Arosam Has she thought of deferring her admission to the next start date? Even with NSE she needs 20 days or more to get a decision, without NSE it can take months. Best wishes Arosam: Hello Guys, this enquiry is for a "special" Friend of mine. Its been over a month now since She applied for a study Visa to Canada and her resumption date is 18th January, the problem now is that last week she received the NSE letter informing her to submit IELTS and a year statement of account on or before 14th of January. The major Challenge here is the IELTS, been that there is no schedule date for Paper based test till the 9th of January and the IELTS result she has, the score for the reading is less than 6. Please I need Advice on next course of action . Note her typing speed is super low if you know what i mean . |

Chimzy4real People usually opt for 2 years PGD, or do 2 different PGDs, so they start with 1 and immediately register for another before the end of the first one, to be able to qualify for 2/3 years PGWP. Chimzy4real: You know the pgwp is just a year. Doesn't give enough time for someone to do all this preparation. |

Hello SKEPTA, You can apply for SIN online. You’ll need a scanned copy/clear picture of your: study permit international passport and proof of accommodation (it can be Airbnb, hotel etc, house lease, basically any house address that has your name on it where the letter can be sent to) You’ll also need to input a Canadian phone number as well. If you don’t have one you can use “text me” app to get a number, or use a friend’s phone number if they agree. Officially they say it takes 20 days, but it takes far less than that. Mine was sent 2 days after I applied. You can google “apply for SIN online Canada” and the web page would come up. All the best SKEPTA: hello people, I am a student that’s just arrived in winnipeg but schools in london, ontario . I have a few questions 1. how do i get a social insurance number? 2. what sim card works in both manitoba and ontario with good data plans? 3. Is there anyone that cooks nigerian food here in winnipeg
kindly help please. |

Hello Melvin888, Most schools don’t require IELTS from Nigerian applicants/ people who had their previous study in English. But when applying for your study permit/visa, if you’re going through the NSE (fast-track) route, you’ll need IELTS. Best wishes Melvin888: Hello guys..... I have plan to apply for masters in canada next year. I heard there are schools that doesn't require IELTS examination. Please I need guildlines |

You definitely have a point. There are a few schools that don’t get affected by ASUU though. It was just a suggestion. Everyone wants to eat me up Toceenay: With the series of problems in this country, a program of 18 months can last for 3-4 years. Who knows what Canada will say by then!
No one knew US will stop Nigeria from Visa lottery.
So, I always advice anyone that wish to leave this dead country to start ASAP, so far the person has the money and wants to leave legitimately. |

Hello godguy, Not an answer to your question, just a suggestion. Have you thought of you/your wife getting a master’s in Nigeria and applying directly for PR? By 2022, one will be done or almost done if you start now. Best wishes godguy: Good day all, Please i need help on the best way to go about this: I am married with kids, my wife and I are both graduates, I have 10 years work experience while my wife has 7 years experience, both of us graduated with 2:1.
what is the best route to get study permit for both of us (target is Spring 2022):
option 1: we both apply for MSc admission while one person apply with the kids option 2: one of us apply for study permit and the other person go as spouse with the children
also, since study permit takes 35 weeks (from the site), can we start the application process now?
Thanks in advance |

Hello Heffalump, Thesis-based programs involves research so they usually come with funding. You can still apply for other scholarships different from the one attached to the program. Best wishes Heffalump: Thanks for your response bro. @the bolded, Does it mean when you apply for a thesis based masters program, there is already funding for it and you might not be qualified for scholarships? |

Hello cruzydal, Yes, he can be. But you need to show that he’ll genuinely sponsor you. He should write a strong sponsorship letter, stating why he wants to sponsor you. And he needs to show some commitment like paying your tuition and sending you the 10k cad for your living expense. If he has ever sponsored your education or supported you, you can attach proof of it to make his sponsorship more believable. Best wishes cruzydal: good day, pls can my sponsor be my uncle with different surname ? |

Hello dewale1234, You’re allowed to change your institution after getting your visa, you just need to inform IRCC of the change via your online portal. To read more about this, just google these words and you’ll see more “Change your post-secondary school in your account IRCC“ Best wishes dewale1234: Hello House
Kindly look into the below scenario
I got an admission into a university in Canada (UG studies) and applied for visa. while the visa processing is on going i saw another school (cheaper) and i applied again.
Will it be possible to use the visa (for the first application) to attend the second school or one has to re-apply?
Thanks |

None For PR, you need to get points up to the cut off. It doesn’t matter whether the point is from a college or university. You can learn more about how PR works, just google “express entry Canada” The points can be calculated using the CRS score tool. You can google it and try to simulate your score as well and see what and what you need to get up to the cut off. Best wishes Chimzy4real: Ok thank. But if i am to use to college route. What impact would it have in my pr application in the future. |

Hello Duch52 There’s no WhatsApp group. You can go back to previous info from here. At the bottom of the page you’ll see numbers, click on 1 (one) and it will take you to the beginning. There are also old threads, this one is 18 but there are others before it (you can use the search button to find them) For example type Canada student visa thread 17, and that one will come up. You can then go to page 1 and start reading. If you have any questions during or after reading, you can post it and people will answer. Welcome, best wishes and Merry Christmas Duch52: Hello everyone,
I’m new to the process, is there a WhatsApp group I could join where I can be put through on what to do and how to go about it, I’d really appreciate.

Hello afolabiao, Your mum can write a letter stating she would take over your child and sign it. You can go an extra step by notarizing it. You can also attach mushy(cute) pictures of your mum and son to your application A few more comments on your application: How old are you? If you’re mature the visa officer would expect you to have something going for yourself. Job and maybe properties. The employment situation of your parents and spouse can also factor into the decision, if their situation isn’t good, the visa officer will assume you won’t return back home (even if they know you won’t return, they still want you to prove you will return after your studies) Also if you’re mature, it would do good to attach your bank statement to the application too. They might wonder why you have your family and your parents still have to pay for everything. If your aim is to get permanent residence(PR), please make sure this 8 months course will work for you. Do you have at least 3 years of work experience already? Because an 8 months course will give you less than 1 year of post graduation work permit and that’s not enough time to gather points for the PR application. You can play with the CRS score tool (you can google it) and see if this 8 months would be enough to get you points for PR application. Best wishes afolabiao: Hello everyone, I am in the process of applying for an 8 month post graduate certificate with a proposed start date of September 2021. I am married and have a 1 year old son. My sponsor is my dad he is retired but receiving pension. He is paying the tuition for the entire program duration and he will transfer the cost of living expenses to my bank account prior to submitting my visa application. He will also submit his bank statements and landed properties. My mum has agreed to take temporary custody and care of my 1 year old son while I travel to Canada for the 8 months program. My husband lives in the same town with my mum and he is currently unemployed but intensively looking for a job.
What documents can I submit regarding my mum taking temporary custody and care of my son during my absence? What other advice can you give regarding my situation? Thanks |

As long as the money comes from his account, the transfer shows on his bank statement and the credit carries his name in your own bank statement, you should be fine. He should state it in his sponsorship letter that the living expenses (the actual amount should be mentioned) has been transferred to you. I’m not knowledgeable enough to review your SOP unfortunately. Hopefully someone here can help you. Best wishes RxOtunba: Thanks boss! I explained to my dad already that there's no need to add his company's bank statement, just as you advised. So now, d plan is to go with only his personal acct of 15m balance after living expenses has been transferred to my own account. Is it okay to apply within 1 week that the living expenses gets into my account? Please can you help review my SOP or refer me to someone. Thanks. |

Congratulations. Is it a course-based or thesis-based master’s? What was the GPA of your last 2 years of study? Please could you share more information on what you did differently in your application? It would help those with 2.2 interested in master’s application. Cheers Oduffa: I have a 2:2 and I got my masters admission to University of Toronto. You can get in if you have a strong application. It’s good that the money be transferred to you from your sponsor’s account. The point I’m trying to make is that, make sure your sponsor has money left after paying your tuition and sending you the living expenses. They expect him to have enough left to care for him and his dependents. So the money you need should not be the exact your sponsor has, your sponsor should have more than you need. I hope you understand me. Best wishes RxOtunba: Yes boss! A friend advised that the living expenses should be transferred to my own account. Or should I leave all in dad's account and submit a balance of like 16m? |

If I got you correctly, you need 27k + 3k + 14k = 44k At bank rate that’s already 13 million Naira. RxOtunba: After paying $9k deposit, remaining tuition and fees = $27k Return ticket. = $3k Living expenses =$14k(My dad will put this in my personal acct 4.2million naira). My dad's bank statement will have a balance of 10m-11m |

RxOtunba, I’m a bit confused with your figures, if you can state your total available funds properly, I can analyze it better. As for company account, I don’t know. I think generally people should avoid it. Except you’re trying to use it to prove something Best wishes RxOtunba: My 16th months living expenses of $14k will be transferred into my personal account like a week before I submit my application and first semester $9k fees will be paid too. Remaining expenses will be like 9m, and I plan to submit my dad's personal acct with 10-11m balance. Should I also submit his company acct or only the personal is okay? |
