He needs a doc that shows that he is the owner of the company (the company name on the CAC) doc. So they know that he owns the company. After that, he can use his personal account. There’s no rule that says one must use company accounts.

Ps: There is a document from CAC that lists out the owners of a company (I can’t remember the name). I know this because I submitted my sponsor’s own when I did my application. You can attach that, the company’s CAC doc and his personal bank statement.

Cheers
Mobi22:
They didn't put his name there, they used the companies name for the CAC
Eg: I hereby certify that (nairaland concept limited) in this day.............

Won't the embassy need a SOA with the name (nairaland concept limited)

Please bro I'm very confused.

Depends on a lot of factors

Are you self-sponsored? If not, who is your sponsor? How many dependants do they have?
How many years is the course? How much is the tuition? Etc

I can’t comment if I don’t know your profile and situation

Cheers

Thanks dear.

My question is

Can one be good to go if she pays 1 year tuition then present GIC of CAD $12,000 and bank statement showing about 1m naira?

The full procedure on applying for and receiving a Canadian study permit/visa can be found on this thread and previous threads. If that’s what you’re asking for, your question isn’t very clear. You can go to page one of this thread and previous threads for more info.

The GIC is showing money for upkeep. You still need to show for tuition and miscellaneous. So I’ll say yes.

After depositing the money and obtaining the GIC, do I also need to go ahead and provide my 6 months bank statement?

You should raise webforms to Nairobi enquiring about the status of your application, it has exceeded the normal processing time.

You can also order your gcms notes if you have money to spare to see what’s happening with the application. But I hope you get a positive response before the gcms notes arrive if you decide to order it.

The name on the CAC doc (as the owner of the business) matches the name on the personal account right? If yes, you’re good to go. There’s no issue with it.

Need some help here
Please would there be any penalty or refusal if an applicant sponsor (dad) is registered under a business and has a CAC (he's the sole proprietor) but his statement of account is not in the company's name but instead it has his name (dad) And all business transactions go through there (personal account)
Although he has another account with the companies name but the balance isn't as high as the personal account

So please what are your thoughts

It depends on the processing time at the time you apply. From your post, I’m guessing you won’t be using the NSE(fast-track) route. The current processing time without NSE for applications from Nigeria is 35 weeks. But the time changes on a regular based on different factors.

I got my letter of acceptance from Humber College since last month for September session. I haven't applied because I'm still depositing money into my account gradually so as not to make it look like a lump sum of money.
Is early or mid February not too late to apply for September session?

I don’t see how that adds anything positive to your study permit application. If you’re including your master’s in your application, your msc certificate and transcript(if you wish) is just fine. (My opinion)

Hello house,
I am thankful for all the information and help given here. I have been reading the messages here and I am benefiting greatly. Thanks to everyone who take the time to answer questions and address concerns!

There is something bothering me about my study permit application that I have not completed yet. I applied for a credential evaluation and it was submitted to IRCC by WES (credential evaluation body) in 2020 , at the time I was considering express entry.
I never started the express entry application, because of low score. I am now accepted into a college in Canada ,NSCC. So I will be applying for Study visa.
Main question: Will my study permit application be affected negatively because IRCC has a credential evaluation for me, that I think is only required when trying to immigrate?
Does this show dual intent? Even though I created an express entry account but did not fill in details.
Thanks for your response.

1) it’s strengthens your POF because they’ll believe the money would surely be available for your use. If that’s what you mean by strengthen then yes. But getting a GIC does not mean you’ll surely get the visa, other factors will be considered as with every other application.

2) Yes, you’ll get it back after submitting your rejection letter to the financial institution. They take some money for processing charges, some take 200 cad. Return can take up to 4 weeks but it depends on many factors.

Cheers

Philadelphia:
Thanks for your response to my inquiry.

If I may add to it;

1.) Does getting this certificate of investment improve one’s chances of getting the visa?

2.) In the event that one acquires the certificate by making the deposit, can the person get this money back if the visa is not granted? If yes, how long will it take?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 1:55am On Jan 03, 2021

Yes, it’s the same idea. You send the money from your resident country and it’s kept in your name in Canada. You get a certificate which you’ll include in your study permit application. An initial lump sum is released when you arrive in Canada then the remainder of the funds is released monthly or bi-monthly over 10 to 12 months

Hi all,
Please I have a quick question.

I will like to know how many months it will take to get my study visa using the normal process of application instead of the Nigerian student express.

I also received a mail that I am eligible for Nigeria student express and I have a deadline until 21st of January and then my application will go through the normal process.
Do I need to wait for the 21 days or I can email them to go ahead with the application normally.

In addition to what everyone has said.

Customer service representative job is a NOC C job. You need your job to be NOC 0, A or B to count towards the express entry(FSW) work experience. But there might be a way to repackage the job duties that can make it fall into the required NOC. You can read the express entry thread and also ask questions there.

My question is this, how can i get point on JOB EXPRIENCE?

Thank you for your response

Let me try to break it down:

1) Applied for PR and application is approved as per my last GCMS notes but I have not officially received PPR via mail due to COVID delay.

2) while my PR application was ongoing, I also applied for admission for further studies (Masters)

So here is my question: Assuming I get my passport request/COPR/ passport stamped knowing fully well that my PR status will not be active till I land, do I still need to apply for student visa?

Good Afternoon All,

My PR application was recently approved (got this info from my last GCMS notes), however I am yet to get an email to submit my passport for stamping.

If I get the request and my COPR is issued this month or next, do I still need to apply for a study permit or can I travel and show them at the POE my admission letter?

The reason for my question is because of travel restrictions still in place for COPR’s issued after March 18.

1) Your first option should be EE, use the CRS tool to simulate your score and that of your husband and see if any of you will reach the cut off for the last draw which was 468. You can google “CRS score tool Canada” and answer the questions to see your score. If you haven’t written IELTS yet just fill in any score (good marks) that you think you can achieve when you take the exam. If EE is not possible, you can then consider a PhD

2) one person can apply for a PhD first and take the others as dependents. So one partner can work while the other studies (my personal opinion)

3) Most PhDs come with funding from the institution. For your visa/study permit application, it’s same POF required as with other study permit applications. 10k cad for living expense + 1 year tuition. But I’ll advise you have way more above that because of your family. You’ll need to show there’s money left for the rest of the family to live on.

4) It’s not compulsory but how can they know your capabilities and profile without seeing your CV? It’s advisable to attach a well written CV

Best wishes

Hello everyone. Thank you all for this beautiful thread. I have some questions, and it would be so appreciated if I can get answers.

My hubby, 34YRO, has M.Sc in Information Technology with 8 years relecant experience. I am 32 years old, i have M.Sc with a CGPA of 4.2 and CGPA of 4.3 in my B.Sc. I am employed, but in a completely different field entirely. I look forward to doing my PHD with full funding, and I am already compiling emails to send to prospective supervisors. However, I will like to migrate to Canada with my hubby and baby.

1.What do you think is the best route for us? Should we go through EE or PhD route through me?

2. If we are going through PHD route, what is the possibility of going with my family?

3. If going through scholarship route for PhD, what is the minimum amount of POF required?

4. Is it compulsory to attach CV when emailing supervisors?

Thank you all.

My dear brother,
At this point you will know that everything is a privilege and not a right. But I feel you stand a strong chance. In my own case, I applied may 7 when my host has applied for work permit for me. Something like a postdoc you say. I am even fully funded. I was practically begging IRCC. The key is this: Apply for your GCMS. @Chocs told me to send mails and webforms based on what I saw from the GCMS notes. I got my GCMS notes twice. It was a serious case but it ended in praise. So apply for it and pray

Hello dear sister. If I may ask, by saying "diploma", do you mean advanced diploma or a graduate diploma.

If advanced, I would strongly advise against this idea as it won't fly.

If grad diploma, would make sense that you don't shoe your masters cert else, the big question would be, why would you go for a grad dip when u have a masters aiidy...

You are free to ask further questions...
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 8:53pm On Dec 31, 2020
Hello AbionaT,

You can consider the express entry which makes you become a permanent resident of Canada (you’ll need a master’s, 3 years of work experience and good IELTS score) For more information, you can google express entry Canada and read about it. They award points based on the factors I listed plus other factors, if you meet the cut off, you’d be invited to apply. There is a tool that helps you calculate your score. You can input expected scores for example if you haven’t taken Ielts and see what your final score would be. That way you can know what and what to work on to qualify. You can google “CRS score tool Canada” to see this tool.

In the case that one out of you or your spouse do not have a master’s or the required work experience you can go as a student. It could be one of you who has a master’s, it mustn’t be the both, anyone that meets the criteria can apply and take the others as dependents.

If you decide to go as students, this is the right thread, I’d encourage you to read the thread from page one to more info.

Best wishes

I did a quick google search for you. You’ll have to follow up yourself for more info.

What was your average GPA in your last 2 years? If it’s a high 2:1 or first class you might stand a chance with the Professional msc in computer science at SFU and Uni Ryerson Msc computer science

Additionally, the ones below have lower entry GPA requirements (mostly 70% instead of the usual 76%)

Acadia University

Uni windsor

Uni Saskatchewan

There are many more but I don’t have enough time to look through everything. Please use google search. You’ll find a lot more info

In addition to what lentomac has said. There are 2 types of master’s:

Course-based Master’s: no need to be accepted by a professor, most likely no funding will be available since no thesis will be done. Less competitive admission process.

Thesis-based Master’s: Mostly likely have to be accepted by a professor (90-95% of the time), there’s usually funding available. More competitive admission process.

lentomac:
Hi,

Your 2.1 is eligible to apply for an M.SC, but it's not always about CGPA, Research Potentials is very important , cos you can't just apply for an M.SC admission if a Professor has not accepted you to his laboratory.

The above brings about the below question

- Are you going for a Thesis-based Masters in Computer Science?

If yes,

Have you made attempts in Sending Mails to Potential Supervisors (Professors) for M.SC positions in their Computer Laboratory?

If a Professor has decided to accept you in his Laboratory for an M.SC position, that will give you an assurance you are likely going to get the Admission & your Application fee won't be a waste

If you go with your whole family at once, plus your dad in Canada, what do you plan to use as your home tie? Is it strong enough? If yes, you can go ahead. Otherwise, I’ll advice you to apply alone and use your wife and kid as your home tie. Then apply for them after you’ve gotten your own permit.

Home ties are things that compel you to return to your country after your studies. For temporary visa, even if they know most people won’t return, they still need you to prove to them that you will return. Examples of home ties; family, business, landed properties etc
