PoliticsRe: Lagos, Osun Assemble Advocate For Yoruba Language. by christopher123(m): 4:18pm On May 05, 2016
musicwriter:
This's probably the best news I've heard on Nairaland this year. And the government should make sure it's not just about learning Yoruba as a language, but using Yoruba to actually acquire knowledge in schools. Replace English with Yoruba, and teach and learn in Yoruba. This would be a big leap towards true independence.

The benefit is huge!!. It will eventually return us to our selves- our culcures, our natural way of learning, give us back our identity as African. The benefits are endless.

The current brainwashing model of education we inherited from Britain makes English language a prerequisite for knowledge acquisition in our schools, therefore, it cuts off a large population of the African people from knowledge acquision.

No matter how intelligent a Yoruba boy, he cannot be educated under the current model of education. No matter how intelligent an Igbo girl, the current system of education cutts her off from knowledge acquisition.
e.t.c, .e.t.c. So, as you can see, we're the one stopping our people from being educated!. We're now the one enslaving ourselves!!.

This's is a very laudable policy and should be replicated all over Nigeria, all over Africa.
People are trying to be global compliant you are becoming isolar and clannish

OK one question

Can people tell me Yoruba word for software , atom, cell and even download

Tell me Yoruba words for these then I know that this project will be suitable for this ICT savvy world

Even Chinese with their technology are leaning global language

Yoruba language spoken by 30 million people
English language spoken by over 3 billion people

I think I rather learn English

One reason Igbo took over nollywood wasn't that they couldn't act in Igbo ..they learnt that they had to potrya their culture in a language million can understand which is English

Yoruba should up their games and becoming competitive instead of becoming isolar ..this is advice

They are not helping issues here

Thank day parents are teaching English, French and mandarins with local language ...it positions the kids to be global citizens

CHIMAMANDA!!! A prolific but biased and subjective writer. I can still recall her "Half of a yellow sun" describing federal troops as being inhuman and wicked because most of their bombs fell on civilian terrains, and I said to myself, "BUT IT's A WAR"!!! The igbos then should have known when chanting BIAFRA! BIAFRA!!! She's a BIAFRAN sympathizer and she clearly showed it in that book which has and will always make me rate CHINUA ACHEBE the "THING FALL APART" crooner over her!! Thank you!

They got to the community and the bike man dropped him and sped off. He walked to the nearest compound to make inquiries. The people he met there welcomed him, and gave him seat. They asked where he came from and he explained, they told him to wait that someone wil come pick him up and escort him to his fathers compound.

Now, i have to say that this youngman is very Plumpy and "wellfed". While he sat waiting, little did he know that they had put water on a huge pot and set it on the fire to boil. but u are right with the perfect tyre pressure which is 32
That's wrong .....the front tyre should be lesser depending on the body weight and engine size ...once your in motion the gas expands

It has nothing to do with bad road even a well pressured tyre will absorb shock easily than a very full one

Car TalkRe: The Major cause Of The Incessant Tyre Burst Accidents On Nigerian Roads by christopher123(m): 7:16am On May 05, 2016
DeRay98:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO ALL VEHICLE USERS!

Good morning everyone. Many people have been wondering what could be the cause of the incessant tyre burst accidents on Nigerian roads. The major cause is that we put to much pressure in our tyres. How did I know?

I was preparing for a journey, I changed some of my tyres and I asked the vulcanizer that ' what is the recommended tyre pressure? ' He said 50. I said alright, he should inflate it to 50 all round.

When I got to where I was going, I was discussing with some ppl on the issue of the minister that died on the road due to a burst tyre and wonder what could have happened because nobody could imagine a minister would be travelling with expired tyres as many would think is the major cause of tyre burst.

A man ( lived in US for many years ) said that the major cause of tyre burst in Nigeria is that we put to much pressure in our tyres and that each car has recommended tyre size and pressure clearly written on it by the manufacturer. I was surprised and begged him to come and show me where it's written on my car. To my greatest surprise, it's by the drivers door which I enter everyday without noticing it. By the time we checked, the recommended pressure for my tyres is 32! and I just traveled with tyres on a pressure of 50! He took me round his compound and showed me that of the cars (which includes a jeep and a sienna) there, the highest was 32. some were even 29!

He further explained that tyres are made of rubber and expands at high temperature. So, when yu are travelling in the afternoon when the asphalt on the road is hot, the tyre will want to expand. If the pressure in the tyre is to much and wouldn't accommodate the expansion, a burst is likely to happen at that time.

Pls check the recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle and others you know.

As many as possible Nigerians needs to read this.
thanks

Kindly share this message.
adopted
His correct .....I always make sure that the normal pressure is been pumped ..it's written by the side door of the car
But if you can't see it ..the secret is that always make sure that your front tyre isn't full so much because when the car is speeding the air becomes hot and it expands so the remain places will be filled by the hot air . but if you don't do this and pump the tyre full there will be not space for air expansion and the tyre can't handle the pressure it will burst

It's simple chemistry but it's unfortunate that people don't understand this basic principle ..and fauknizers ( hope spelt badly) isn't educated either not to talk of sciences

Bottom line people die because of knowledge
PhonesRe: If you could only have six apps, which ones would they be? by christopher123(m): 8:34pm On May 04, 2016
nze4al:
With over 1.5 million apps in the Play Store I bet you’ll never download all, but there are just six apps you could live with. So if you limited yourself to only six apps, which would you choose? Here are the only six apps that matter to my Android experience and I recommend too.

1. For communication: WhatsApp

WhatsApp is one of the most popular apps available on Android and for a good reason. This app is where we communicate. Communication is an essential function of the smartphone.

WhatsApp takes care of all of my communication needs and that’s why I chose it as my one of the only apps I need. I can make calls, send text messages, share photos or even documents. All of this on the platform that nearly all of my friends and family have.

2. For browsing the internet: Google Chrome for Android
With my Google Chrome browsers I can do most of the functions apps do. With a browser I can watch YouTube videos, check my email, post pictures to Facebook, search for anything, navigate and many more. Google Chrome does all these things well, which is why it is essential to my Android experience. Of course, I normally use apps for many of these functions but if I only have five apps I would use my browser for them.

So why did I choose Google Chrome instead of a different browser? Chrome is one of the easiest browsers to use and does all of your the essential functions without a stutter. It has a built-in flash player and PDF reader as well as data saving features.

3. For keeping your phone secure: AVG

Without security, all of these the essential functions I need my smartphone for go out the window. If my phone is hacked I lose everything and my phone is completely useless. And though other apps on this list have security features built-in – like encryption on WhatsApp and security on Chrome for Android – the system itself needs to be protected.

AVG is the most popular security app for a good reason. All of the functions for keeping your phone secure are free and easy-to-use. Scanning and securing your device is quick and your smartphone is kept safe at all times. It just takes an update every once in a while.

4. For typing: SwiftKey Keyboard
Google’s stock Android keyboard has gotten much better over the years, but I don’t feel at home in a device until I have SwiftKey in place. Why? Simple: SwiftKey has the best layout, design, and functionality for my needs. Its next-word prediction knows me almost too well, and its swipe-to-type capability works wonderfully when I want it.

5. News and updates: FeedlyReader

I read a ton of tech news and rely on Feedly to keep up with the many sites I follow. But while Feedly’s Web interface is suitable enough, the company’s own Android app has always left me wanting more.

A third-party app called FeedlyReader fills that void with style and grace. With a clean and attractive Material Design vibe and an impressive array of features like configurable left and right-swipe actions within the story list and tons of opportunities for customization. FeedlyReader has almost everything I’ve ever wanted in an mobile RSS client.

6. For file management: ES File Explorer
ES File Explorer File Manager provides Android users with a fully-featured file manager that gives them complete control over their device’s file system. The File Manager can manage onboard storage and external storage such as microSD cards or USB flash drives.

The software can also be linked to users’ cloud storage accounts, with support for most major services including Dropbox, Box.net, Sugarsync, Google Drive, OneDrive, and more, seamlessly integrating cloud file management with local file management.

If you could only have six apps, which ones would they be? Tell us in the comments.
