lmao! dinner? haha isnt that pretty late?
this dude is trying to tell me i probably have fulani blood or euro blood or arab blood.
cant we igbos just be! why we always gotta be accused of being mixed. lol
It's late alright but I finished like an hour ago lol
Yeah, Igbos are diverse-looking. So are yorubas and other groups too. There are light-skinned people in every group though the amount may vary.
Don't think light-skinned Africans are necessarily mixed - not from a generation that can be easily traced anyway, if they are mixed.
But most light-skinned AAs are usually mixed.

shoggy24:
You may want to get your facts right about statutory rape, depending on where he is. I don't think he will be committing carnal abuse. England and some state in the US age of consent is 16yrs old and statutory rape as defined by law is - sexual intercourse with a person (girl or boy) who has not reached the age of consent (even if both parties participate willingly).
You think his is bad, check out this old gizzard http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3305652&page=1.
Right. Age of consent is 16 even in some places in America. I called it 'statutory rape' because age of consent or not, a 16-yr-old is still a minor in America. A 16-yr-old would need parent's consent to say. . .commit an abortion. And you and I know most people especially parents don't buy into that age of consent crap so long as the person isn't up to 18 years of age. Well, I think the poster is in Nigeria, which is practically a lawless nation that he can get away with anything so long as he has the money, sometimes money is not even needed. But he's still wrong to take advantage of a naive girl.

He said his parents moved here at age 9 or 10. It's possible that he doesn't know, his parents probably dunno either.

LiteratureRe: Your Thoughts ,my Thoughts, our Thoughts. by chiogo(f): 10:25pm On Aug 24, 2009
Haha, it's just this thing with most naija parents. They think they know EVERYTHING about their kids even the ones who don't spend much time around the supposed kids. And they assume that their kids don't drink or engage in similar stuff. Hence, most of them feel there's no need to talk about it with their children because their 'children don't drink'. It's the same thing with sex education.

I think that's ignorant. Your child may be 'conservative' yadi yada but issues like these should still be discussed between parents and children. I personally am not intrigued by alcohol, definitely not my thing. But I would feel weird if my parents felt that there was no need to discuss it before going to college(my college is known as a 'party school' too), it's sort of belittling to assume that I don't think of it because drinking is part of life, right? haha, I sound crazy now. No, the funny thing is that some of these parents actually drink themselves(wine, etc) or maybe naija people have a different definition to 'drinking'. Or aren't people supposed to learn from their parents?

First beer at 11, na wa for you. lipsrsealed tongue
RomanceRe: Can You Date A 16 Year Old Girl? by chiogo(f): 10:07pm On Aug 24, 2009
@igboboy, how old are you yourself?

Purist:
It seems many here do not realise that in recent times, teens (of this generation particularly) have really "stepped up".

While I strongly agree that many 16yr old girls today are VERY gullible, I'll not fail to admit that there are still some 16yr old girls who think and act like 25yr olds.

I know a 16yr old girl whose precocity will blow your mind away.  She is very mature, highly intelligent, so focused and she knows exactly what she wants for herself.
Being intelligent(book smart) is different from street smarts. she can be intelligent, mature, yadi yada still doesn't mean she knows what she wants. Pedophiles will always use every excuse to justify their acts.

And you all can scream to the high heavens that it's just 'dating' no sex involved bla bla but we all know that the issue of sex will surface one way or the other. And due to the girl's naivety she'll actually believe she's in love and make wrong decisions which will lead to unwanted things. This is when the parents come into the picture and the guy's life is messed up. I would hate to see another 'sex abuse' case.  lipsrsealed

I'm not saying 16-yr-old girls don't have sex but when they do it with a guy in the same age group, nobody goes to jail and it's not considered statutory rape.
