Let me ask you. Will you love to pay for a substandard product or service?

Nollywood offers no or little quality films. They have serious work to do to win the love people had for them back. Until they sit up the likes of Netflix will have major so in internet video streaming.

Don't use the music industry as comparison because the artists drop quality works that goes toe to toe with their foreign counterparts.
When the Taiwan and Chinese were producing initially we all called theirs substandard... Now where are they now

I will pay for substandard goods ...this will be a form of encouragement.. With time they will be better

But you Nigerians will love to reap where we didn't sow...we are been laughed at....if you travel outside Africa you will understand this

I am always ashamed with African mentality like this ....the same mentality of yours is why you will call Nigerian products igbo made

I will pay for the substandard good so as to encourage them

This is one thing some people are tired of been Nigeria ....its this attitude and with this attitude we can't develop....in 20 yrs time our economy will be run by foreigners and it will be a shame ...where as we will be happy collecting 10% tax and royalties...that's if they declare their profits

Then they will take the bulk of the money home ..making us slaves in our own countries ...Asians are doing that already

What a shame

Like I had mentioned earlier, when passing the whole Yoruba boys cheat as fun, let it remain fun....but passing it as a fact is just plain nonsense....u have again made an assumption based on blind reasoning, let me put it this way, that family of 10, of which u'd claim 9 with "kids" out of wedlock, what religion do they practicehuh Christianity or Islamhuh --- that leads me to "do a proper research" and see why its that way --- if ur so called 9 out of 10 is even tenable

That being said...how many igbos practice Islamhuh Wudnt this account for the marriage structures u complain abt in the Yorubas instead of simply saying its their naturehuh What abt the northern region of the Country and the people from there? Wud u say 10 out of 10 becos they have more polygamous families than the so called Yorubashuh

Learn to do research before u pass ur ignorant anger as "fact"!!!
1. We are talking about facts ...those are what people said
2. We are talking about infidelity ...which is sticking to a partner and Islam and culture ain't excuse . it is all about discipline
3. We are talking about Yoruba not hausa ..so put these in perspective
4. Do a research and check the families and know what I say..I live in Lagos and that is an observation
5. Why dont you check divorce statistics?

When you have done these empirical study ...you will come up with the conclusion that the observation of these people are right

Vox populi vox dei ..voice of the people voice of God

It is not a bashin..we have Muslims in UK and USA but they don't go on marrying 4 women

So its all about attitude and discipline

I don't see how the term globalization suits only Western multinationals. The term was coined as a guide for all nations participating in business. If it was designed for only western nations then foreign schools would not have let me enroll for an internatioal business degree, infact the very mention of globalization in africa would have been forbidden.

The truth is most of our indigenous companies can not compete on a global scale so they settle for a home market presence till they get pushed out of the market by leading international brands.

Don't blame the new competitor, blame the government for not supporting indigenous companies and blame those companies for remaining stale, even mediocre is most cases.
Globalization causes unemployment in industrialized countries because firms move their factories to places where they can get cheaper workers.
Globalization may lead to more environmental problems. A company may want to build factories in other countries because environmental laws are not as strict as they are at home. Poor countries in the Third World may have to cut down more trees so that they can sell wood to richer countries.
Globalization can lead to financial problems . In the 1970s and 80s countries like Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia or Brazil got a lot of money from investors who hoped they could build up new businesses there. These new companies often didn’t work, so they had to close down and investors pulled out their money.
Some of the poorest countries in the world, especially in Africa, may get even poorer. Their population is not as educated as in developed countries and they don’t have the new technology that we do.
Human, animal and plant diseases can spread more quickly through globalization.

Many experts say that we need a different kind of globalization in our world today. There must be ways to make sure that all countries profit from the good sides of globalization. We should help poorer countries by giving them better education and showing them how new technology works.

Thank me for this lecture

Advantages of Trade Protectionism

If a country is trying to grow strong in a new industry, tariffs will protect it from foreign competitors. This allows companies in the new industry time to learn how to produce the good efficiently, and develop their own competitive advantages.

Protectionism also temporarily creates jobs for domestic workers. As domestic companies are protected by tariffs, quotas or subsidies, they will hire locally. This will occur until other countries retaliate by erecting their own protectionism within that industry.

Yeah.... Like North Korea.

Have a patriotic weekend.
: Trade protectionism is used by countries when they think their industries are being damaged by unfair competition from foreign industries. It's a defensive measure, and is usually politically motivated. It can often work, in the short run. However, in the long run it usually does the opposite of its intentions. It can make the country, and the industries it is trying to protect, less competitive in international trade.

Divide and conquer works every time. If Africans were united to begin with the Trans atlantic slave trade would not have occurred. We would've wholeheartedly fought the white man out of our shores.

Did you know before the joining and creation of this 'great' nation called Nigeria we were made up of different kingdoms few and far between? The whiteman used our differences to his advantage.
Not only that ..the white man has successfully brainwashed us

They came with the term globalization and they gullible Africans keyed into that

Globalisation didn't make us not being able to refine our crude oil. There's absolutely no political will to ensure petroleum refining in Nigeria, besides for refining to take place subsidy must go; which the current government when in the opposition was against.

Hitv got what it deserve. Instead of Shaibu to further invest his earnings into the firm and raise quality standards, he went on a partying spree, buying a Range Rover Sport and harassing viewing centers owners. He was not astute enough.

The same globalisation you're against is what has enabled Dangote to expand into other African countries, Glo to be in Ghana.
Stop supporting ineptitude in our companies because of patriotism.
To be honest ..I will not argue with you and I am not in that mood

What I always tell you is that stop jumping up because Netflix came ....sit back ask yourself this question ....how can Nigeria offer this services ....one thing is sure

No Nigerian firm will ammass and muster the resources to compete with Netflix ...so what do we have

With this your mentality ....very soon 90% of the economy will be in the hands of foreigners

We're in the era of globalization; companies have to be competitive and adaptable to change if they must survive. irokotv have been accused of cheating producers and directors.

Netflix didn't only come to Nigeria, it also came to 129 countries. Disruption and change is what most Nigerian firms need now. This is where management consulting and advisory services come to play.

BTW, Sony is Japanese, iPOD is American. Patriotism doesn't mean one should have to support/buy products and services that has less quality, that's blind patriotism. Nigerian companies must improve their services and products.
This is where u got it all wrong ....the west coined the term globalization so that the third world will be used as a dumping ground and make us not produce

Till tomorrow there is some level of protectionism and even USA don't allow their home firms to die ..that's is why iPad will tackle Samsung and that's why they didn't want Ford to die

The Chinese has learnt how to protect t their own firms and that is what it should be
But the black man will consume , consume and consumer then dance and have sex

No manner of production

It is the same stupid globalization màde us not to even refine our basic crude oil

It's the same globalization has made dstv to kill mytv even hitv

Netflix came into Nigeria we shall now shout kumbaya and hurray

Instead of us supporting our own irokotv and other digital content entertainment distribution we are here clapping for one oyibo firm ..the way you clapped for shoprite and dstv

They come here make all the money and take it back to their country we continue to be consumers and skabes to foreign establishment

Shame on us all

Why can't we just produce for yourselves at least

Sometime I feel so ashamed been a Nigeria

Now they pushed this to front page ...

This is how they killed hitv and mytv for dstv to gain

Cant we have our own entertainment distribution for ourselves and sell the rights and franchise to them

Sony and iPod has USA
Alibaba has China
India has their

But the stupid Nigerians will jump and leap for joy when the oyibo comes to colonise and call it investment

Tomorrow you will say no job..where as you have refused to support your own due to hate and tribalism

For those of you saying its a lie

Lol. For you mind. cheesy The SouthWest is about 3 times the size of the entire SE -- Oyo state alone is the size of Anambra, Abia, and Imo state combined. Ditto Ogun and Ondo. And even some of our cities are as big as your states in Landmass. We have cities that are centuries old and still standing for posterity. It's no secret that the SE is the smallest and therefore the most densely populated region in the country with serious population pressure challenges, which explains why you all have to migrate out of your enclaves in masses and need to rebuild your leveled buildings after the civil war. How big are 'developed' Aba, Owerri, and Enugu? The developed section of Enugu encompasses but a mere 2 local government out of 17, same applies to Imo state, where Owerri is the only 'developed' town. Aba is nothing to write home about. These 'developed' areas of the SE can't be any bigger than Ikeja in Lagos. #FACT. Ibadan city alone is as big if not bigger than some SE states. I have attached pix of Ohafia in Abia state with brown roofs that make Ibadan's look regal in comparison. Yinmu.
How many local government is in Ibadan and akure

Oga lets call a spade a spade ...east is far developed than west..it is obvious

The problem is that you guys don't travel ..you assume that all is well in your state

This might sound harsh but its the fact

The war helped igbo..the war made igbo to believe that they can call the government bluffs and not depend on government and the bombing leveled most igbo cities and they started building new cities

Just like the fire that burnt Manhattan helped new York rebuild ...just like Hiroshima was rebuilt

The war also made igbo ressillient and stronger and made them understand that they can take in anybody

On the other side

The war made the Yoruba to be complacent and the indeginization decree helped them to be a bit dicile making them depend on government
