50calibre: Nigerian soldiers as well as the lame government, please focus on matters of more pressing concern, like addressing terror organisations like boko haram, ansaru etc and also tackling issues of electricity, poverty and a whole range of more important issues.

When would the government learn to get their priorities right?
as in ehn! That has always been the problem with our old bushmen we call leaders. Always dressing the wound and forgeting the source of injury.

But it still doesn't warrant some miscreants to force people to do what they want.

It's now that they've been officially termed as terrorists and their sponsors are also to get jail terms, that these people now come and and start shouting.

Let me ask. Wasn't boko haram already a terrorist network? Where were these groups when these terrorist were telling Jonathan to go an eat his amnesty? Are these old men becoming 'DAFT' as they grow older?

PoliticsEmergency Rule: Community Leaders Laud Military's Conduct. by chris365(op): 7:23am On Jun 04, 2013
YOLA — Governor Murtala Nyako and community leaders in Adamawa State have hailed the conduct of both the military and the people, following federal government’s declaration of emergency rule in the state.

Adamawa is one of the three states the government declared a state of emergency recently, in the aftermath of activities of radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram, others being Borno and Yobe states.

Nyako, who spoke when he received Defence Headquarters’ assessment team at at State House, Yola, last weekend, however, expressed surprise that the declaration of emergency by the federal government came to him as a surprise.

A statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brig-General Chris Olukolade, quoted Governor Nyako as saying that though the state was not expecting the declaration, he, however, commended the Armed Forces on the way it was being executed.

Nyako said there had been no report of human rights’ abuse within the state, adding that the troops had been living in peace with the populace.

He said: “The children are more disciplined and the soldiers well-behaved. The youths are beginning to see the need for togetherness and the advantages of it.”

Speaking further, the governor said the emergency rule had affected the akara sellers, suya sellers and all others who operated between the hours of 6pm and 10pm.

He said: “The state has, therefore, instituted a welfare scheme to cater for this category of people.

“The way the government of the state has cooperated with the military in ensuring security should be a model to be studied and copied by other states.”

Earlier, leader of the DHQ assessment team commended the governor for his support for the security agencies in the state before and after the declaration of emergency.

He also commended Governor Nyako for sensitizing the people of the state to cooperate with the troops and pointed to a skill acquisition programme that also benefitted women in the barracks organized by the governor as evidence.

At Konkol, a border town with Cameroon, the Wakilin Konkol, Mahia LGA, Alhaji Ibrahim Mumini Yuguda, commended the conduct of the troops deployed to the community, noting that the troops had been operating in peace with the members of the community.

He said since the arrival of the military, people of his community had been going about their normal activities unhindered.

Affirming the traditional ruler’s statement, the Councillor of Konkol, Mohammed Maji, also implored the DHQ to ensure that if there was going to be any rotation of personnel, troops of the same traits should be deployed.

He pledged that the community would continue to assist the troops to ensure peace and security.

At Gurin, Fufore LGA, another border town with Nigerian-Cameroon boundary, where the DHQ team met with the traditional ruler and members of the community, the Hakimin Gurin, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Yero, commended the troops deployed there, noting that they had conducted their operations professionally as expected of a well-trained and disciplined force.

A Youth leader, Mohammed Mara, pledged the continued support of the community, stating that information would always be provided to the deployed troops to help them in their assignment.

It is not the first time that the Nigerian military would wipe out a community.

We should not sacrifice the lives of innocents on the altar of patriotism.
guy you just keep eluding the point here. Are you trying to say that yvonne ndege is right to make such fake video and call it proof of her claims? If you can't answer me, then you are just another gullible victim of a professional foreign media.
Odi massacre and zaki biam were ordered by Obansanjo (the drunken old general), not Jonathan.
And that was when the army lacked basic COIN training and didn't have special forces to fight such battles. ''OBJ ordered that those communities be wiped out''

I think you are one of those people that know nothing more than what they get from the media. And that's really gonna get you twisted dude.

50calibre: Thanks bro! I couldn't agree with you more. Some of these sceptics here are suffering from arabophobia and all that, it's either they don't know how the Nigerian military really operates, or they are just wilfully blind.
Dude i know how they operate. and yes they can violate human rigths. But that shouldn't be an excuse for aljazeera to make up such fictitious report. it's the style of the report that makes me doubt it's credibility and not the headline.

if she truly had someone shoot the video for her, then where are the bodies of women and children? if she can show a dead person being dragged like that, then what is so horrific in showing the women and children "which is the main aim of the report"
And mind you, the video is a cut and paste from Baga and Bama incidents. which make me doubt the whole thing.
the part where she claimed to have interviewed general olukolade was the previous interview he granted her after the Bama incident.

Even though the Government needs to investigate this claim, it is not a reason to stage this kind of propaganda - which will be an advantage to these terrorists.
Remove your hatred for Nigeria for once and be honest with yourself... that's how we grow in knowledge.
PoliticsRe: Al-jazeera’s Report On State Of Emergency Misleading – FG by chris365(m): 12:23pm On Jun 02, 2013
tbaba1234: True, it is not simple but as much as possible incidents like the army wiping out a community should not be happening.People should focus on better ways of doing things instead of throwing stones at the messenger. Aljazeera is nt a Nigerian news station, they will report the news when they get it.
so when Algerian special force laid siege at a gas plant earlier this year which resulted in more than 40 dead hostages, just to kill 20 militants. it was news medias like aljazeera that said it was a surgical operation - which means it was okay. what happened was a massacre and your so called human rights watch didn't say anything cos their Governments' interests were involved.

now rewind to last year when Nigerian and British special forces tried to rescue an Italian and British hostages in sokoto (which was lead by the British). the mission failed and the same aljazeera and western media called it a failure on the Nigerian military "forgetting that it was led by the British". When it comes to Nigeria, these guys like to make fictitious reports and know that ignorant and unpatriotic people like you will accept it.

And guy, the men in the front line in this battle are special forces. if truly this guy is a soldier, then his duty would be to mount checkpoints. so has Nigerian army become so rag tag that a soldier will go AWOL to grant interview to his madam. (na die he dey)

and you don't seem to understand people's anger with this report; it looks like a boko haram propaganda "even boko haram are more professional than that". so yes, we have to abuse the messenger when she refuse to pass the message in an honest manner.

And please stop concluding that the army wiped out a community. you think that sort of thing will happen and Northern politicians won't know about it by now. men, you too freaking ignorant and annoying grin
PoliticsRe: Al-jazeera’s Report On State Of Emergency Misleading – FG by chris365(m): 10:09am On Jun 02, 2013
@tbaba1234, 50calibre and the rest. you are clearly missing the point. Last year, Reuters posted a video of a sierra leone civil war and said it was Nigerian military that was committing genocide and the whole world bought it because reuters is a very respected media. Even amnesty international used a caption for that video to make a biased report about the Nigerian military... well guess what.. Reuters later admitted that they were misinformed by their army insider, withdrew the video and apologized for their mistake.

But the problem was that the damage had been done already and it was the same Nigerians like you that stood by Reuters till they withdrew the report.
aljazeera has made the same mistake and typical Nigerians like you that never learn from the past are still siding with them. (very typical of northern muslims)

At the time when Reuters posted that video, i was among those who challenged the video because i know how the military are becoming more professional when doing their duty.

Let me ask you aljazeera supporters. have you really looked at that video? have you listened to the way she put the report? have you seen other videos that emerged after boko haram attacked villages in Bama and Baga?(if you haven't, go and watch them)
now make your own observations and ask yourselves why yvonne Ndege will suddenly make such a blatant lie?

Even though the ordinary Nigerian soldier can be harsh at times, you should know that the military specially selected well trained personnel for this operation.

Am ashamed of people like you tbaba and others. cos you've continued to allow your stories be told by outsiders "which they never do well with" and you sound like a shallow minded people undecided

know your territory so that you'll be able to fish out false reports when it happens.
PoliticsRe: Al-jazeera’s Report On State Of Emergency Misleading – FG by chris365(m):
tbaba1234: I have no business with Aljazeera and i quite frankly do not care much for them. I also think shekau is foolish and his words have little value for me and the vast majority of Muslims.

Now, the question is: why is it that by presenting a valid position that contradicts yours, the only arguments you people come up with is that i am affiliated with aljazeera or boko haram?

Alright, lets face the facts... News stations do not have access to the combat region so no videos from the war zone is expected. Now, what they have is a soldier coming forward with a claim of military high handedness.. If i was a journalist and a soldier came with such a claim, i will run it. It is up to the relevant authorities to check the substance of this claim.

Yvonne Ndege has been outstanding in covering issues in Nigeria, her reports on the Niger Delta militancy and Boko Haram activities have been nothing short of first class. She has been to the creeks to speak to the militants and she has brought some of the best reports on the BH activities in the north east. If anything, i think she deserves an award for her efforts in reporting Nigeria. IS it because she made a report that you do not like??

We know nothing about the soldier in the video but even soldiers take breaks. We do not know, when or where the interview was carried out but we do know that some weighty accusations have been made, instead of sweeping it under the carpet and blaming Aljazeera, Why don't we look at the story told?? I have little doubts that a Nigerian soldier came forward with these accusations and every news agency will look to protect the identity of the soldier.

It is not the first time that the Nigerian military has been high handed, they did it in the niger delta, in Odi and in many other places. It is not beyond them.
These photos were posted by AFP. does the first one look like a village where 3000 women and children were massacred?
Do the other photos look like where more than 3000 women and children would live?
Yes the Nigerian army have committed these kind of offenses in the past when they lacked the training in urban warfare, and thanks to the US that have introduced the "Civil-military relations course" 2 years ago, and the retraining of the military in counter insurgency,"about 40,000 have been retrained and drafted to these hotspots" the military is evolving from their old ways of operations and have taken it as a priority to always reduce collateral damages in battle.

I take it you don't know much about the Nigerian military and only know what you hear on foreign media.
And i doubt you've seen the video and taken your observations as i requested. Even if civilians were killed as claimed by the imposter, trust especially the Northern elites that are very active in these areas to be the first to cry foul. But so far, nothing as such happened yet. Or else aljazeera's man's camera would have shown more of civilian casualties instead of the cut and paste video they are parading.

we are facing a very different kind of insurgency which necessitated the re-orientation of our military to be more concerned with collateral damages.
And guy, why do you think only aljazeera is talking about such things. You seriously don't know this station.
when it comes to islamic insurgencies, aljazeera has always been the mouth piece of terrorists. (am not just accusing, am telling you the truth)
we clearly think on very different levels, so I'll leave you to believe what you wish. But an educated and exposed person will know that this report is mischievous and a big lie. and aljazeera got it wrong on this one.

and before you tell people to investigate, the first thing you're supposed to do is rebuke such lies that was presented in an appaling manner. You seriously don't know the implications of such propaganda.

don't be a slave to foreign media. have a mind of your own so you can differentiate from which is right or wrong.

PoliticsRe: Al-jazeera’s Report On State Of Emergency Misleading – FG by chris365(m):
tbaba1234: I did not insult anyone so i don't know why you would insult me. I would assume it is because of lack of a better vocabulary so you are forgiven..

By the way, it is spelt: truly, soldier

As regards the video, it is an allegation. We should be concerned about getting to the bottom of this, instead of criticizing the messenger.
I've been following your comments and was able to come to some conclusions:
1- you're either a correspondent or you're very fond of the station. (i don't blame you cos i also watch aljazeera a lot) - aside from news, they have programs that can educate one about the middle east politics and the world stage.

2 - you have become so drawn by there style of reporting that you fail to pick holes or see their errors. - in terms of being biased in some cases. Especially in conflicts 'wether civil or conventional'

3 - your are a muslim who feels affiliated with this station because they happen to be the voice of muslims other stations refuse to represent, and you feel your fellow muslims are being killed like shekau has made you believe.

Even though i've been impressed by yvonne from when she was in BBC, some things changed when she joined aljazeera like about 8 years ago.

When it comes to social issues, she reports it well. But when it comes to any civil strife, - especially when related to terrorism. Aljazeera is known to be the mouth piece of terrorism. *Osama used them during the afghan and iraqi war*, *al shabaab used them during black hawk down* etc.

now i want you to watch that video again and listen to what she said. Relate it to the caption and report. The soldier that shot the video said he couldn't move without stepping on bodies of women and children, but failed to show proof. What the video shows is clearly boko haram casualties.

And that video from A-Z is a cut and paste from previous videos that were released during the aftermath of BAMA and BAGA.

Why wear a camouflage raincoat when the said military man has his uniform? The only thing they needed to do was to hide his face - which they've always done perfectly.
And how in the world can this guy leave a heated battle to grant an interview without his superior's knowledge? And he could not even give the location where the massacre took place... Everything about that report is just so wrong.

Unlike you my friend, i only believe all these foreign media when it comes to social issues. But when in comes to conflicts, i tend to be very cautious because these firms are owned by people with interests.

So i ask you again, if aljazeera's intention is not to create chaos, why else will they air such lies and parade an impersonator?

Am not saying our military don't have their errors as well. 'heck, which military doesn't' but am more concerned with telling the stories as it is. Rather than how you feel it should be.

Sorry for the insults. And i might have made typo errors 'which you are not peculiar to', but i sure am good with my english and can pass my message across properly.

So on this one, am giving aljazeera an F.

tbaba1234: Aljazeera has been one of the best news stations in bringing news reports about incidents in the North East. Why will you criticize them because they bring news that you do not like?? Yvonne deserves some kind of Award.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that Nigerian Soldiers have committed crimes, we have seen it before. The soldier is known to the reporter so i have no doubt in my mind that he is a Nigerian soldier. If i was in his position and soldiers are over stepping their bounds, i will speak up tooo...

It does not make him a mole, it makes him a man with a conscience.

Ofcourse the FG will deny. We have to realise that the innocents are far more than the guilty.
you are a daft mofo. What do you know about journalism?
If trully she had a souldier shot the video for her, why is the video cut and paste of baga and bama battle between boko and the army.
Guy make your observations before concluding.
And if you've been following aljazeera trully, you'll know that they always side with terrorists. Starting from yemen, algeria, iraq, and somalia. All there reports are always focused on creating more chaos in violence by always reporting more from the terrorists. Make your findings and watch that video before your confused head starts to mislead you
