Yea. Mixed it up. Unfortunately,America applied same tactics for both leaders but with different variants. alekside: |
At Henry120: good one. Don't be surprised about what some nairalanders think. You know Africans usually prefer to belive the West than to believe themselves. A case study is Libya. Americans decieved them into destroying their country under the guise that Ghadaffi was bad. Now Libya is in ruins;it's no longer that strong and self sulficient country that Ghadaffi left behind. Nigeria will not fall into that trap by God's grace. |
2015 is the year of a country called "Nigeria". This election would go down in history,as the most electrifying and decisive election,in the history of Nigeria. A lot of truths about the mess from the past, would be brought to limelight and Nigerians would get more enlightened about their country. This piece up there, explains a lot of things and why Nigeria is where it is today. I think this is another front page material. Mods pls do the needful. |
Jeez! A head of state voting against his own country? No wonder He was overthrown. If this is not cluelessness,I wonder what we'd call it. What was His reason for voting against Nigeria? I think this deserves a spot at the front page. If not for anything,Nigerians should have info about this. In the event that He eventually wins the election, becomes president and starts voting against Nigeria on the international scene, nobody should act surprised. |
Same here. I sometimes want to comment on issues here but the violent nature of the apc folks, usually puts me off. I choose what and what topics to comment on. obiscolly: |
I was going to point out the same thing. Didn't even know someone else was thinking same. Mohammed Buhari and Muhammadu Buhari are two different people. |
That's the tradition in istekiri land. Omawunmi is actually an itstekiri girl, not yoruba. |
You forgot to add the green coloured one. They used to sell it 50k and 1 naira then inside big coolers during break and after school. There was also the white coloured one. The good old days. zerojoy: |
Fortunately,I got a song I could produce for D'banj and bring him back to limelight with. Something in the Oliver twist mode. But do I have the time for all that now? I'm not too sure. |
You cracked me up with this but you have just spoken the truth. The kind of hatred exhibited by most of these APC folks, can only be exhibited by demonic souls;they just hate for no just cause. FKO81: |
I understand very well and all I'm saying is that,in a country like Nigeria where illiteracy is high(even among the so called educated ones) and sentiments of my religion and tribe comes into electing a leader,it's very easy for us to make the wrong decisions. The constitution has to be visited again and the requirements for people seeking elective offices, has to be upgraded. Only then, can we be sure of having the right pool of candidates to pick from. Majority of the people holding elective positions today,do not have that sound academic background and it is evident in how the nation is being governed. omonnakoda: |
I was responding to the section of the constitution quoted by the APC spokesperson and the implied logic from that explanation, simple meant "so long as a person can read and write,to the satisfaction of the electoral commission,or has a primary school leaving certificate and has worked in the public sector for about 10 yrs". If a primary school leaver works as a receptionist in the public service and doesn't rise above the post of a secretary to one of the heads of department in that ministry or parastatal, and spends 10 yrs in that office,He or She is qualified to contest as a candidate in an election. That's what it simply means. My question to you is this: do you think such a person would be capable of piloting the affairs of a Nation like Nigeria? omonnakoda: |
Pls where is Buhari and when is He addressing the press on this certificate scandal? |
ok. When I get married,I'd contact you. robedu: |
@ robedu: pls can you also help in saving my marriage? My wife always punishes me with sex by forcefully having me,and causing a lot of pains. She practically ra-pes me;how can you help? ![]() |
But you remember very well that the wrong decision they took then, was what led to the abduction of the chibok girls. It's only a fool who will repeat the same mistake twice in succession. Tintinix: |
Nice one. I like it when people are bold enough to stand up and speak up for what they want, irrespective of the strong opposition of voices against them. That's courage. |
Boko haram became more violent after GEJ was sworn-in in 2011 when northern elders promised to make the country ungovernable for him. Was there APC at that time? Had APC chosen buhari as their flag bearer then? Where we preparing for elections then? The way some of you reason and talk at times, baffles one. saharachic: |
This is how it all starts. The governor has issued a security alert about the state of things in Adamawa but people are insisting elections must hold. When boko haram strikes and kills several thousands, they'd turn around and blame GEJ. If the place is not secure for elections, let the elections in that state be canceled. |
It simply tells you how flawed the Nigerian constitution is. If what they are trying to tell us,is that with a mere ability to read and write, you can contest for the office of the president of the federal republic of Nigeria,it tells you how low we have sunk as a nation. This alone, rubbishes the hardwork that has been put into work by most well educated citizens who have burnt candle at midnight, and have taken the pain to cope with the stressful educational system you have in Nigeria. As it is,it means we can't blame students in secondary and tertiary institutions today, who aren't reading or taking their book work serious. So long as they can read and write, they can become the president tomorrow. How comfortable are we with this kind of arrangement? If previous military leaders were well educated,I'm sure Nigeria would have been better than it is today cos they probably would have brought their educational experience to bare, while leading the nation. You can't compare the decisions an educated man will make,to one who just stopped at primary school. The Nigerian constitution handed over to us by the military needs overhauling. We like to compare ourselves with America or UK but I doubt if these countries would ever present an uneducated candidate during their presidential elections. |
This is funny. You mean APC folks actually turned on the flood lights in the afternoon? Smh. Too much of everything is not good. I wonder why they had to use a photoshopped image to sell their candidate. |
Lol. You met him at home in the morning? masterpower: |
If it's only people with voter's card that they are calling, then it means there something fishy going on. DebateNigeria: |
Let me set Lai Mohammed straight here with this excerpt. "In any case, even if the army now says it does not have the certificates of Buhari, he is still very qualified to run for the country’s highest office, as stipulated by the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. The party quoted Section 131 (d) of the constitution: “A person shall be qualified for election to the office of president if he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent”. It said the meaning and interpretation of school certificate level or its equivalent can be found in the constitution under part IV, section 318. In that section, a ‘school certificate or it equivalent’ is defined quite succinctly thus: (a) A secondary school certificate or its equivalent, Grade II Teacher’s certificate, the city and guilds certificate; or (b) Education up to secondary school certificate level; or (c) Primary six school leaving certificate or its equivalent. Sub-section (a) clearly spells it out that a secondary school certificate or its equivalent. (b) says education up to secondary school certificate level. Proof of this can only be done via presentation of results showing that you have been educated up to that level, and the generally accepted standard for that nationwide,is the presentation of your secondary school leaving certificate. (c) primary school leaving certificate or its equivalent. What is worthy of note here,is that these are 3 definitions of school leaving certificate in order of hierachy. But looking at it critically, one can see that (a) and (b) are superior to (c). It's now left for the court to determine which one of them would be the minimum requirement, considering the fact that the constitution says school leaving certificate and if the definition of school leaving certificate are the 3 above, does it now mean that (a) is equal to (b) and (c)? Obviously,(c) is a much lower level from (a) and (b). Common sense would tell everyone of us,that the destiny of over 170 million Nigerians, cannot be left in the hands of a man with only (c). |
I'm very sure you do not understand what that means. It simply means he claimed to have sat for the exam, and passed with those grades but didn't provide any supporting document to back his claim. It's just like a student applying to a university today, and filling different grades in the column that provides for him to state his grades and subjects passed but does not attach any supporting certified copy of the result, from waec. In lieu of that,He gets his school principal to write a recommendation letter to the higher institution, telling them he is fit to study in that school. The recommendation letter cannot be a substitute for the certified true copies from waec. FastShipping: |
