That's the thing about all these kinds of awards they have become strictly a popularity contest based on who you like.

That Sneijder own was pretty ridiculous that year.

TheGoodJoe:

The fraud has gone on for years. Remember the Sneijder - Messi's case. Where Sneijder was brilliant at the World Cup, I think Semi finals, won a treble with Inter Milan, including the Champions league and was key in all these. Yet they gave best player to Messi.

Remember Ronaldinho in 2006. Won the Champions League and treble with Barcelona with some of the best performances ever seen in football. Then they gave the best player to Canavaro who was not even the best player on the National team.

Saw the same with Ronaldo De Lima's robbery too in 98.

I do not even stress myself with these. Mendy's case is not a debate. He was the best keeper hands down.

You dey mind them? Giving some one world best player because he won latin america principal's cup.

Organizing competition every minute like set we used to play when we were younger so they can dash their HEgoat an award.

Blueelf:
To me Copa America is just 1cm above AFCON

Na the same carpentry teams dey there. Tell me any perennial credible threat in COPA America apart from Brazil and Argentina

Even Uruguay has began to decline

At least with AFCON, it's not as easy to predict the Finals

They used that very useless pangolo Copa America to give a short hypocrite an award

Tufia!!

Truly Baloon D'or is a Pangolo Award

Watched Ekong's error this morning very terrible near unforgivable. How can a defender with his years of experience leave a ball like that? Every defender knows the first rule of defending is if in doubt boot it out.

Don't like to drag Troost because he looks like a cool guy and is good in the dressing room but if Nigeria has any ambitions of winning the AFCON then we can't afford to have him starting our games. Somehow between Awaziem, Balogun, Akpoguma and Omeruo we should be able to field a decent backline.

I know Watford won't waste time to find a new CB.

Honestly even Akpeyi that I don't rate has made crucial saves in the GWG now and then

Mujtahida:
That guy has never made any crucial save in the GWG. At club levels, he makes saves but in the GWG once our defenders are beaten, Okoye go follow them. I miss Carl Ikeme

That you continue to leave in self denial that your cynical analysis are constructive is your problem not mine.

Even your previous post which you presented as evidence in your defense you are still referring to KC's past struggles terming it period of mediocrity when you are still insisting on here and now.

Again I don't know from where you came up with the fantasy that I was comparing Awoniyi to Lewandoski and Haaland. Your supposed expertise at comprehension should have revealed to you that I mentioned the two bundesliga marksmen to illustrate how well Taiwo has done. His performance this season playing for a lesser talented team like Union Berlin is no mean feat considering that the two great strikers that surpass him play for Dortmund and Bayern.

Which league is more competitive is your opinion anyway just so you know Dennis struggled in Germany last season so using your over simplified logic the EPL is a piece of cake considering that he struggled in one and now shining in the other.

If as you claim you were not attempting to denigrate other players why complain that Dennis feat wasn't celebrated in comparison to others mentioning Iheanacho's fart? Is it so impossible to celebrate any other player without keeping KC's name out of your mouth? You need to work on yourself.

komekn:
I put it to you that you are emotive, prejudiced and seeking animosity where there is one. Essentially you are fighting with yourself and your FALSE NARRATIVE.

You make a strong claim based on outright FALSEHOOD, to quote you verbatim HAVE NEVER. A screenshot of a previous post from me early in the year says you are WHAT ❓❓

Awoniyi has done exceptionally well without doubt. But keep things in perspective, you are implying comparison with Lewandoski and Haaland.

Awoniyi from 12 games is third among 3 players all on 8 goals in the Bundesliga, Lewandoski has scored 14 goals from 12 games. Haaland has scored 9 goals from 6 games half the games of Awoniyi.

Bundesliga to is not as competitive as the EPL the best and most competitive league in the World this is not a debate but a proven fact. Timo Werner will confirm.

Then you make another false claim that I am attacking and by implication denigrating other players in favour of Dennis. I don't know how you came to that conclusion one again self birthed perception led balderdash.

NPFL is a no no for until they change the mentality of the coaches and the kind of players they recruit. The odd one might surprise but the Nigerian league as currently structured is a carpenter conveyor belt.

humility33:
Well said Brother

I love and crave for excellence so much
Just believe anything worth doing should be done with all seriousness and desire to be the best in that field

I wonder how Nacho feels seeing oshimen commanding the No. 9 shirt for club and country when in very essence He is even more gifted than the lad when it comes to scoring goals and assisting

The only hope we have from this home groomed players are those that jet out from our academics at least they still have age on their side with bit of discipline and dedication they can rise up and be among the best like Dennis, oshimen, awoniyi, Ndidi even Onyeka etc

Taking players from NPFL barely favour us in the long run though many will mention etebo and Sunday odey but this guys are barely cutting it in advanced leagues
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog:
I put it to you that you have never been constructive when it comes to Iheanacho.

When KC was doing well towards the back end of last season you first downplayed his efforts by saying he was only doing it against smaller teams when his form proved you wrong, instead of humbly saying he has done well exceeding your expectations as of then you still took little shots at him complaining why it took him all these years to perform conveniently forgetting your here and now mantra. Even to ordinarily congratulate him on winning the FA Cup your bias and ego wouldn't let you.

Awoniyi is the 3rd highest goal scorer currently in the bundesliga a top 5 league behind great strikers like Lewandoski and Haalaad. Taiwo is currently the highest Nigerian goal scorer in all of the top 5 leagues a feat worthy of commendation.

Dennis has done well and deserves commendation from everyone including you but using him as an excuse to attack other players is really beneath you.

komekn:
Your creating a narrative of from your own imagination.

I've been giving KC constructive criticism for year's same goes for me Awoniyi who I've seen several times and I am only now talking about Dennis because in the HERE and NOW he is performing excellently.

Furthermore, he's come in with low expectations nothing great was expected to from him. But he has exceeded all EXPECTATIONS.

Compare him to the " Waste Man" hyped to the high heavens and could not even get into first gear at Watford.

Ogbeni Dennis just joined this season na!

What is it and this your KC agenda? How many people have been hyping him of late?

Please also reduce this your selective posts that only show up when a player is going through a bad patch but disappear when said player is doing well.
komekn:
Thats the issue.

If KC passes wind it becomes news here .

But by comparison little or nothing is said about Dennis, If KC had scored 4 goals in the EPL they would be comparing him to Mbappe, Benzema, Salah and Mane.

Wish I could like your post a hundred times. Talent is never enough. To be world or top class in this game requires years of hardwork, dedication and discipline.

Like you rightly said when we quickly go for foreign born talents it's not because we have some oyinbo complex but we recognize that they have been brought up with the right football education and they will most likely improve their game. Many of our locally produced talents need to be ambitious and push on to succeed. Not leaving a flashy lifestyle when you are nothing in football terms.

Guys like Osimhen and Awoniyi have good work ethic that's why they are doing well. Dennis too has put his head down lately hope he continues working hard and improving his game.

Kelechi really needs to get serious. If only he appreciates how good he can be then he wouldn't be doing all this childish s**t.

humility33:
That's the problem with many of our home groomed players reason why I respect Oshimen here
Many upon getting to Europe they think they've arrived and been not disciplined they start partying, clubbing and more. Just same way we have unserious student likewise we have unserious footballers

Being that this home groomed players weren't schooled in European state of the art academics already put them at a disadvantage against their European counterparts meaning they will need to work and train extra hard to meet up but many dont know. Talents is not enough to make it possible you need discipline and hard work too

Sometimes you see us here canvassing for foŕeign born we are doing this because of the exposure, learning and rudiments of football they've been exposed to besides the real age factor. Many of our home groomed players upon getting overseas they lost it

Exactly Dennis has been spoken of highly since his performances in the EPL caught the eye.

His exclusion from the SE of recent wasn't football related I think.

andrewbaba44:
Dennis is not a forgotten man here

Well he is not a mind reader who could determine what were Kloops true thoughts behind that little comment in the end at least he got clarification from Jurgen.

drDoom3:
Oma bleeped up badly by asking Klopp to apologize.
When you use the words “small” or “little” in the context Klopp used it, it is obviously sarcastic or humorous or ironic e.g “I have not gone out today because of one small exam I am preparing for” or “I am just managing my little Range Rover” etc etc.

I suffered second hand embarrassment watching that video. Imagine getting offended by someone for using sarcasm/irony in his second language which turns out to be your own country‘s official language. It just shows that even Klopp that is German and learnt English on the side knows English language better than Oma who is a journalist from a country that has English as its official language.

But they still had creative elements in Sneijder and Robben. I don't think they have dumped their style all together but you're right that they are pragmatic.

Barryseal:
I'm talking about the old Dutch style. The real total football Johan Cryuff style, everybody is trained to be comfortable with the ball including the keeper. They dumped that style prior to 2006 world cup after they failed to qualify for 2002 Korea Japan.
In 2010 under Van marwijk, they were pragmatic with DE Jong and Van Bommel in the middle.
