but they have to shed the recent toga of anti-Anambra agenda by demonstrating equity in their orders. I totally agree with those that just want them for the sake of equity to declare "No elections" in all southeast states until MNK is released. They can call off the order on the eve of the elections to show there is no partiality in issuing orders against one state and not the other. Everybody knows and supports what IPOB is fighting for, but they must ensure that all states share the burden of the struggle equally.

They should not always remember to do so during only Anambra elections. Then suddenly forget to maintain the same stance in other elections. The order was issued during 2017 Anambra elections, but was expediently forgotten during the 2019 elections in Imo! Again we saw it in the 2020 Anambra elections and you are saying it be expediently forgotten during the 2023 Imo and Ebonyi elections? Chai, diaris God o! Stop the double standards nah?

So why are they not screaming No elections now just 10 months to the 2022 elections! The way they screamed even 2 years before the Anambra elections?

The funny thing about Anambra Airport is no matter how much you hate Obiano you will still end up using the airport, shamelessly. Now that’s a legacy project. Peter Obi who swore Obiano did nothing will soon eat the humble pie like others.
What is left now is for the project to be named after Obiano.

Peter Obi is a smart guy, so he will use the airport instead of being caught elsewhere and labeled as being childishly petty .

Of course he will praise Obiano if he is interviewed but will still stress that he acquired more lands to add to what Ngige secured i.e. Plots C and D to ensure the runway was long enough for an international cargo airport. Although the facts still remain that Obiano paid compensations on all the land and went on to build the airport.

I am fervently hoping that Peter Obi now believes in the economic potentials and future of Anambra. The jury is still out on the possibility of his Cash n Carry Next shop and Ebeano supermart being allowed to burn to the ground if they were located in Anambra. I guess the most disheartening thing was that his second Cash n Carry store in Nigeria was still located outside Anambra ! Yet same guy preached to Anambra people to bring some of their investments home to help create jobs for the youths. grin

Make dem pack the whole dustbin that is littered in every street of Awada and Onitsha Metro.

Well, Willie Obiano has less than 90 days left to be in office. It does not make sense to start launching any new projects. It's the trick used by previous administrations to launch new projects at the twilight of their term, and then the incoming administration will do the heavy lifting of finishing them. Else, they will be smeared as being bad people. Let Soludo decide his own priorities.

What Willie Obiano is doing is the right thing. Concentrate on finishing your legacy projects and let the new administration design their own agenda and their own legacy projects.

As for the refuse dumps in Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, and other cities, I agree with you that those given the contract to clear refuse from our streets be held accountable. I think the government has been too soft on the refuse collection companies. I have recently seen a lot of videos where refuse was allowed to take over some major roads. The state government should declare this as an unacceptable situation and sanction the erring refuse contractors to make them sit up.

Don't wanna dampen both you and ChimaAdeoyes' level of enthusiasm, but they're pretty much done with the inside of that terminal building! All you should expect now is the installation of the escalators, lifts and avio-bridges....shikena! I predicted a few months back that they will not have done the landscaping by the time commercial flights begin and i've since been proven right!

Fact of the matter is, the will and desire is there to do things properly as they appear on the 3-D rendering, but there are funds constraints that prevent this from happening!

Your analysis makes a lot of sense. However, some of these things will not cost a lot of money if they really think a good finishing of the project is important. With less than N5 million naira, they can buy and install some screens (Not all). I do concede that it's possible that they won't do much more at the airport since they are also under pressure to deliver the ICC within the next 3 months.

Hopefully, they can do just a little such as buying two 50 inch TV screens. One screen placed in the departure lounge for showing all scheduled and arriving flights, and one placed in the waiting room upstairs for passengers to watch TV. I know they installed a satellite dish on the roof. So they obviously planned on placing TV in the passengers waiting area for passengers entertainment. They can gradually buy the remaining screens with time.

Also, the landscaping should not cost too much to achieve if they give the contract to local women farmers from the community. Just get a few Umueri women that know how to farm and give them a contract of N1 million naira to plant grass in those open areas especially around the airport taxiway, parking lot. They also need more palm trees along the airport entrance and exit roads just before the airport tollgate. These palm trees along the airport entrance and exit roads will help beautify the airport's internal roads while driving in or leaving the airport. No need to use any big company or waste money on big contracts. If they really want to help the women landscapers, they will buy chicken waste or cow dung from the various farms and ask them to use those as organic manure to treat the soil prior to planting the grass. That will ensure it grows fast at the first rains or even ask the fire trucks to discharge their water in the air around those areas to help water the grass.

If they really understand that these little things are essential, they will find cheap ways of doing them with direct labor using the Ministry of works staff and not contracts. The problem is that they may not even see the importance of these. So thinking of cheap ways to do it may not even be a priority.

Although it is often hard to impress our people on the importance of landscaping, one hopes they will extend landscaping to all the open areas around the taxiway and runway.

Not just that grass will prevent erosion from developing around the runway or taxiway, grassing all the open areas will immensely beautify the airport and reduce dust and haze at the airport.

Absolutely, they need to grass those bare earth areas around the runway. I trust Obiano to do landscaping more than any previous Anambra governor. If you look at all Obiano's projects like the Agulu Lake hotel, he understands the importance of HIGH-QUALITY finishing and proper landscaping. Unlike his predecessors that are only interested in building a structure and just leave it there without proper finishing touches once it's a public facility. But the same people would not build their own houses and forget to paint them or plant flowers the way they do public projects.

I am more concerned with them taking time to install all the informational TV screens and check-in counters in the terminal and ensuring that the Departure & Arrival lounges are exactly as they were meant to be in the 3D design. If they get everything right in that terminal building, it will obviously be the best in Nigeria and West Africa at least.

All that is left now is to increase the sitting capacity of the Awka City stadium and complete the car parks according to the specifications of the second phase.

No need to start replicating sporting facilities again because Anambra already possessed all sporting facilities at Alex Ekwueme Square to host any national or international games.

It might make more sense to leave the stadium as Awka township stadium. Then develop an Olympic Anambra International Stadium in the New Airport City.

In that way, Anambra will have 2 fifa standard stadia. The cost of building a separate International stadium ot adding sitting capacity to the present one might not be too different.

There has got to be a roads maintenance task force to tackle the potholes and bad segments of existing roads on a continuous basis.
It will be too exorbitant to reconstruct all the roads at once. But if an operation ZERO POTHOLE is declared on Anambra roads while building new roads, it will be feasible to achieve smooth roads all over the state within 2 years.

Yes, I agree that the jobs at the airport be advertised so that the entire state benefits. Of course, the Umueri community can be given a quota as the host community, but the entire citizens of the state must be seen to benefit and represented in the employment demographics of the workers at the airport.

Hopefully, Prof Soludo will have the courage to launch the airport city project and refinery timely in his administration.

I love the Accra airport city and how they have continued to use that area of Accra to launch Ghana's economic resurgence. Those who have recently visited Ghana should upload the Accra Airport city and the types of buildings and hotels being constructed within it. What I love about the Accra Airport city area is that it was purpose-planned by Ghana for a long time, and gradually developed over several years. So no unplanned building structures were allowed within the Accra airport city even after so many years of its development.

Today, the Accra airport city is a better hub for foreign businesses in Ghana more than the Accra central business district. That is the power of planning a virgin area from the start. Anambra airport city should imbibe this strategy and map out specific structures in specific areas of the Anambra airport city.

Anambra Airport control tower

The company that did the water system understand what is meant by good finishing to make a project decent. A typical Nigerian company would just drill the boreholes and once they get water pumped into a tank, they will leave the entire surrounding dirty and unkempt like a pig farm. This dude understands that it's not just about getting water pumped into a tank, but making the whole environment decent and lovely to the international standard of a decent environment. Imagine if the terminal building area and other open spaces around the airport are landscaped like the water area where they worked. The whole airport and its immediate environment will totally be transformed to resemble something one would see abroad.

I wish the company that did the water supply systems at the airport are given a landscaping contract to re-grass bare red earth around the runway & taxiway and plant flowers and trees around the terminal building, main gate, etc. Even the landscaping with grass, trees, and flowers at the international convention center should be given to them. One of the biggest challenges of projects done in the southeast is the lack of adequate landscaping which makes them always appear shoddy or below standard.

I am very happy each time I see the water systems section of the Anambra international airport. They made sure that the environment is clean, green, and decent. So one can have some confidence in the water they pump out.
