I don't know much about hybrid cars tho but as for Kia, I would disagree with you because I bought my Kia Rio brand new in 2004 and till date it has not given me issues, never broken down. More importantly I don't joke with maintenance and original spare parts

We are saying the same thing. No car is bad. A car is as good as its maintenance.

That's the problem. You hardly use the car. Who handles it while away? You can't park it down and expect all round performance anytime you come around. It wasn't designed to work that way. You don't park a hybrid down for long periods.

I have a very good friend who uses same car, the guy is suffering for what he bought with his money.

The day I went to get my wife another car here, before shipping it down to naija , Toyota showed me RAV4 2017 and was kinda saying something about model SE hybrid... I got mad with the man without even allowing him to finish whatever he is saying provided I heard hybrid on the statement, I got her XLE instead.

How did your wife handle the car? Maintenance is very important. Women aren't known to be the best handlers of cars. There are people driving hybrid cars and enjoying them. Major advantage of hybrid cars over non-hybrid cars, is better Mpg. Your hybrid car consumes less gas than the non-hybrid car. It also produces lesser emissions. Your hybrid battery can last as much as 10 yrs or more, before replacement. However, this depends on your maintenance. Hybrid cars should never be parked down for long without use as it runs down the battery. The battery can only be charged when vehicle is in motion as the synergy drive switches power between both power sources and when the car is running on fuel, it charges the battery and stops for the battery to take over, when battery is fully charged... When the vehicle isn't being driven, there's no way the battery would get charged. Secondly, your hybrid car shouldn't be driven on the battery solely. Some people do not like fueling cos they hear it's a hybrid vehicle and consumes less fuel. Doing that, would amount to killing the battery faster. The battery cost a lot to replace but it's worth it. The major disadvantage is that you can't just call any mutiu or muftua to work on the vehicle if it develops a fault. You need a specialist to look at it.

Note: if you won't be driving your hybrid vehicle for long, get someone to run it around for 30 mins thrice a week. This would be enough to help keep the battery in shape till you come around.

I don't like being in a position where I can't afford basic things of life cos it leaves me with depression.
