It is difficult to believe news without a reliable source. NBS website is nigerianstat.com and there is no such news. Isn't it absurd that punch newspapers would release news on behalf of the government? I do not believe there is any truth in this, sorry. 2009-2010 we saw a report and ever since, no such report has been published by the bureau. Question is, where did this come from?
Computers / Re: Amazing Windows 7 by Christino(m): 4:24pm On Dec 19, 2009
Windows 7 is not bad though. I dual boot Ubuntu 9.10 and Vista/Windows 7

I'm keeping shitty old crappy Vista Business cos of my over 100 installed application(z).

And the beefed up youtube links, the Microsoft Sponsored Anti-MAC, Anti-Linux campaign, guys claiming "Nothing good came out of open source!"

If nothing, Dynamips, Gimp, Open Office, Audacity, and Komposer but to mention a few are free software on Linux and in some cases, with an x86/64-bit equivalent.

Windows 7 is a good OS, but that's not to say free-ass Ubuntu is crap. I should say, Ubuntu, though "user-friendly nowadays" has never been for dummies.

And talk about drivers, Ubuntu 9.10 has almost all the drivers needed to get a modern laptop running - I'm a witness!
Sports / Re: U-17 World Cup Final: Switzerland Vs Nigeria [1 - 0] by Christino(m): 8:42am On Nov 16, 2009
I don't know of 1 single Nigerian player that'd play crap at the Surulere Stadium and get away with it. Whenever you exit the dugout in our green and white with all the Agberos inside and outside, you dare not leave without a win.

Congrats to Sani Emmanuel but he wouldn't have been that selfish had he played in Lagos.

Nations cup qualifiers, Under-17 whatever, do not play in Abuja. For serious games bring the chickens down to Lagos. For Circus games and friendlies, go to Abuja where the Clown is our King.

The fear of the mob is the beginning of winning.

BTW: Our eaglets will go a very long way, graduate into under -21 then under 23 and then join the tired pensioners and retired legs called Super Eagles. I wish them good luck all the way. Azeez and Paul, my best players by miles.

Politics / Re: Nuhu Ribadu Testifies In Front Of U.s Financial Services Committee by Christino(m): 6:01pm On May 22, 2009
Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], Nuhu Ribadu, appeared before the United States House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services on Tuesday May 19, lashing at Nigerian leaders who he said have betrayed the promise of independence.

"Today, after one civil war, seven military regimes, and three botched attempts at building real democracy, there is one connecting factor in the failure of all attempts to govern Nigeria: corruption" said Mr. Ribadu, now a fellow at St Anthony's College at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Ribadu who spoke on the theme of Capital Loss and Corruption: the Example of Nigeria, testified alongside Raymond Baker, the Director of Global Financial Integrity; Monica Macovei, former Minister of Justice, Government of Romania; Jack Blum, former head, UN Experts Group on Asset Recovery; and Anthea Lawson, Lead Investigator-Financial Institutions, Global Witness.

Giving reasons why western countries must see corruption as one of Africa's primary growth hindrance, Mr Ribadu remarked that "The West must understand that corruption is part of the reason that African nations cannot fight diseases properly, cannot feed their populations, cannot educate their children and use their creativity and energy to open the doorway to the future they deserve."

The former anti-graft czar illustrated his presentations with how former Nigerian governors, aided by foreign banks, stashed away billions of naira meant for the growth and development of their people.

"Mr. Joshua Dariye, Governor of Plateau state, was found by the London Metropolitan Police to operate 25 bank accounts in London alone to juggle money and evade the law. Domestically, we were able to restrain proceeds of his crimes worth $34 million," he said.

"Mr. D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha, governor of oil rich Bayelsa State. He had four properties in London valued at about £10 million, plus another property in Cape Town valued at $1.2 million. £1 million cash was found in his bedroom at his apartment in London. £2 million was restrained at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London and over $240 million in Nigeria. This is in addition to bank accounts traced to Cyprus, Denmark, USA and the Bahamas," Mr. Ribadu said.

For the West to finally understand the true ramifications of corruption, Mr. Ribadu said it must see it beyond "a system of bribes and patronage, but the systematic undermining of responsible governance, of visionary leadership, of a society's ability to meet and overcome challenges."

Corruption, he argued, is part of the reason that "African nations cannot fight diseases properly, cannot feed their populations, cannot educate their children and use their creativity and energy to open the doorway to the future they deserve."

The former EFCC boss said the fight against corruption in Nigeria is not in making new laws. "The laws needed to check these problems often already exist; what is lacking is the culture of enforcement" he told the American congressmen and women, adding also that such an enforcement culture will only blossoms where there is "the necessary political will, and this political will must be strong at the very top."

The west has a big role to play in the fight against corruption in Africa, Mr. Ribadu said through helping to promote instruments that can institutionalize tangible anti-corruption regimes. "Similarly, the US could help promote a Proceeds of Crime law that has treaty status, and push the boundaries of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) to acquire expanded power to bite both givers and takers of bribes" Ribadu said. He also took argument with those who thought the problem of bribery is with the giver, saying "Until those receiving the bribes are punished for their actions, the marketplace for high‐stakes elite bribery will continue to thrive."

Mr. Ribadu then canvassed a strong support for civic organizations who he said are critical in the war against corruption. "I would also propose that Congress support civil society monitoring programmes and direct support for programmes building investigative journalism, which can support transparency and anti‐corruption efforts" to urged the congressional panel.

Former Chairman of Nigeria's Economic Crimes Commission (EFCC) who was fired in 2008 for apparently doing his job too well, as he exposed and charged high profile Nigerian bankers, politicians, former ministers for corruption and money laundering. Ribadu recently testified before the U.S. Financial Services Committee, watch the video up top to hear what he had to say.

Here's also an awesome statement by Ribadu taken from an interview he did with The Guardian earlier in the year:

“If you fight corruption, it fights back. If you go after petty corruption nothing will happen to you, But if you go after grand corruption, you’d be taking on the politicians and they have the money. And they will come after you, But you can choose to go to bed with them and you’d continue to be Chairman or Director, and you can go to conferences and enjoy tea and collect estacodes. But I made a choice, I decided to go after the big ones, even if they were the ones that put me there, I investigated President Obasanjo, I took his statement myself. I went after his daughter, a Senator, I went after Governors, I charged all of them to court. One of them offered me $500, 000 US and a house in Seychelles and an aircraft, but I rejected all of that. By the time I left EFCC, I had 275 convictions in a country that never had one on cases of grand corruption, I charged the Vice President to court - somebody from my village. I proved that it can be done.”

If Dr. Okonjo runs for office Ribadu should be her Vice President!

Dumps seekers are just thread spoilers cos the next thing a long list of "pls send dumps 2 my mailbox" will fill all the pages.

As for simulation, if you are not a techie techie, just download gns3, get IOSes for 7200 and 3725 Adv ent and fire on, for FR, u'll need the 3640's but please try to buy at least the Cisco 871 router (just around 60,000 naira) contains SDM and some other stuffs.

The CCNA syllabus is all you need to be a top class admin, for those going in2 Core Cisco or certifications then the professional level is good, and for every one, the CCIE is more like it. Anybody, even a Secondary School student with interest can pass the CCIE, it's all about information, time, dedication, interest and sacrifice.

As for dumps majors, my advice is . . . pray you meet me at your interview! grin

Car Talk / Rainy Season: My Do’s And Don’ts For Motorists And Passengers by Christino(m): 12:27pm On Apr 13, 2009
LagosMet Rainy Season: My do’s and don’ts for motorists and passengers

1. Buy an umbrella for the car, office, a friend and home.

2. If you haven’t raised your sport car, call your mechanic now

3. Don’t drive while it’s raining or less than 20 minutes after, it takes a while for highway floods to clear.

4. Don’t venture into roads you less frequently used (during the dry season) as floods make it difficult to differentiate pot holes from “gutters” and “canals”.

5. If you must drive while it’s drizzling or raining, turn your headlamps on and your emergency lamps too. Also, avoid depending on horns alone, while you honk, flass your full lights as well since most windows are wound up and A/Cs on in other to clear the windscreen of most cars. Some even tune up their radios for situation reports, coupled with the deafening sound of the rain and thunder outside, your horn alone is less than likely to pass the message across. Use your hazard lights and flash your full lights.

As for pictures, the only problem i have is the hosting of pictures and people linking to it without reference. I use watermarking so that even if you link and use up my bandwidth, I have no problem. If no one volunteers, then I'll dedicate a sub domain, e.g. /reality to this cause.

This mail is definitely NOT from IBPLC. I don't think anyone within the bank can even stoop this low. A scammer/spammer can normally send emails using paypal.com, youtube.com or even nairaland.com (any domain). If the defendant can provide the header info in the email, we can trace it to IBPLC Ibadan.

In this light, I would dismiss this case within 8 seconds for lack of evidence.

As for spreading false info over the internet, i find that laughable, A bot gets a ..com extension and targets specific firms to bring down. Shutting such down is easy thereafter, how do you trace such an individual who blogs from the cafe in order to hand him 7 years?

Let's discuss something more serious pls.

Boys could be virgins yes, a thing of the mind there, no evidence, you can spearhead the male version, "goodest of lucky" to ya.
