Cardoso too was meant to be finance minister. The bold is very right unless it's when his interests are concerned. Look how he used extra-judicial means to remove the former CJN that year in 2019 when his reelection was threatened but will be forming due process when disloyal members in your party are sabotaging your governments performance e.g Malami, Lai Mohamed and co. GloriousGbola: In 2015 Buhari flew all around Nigeria on his campaign in oando's jet. After the election the understanding was that oando deputy dgceo, who filled all the requirements would be petroleum minister. E shock everyone as Buhari flipped the script and brought in kachikwu.
Buhari meant it when he said I belong to everyone and I belong to no one.
Anyone who followed the elections in 2019 would have also seen how Buhari was tacitly supporting amosun, who was rebelling against the party.
Most of these ultimately are also pointers to why ibb was able to topple Buhari once idiagbon was out of the country.
Add to this Buharis key focus has always been poor Northerners. Unfortunately Buhari and his inner circle think you can solve poverty with n5k stipends. And they look at everyone else as wealthy |

The ACN i.e Tinubu and co were meant to be brains of the operation when it came to the APC arrangement but Buhari assuming power and not following their leading threw a spanner into the works. Yes we should rightly link Tinubu to the failures of Buhari's government however we shouldn't ignore the obvious internal friction between the two. Many forces within the APC who have the ear of PMB wanted to cut BAT down to size but someone Tinubu survived them. larride: Is this a joke?

lol remember when I used to travel to Abuja by road in the early 2000s remember seeing 'This road belongs to FG' signs anytime we passed a horrible portion of the road in Oyo, Osun and Ondo. OBJ for all his economic acumen was terrible when it came to building lasting infrastructure except maybe the national stadium in Abuja. GloriousGbola: Through objs tenure lagos could do nothing about federal roads. It was so bad that Tinubu put up a sign at mazamaza - this road is the property of the federal gov't, please bear with us.
Fortunately yardua did not carry on with Objs beef and the vision for that road has slowly and surely materialized since then. |

Which is why it remained dead like thar for years.
Those days If you followed the road north from the old toll gate to Sango, you would only be drive about 5 minutes before realising you'd run out of road as the Market was literally on the express, where the overhead bridge is now.
If you headed south on that road, Kola was always a problem with huge potholes, abule-egba choke die around katangwa, the market was on the express at ile-epo, iyana-ipaja, and Egbeda..by the time you got to Cement you would dodging HUGE craters in the road...Ikeja along Traffic was insane, due to traffic backing up from PWD, and then the road practically ended at Bolade because that was where Oshodi market started from.
On my way to School each morning, I used to listen to morning show on Raypower back then after Larry Izamoje's slot and at least one caller would call in to abuse OBJ because of that road...I really shouldnt have been able to listen because it ran during school hours, but I was ALWAYS late for school due to that stüpid road.
That was an OBJ legacy though. That's the same road that took him to his farm from MMA |

Yeah LP will pull 30-35% of votes but I think PDP will be badly brutalized as most of the votes they got in the past will now be channeled to Obi. Do you think some Labour will be able to piggyback off Obi's votes and snatch some seats in some areas? Now that I think about it it might be an uphill task for Banky W to clinch his seat with the potential of the Labour candidate to eat out of his cookie jar. At least Obanikoro is sure most of his base is intact and will be hoping BAT can help him over the finish line. seunmsg: Yes. hmmm not too sure about the bold chief Kogi State that is the base for kidnappers to keep their victims? You couldn't pay me N1bn to make me come to Kogi right now. Amoto94: Head-to-Head despite the obvious failure of "The White Lion" he's better than Peter Obi when it comes governance. He has legacy projects to show despite the lean resources and the dangerous situation he met the state on assumption of office. 3 Reference Hospitals across the 3Senatorial districts, several kilometres of roads reconstructed across the state, he tamed ASUU in Kogi State University, initiated Confluence University of Science And Technology, Osara, Omi Rice Mill, presently there's a PPP arrangement to build a Cement plant by Dahiru Mangal company (the name escaped my memory). He was able to keep bandits and kidnappers at bay by investing in security architecture and recruiting locals as vigilantes alongside hunters to comb the bushes and forest across the entire stretch of the state; this is a state bordering about 10 or so states including the FCT and the 13th largest in terms of landmass, this is a state that almost as big as the entire SE region. He won the best Governor on security, you can verify this claim. However, his legacy will forever be tainted by the issue of nonpayment/underpayment of salaries which he's partly responsible for. Since 1999 Kogi civil servants have had to deal with poor working conditions with the only exception being the administration of Gov Ibrahim Idris between 2003-2011, during the time of late Prince Audu workers in the state are paid using what they refer to as satanic chart and pensioners were called dead woods. |

No but I read a lot about it. Work at a place that is a big partner of the tech sector. Yes PYO really pushed hard for facebook and microsoft to invest in Nigeria. I remember his trips to carlifornia that year. Have you thought of volunteering to help Obi formulate a roadmap for the tech sector because I think whichever candidate wins we need to make sure that angle is covered. I know Iyin contributed his thoughts to helping BAT formulate his. DissTroy: Many Nigerians do not know PYO is the reason the presidency assented to the Startup Bill quickly. He held a thousand meetings with techies without much media coverage for a few years and kept pushing for it. ---
You're in the tech space too? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 8:45pm On Dec 22, 2022 |
Yeah the tech bros really liked PYO. I also just zoned out once he lost the primaries. Anytime I see him in international engagements like his last outing with Kamala Harris I just SMH at the missed opportunity his presidency would have provided. DissTroy: They did nothing for Flutterwave. Those guys and PayStack scrapped the floor for everything. Only private connected individuals came through for them. But the Lagos Angels Investment Network (LAN) is still the closest to anything serious we have. They are individuals still. LASG did nothing for them.
My God! I was already salivating looking forward to an Osinbajo presidency. May Otem cage APC for denying us that man. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 8:15pm On Dec 22, 2022 |
Yes you're right this has forced government to take notice. The recently signed start up bill and investment in improved internet connectivity by google and starlinks will only make the sector grow even further. I disagree a bit about lack of government support for flutterwave I remember their former CEO Aboyeji mentioning somewhere how Lagos state partnered with them on something like that but can't speak for FG sha. DissTroy: States should be able to generate and transmit electricity. A PPP is the way to go.
Some states are already equipped to be self-reliant in terms of electricity.
I do have to add that the record in the ICT sector is just down to the sheer never-die spirit of the average Nigerian. The policies don't help us ala crypto and remittances. Power is still a major challenge as techies depend on alternative sources of power as backup, and completely in some places.
The government did nothing to help Flutterwave, PayStack, and the likes. Government did nothing to help techies connect with Silicon Valley too. Banks don't have packages to fund ICT but have special packages for oil and gas.
How techies in Nigeria did it is a miracle. But we have that record and I'd flaunt it to everyone proudly. |

The way forward is to keep changing leaders till we get it right, not ranting daily online which is just noise-making unless you take a real action to effect change offline by voting.

Even Sanwo-Olu that completed the blue line light rail don't be surprised if it doesn't begin conveying passengers until towards the end of next year. All na for political optics. BlueRayDick:

There are questions meant to be answered by a presidential aspirant.
It's like somebody asking Peter Obi the definition of osmosis. A reasonable candidate should redirect the question to the appropriate quarters.
Asking a presidential candidate about 'school na scam' is a silly question for the moment and Peter Obi earns more respect in redirecting the question to those who should be responsible.
It is lack of sense to use that as a fallback to the irresponsibility of Tinubu.
The most annoying part is that those who claim to be neutrals fell for that stupidity. That they fell for it simply exposed them.

From some recent govt policies on road infrastructure that I read it's not the second niger bridge that will be tolled. Whether we like it or not govt has to find a sustainable way of funding of maintenance of road infrastructure. Based on global best practice what other ways can govt finance road maintenance that haven't been explored? Itsrm: I thought of it as well but I think people paying or not will depend on the amount being tolled. If its 500 or less, people will pay. Apart from the hold up on the headbridge, there used to be serious hold up around that Electronics market. You don't want to be caught in it. I don't know if that has changed sha.
There's also those who have contraband they are carrying and want to avoid the military guys at the old bridge.
Transport companies can also transfer the cost to their passengers so its none of their business. |
