From the look of things seems JP wants to phase out Omeruo, Balogun and Shehu in the defense.

Wish he would have tried out new guys in midfield. We already know how the likes of Aribo, Onyeka and Etebo play. Would have been nice to get another look at Onyedika or even a see how Alhassan performs.

The attack plus or minus one or two names based on impact in the team or poor performance should be the core of our team going forward.

Alhaji Musa you're a stand up guy and a great servant of the national team but this would be a perfect time to leave the Super Eagles. Don't think he can bring anything that this current crop won't be able to do as well.

lol @ 'toomuchmoney and karma-finger'

Yeah you are right but apart from a handful of teams not many countries have great midfields like that.

mostob:
Ha Bros.... They have a good attack and defence but their Midfield is a little bit off. Toomuchmoney and Karma-finger may be found wanting when experience is needed.
Guen is good too but he is exactly not someone who can hold a Midfield effectively.
Germany won the world cup and there Midfield was decisive..
Pogba and Kante holding that Midfield was also part of why France dominated in 2018.
One of the reasons why super eagles do struggle is due to disjointed Midfield.
Midfield is very essential and that is where France are least strong.

Yes Pogba and Kante are big misses but they still have Benzema, Mbappe, Nkunku, Camavinga, Saliba, Upamenco, Rabiot solid world class players. They may not win the WC but the squad is still damn strong.

Lol @ best tools
No Kante, No Pogba & you think they’d get to the finals

From the squads I've seen so far France has the best tools to win the WC but defending champions hardly defend their titles.

My Favorite European team: Ons Oranje cool

I am for Nigeria (Super Obviously), Brazil, Netherlands and Morocco. My favorite National teams in world football from the time of my childhood.

But Ladies and Gentlemen, Watch out for Denmark too. They will cause huge headaches at Qatar if they play true to their tactical nous.

Spain is another to keep keen eyes on.

To be fair to Soludo na Seun choke Obi matter for him mouth Prof was content to only talk about budget and state of affairs in Anambra.

Clearly Soludo no rate Obi na only spirit of Christ and small parapo dey prevent am from going full vawulence mode on him.

As for the redesign he really didn't show his hand on that. Even though his tone initially sounded disapproving he later spoke about how he also did it when he was CBN governor which could also be interpreted that he agrees.

Itsrm:
I think so too. I just finished watching the full interview. When he was asked of his opinion on the redesign of the naira, he refused to comment on it. He just talked around it and said he won't go into the substance. I suspect he does not fully agree with it.

He however didn't waste time to throw Peter Obi under the bus even though he initially said he wasn't there to talk about him

This England squad doesn't look intimidating based on what I've seen of most of the players so far this season.

If they can keep most of their starting Xl fit they have the potential to make the semis max with a bit of luck.

Ghana redominated it's currency in 2007 so the true value would read

1,400,000 cedis=72k

When Nigeria removes subsidy based the estimated price of what it will be per litre currently (N420) you probably pay 21-23k for a full tank of petrol that's a lot but still well below 72k.

Segedinho:
wow.

1400 cedis=72k....huh

We are doomed in this country
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 3:04pm On Nov 09, 2022
Four actually so that 1400 is really 1.4m

larride:
It is correct. Since Ghana redominated their currency in 2007 or so, they removed three zeros from their money.

That 1400 in the real sense is 140k.

The naira is a stronger currency to the cedis

Chief check out this ANAP poll done in September

https://www.anapfoundation.com/press-releases/a-3-horse-presidential-race-and-a-lone-outsider

Atiku might be in serious trouble if his strategists don't help him stay competitive in his weaker zones (SE, SW, SS) and dominant in his stronger zones (NW, NE, NC).

In the link to the poll I posted Atiku should be killing BAT in his strongholds but Asiwaju is still a close second.

I think Tinubu's numbers in the SS especially will still go up because the whole muslim-muslim issue has died down from the initial uproar.

The fact that Tinubu who hadn't really started campaigning in September was posting decent numbers across his Strong zones makes me think the election might be titling in his favor.

However an Obi/Kwankwaso partnership would have had a realistic chance.

raumdeuter:
Tinubu can only be slightly confident on Yobe Borno and Zamfara. Kaduna Katsina Jigawa are still tending towards Atiku

Plus Atiku might win 3 SS states where the governors are not fully on Wikes side.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 12:40pm On Nov 07, 2022
Sad but true presidential debates in Nigeria are overrated in the sense like you said don't change the opinion of a vast majority of voters. Agbaje flogged Ambode and even Fashola (2007) in debates yet he still lost.

The day debates decide outcomes of elections in Nigeria you won't even need to write to beg candidates to attend they will literally come running to you.

raumdeuter:
Those debates wey dem do how e take help

1999 Obasanjo refused to debate and won
2011 Jonathan refused to debate and won
2015 Buhari refused to debate and won
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 12:17pm On Nov 07, 2022
Even though I don't like the idea of candidates deliberately ignoring debates I feel Tinubu shunning Arise TVs gathering was the right call. Why go to hostile territory where you will be maligned at every turn? It would have been like Obama during his presidency attending a town hall meeting organized by Fox News.

BAT will eventually have to go for one major debate whether he likes it or not.

larride:
The owner of AriseTV is confirmed PDP man and their bias is always obvious.

They dont have any known bad blood but it makes no sense to increase the rating of an opposition tv station when you have your own tv station.

Most Tinubu engagements are covered by TVC.

Well one is playing in the Spanish second division while one is a starter for a top European club side that's how I know.

Meliforme:
Defensive awareness and sharpness is one of Awaziem's forte, and it is one of the qualities he has above the others.

What makes you think that Omeruo is not it right now? I want to know.

Regarding Balogun, is pace the first quality you consider in a CB.

I am yet to put a finger to the reason why Bassey started games ahead of Balogun at CB position in Rangers FC. I don't think it is for footballing reasons.

Bassey is a fullback, it is written all over his game, i mean his skills and decisions. As it stands, I will pick Awaziem, Balogun, Omeruo ahead of Bassey, they will thrive better at CB.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 4:56pm On Nov 06, 2022
At the moment I can't put my hand on my chest and tell you who is better than Bassey in the CB position for the SE. Balogun who I would have pointed to some years back is not the most comfortable on the ball and also lacks pace. Omeruo is not it right now, Ekong always has a mistake in him, Awaziem still lacks defensive awareness and sharpness while Semi Ajayi is not exactly the wall of Gibraltar.

Akpoguma who one could have mentioned was definitely the weaker CB when Nigeria faced Algeria recently.

Bassey is a young upcoming player so it's not surprising you will fine flaws in his game at the moment. How many 21-year-olds not named Saliba are world class CBs at the moment? Give Calvin time he'll get better.

Meliforme:
Bassey is not close to being our best CB. His flaws in that position is obvious to the keen eye.
Bassey is best as a fullback. It is his best position for now.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 4:47pm On Nov 06, 2022
For Moffi you can argue he's has performed relatively well in a higher level league compared to Onuachu but until we see Paul in a top 5 European league it will be unfair to draw that judgment. Sadiq got injured before he could take off properly in La Liga so we can't really use league performance as basis of whether Umar trumps Paul.

Now using national team football you can't really separate the 3 forwards in terms of lasting impact and performance. That said one can argue Onuachu has had a longer stay in the national team than the previous 2 and apart from his wonder goal against Egypt back in 2018 he hasn't exactly set the house on fire with his displays in the SEs.

Personally Moffi looks more like someone who could deputize for Osimhen. I was impressed with his game against Algeria recently. His overall output and not just his goal won me over. Overall I agree that the number 2 striker position is still not cast in stone and it's still open for anyone to grab that chance.

fabyom:
By what criteria is Sadiq and Moffi better than Onachu. I am waiting.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 4:09pm On Nov 06, 2022
Good point you make. Onuachu needs tactical setups laid to bring out his strengths. Paul is an excellent 18-yard-box finisher unfortunately for him in today's modern game strikers waiting in the box for service is fast going out of service. A modern forward has to be involved in play which means you have to play well back to goal which Onuachu still struggles with.

caprikon:
Some players thrive mainly under specific systems while some others are more adaptable. Onuachu and Nacho (to a degree) thrive in a specific kind of tactical set-up. They can be good squad players but it makes no sense building a team around them.

Was because they didn't give it to SA in 2006 that has caused all this unnecessary brouhaha. Although I remember 2010 was strictly allocated to African teams to bid for. All these European countries sef that feel they are the alpha and Omega of football that other countries should not be allowed to host major international competitions.

typicalgamer:
Truth be told Qatar should have hosted 2010 word cup instead of South Africa but they did their usual political bs and awarded it to SA

It’s just a matter of time sooner or later Qatar would host the cup it just came sooner

Why did you think those Qatari billionaires are investing heavily on western football it’s for them and their to have a big standing in the Football world.

They don’t have the history to make them a household name, they have the money and resources to cover any shortcomings

Hmmm Napoli might be serious contenders for Scudetto after all. Most of their main players are not going to the WC so they should be relatively fresh. Osimhen is finally coming into his own as the main man in attack for them. Kvara looks like a potential player of the season. To add to that they have decent backups in all areas of the pitch. Spaletti is really cooking something special.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 7:41pm On Nov 05, 2022
The Europeans are pissed not because the tournament was moved to November for health and safety reasons but because FIFA awarded the tournament to Qatar. As for injuries it's part and parcel of the game. It's not FIFA's fault that teams in European leagues use the same set of players for every single match no matter the competition.
