Festy4u: @Op, I think your point is valid but unfortunately, many especially the indigenes of that region may not see the point you are trying to make. If I may say this, although it might appear a little weird but true. The mode of communication between the indigenes and non-indigenes within the eastern states might be one of the reasons. I say this because I happened to school in the east and each time I approached a potential indigene be it at school, the market place or the bank and asked a simple question expressing myself in English, I got a reply from them in their native language! This got me worried most of the time. Now, I'm not saying you don't speak your native languages to your folks but most definitely not to people you don't know or those you are meeting for the first time. I actually replied a guy once in my native language once he had a conversation with me in his Igbo language and he later replied that he doesn't understand what I was saying and I said to him neither do I understand what he was saying. So as minute as this argument might seem, it might be one of the reason non-indigenes shy away from settling in the eastern states. I stand to be corrected though! The easiest thing to do is just learn igbo language and stop complaining I speak 4 languages and as a businesses man you learn the business of the land at least a bit |

Arsenate: It has nothing to do with fear of competition as the ibos on this thread are trying to imply. It is more to do with the fact that the ibos are not really hospitable people couple with the fact that they are very hostile with nasty arrogant attitude to go with. I mean even here on this thread they are already displaying their arrogance by implying no one can compete with them. Nigerians will rather live in Jigawa than live in Anambra; FACT. But people still do business in inhospitable region ..its not all about the hospitality but market dynamics People still do business in China and north Korea even Saudi Arabia yet these areas are not hospitalable Let's learn to compete not to look for hospitality Owerri has one of the highest hotels and they still build new ones daily ..so who lodges there Oga no venture no success |

meccuno: that true.......aggressive and too blunt.......but that's their nature.......but it depends on what defines their aggression......every tribe has what it shows its aggression for......when it comes to material things to achieve or being successful, the igbo man is aggressive......when you mention biafra, the yoruba man and hausa man turns aggressive!! When you stop paying militants, the ijaw man turns aggressive!! When you say lagos is no mans land the yoruba man turns aggressive!! When you mistakenly touch a Koran, the northern muslim becomes aggressive.....and I would be sorry for anyone who falls into that last category on the receiving end!! Nice analysis To be I prefer a blunt man than a pretender |

kayfra: You can expand from lagos to big population centers like Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Akure, Ilorin and Abeokuta. Before you even consider other regions of the country. You also minimize expansion cost and shared costs by working out of one region, it's only when you exhaust those then you head to PH, Kano, Abuja and Kaduna before you consider the SE. You have basically said nothing sir ...can you be more precise |

Weeee: And the Middle Belt has a sea port with thousands of federal government projects. Don't mind that guy, he is busy screaming marginalisation when there is actually none.
The thing is that you cannot compete with the Igbos when it comes to buying and selling. Another thing is this, if you are a Yoruba man and you have a shop in Igboland, selling the same goods with Igbo people. Trust me, you won't be patronised by any Igbo person, because they love to do business with themselves. That's what is called group economics ...the igbo practise that ..the Jews and Chinese also practise that They just can't compete In east but we have Chinese in east also competing I wonder why people love spoon fed |

ezebunafo: how many of these pple u mentioned have lands and and personal houses, coz they don't sell their lands to non indigines,i was born and raised in nnewi, anambra state,my daddy tried to buy a land but to no avail, the money of the one he eventually bought was returned to him after thier umunna meetings where they decided that they cannot sell to a yoruba man, that had it been my dad was an igbo they would have sold, after my secondary sch, while waiting for my jamb result I got employed in a company,we where, I think 3 yorubas then,it got to a stage that the management said that the company is established for the natives and since many of them are graduating that the non natives need to go or chose demotion, that's the grudge I hold against them till this day, Coscharis ,ibeto and air peace are anambra men and I know they employ Yoruba....so why lie on a Sunday ? |
