Glad to have picked some at 504 yesterday, although I did not buy all I wanted because I was expecting a weak performance based on their Q3.

What my attention shifts to now is the SPDC acquisition. How is it being funded?
Well, I don't know about the funding.
But they will find a way.

They are now at least exporting by products.

Beautiful result N57 EPS!
With this, they can pay out almost N20 final dividend per share. I think the dividend policy was 20% of operating cash flow or 50% of PAT, whichever is lower from the US$ denominated statement.
yes, I recall they have a dividend payout policy.

PAT n EPS almost 400% Y-o-Y
Impressive!

I think last year bear was as a result of slow recovery to Forex loses across board and banks not allowed to pay full year dividend from forex.

May not be like that this year.
Bear might be limited to individual companies performances.

I think The issue with banks historically trading below BV is CBN regulation + inflation

Regulations comes in per second per second every year..
If it's not CRR reduction, it's interest rate, it's retained earnings, it's fine for violations,
It's Forex limitations, etc. These changes are strong enough that affects the balance sheet.
Within the regulatory period, investors are cautious.

I don't think observing and pointing out governance lapses of a company amounts to discouraging others from buying its stock. People decide to buy stocks for different reasons, including governance issues. Infact, it is when you are a stockholder, genuinely interested in progress of the company, that you worry and point out problems that need fixing. I would like to believe that it is the constant criticisms by both stockholders and regulators that brought about the New Oando that @Bagwa pointed out.
Fixed!!

Perhaps many live pay check to pay check due to inadequate salaries. It’s easier to invest when one has money left over after completing all expenses.
Anyway, to buttress the low income and lack of finance:
I think their job has a strong focus on research and updated knowledge on world and national economics ON-THE-GO. Though, the firm may provide infrastructure, data and financial allowance for these. At other times, staff still have to spend from there pocket based on latest happenings and urgency to break out a news or convince their promising high net worth investors.
Even normal small scale first decree university project research consumes finance just to be a bit original.

It's like the case of reporters and journalists..
An Event may happen around them outside working hours.
No time for media house to disburse finance. One has to spend from ones pocket, including logistics to capture the moment and represent the TV or media station.
Otherwise, one may be seen as incompetent and not proactive just because you're waiting for due process grin

At least he will be getting inside information which is very helpful to grow his capital or know when to exit
True.. Though some inside info can still be hard to trickle down for insiders..especially those in regional offices and remote branches.

Also, Some category of employees that can't even influence a single decision and always go with what immediate boss says even when you are against it..
it will discourage such some employee from investing. He/she will always feel his/her method would have worked as well or much better.

The Psychology of an employee is different from that of an Investor. The focus of an employee is mostly always on salary, increment and promotion. It takes time for the veil drops off or forced off.
In addition,
Some employees have no idea how strong the company is and those meeting sessions with strong/worried facial expressions from management are just to keep them on their toes to avoid laxity and almost always focus on companies weak areas which may constitute a total liability of less than 5% of equity.
But the employee perceives it as what can bring the company down and that the company is struggling or fragile.
Even when some read the financial statements, they believe it doesn't reflect the true reality on ground. That it's just packaging grin

So why will he invest in a company that can cut his salary or allowances the next month if he doesn't step up? grin

A lot of workers don't know anything about their company's stock.

I told a family friend who works at Nahco to buy 500k units of Nahco shares at N8 per share in January 2023 based on the money he got from the staff cooperative society.

Unfortunately he bought a car for Uber and he is yet to break even
Well, I can agree to this.
Employees usually focus on their little responsibilities at work and may usually operate on a very microscopic level to know the effect of their overall general input on a large scale on their company..

But a broker usually sees the larger picture at a macro level..
that's usually their work schedule.

Not company rule. Just total lack of interest in Investments.
But they go around marketing convincing the Public to invest?

Bombarding emails to customers to purchase Right Issue and public offers?

Holding webiners, whatsapp sections, public enlightenment, etc

Spending heavily in terms of time analysising companies result as they come every quarter, Being abrest of daily happenings in the political scene and world economics to stay informed as frontliners, just to dish out up-to-date research and point out recommendation to the public on weekly basis.

All these doesn't mean anything to them personally?
Because they don't personally spend money abi?

In my opinion again, It's not massively possible?
Probably, very very few of them don't.
