Hello em3kae88,

Why supply chain management? Any work experience in the field? Any degree in the field? You need to be able to explain why you want to make the switch. Convincing reason with proof. Else, it might lead to a denial just as you have rightly read.

Best wishes

Hello Guys,

I have over 7 years experience working as an electrical engineer in construction and I want to utilize the study-PR option to migrate to Canada but with a switch in career to supply chain management through a PGD program. I have read stories of visa denial when your course of admission does not match with your experience which is making me to develop cold feet. Please I would appreciate a candid advise on my situation and chances of getting a visa.

Been seeing people asking for updates about those who submitted their passports.

Some have gotten their passports back and it took 1 week and a few days.

It depends on the province. Different provinces have different requirements. If you send me a PM, I can forward a table that summarizes the requirement for each province to you.

Hello Justmellow,

Yes, I’m in the health field. I’m a medical doctor.

It’s important to know what it takes to get into the medical profession over there, that’s why I’m emphasizing on it.

Of course he doesn’t need all those exams for permanent residence, he needs them to be able to practice as a doctor (as I stated)

It’s good that he has all the information now. So he can make a wise decision.

Japaing and going to do a job you won’t be happy with when one gets there is not a pleasant situation. I know a few doctors who are doing jobs they are not happy with there.

But of course if he’s okay with not practicing in Canada then he can go ahead with the express entry.

All the best
JustMellow:

Hello Chocs,

Your inputs has been spot on. I believe him wanting to migrate to Canada isn't for the solo purpose of practicing but strictly for greener pasture. If he decides to migrate through the EE route, he doesn't need to take any of the licensing exams to be eligible but as you also rightly stated, he only has to evaluate his professional degree with MCC which is a compulsory and strictly advised bt IRCC.

Prior to the completion of the evaluation and amongst other major requirements like IELTS, he's eligible to create an EE profile and jump into the pool. If post-COPR and after landing in Canada, he still desire to practice as a Doctor, then he will have to take the licensing exams and mentioned in your post as each province have their licensing requirements/criteria.

What he needs at the stage if he intends not to look at other country but Canada is that he have to build his work experience and thereafter commence the process by registering with MCC for his certificate evaluation. MCC will then have to verify the provided information most likely from the medical school attended (or where he did his housemanship which I think won't be the case).

Are you in the health field?!

Cheers!

Hello Lekiboboe,

For a foreign trained doctor to be able to practice as a medical doctor in Canada, they must fulfill the below steps.

1. His Medical degree must be recognized by Canada.

You can check the World Directory of Medical Schools
to see if his university is listed

2. Get his medical degree verified by MCC (medical council of Canada)

3. Pass the MCCQE Part I exam (medical council of Canada qualifying examination)

4. you must submit acceptable proof of postgraduate clinical medical training before applying to Part II. (12 months of continuous, paid practice)

5. Pass the MCCQE part II exam

6. After you pass the MCCQE Part II and meet all other MCC requirements, you will be awarded the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada. The MCCQE Part II is only administered in Canada

6. To apply for a residency position, international medical graduates need to pass the National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) Examination. This exam is offered only in Canada.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Note: getting PR would not be a problem if he has the requirement as @justmellow stated, the problem is passing all these and beginning work. Many doctors go there and end up doing menial jobs (which is not going to be nice for someone who is bent of practicing medicine) He should weigh his options properly as I stated in my previous reply to you.

My advice for him is to start from the UK and if he still wants Canada he can move after a while.

if he comes as as a PR, he would be doing other jobs while doing these exams (time management won’t be easy, and he’ll need to have funds for the exams, they’re not cheap) and after he can get a job

Or he could be working elsewhere, when he needs to take the exam, he’ll come on a visa to do it. After everything, when he gets a job, he can come through work permit.

There are many possibilities.

Best wishes

Lekiboboe:

Thanks JustMellow,

Actually am quite lost in your response grin

I think I just made a Projection of what I know about Medicine (on Assumption), which I may not be totally right about.

This is his profile,

Actually, he is still in 500L, Medical Student & quite young (21-24 age range)

My direct question now is

" If after he is through going through the normal process of being a Medical Doctor, what pathway/route is ok & reasonable for his kind of Profession to come to Canada"

Thanks for your time

Hello Sharonyeah,

When you get to the first doctor. Your medical history would be taken. You will be asked if you have any health condition or if you’re on any medication. You should disclose it. Controlled BP without organ damage (kidney damage, heart damage etc) would not stop you from passing the medical exam.

Best wishes
Sharonyeah:
Good morning everyone, please I will like to know if it is necessary to inform the doctor that I have BP issue even though I am on drugs and when I use my drugs, the BP will be so regulated that the doctor may not know about it.

I am just thinking if I should disclose it or not.

An urgent answer will be appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

I second this.

He(dad) should have the money transferred to you + a deed of gift. The transaction should carry his name so it’s clear he’s the one who transferred it to you.

Best wishes
Chukwubuikexo:
A better way would be to use you Husband as the major sponsor, then have your Dad draw up a Deed of gift, stating that he is voluntarily offering you so and so amount/property out of the magnanimity of his heart in support of your travel abroad.
You can then upload this Deed of gift together with all other financial documents as your POF

Hello Baggiomarrio,

Common reasons for refusal are:
1) Insufficient funds or unexplained lump sump deposit (so a huge amount of money just enters your account, with no explanation and documents proving where it is from)

2) Lack of home ties: there is no strong factor that will encourage you to come back home after your studies (landed properties, family members, business, any valuable asset) If you’re young, like in your case, documents from your sponsor will do. They won’t expect you to have a land at 18.

3) Poorly written statement of purpose. The visa officer cannot tell why you’re going to study the particular course, why Canada, and how that course would help your career

4) Fake documents or lying in your application (eg not disclosing previous visa rejection from Canada or other countries)

5) Failing the medical examination or having a criminal record

If you have any study gap, it’s good to show what you have been during that time.

My advice to you is that you start writing your statement of purpose, it can take a lot of time. Read it and correct it as many times as possible. Make sure a guru in the house helps you review it. If you read through this thread, you’ll find tips for writing your statement of purpose.

I’ll also advice you to read this thread from the beginning, all the information you need about study permit application is in here.

You can also start gathering your documents, scan them and start shrinking the size.

All the best

Hello honorable Lekiboboe,

His best bet is the UK. He should take PLAB 1 and 2 exam and in no time he’ll land a good paying job.

With Canada, the exam is more complicated, has more steps and paper work, more expensive and takes more time. Would he be okay with doing a job not related to medicine while he goes through this process? That’s something he should consider.

Study route is only good if he’ll like to go into a medical related field that’s not clinical. Eg public health.

If he’ll like to practice as a doctor, Canada is not the best option. It’s not impossible but he should get ready for the time it will take and the huge cost.

There are public health, reproductive health courses. If his thesis in medical school had a laboratory component then he has more options like experimental medicine and other lab related courses

If he needs more information, he should not hesitate to contact me.

All the best
Lekiboboe:

What do you suggest/advice for a Graduate of Medicine & Surgery (Doctor)

If NO what route is advisable? and what are the criteria?

Hello Raalsalghul,

The letter of support is to be written by your sponsor (you can assist). If you want it notarized, you’ll then involve a notary public/court to notarize it for you.

For the affidavit of support, the court has a template.

Hello HorlarJP,

Medical examination is a part of study permit application if your studies will be more than 6 months.

There are 2 ways to get it done:

Upfront examination: you do it and submit it to IRCC before they request for it

Medical request; you wait for them to ask you to go and do a medical examination

So far, if you are asked to go for a medical examination by IRCC, it’s a positive sign. Your permit would most likely be granted.

All the best

Hello owenizes,

Getting your study permit does not depend on your brother being a permanent resident.

Order your gcms notes for your previous refusals and see what the visa officer is concerned about. Work on them and then reapply.

You can order your gcms motes from outside Canada (20 cad) or your brother can order it for you from within Canada (5 cad)

Hello Tiarazz10010,

If there’s any problem with it, they’ll contact you.
But the requirement for submission as stated by vfs is below: You can just get them ready incase you are contacted, you’ll just go ahead and submit.

VFS requirement for passport submission after PPR
International passport,
Vfs consent form (2 copies),
Passport request letter including all the requirements stated in the letter
2 copies of passport data page,
Slip that was issued after biometric enrollment (no passport transmission fee required)
Your contact information, including your email address and phone number.

You are to make payment of N7,430 for passport transmission if you did not do your biometric at the same application centre where you want to send in your passport (including applicants below 14 and above 80 years of age) and an optional sms fee of N760.
The Account name and number : CANADA LOGISTIC COLLECTION ACCOUNT (a/c no 0065165839 ) Sterling Bank.
After the process is completed from the Embassy, you will be contacted on how to make payment for the VFS in-house courier delivery process for passport return.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your refusal.

Accounting and business are not directly related as it might seem. The visa officer is wondering why you’re switching to business.

About the level, as far as I know, PGC is higher than HND. So I’m not sure what that’s about.

My advice would be to apply for a course in the accounting line and state clearly in your statement of purpose how that would help you advance in your career.

You can reapply with same course if you have a good reason for switching to business, maybe you’ve been running a business for a while and you need those skills to take your business to a higher level. If this is the case you’ll need to show proof of the business registration.

Please wait for input from others in the house.

One thing this Study Visa Journey has taught me is PATIENCE

My little advice for TRV hopefuls & Future Applicants

1) I will encourage every applicant to fulfil all righteousness when crafting their Canada study application

Remember "No Two Application is the Same" (there are many factors attached to this statement such as - different academic backgrounds, work experience, Marital Status, the Visa Officers reviewing your application & lots more)

2) Avoid any form of assumption that a Visa Officer won't need this or that, do your due diligence.

3) Show Career/Academic/Logical Progression most especially your Degree/Work Experience should be resonating with the Program you are going for

also,

Show Progression in the qualification of Program you are going for e.g
- B.SC grad (2.1) going for a Masters
- B.SC grad (2.2) & HND grad going for a PGD/PG. Cert/ Post Baccalaureate Diploma

If you have a 2.1 and you want to go for a PG. Cert, endeavor to show cogent reasons in a convincing manner in your SOP why you are going for a PG. Cert instead of a Masters Degree

4)- Assume yourself as a VISA OFFICER, assess your documents, read ur SOP to urself and point out your errors.
- Also regarding ur SOP, avoid any form of Plagiarism to the bearest minimum.
- Show Originality when writing your SOP,
- Be 100% Patriotic - don't say unpleasant things about Nigeria on your SOP, how you can upgrade your career and also help in the improvement of the Nigerian Economy after studying in Canada is very Paramount, talk about it in your SOP.
- Avoid Grammatical Errors in your SOP
- Subheadings Will make your SOP readable, don't write your SOP in Composition/Essay Manner
- Any thing you mention in your SOP, make sure you have a document that confirms it.

5) Read Success Stories of Applicants that have gotten Approval in the Past, most especially from 2018 till date, you might just see an applicant with your exact kind of profile that got approval which u can learn one ot two things from.

6) Also, if you are on the verge of starting or submitting your application, endeavor to ask questions in the forum on things u are not clear of. There are many things you gonna learn here that an agent don't know about or won't even tell you.

If you are an Applicant going for Masters/PH.D, this thread is a training ground for you to learn how to do research before the real research, so don't feel bad if someone tell you to start reading from Page 1, u gonna gain a lot.

7) Take your time and read this Thread Explicitly.
I never had an iota of experience on Canada Study Visa application. Reading this thread in my leisure period for a year helped me tremendously and this made my application strictly DIY (do-it-yourself)

cool Finally,
after Submitting your application, Talk to God to take Control/Charge of your Study Visa Processing, cos in every situation (good or bad) God will still be God.

As we all know the motto of this forum
"it will end in Praises (in frankrobbn's Voice)"

I'm wishing all applicants awaiting a decision from IRCC a FAVORABLE ONE

Remain Blessed Honorable Sir's & Ma's!!!!

Hello,

They can transfer the living expense to you(they can send more than 10k cad if they wish) the transfer should reflect their name. They can also pay your 1 year tuition. They’ll state in the sponsorship letter that they’ve done all that, then you’ll attach proof too(tuition receipt etc) . And yes you should submit their bank statement.
I’ve found that this has worked for many applicants. But it’s not the only way to a successful application though.

Hello,

You can apply, get busy with a voluntary work. If you can get something related to the course you’re going for, that will be even better.

If you’re still young, it won’t be expected that you should be fully established. Show documents proofing your parents jobs and attach proof of their assets eg landed properties.

Write a strong SOP (statement of purpose) mention you’ll come back after your studies and show how the course you went for will be used in your home country.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about her refusal,

The worth of your property does not count in regards to the money available.

Property serves as home ties (something to compel you to come back home after your studies)

The money available for studies must be liquid. That means it must be available in your bank account and accessible. She is required to have 1 year full tuition + 10,000 cad for living expenses.

Who was her sponsor? I always advise the sponsor to transfer the 10,000 cad to the applicant as a sign of commitment.

She can also pay her tuition fee ahead and attach the receipt (check the refund policy of the school before paying)

Also did you order your gcms notes to see the specific concern of the visa officer? The reasons given in the refusal letters are usually generic and not specific. Order your gcms notes to see the specific reason.

To order the gcms notes, google “gcms notes sites Canada” choose any of them and apply for the notes. It costs about 20 cad and can take up to 35 days to arrive.

Earlier this year my sister was denied a student permit. Reason being "Insufficient funds" even though funds declared pus properties were more than 100M Naira in total. We want to re-apply again. I have some Landed properties. How can I evaluate the value of these properties and add to this to the new application to confirm proof of sufficient funds?

The screen shot is from someone who worked for several years as a visa officer. It’s not just from someone. Like you said, no point arguing further. But people can be rejected based on academic performance, that’s my point.

All the best.
topacs:
There;'s no point arguing over this BOSS, this screenshot is just someones idea or opinion which doesn't fall within the armpit of the IRPA and the IRPRs (subsections 30(1) and (1.1) of the IRPA) Law as regards study permits for international applicants, the Visa officers are bounded to stay within the confines of the law which states that a decision must not be speculative, And if they must rely on surrounding facts in determining the outcome of an application that should be done with proper explanation, And dis explains why 70% of most JR cases ends up with out of court settlements and 90% success rate.

Like I already advised, the applicant is still very young and should explore the EE route...

Lastly I appreciate all the work and efforts you put in to assisting other...

Hello Topacs,
When I write things on here, they’re either
1) facts with proof
2) my opinions (and I always put a disclaimer if this is the case)

An individual can be rejected based on poor academic records. See the below picture, it’s from an ex-visa officer saying the same thing. I’m not saying if he applies again, he won’t be approved but he has to give reasons why he’s capable of going for further studies and why and how he’ll be successful.

All the best

topacs:
Am sorry to differ, the issues raised by the VO are not in line with the law under the IRPA and the IRPRs (subsections 30(1) and (1.1) of the IRPA) a futher look into the law states that
IRPRs requires a visa officer to issue a study permit to a foreign national if the individual has established that they:
- have applied for a study permit in accordance with the IRPRs;
- will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay;
- meet the requirements of Part 12 (Students) of the IRPRs;
- have been accepted to undertake a program of study at a designated learning institution (see also subsection 219(1) and the requirement for an acceptance letter from the designated learning institution). An individual who intends to study in Québec must hold a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (subsection 216(3) of the IRPRs);
- have adequate financial resources to pay the tuition fees for the intended study program and to maintain themselves and any family members during the proposed period of study, including payment of all travel costs;
- have enrolled and will remain enrolled until completion of their studies; and
- will “actively pursue their course or program of study”.

It also states that
An Officer must reach a reasonable decision and a reasonable decision must not be speculative. The jurisprudence does not allow for speculation; an acceptable decision must be reasonable and explainable

I conclude that this is a case where the visa officer err in refusing to grant the Applicant a study visa? and The Officer did not provide any reason to explain why he was not convinced that the Applicant would leave Canada at the end of his authorized stay

1. Poor Grades: What are his reason
2. Parent occupations:And so? that's no reason
3. Given family ties or Economic motives: No reason (How and Why)
4. Course and background not reasonable...This clearly shows that the officer didn't make decision based on the documents before him.

My take and advice to the applicant is,
Just reapply and pay ur complete fees if possible..
Tweak ur SOP linking ur current Jobs to ur future goals and ambition and y u feel security is an upgrade to networking and give examples..
Researches u've made in other countries and Nigeria and why the Canadian college curriculum stands out among the many schools u analyse.
Get ur reference letters, leave request and approval, pay stubs and pensions statements and a possibly a written note from ur employer that u will return to ur Job after studies, if its possible. Above all back ur application with more prayer.

Finally u are still very young, with age at ur advantage, It would be better to go tru Express Entry and save yourself all dis plenty headache..
