I'm a Sage, at ma lyrical age, u murkin me is a whole lotza mirage
U's ravaged because i'm so savage, do somthn but don't rattle ma cage
It's a new phase, it'll take Oldman eternity to synchronize with us

@ Judges, I think it would be nice to have them post their lines in here so you just copy and go to paste in the "Clean" thread, this way, viewers can have an undiluted view of the entire competition without "decoy" posts wedged in.

We just quote to prevent editing.

less than 11 hours before the first batch of asteroids hit NL Rap zone. wink
Rap Battles / Re: Greatest Rapper On Nairaland: Volume 3 by Christino(m): 8:31pm On Dec 28, 2008
mukina2:

The fixtures are as following:-

Monday 29th Dec. 2008 deadline: 23:59 hrs GMT

A-40 Vs X Fio
Ibime Vs Knife
Chamotex Vs Sauron
Crude Vs Old Sync

Tuesday 30th Dec. 2008 deadline: 23:59 hrs GMT

DBR vs Naijafan
DJ Jeffy Vs Menike
Gametag Vs Mailmalc
Brash Vs Worldbest

Gentlemen the rules are:-

8 bars 16 lines per opponent

No biting, if you are caught you will be disqualified - No Canibus/Mode9/Africanhiphop chopping!

marks will be awarded for Punchlines, creativity, metaphors and perfect rhymes - please make sense, no '96 Mase/Rasquee flows expecting high ratings pls.

All spits will be quoted by judges to prevent netcees from modifying their lines - double check for typos and intentions before stoning the rock with your egg, we only return ur shells.

No Parents dissing this is for fun please guys - Respect begets respect, even in defeat.

Late submission will attract -30% of total score - Walahi, no favoritism, GMT timing.
No Multiple user personality. ie. i am mukina , i register sukulu to support myself - date of registration, number of reasonable posts will determine the quantity/quality of support

The winners of each battle will battle each other until we have the final two - knockout. There is no shame in defeat and there isn't much justice in the world, no bad belle.

The judges and the rest of the music section/whole forum can also partake in the voting - online voting can easily be rigged, you'll be needing all the support you can get therefore invite all your friends in and out of NL.

If a netcee failed to show up, his opponent will automatically be in round 2 - automatic workover 12 hours after deadline, -30% within 12 hours after deadline.

Let's stick by the rules so we have some organisation. - Where there is no law, there is no offence

TIME - Due to the different time zones by some of the netcees, we are sticking to the GMT timing and consideration to those with diff times - 24 hours is plenty of time, if you cant do it in 24 hours, you won't do jack in 24 days. Wish you all the best, remember, it's JUST a game!

gamertag:

Another WACK, un-completed-gon'-be' tourney??

You are merely judging a concept car, the tourney is yet to kick off and it's too early in the season to judge the quality/quantity. Perhaps i'm seeing what you aren't. Fact is it won't make sense to have odd tourney figures. For a knock out tourney it's 4,8,16,32, in that order. Here there are only about 14 (forget about workovers for absentees). The figures have to be complete.

Tx for ur patience.
Computers / Re: Sony Makes The Best Laptops by Christino(m): 2:21pm On Dec 27, 2008
Ever wondered why I didn't even mention the apple? Its unaffordable to the common man, but it's the best, that's why Media houses and SERIOUS people use the MAC, but many a software are not built for it. Alienware, well, I can as well clone a tower to beat it grin It's just configuration, but when you look at ruggedity, battery life, user experience rating, heat dissipation, screen/image quality, keyboard response, design, ports e.t.c. I'll generally give it to the Toshiba, of course still far far behind Apple, so please let's not even discuss Apple cos it's way up there. Reality is many people here have not used one let alone have one. Abi I lie? Some will even tell u the MacBook Pro runs on Vista tongue

NVM, use ur laptop well, if you like buy Acer Ferrari or Apple go dump inside swimming pool like 3310, e go shock u. grin
Computers / Re: Sony Makes The Best Laptops by Christino(m): 8:13pm On Dec 26, 2008
The best laptop would be Nokia but I don't think they have plans for that. If they could make a laptop as rugged as the original 3310 then that'd be something, until then I'll say it's Toshiba or maybe, Sony. My brother had this equium, we practically baptised the laptop by immersion on more than 5 occasions, nothing serious happened. The day my inspiron found it's way into Ajah flood, the battery stopped working, so many things went wrong, screen became water clogged, computer village couldn't get the water out said I needed to buy another screen. BOught this cheape 4Gb, 320Gb Acer without NVIDIA/ATI and performance is "POOR", I should have allowed old man to get me a 2G Mad ass Toshiba instead.

Battery wise, the Dell is the undisputed Heavyweight champ. My Inspiron 1525 used to last 4:45hours, my Acer does 1 hour if I fast and pray. Toshiba batteries of nowadays are almost as good, doing 3 hours on the average (I'm refering to the batteries that ship with the laptops normally, not the special 8 hours ones)

You want to know who makes quality, go to second hand dealers. If you rarely see a particular make there, it's likely they are too expensive or not good at all.

All the best, but please avoid HP for now, full of crap and shit, no accompanying CDs. Visit Reddington and see piles and piles of faulty HP laptops. Same at PC outlet. At least dv6xxx series aren't worth it, even with NVIDIA and AMD Turion bull crap.

I'd say buy Acer midget @ 45k instead! Half bread is better than stone. grin

Rap Battles / Re: ATTN: Nairaland's Greatest Rapper 2008 by Christino(m): 8:58am On Dec 25, 2008
I think every contestant should have faith in their abilities. Firstly not all are equally endowed, it takes a lot of guts, courage, bravery and artistry to grace the occasion and also, the winner may not be the best rapper in reality but just the best prepared. What's luck anyway: Preparation meets opportunity.

"You gottta believe in luck or how else do you explain your enemy's progress?"

I think guys should start lining up their verses so they don't have to think all day. Freestylers, save your best for the last and please don't run out of steam, it's the festive period and maybe the best/worst time to think. . . and please make sense - I'm a saddist, it takes a gunshot to make me smile, not just comedy grin! Never mind the medics are close by and I'm holding the stretcher wink

Time table please, i'ma get it!

Rap Battles / Re: 2008 Nairaland Rap Up by Christino(m): 12:44am On Dec 24, 2008
Been inconsistent this year, don't have much info to mould into a Rap-Up, will try to see what happens next year.

Can someone come up with a "designed" rap-up, it's not about victimizing one person/group, spread it over the months, summarize what's happened this year. . .

I'll be back for more but I'm not so impressed so far and please rap's incomplete without rhyme scheme. Stick to/with it. You got ideas? They must end each line well, you know. . . counting on you!
Rap Battles / Re: ATTN: Nairaland's Greatest Rapper 2008 by Christino(m): 12:32am On Dec 24, 2008
Clowning as usual makes you wanna read every single post on the thread. Guys get Magneto, make sure you get that dude! Where da heck is Tianshie? Sure guys on ground are up to the task, I know things have changed and quite a few talents have shown up this year, looks like we got a good tourney rolling, what's the 411?

Naijafan, what happened to those rhymes, man open the floor! wink

Menike, get your crew back on, long time no see!

Mukina and organizers, you doing well, bring all of them back at least let's round this year up properly. Let's have the agenda today.

You know me well, I treat everyone as equal, no regard for past glory or name or fame, not even my "whack" self!

tharma:

U know Nigeria have very few good people, either rich or poor. Just look at ur village and u will c what I'm telling u. Even in our houses we will see the tendency of being corrupt in many of them. So I'm not supprise that we have people celebrating Ribabus humiliatio. Nairaland is fast beig taken over by the corrupt politicians.

In another thread I saw one politician (son of another govt thief) trying to compaign here. I think most of the people now here are either politicians or they are paid to register on Nairaland.

Therma, I think you need to spend more time in the Jokes section. Such guys are clowns who have refused to go there to posts sturvs. Pity our future, if you stand up, you die alone and you are forgotten even before your burial, so what do we do? Let them ride till the Messiah shows up. They aren't paid to register, they are showing their natural colour to you.

Makes me wonder a lot how Dora has survived Evil all these years. I think our prayers are enough to sustain her. Unfortunately, 419 guys have longer legs than drug moguls. Sorry Ribadu, I think you should learn from El-Rufai. Good people don't last in Nigeria. Wish you all the best.

Car Talk / Re: New Chevrolet Optra Vs Tokunbo Car by Christino(m): 12:21am On Oct 26, 2008
Some people are so into toks, from clothing to electronics to relationships to shelter to furniture and finally cars. If you have a tear rubber car with 3 year warranty, you don't have to visit the mechanic for 3 years of your life (I can bet a toks won't give you that much peace).

Buy a brand new car jooo, and enjoy yourself, if you don't enjoy it take it back to them, add some money and get another model, Shikena! Don't buy the Chevy Optra, buy Hyundai Elantra or Kia Cerato (2.0 Engines).

Nowadays Men don't understand the meaning of no because they are out to CHOPulate.

They know every woman has a "price" and that persistence pays. We have seen ugliest (but rich) gorillas marry beauty of beauties and finest of guyz starring at text messages as the only memoirs.

You can scare him off if you are under 24, by the age of 25, he'll be the one scaring the hell off you grin

Kuyt for the glory. Never walk alone guys. Even in the Chelsea Lion's Den, we can make history, we can end the unbeaten run, we can broaden the gap, we can edge closer to cup and stretch the lead.

I strongly have that belief. Kuyt for Scolari's head. kiss
