Good day house. Please I have some questions. I applied for us visa renewal via Dropbox in Lagos since on the 29th of March. No update on my appointment schedule page, when I track with my passport number it says no update also. Is this normal? My friend said she got hers in less than a week in Abuja. This is my first time using Dropbox. What do I need to do? Or should I just wait? Thank you

Now I know why people no longer Post their transcript,u people must find useless mistake, it not about names, marriage, virgin pass port, or how your siblings get their I think d decision is with d v.O it in d 90s when ppl are not much in their embassy that when we can conclude have been to their embassy and they deny some people by just asking them ouroyof traveling and I know some people who got their visa on virgin passport pls this is 2019 abeg...... Don't use anybody transcript to abuse or insult them just learn from their own and move on
The visa officer uses these criteria to make their assessments. Nobody has said it's impossible to get a visa with an unused passport, merely that it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. The information VOLUNTEERED is not here to coddle you and tell you everything will be fine with prayer and belief; people are helping you by giving you information to the best of their knowledge. People are here to help you understand the interview process, where people are most likely to make mistakes and how to avoid them, and factors that are likely to make your application difficult to be approved.

E.g.:

Earn 150k a month, only been employed for a six months and expecting to get a visa? Difficult. Earn 350k and been employed for 3 years in the same organisation? Better. Want to use a visitor's visa to emigrate? That's illegal. Lying on your application thanks to an "agent"? Don't.

No one is guaranteeing any applicant success or failure here, but let's be real Nigerians have proven themselves to be an untrustworthy lot time and time again, so we cannot complain when we are treated as such. Even as less Nigerians are being issued visas, more are staying behind and reinforcing the negative narrative of Nigeria and its citizens.

Upset that other countries have it easier? Do your part to make Nigeria better.

Good evening, I have some issue bordering me right now. My wife and my daughter are planning to go to the USA. I had already paid for their visa fee. What I want to know now is that, is DS160 and visa appointment form compulsory for both of them or is it my wife alone that needs DS160 and visa appointment form. Kindly help me out
Bothering= to disturb, trouble or annoy (someone) by interrupting or causing inconvenience.
Bordering= to be next to, form an edge along or beside (something).

Please really know why I was denied last two weeks,my brother is a us citizen with two kids.he got an invitation letter from his school for me for his convocation
How long has your brother been in the US? On what kind of visa did he initially travel to the States (B1/B2, F1, K1 etc)?

Your refusal may have to do with your brother's status as well

19.7k overstayed in 2017 vs 29.7k in 2018 (suspected). More Nigerians are staying behind. 10k difference is a lot.

Please, I found an interview date for May, 20, 2019 but I am travelling to Japan on May 23, 2019. Please what I want to know is if my visa is approved, can I collect my passpprt back on or before the morning of May 23rd (my Japan flight is scheduled for 1:45pm)
I would reinforce to the VO that you need your passport by the 22nd using your p's and q's. Joke about cutting it super close or something. Be pleasant and communicate your urgency. If you've been approved, they can sometimes be accommodating.

Hi,
My issue is quite complex. I have an important conference to attend at the University of Virginia, USA from June 17-21, 2019. However the nearest available interview appointment time in Nigeria is August 22, 2019. I requested for an expedited interview process and was denied. However, I will be travelling to Japan on a tourist visa from May 23-June 7, 2019:

1) Can I schedule my visa interview at the US Embassy in Tokyo instead (their nearest available date is April 18, 2019)?

2) Can I cancel my previous appointment (the one I created just so I can activate the Request an Expedited interview button) on my US Embassy in Nigeria portal and use the same MRV receipt number to schedule an interview in Tokyo during my visit dates (I have to create a new account on the Embassy in Japan's website)?

3) Can I use thesame Ds-160 form that I previously used to apply for a US visa in Nigeria to schedule my new interview date in Tokyo?

4) Does my visiting Japan on a tourist visa affect my interview decision?

Thanks in advance!
1) No. You are not resident in Japan and so have no ties to the country in which you would interviewed in. The American Embassy in Japan has no way to assess your ties to Nigeria. They are not omniscient.

2 & 3) Since you're ineligible to apply, these don't apply

4) If you are being interviewed in Nigeria, yes, in as much as it gives you travel experience

Simply average out your income (total earnings/number of months worked = average monthly income)

House I need your advice!

I applied to Kansas State University to study BSc in Milling Science and Management. I have been admitted and have got my I-20.
I finished my secondary school in 2007 and I have OND and BSc in Computer Science. Also married with 2 kids and i have applied for b1/b2 visa twice and was denied.
I currently work in grain milling industry in Ghana spanning 8 years working experience.
I passed all IOAM exams modules and I am certified in 2012. IAOM means International Association of Operative Millers.

Kansas State University is the only university in the that offers degree in Milling Science and Management hence the reason why I applied to the school in order to become expert and grow in the industry.

What is my chance of getting visa with the following:

Marriage status
Already have a BSc and still applying for another BSc
Already denied for B1/B2 visa twice

Bro ntyce was right. You don't "support a course", rather you "support a cause"

Trying to use context, or semantics to claim you are right is very dangerous.

What makes one a Scholar is not his ability not to make mistakes but his ability to take corrections from his mistakes.
"Cause" would have been preferable but there is "course" as in "course of action" where course = the route or direction followed.

Hello House.
Good day everyone in the group.
I wish you all a happy New Year.
My question is: I wish to travel to the US on holidays wiht my family: my husband and 2 kids.
My husband has a bout 1Million naira in his account while I have about 3 million.
We both work, though I earn more. i work in a well known establishment while my husband works for a small time business and earns like 100K per month.
Will it be ok for us to start the visa application process?
Thanks for your kind advice.
Please do the math of what it will cost to apply for a visa, buy plane tickets, live in a hotel, buy food, entertain for four people in the US and think of how it will present to a VO before deciding to apply.

If it looks like you are putting all your eggs into one basket (putting too much of your finances into a trip abroad) you are considered more of a flight risk. Try travelling on the continent or to Dubai/Middle East, first.

Pls I work with a federal agency. I am looking at spending my annual leave in the United States with my wife (Miami). I have never travelled before. I and my wife are both first timers, we have 6 kids but we don't intend travelling with them. What are the required documents? with a bank statement of 3million, what are our chances of getting a visa?
Hi. You have 6 children and just over $8,000 in the bank. Two tickets to Miami will cost about $3,000. Hotel, transport, and entertainment for two weeks another $2,000. With 6 children in Nigeria you want to spend over half your savings? Please think through the math of your finances carefully before presenting to a VO.

Greetings to the house.
I have a b1/b2 visa that will expire Dec 14th, I used it once in 2016 and stayed for less than 2 weeks, I intend to travel for Christmas, can I put in for drop box renewal now or I must wait till after Dec 14th?

Please advise.
You do not have to wait, and I suggest you renew ASAP. They are increasingly calling in drop box eligible renewals in for interviews, and the interview dates go into next year. I suggest you read the thread to find out more

Hello house,

Great job y'all doing here. Thanks for the info y'all sharing.

I have a question please... Can a Corps Member who wants to travel to the USA for a conference during his/her service year be seen to have good tie to Nigeria..? I mean the fact that he/she is serving and needs to come back to his or her place of work after the travel be seen as a tie?

What do you think? Thanks
Unfortunately, no.

Strong ties are reflected in things like immediate family (children, spouse), job position and tenure, travel history (travelled abroad and returned at least once, outside ECOWAS). These move the needle in your favour but doesn't guarantee a visa

His history is... interesting. He tried repeatedly to get into several countries for years, travelled to the US in June, and then it looks like he has not returned.

I need advice about my mom,she went to stay with my sis who just had a baby on visiting visa and during the process her hubby who is in the military got deployed so mom has to stay for another 6months ,they have already filed for extension of stay till next year May but the problem is that her visa expires in January, how can she apply for visa renewal?.
A visa grants ENTRY into the country, it does not determine length of stay. If she is in the country legally and has applied for an extension due to circumstances she does not need to apply to renew her visa. Her passport must be valid though.

Good day to all nairalanders in the house, I'll be glad for your advice on which type of Visa I can apply for! I'm a Bsc holder in Business Edu. with second class lower division 2.2. I'm currently one of 2016 Npower Teach volunteers with a stipend of 30k monthly from the FGN. My brother along with his wife and kids are US Citizens. I have a wife and kid but no marriage certificate. I've been working as Npower Volunteer for almost 2years now waiting for permanency or vice versa from FGN. I have landed property with no C of O and no travel history. My brother is ready to send me an invitation to visit him and family in the US. Please what type of Visa did I qualify for? Thanks in anticipation.
Dude. You earn less than $100 a month (with a wife and kid to feed) and want to travel to the US? You are absolutely a flight risk and no visa officer in their right mind would grant you a visa, but sure, go ahead and spend two months' stipend on your visa fee.

PLEASE I NEED ADVISE. IT IS URGENT . MY FELLOW NAIRALANDERS . i have a fiancee in texas , she want me to come over to the states ASAp . she sent me an invitation letter from the embassy there in texas . but i do not know the next step to take . please i need directions . i will appreciate all who contributes
First, do a self assessment of your chances. How much do you earn? What do you have here (job, family, commitments) that will bring you back to Nigeria? Have you made any recent attempts to leave the country on a long term (e.g. emigrate, student visa) basis and failed?

Earlier this year your application for a Canadian student visa was not accepted. Then, between May and October you have acquired a fiancée. These may be red flags to the embassy.

don't people die in these cars ? Yoruba Mumu
I asked a question about safety. You responded with insults. Who said I was Yoruba?

You, yes YOU, and everyone like you who cannot stand to be challenged even indirectly is why we fail as a nation, and why we will continue to fail.

Every time you are asked to think big, dig deep, and hold yourself and others accountable for their actions, their products, their services, etc you think that insulting their tribe/gender/parentage is an adequate response. All it shows is that you are a coward that lashes out in fear. What do you have to be afraid of?

Think beyond yourself and your loyalties and think about others. There will be families in these cars; mothers, fathers, children. They don't care about where the person who built this car is from; they care about the safety of themselves and their loved ones. What about the ordinary citizen on the road? Nigeria is about ALL of us, including those who choose (or not) to buy an Innoson car. In order for us to rise together, we must CARE about the safety and security of people who believe differently from us, come from all walks of life

So let me ask again, and maybe this time you can muster the emotional maturity and intellectual capacity to answer the question. How do we know Innoson cars are safe?
