I remember my younger days in sapele,Delta state. River Ethiope was a dreaded river even to the indigenes. We were always hearing stories of boys drowning after going there to swim/fish. The only river I entered, was pontu and God knows I didn't leave the shores while swimming;I respected myself very well. Pontu extended down to AT&P. Knowing the wonders of river Ethiope,I won't doubt the story of 16 soldiers drownng in it. |

So,if I get attracted to intelligent ladies who I think are morally upright, have good characters, godly, etc;it means I'm loving with a condition(condtionally)? That means I can only love unconditionally, when I fall in love with a woman wth bad characters,no brains, morally bankrupt, etc, and still love her? Sometimes,I feel you kind of contradict yourself when not necessary. Before love, comes attraction. You can't talk of love without being attracted to a person first. The good looks, intellect and stuffs, are what makes one party to develop strong feelings for the other.
When you say someone is loving condtionally,it means there's some kind of material gain or otherwise,or some kind of tangible benefit which can be vividly seen, that the person derives from the union and quite often, such unions thrives as long as that thing exists. When you say someone loves conditionally,it means that person expects somthing in return for the love given. Good looks, intelligence and co,do not fall into such conditions. I have loved unconditonally without waiting for a reward. What brings the attractions shouldn't be seen as the condtions for loving. |

I was about askng same. Before banana island became so popular, wuse zone 2 had already become notorious for being high priced and for the rich. As a matter of fact,my aunt and her hubby despite having 2 good jobs in the capital city, eventually had to relocate to airport rd so as to cut down on expenses, and start developing theirs. Who even knew jabi lake then? A list with jabi lake and no wuse zone 2? Naah. That's like rating ajah and ikota axis, above ikoyi. Kockane: Well, I can't speak for the places outside Abuja but a list that has Asokoro at number 10, Jabi at Number 9 and Maitama in first place is without a doubt not credible.
Maitama and Asokoro, in whatever order you place them shouldn't be far off each other, and if you consider all parts of Jabi, I doubt it should be on this list.
Where have you placed Wuse 2? |

When you are tired of spreadng this your garrage boy/motor park tout/market women gist/lies,let us know. GEJ met $ @ 148 naira, and left it @ 199 naira(a rate that was as a result of political tension and panic buying). Our foregn reserves was $35bn as at 2010 when he was sworn in to take over from Yar'adua, and was $29.6bn as at may 2015 when he left... It's a pity you have access to the internet but can't source for accurate info for yourself. Not everyone on NL is a dunce, and we won't all swallow your fable. When you're wth your type, you can spread those lies you wrote up there. LydayBobo: He met $1 = N118 He left $1 = N260 He met GDP growth of 7.8% He left GDP growth at 2.3% He met foreign reserve of $62 billion He left foreign reserve at negative balance even though he enjoyed oil price at $120 & above.
If this man is your hero, may God reduce ur life desires like ur hero reduced our Naira, our GDP & our foreign reserve & placing the country on a track to recession before he left.

Don't stay on NL and say "majority of Nigerians who voted Buhari, are happy with him". Try and echo that statement in public, where you'll find the average Nigerians, and see what the response would be like. seunmsg: The ignorant congressman was probably prodded by an ipob member to write the above trash. Whatever the case may be, he has only given an opinion and not the reality on ground. Majority of Nigerians that voted for Buhari are happy with his effort so far at fighting corruption and eradicating the boko haram insurgency. A congress man in the US will not dictate to us how to go about fighting corruption or how to go about fighting terrorists. We have our country to protect and we will go about it our way.
Nigeria did not dictate to the US how to go about fighting terrorism after the 9/11 attacks. They invaded Iraq without any evidence of weapons of mass destruction and without the UN authorisation. They have committed unimaginable war crimes all over the world so, they are not in any position to lecture Nigeria on the morality or otherwise of how we fight corruption and secure our country. If the dasugate scandal is to happen in US, will the congressman be talking this same poo? Though I believe the Obama administration will definitely ignore the congress man's trashy letter, Nigerians need not to worry. If US refuse to sell weapons to us, we will buy from Russia and China. |

Wow! I'm impressed. Oliviaarims: Well, I honestly do love this and fully understand what the OP has written. But may I add also...
When micro organisms are transferred from their natural habitat to a medium culture, it is for the purpose of isolation and identification. The culture medium contains their necessary nutritional requirement for growth and reproduction. At the first instance, the micro organism adapts to its new environment at which its growth is slow. After this, it goes into its exponential phase where its growth and reproduction is most active and rapid. Accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour takes you from your natural habitat (the world) to your spiritual habitat (the kingdom of God), which is your culture medium. Your ability to adapt to your new environment is by the spirit of adoption, Holy spirit (Rom 8:15). The kingdom of God has all the necessary nutritional requirement for your spiritual growth. One thing with growth factors is that they are substances required for growth and can not be synthesized by the organism. It is in God that you receive your growth requirement, you can't get it by yourself. The Holy spirit takes you to your exponential phase when you yield to Him. At this point, your spiritual growth and reproduction, which is your multiplication is very active and rapid. The evidence of your spiritual growth are the fruits you bear. We are being isolated and identified with Christ. You must first be isolated from the world before you can be identified with christ.
Don't worry if your spiritual growth seems to be slow or even stagnant. In fact, we are commanded not to worry (Phil 4:6-7, Matt 6:25_34). You are a work-in-progress, just yield yourself and surrender completely to Him. Matt 16:24 says; then Jesus said to His disciples if any one wishes to come after me,he must first deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. He has given us the power to choose, He works with what we choose. Do you desire to follow Him but still holding back to yourself, to that which is not? Mark 10:28; Peter began to say to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You". All you basically have to do is to surrender and follow him.
Be the clay and let Him mould you, be the vessel and let Him fill you, be the light and let Him be your source of power. Be the carrier of His presence. |

No. He does not need 5m,but should have a reasonable inflow of income from salary or biz. falconey: yes sir and when there is change in economy policy, will the priority sustain such family? 80k is too small sir, unless the man has a huge savings in the bank. this 80k can not sustain a family for a month with rent, inflation and tax rate direct and indirect goods and services etc
family expands, needs grow and number increases, with income not more than 150k it will be difficult to cater and save. before a man will plan to marry he should at least have #5m. |

OP's post makes sense. I used to think I'd achieve a lot before getting married but my mentality changed not too long ago cos I decided to deal with reality. I've had to narrow down my set targets to what is realistic in this present day Nigeria. God willing,I hope to sort that out next year so I don't end up paying 5k for baby food that costs 2k now. With or without a working class wife,I'm sure I can cope. But,I'd love to chip in a word or two in the area of finance. If you're earning 30k and you want to marry, pls don't lve in a big city(except you wantto live in a face me,I face you apartment). You'd get frustrated and if your wife aint disciplined, things might begin to happen. Even in a small town,I don't see how that sum would cater properly for a family except of course, you wanna raise kds with red hair(children who lack vitamins). That 30k won't even sort out fuelng and utilty bills for some people. I don't want to discourage anybody but that's a way of gettng yourself frustrated. With 30k a month,I wouldn't menton marriagee to anybody. It's ok to start small but just don't put yourself under any unnecessary pressure. Besides,I don't know how many naija girls of today are ready for such. Let's be real wth ourselves;the streets aint smiling. |

I hope you're not stylishly dissing me with the "money before women" quote. Xiadnat: Naijaboy,
This is a great, well written and educational piece. I agree with your premise.
To be honest, I think to certain extent, women are partly the reason many men reason like that--ie; money before women. Women of nowadays to be exact--who want to "keep up with the Karda...."....
And, perhaps the economic rationale--as raising a family is terribly expensive these days.
In the earlier days of our grand parents and parents, things were much different.
My uncle has a very successful business; but he was married wayyyyy before he became successful.
My dad married my mother before he even dreamed about a way of steady income. But she stayed, they got "there" together.
I keep telling young men who think "money before women": just find a good woman by your side to help you get there, then enjoy it with her. Then you are certain about the quality of woman you have and you have a memory to share with--the memory of the hustling days when all you had was each other and LOVE.
That's better than raking in the dough, and get one chick whom is probably attracted to your money; the risk is; if you go broke in your marriage, you are in trouble because she may just pack and leave. That's the problem, you are not certain the woman you get the money loves you or the money and things you can get her.
Anyway, good piece. A word is enough for the wise (men) out there thinking they have to make before getting married.
Unfortunately, though, If you find a woman today who is willing to dig up the dirt with you, consider yourself finding rare element or the proverbial "needle in haystack". |
