Did you actually read what I posted? The fact that you even highlighted what I wrote and still say I claimed Drogba is not a legend is beyond baffling hensben: Whats fact in what he said; that Drogba is not even consider legend in Chelsea, is that what you call fact. Thank God Firminho is playing under a non defensive coach like Kloop. We can all see the Brazilians output. So using ''attacking coach'' excuse to try and downgrade Salah's performances is mute MercylessMercy: A first graduate in Covenant University or okay maybe I raised the bar too much, JABU. Drogba played with some of the most talented Ivorian players in history yet couldn't win a spoon immediately he retired pronto CIV won an AFCON. Salah is playing with some of the most untalented egyptian players in decades and somehow he has managed to drag them to an AFCON final and help qualify them for a WC in almost 30 years. Salah is on course to be one of Liverpool's greatest ever players while Drogba is not even considered Chelsea's greatest ever striker. You can't compare a nuclear explosion to a Supernova their are levels to thes things. hensben: You don’t know football if you think Salah is greater than Drogba. Right from history of football it has always being impact before stat. Maradona is consider of the greatest today is because of impact and not stat. When will salah do something with Egypt? How many final goals that led to trophies Salah have?. Let’s start from there. It’s obvious messi and Cr7 don spoil Una. When they retire what remain of you guys. It will always be impact before stat according to football history. |

You are delving into the wider Nigerian anomaly. So many things are done wrong if we start listing them today till next year it will not be exhaustive. Joebie: sir let Komekn argue his matter.
So what I have alleged here is strange as to the normal workings in Nigeria?
Do you also find it strange that people have to buy slots just go get a visa interview at the US embassy?

What you have said is not strange (sadly) but you were humble enough to say you could be wrong however what irritates a lot of people on this thread is when our resident southgate states with certainty and authority something happened whereas the existing evidence doesn't add up. Joebie: I am going to make an allegation not because I see am with my eyes, but because of how we normally do things. And I could still be wrong.
There are people in the NFF who sit down on these files and are expecting the parents of these boys to do something before they will move their hands. Why am I saying this? Because this is typically what we do in Nigeria.
For those who don't know, do you know that to get a visa interview appointment date in Lagos now, you have to buy a slot? Now we are talking US embassy things oh. When it comes to blatant crude corruption all of us know anything is possible in Nigeria. |

Gbam Vardy that has been tearing up the goal scorers chart in England nobody is begging for him. His replacement Tammy is no where near Vardy's level at the moment but he was still invited. But here in Nigeria we are already panicking quickly recalling Odion just because we are facing Liberia and Cape Verde instead of giving guys like Awoniyi, Sadiq and so many others to make a mark in the SE. Danielnino00: You dey mind that guy... He is so desperate to convince people that Rohr is doing the right thing...
Imagine, after his talk about England regretting taking rookies like Saka to the Euros, those rookies are still in the team... Old man Vardy who is England best striker after Kane hasn't been recalled for any reason...Rather,it's another rookie,Tammy Abraham that's being called up... |

Would have been hard for Olisadebe to break into the team then sha. We already had a packed forward line that included Kanu, Agali, Aghahowa and Yakubu. Soon after Osaze and Martins also joined the group so egbon it's just as well Emma opted for Canada the same scenario currently playing out with Ugbo who has chosen Canada. Kog45: Emma Olisadebe got his polish citizenship with Polish government involvement.
Emma was a player Nigeria missed...I asked him as a friend why?Emma said he will never get the chance to play for Nigeria cos he has seen talents that Nigeria never gave enough chances to show case their talents.....He don't see any reason why highly talented Sunday Johnson who was better should always be on the bench for Pius Ikedia during Sydney 2000......He cited James Obiorah case and really surprised that highly talented James couldn't get enough opportunities and when he does it was cleared he was not wanted.
Emma was a pure class, the first university student I saw and I told him straight that what are you doing in the school with this crazy talent....he was selected for world university games as a street footballer alongside Seyi Olofinjana(Lautech)James Jigbale(OAU) and NPFL highest goal scorer Edith Agoye(UI)but was rated than Edith Agoye during world university games.
After World University games, coach Fanny Amu who led the team to world university game told him pointblank that he must sign for a club in Nigeria,he moved to Jasper United and shake Nigeria league, then proceeded to Poland to sign a professional contract with polonia Warsaw. He was the first black player to play for Poland national team and represented polish team in 2002 WC. |

Past exploits can be useful in forming a holistic picture of a player. For instance if I only judge Mikel on current form or his performances 2 years ago one might come to the false conclusion that he was average. Using past metrics while not ignoring current form I feel gives one an accurate view of who a player is. TheGoodJoe:
I think when we are rating players, it should be strictly on current form. If not we could make misleading judgements. If we add previous exploits, the Pirlo, Maradona and Pele should be making starting Eleven.
Previous exploits is a tool for bias. |

First of all kudos for coming up with an assessment. I like Musa but I would class him as average reason being even at his best he blows hot and cold too much today he looks likes prime Ronaldo de lima tomorrow daniel james too inconsistent to be above average. I will rate Iwobi top class if we are judging only his performances in the SE. Osimhen still has more to do before we can authoritatively call him world class but definitely top class. Chukwueze and Ejuke are still in the above average state for now but they can surely improve. Other than the above mentioned ones everything else is fine. Napoleon55: Note that i didn't based my rating on current form alone,
Musa of today is below average,i can't argue that, he is not even suppose to still b in the team, but u can't just throw away all his past exploits n rate him on his recent performance. A litle bit above average on his whole career is better .
I can still rate iwobi and iheanachoi as above average at least for SEs,their problem is their inconsistency.
Ighalo is an an average player, now and in d past.
I only rate osimhen as almost world class based on this season.
By the way i have always maintained here whenever they start singing about the abundance of talents we parade, that we no longer have the kind of players we use to parade in d past, that most our players r average.
But we still have atleast 3 top players in osimhen, ndidi and chukwueze, now ejuke is included. With 3 top players in your team is enough for any tournaments. That's my opinion. |

you dey mind them. Ighalo did well for one year but he's now suddenly the gold standard for present SE strikers. If Victor Moses also came back I would understand because of our present difficulties creating enough chances for our strikers but Odion is unlikely to be the short term solution if we still struggle to fashion out chances. Danielnino00: How many goals did Ighalo himself score in his first 10 games for the super eagles?
If you carried this same mentality into the past when Ighalo was still fresh in the national team, then he wouldn't have had any career with the national team to begin with... |

Don't fret Odion is the missing creative spark in the team I'm expecting nothing less than 4 assists from Ighalo The irony of this whole matter is the same Ighalo who some people are clamoring for got constant support and playing time for almost 3/4 years before he hit his goal scoring form. You haven't given any of the other striking options excluding Osimhen and KC a run of games to click and you are complaining about your other options lacking experience ment! Anyways welcome back Ighalo hope Rohr utilizes you well 2lola:

Rohr is just lazy to do the work of coming up with a formation that brings out the best in our forwards. Infact just change the name from Ighalo to any other ex-player and the statement will ring true. jihday: When asked why he’s trying to recall ighalo he said ‘we miss his leadership, we miss his experience, we miss his goals we have a lot young strikers and they could learn from him’.
The way this man is describing Ighalo I had to make sure he’s not talking about Luis Suarez. I think he doesn’t have faith in his present crop of strikers which is very bad |

We don't have AMs that is the brutal truth. How many african AMs do you know at the moment that play for top clubs? Based on eye test Amoo is obviously gifted. Let him come and be assessed. Nobody is saying we should just dash him the AM position in the starting XI. Boy is a potential solution to the SE creative problems. 12large1: So, if he isn’t a generational talent why are some of you suggesting a Swedish backwater league player for SE. let him prove himself at a better league and he will be invited |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 1:23pm On Oct 29, 2021 |
These kinds of AMs are generational talents that come every once in a blue moon so it's a little unfair to judge the boy against those great players. Personally it wouldn't hurt to invite him and see what he can do because like I said earlier the AM position is threadbare at the moment. 12large1: When I think of am, I am referring to Zidane, rui costa, kaka, iniesta players that dictate the tempo of a game. Is amoo like any of these 4 players or he is just another dribbling winger? I don’t rate Swedish league so I cannot vouch for his quality |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 12:44pm On Oct 29, 2021 |
Yes it's premature to start declaring Amoo is better than any winger at the moment. That said the boy has skills and has been good in an admittedly poorer Swedish league but talents like him deserve a closer look. It's not like we have AMs killing it everywhere at the moment 12large1: You can say that he is better than Simon when he hasn’t backed it up even at Belgium league, let alone French league. Trust me, as soon as he proves himself at a decent league, he would be invited. You can’t compare his case to an ex United player |

Excellent take. Wish I could buy you nice cold drink of your choice. By the time they dish out Rohr's medicine to him nobody will tell him before he stops those nonsense belittling comments. 12large1: If I was super eagles superstars like osimehn and Ndidi, anytime Rohr downplay them to their direct rival, I would reciprocate similar behavior. For example Interviewer: Congratulations osimehn on your hat trick vs senegal Osimehn: Yes, thank you… our coach might not be as good as Senegal coach, but the players collectively believed in each other and assisted me to score important goals…. Let Rohr take a dose of his own medicine. |
