Honestly I will never understand such sentiments. Yes you can be dissapointed with team performances but wishing they lose and you call yourself a fan? SMH

kellycute:
there are some people in this thread that want us to lose tomorrow and they know themselves. I wonder what they want to gain from it.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 1:57pm On Nov 15, 2021
It was terrible. The Ghanaians enjoyed the usual rub of the green decisions from the referee that home teams benefit from but the simulation and penalty decision is too blatant to ignore
TMKsouth:
I missed the game. If that's the case dude, then SAFA should definitely make a lot of noise about it.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 1:53pm On Nov 15, 2021
I think SAFA should. Not that it would change anything as far as the current qualifiers are concerned but at least let it be noted by FIFA to avoid a re-occurrence in future
TMKsouth:
Are we appealing?

Cohbams sitting comfortably on a chair backing the TV could see that wasn't a pen. Nigerian officials had better note the names of the ref for the Ghana and DRC games make dey no go officiate any of our matches for AFCON or the WC playoffs when we hopefully qualify.

[quote author=Subzero047 post=107632977]Wow I've seen the Ghana penalty that's a pure yellow card for simulation

grin grin grin The fear of losing should motivate our players I trust Lagos fans they won't stomach rubbish

Provalker:
I suggest the stadium to be used for tomorrow's match be filled up to capacity. That way loosing will not be an option for the eagles.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 7:23am On Nov 15, 2021
Men if this happens I'll be glad for them. At least one country won't be denied because of a dodgy penalty

Ppogbae:
DRC could be disqualified as they made 4 substitutions at four different stoppage in the 2nd half.

Benin has appealed and a DQ could be imminent.
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 8:45pm On Nov 14, 2021
The penalty award was a joke sha really terrible piece of referring
Ppogbae:
I hope Rohr is watching lol. Ghana has completely shunned any prospect of SA getting a chance at goal, let alone play in their half

Well you're entitled to your opinion.

Ebuehi is defensively more assured than Aina from the games I've seen of both of them. Plus it's not about shifting focus to anyone I'm just giving my honest assessment of Awaziem and Ola in the RB role.

andrewbaba44:
Ola aina is better than awaziem at RB

Awaziem is a CB

You didn’t say anything about Ebuehi ,shebi Na Ebuehi before ,it looks like the focus have been shifted to awaziem grin

Going by club form Moses Simon is SE best winger but we are not ready for that discussion grin
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 2:49pm On Nov 13, 2021
I probably won't describe his performances as disaster classes but I would be lying if I said he impressed me. The few times he really stood out he played at LB though he still struggled defensively. Ola is gifted and can improve in the SE but saying he's our best RB using performances in the national team as a metric is a big fallacy.

Subzero047:
All these Aina proponents I challenge you to name one good match of his for the SE except from the Burundi match, he has more disasterclasses than he has good matches for the SE
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 2:40pm On Nov 13, 2021
my guy Andrew I've watched Aina numerous times in the SE and truth be told there isn't a chasm of difference in their performances.

Chidozie the few times I've seen at RB has been very solid and also contributed to our attack remember the cross for musa that led to the goal against cameroon and the assist for Balogun against CAR. Aina for all his attacking forays in the RB role has only positively contributed goal wise once the penalty he won against Benin two years ago. I didn't forget his lovely assist for Ighalo against Burundi just stating how he has fair strictly at RB. Defensively also I find Awaziem more solid. Ola initially struggled but I would admit he has improved in the physical duels. Ola is undisputedly more suited to the RB role than Chidozie but he's yet to really show enough of those attacking attributes his fans on this thread rave on about.

For the record I agree wholeheartedly that Awaziem and Ola should play often in their natural positions to build momentum and consistency.

andrewbaba44:
Awaziem has always been a cb for his club and played Rb most times for the eagles and he is not better than aina which is his natural position

Ebuehi is not better than aina and I don’t need to give you eyeglasses to confirm that ,so what exactly should I be arguing with you ?

No be only facts Na fart

Instead of you to keep on researching why rohr didn’t call Ebuehi you are looking for a way to diss aina ,something you always failed at grin
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 12:39pm On Nov 13, 2021
Infact our entire backline then (except for Keshi) based on where they played their club football could be classed as carpenters using standards on this thread.

Oliseh I think was in some small club like that in belgium. Honestly based on club pedigree alone our 1994 squad shouldn't have been rated.

Like you rightly said Clemens infused them with a mindset of winners.

Mujtahida:
No difference whatsoever. Any nation will most likely say the players of the past are better than their present crop of players. Brazil will say so, France will say so, Netherlands will say so, Spain will say so. It's no excuse for the coach to keep seeing his team as losers. You work with what you have.

Westerhof did not have the best players in Algiers 90 but he got to the final. Later He promised to deliver 94 and he did. It is all about his mentality. And then all those players you mentioned, apart from Amokachi, Finidi, and Yekini the others were not regulars for their clubs as at Westerhof's Era. Jay was usually a sub in Eintrach Frankfurt, Sia was not frequent for Nantes, Oliseh in Belgium was just picking up.

How come Keshi won Afcon 2013 with carpenters and farmers at least compared to this current crop of players? Faith and Belief. Rohr has no belief.

You are calling sadiq as if he has been capped yet
Rohr invited Sadiq b4 so who knows he might fancy his style. Where Dessers is playing might make it hard for him to noticed considering we have other guys like okereke, Simy, Dennis and Awoniyi who play in higher rated leagues.

Based on clause 6 subsection b for FIFA qualification matches GD will be considered first before number of goals scored

That's true Burkina Faso always needed to beat Algeria away.

Just praying SE make things straight forward and not bring unnecessary worry into the equation

JohnBullMySon:
Whether 1-1 or 4-1 it changes nothing. As far as they did not lose, Algeria has something to be worried about.

Well I have to check for FIFA's official rules on goal difference but I think GD is the first determinant

JohnBullMySon:
Is it not goals scored before goals conceeded?
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 3:53pm On Nov 12, 2021
SAs goal difference is currently 2 goals better than that of Ghana if the black stars score once their GD becomes equal but the Ghanaians have conceded more goals. Winning 2-0 will ensure they overtake SA on GD and also make bafana equal on goals conceded.

Check out group G standings to understand what I'm talking about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(CAF)#Group_H

Niger currently doing the lord's work for Algeria currently 1-1 against Burkina Faso

JohnBullMySon:
If Burkina Faso can overcome Niger today, brother expect anything on that Tuesday match.

I'm just imagining how Algerian fans will run mad, should Burkina Faso pull a surprise against Algeria. After all the goals mehn cheesy

2-0 or preferably 3-0 will be enough for Ghana. 2-1 will still be bad

TheLoneCitizen:
The website you quoted is accurate.

Ghana will be out if they win 1-0. They need to score more than one goal and win to qualify.

2-1, 3-2, 2-0 scorelines are enough.

Nigerian internet may be expensive but I think it's very important to always put things in perspective when critiquing our performance vis a vis that of other African countries.

P.S. not always comfortable disparaging stats from researchers when it puts Nigeria in a positive light but quickly believe negative figures at the drop of a hat

andrewbaba44:
Naija internet is expensive ,no believe this stats

Speaking from my little experience ,there are African countries where you can get unlimited internet for not more than 10k in naija naira monthly ,when I say unlimited ,you can steam as many football games as you like and they won’t cut you off till the 30th day
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by chrisooblog: 2:12pm On Nov 12, 2021
Cost of internet in Nigeria is actually one of the lowest on the African continent.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1180939/average-price-for-mobile-data-in-africa/

labas370:
Actually many countries in Africa. Cost of internet in Nigeria is very high. Cost of internet in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and some other African countries are way cheaper and better than ours... If they internet will be cheap, with stead electricity for people to charge their phones and importantly, for all the rural areas in Nigeria to have atleast strong fast 4g internet, then we can gladly claim the king of social media in Africa.

I think it's goal difference. Ghana should seriously pray that SA loses badly or draws cos if bafana should win and win well eg. 4-0, 5-0 then it's surely curtains

12large1:
Are they going by H to H rule or goal differential?

According to Rohr the 4-2-3-1 formation works best for us and playing the devil's advocate that formation worked quite well for during the 2018 WC and 2019 AFCON qualifiers. The few times we used the very effective 3-5-2 we were quite productive from an attacking point of view.

Question for the analysts in the house what is it about using 4-2-3-1 that seems to hamper our attack compared to 3-5-2. Or it a question of playing personnel not fit for purpose or type of tactics deployed by the opposition?

Oasis001:
Alternatively I can go with 3 - 5 - 2 or 4 - 4 - 2 Formation.

Emphasis on intelligence

obaaderemi:
They succeed because they work hand in hand with Kenyan saboteurs.
Another reason is that intelligence gathering is not a strong point of the Kenyans.
