The sale of DISCOS by former president Jonathan to investors fronted by PDP henchmen including our "letter-writing" baba was in line with what they stand for: selfish acquisition of commonwealth.

Funnily, in line with agreement signed, the "investors" in DISCOs were given government-backed facility to start operations.

Now they are not under obligation to provide prepaid meters to consumers or even buy electricity generated by GENCOs since they can do estimated bills and load sharing. Of course they resort to blackmail of "killing foreign investment" any time government steps in.

The result is lack of progress from seed sowed a couple of years ago by insincere people.

I grow up in Maiduguri and have travel widely in Nigeria before my youth service, it is very very hard to see a Yoruba person outside the South West.

The Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola SAN, on Monday, blamed the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party for abandoned federal government projects across the country.

He stated this while inspecting the building project of the federal secretariat, Awka, Anambra State.

He described the corruption during the PDP era as monumental, adding, “They looted our collective destiny, prospects, jobs and so on.

“That’s why the masses are suffering today. That’s why there are no jobs. But we (APC) are trying to bring back smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”

He said the 18-kilometer Umunya axis of the Onitsha/Enugu Expressway would be completed in May, 2019, while the federal secretariat, Awka, the state capital would  be completed the first quarter of next year.

Fashola, said the Buhari government inherited those projects because past governments failed to complete them as a result  of corruption.

“They awarded the contract without paying contractors, and when you don’t pay contractors you create problems down the labour ladder.

“This man here told me that he gets N30,000 per week. With such fund he will patronise pubs in the evening by eating Isiewu (goat head) and drinking with his friends in the evening and through such way wealth is distributed and redistributed; jobs are created.

“For instance, the contract for  this federal secretariat  was awarded in 2012 by the previous administration without making funds available for its completion. If the money meant for it was not stolen, it would have been completed before now.

“We are bringing back what was denied the people in the past to them; that’s the difference between a development administration and a corrupt regime,” the minister stated.

The ministers and other top officials who allegedly hijacked a scholarship scheme for young Nigerians put in place by Chinese firm, CCECC, have been identified.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how an undergraduate scholarship scheme by the Chinese construction firm, CCECC, for young Nigerians was cornered for ministers and other top public officials.

The top officials who benefitted were identified in a document used by the construction firm, CCECC, to permit selected candidates to participate in the scholarship interview.

Only the persons whose names were on the document were allowed for the interview at the firms’ office in Abuja. Each of the names were typed close to the top officials who nominated them as seen by PREMIUM TIMES. Several other candidates who showed up for the interview without being on the ‘special’ list from the officials were stopped at the gate.

The Officials
This newspaper was able to get a peek at the list of the candidates selected for the interview. The government officials who nominated them were listed beside the candidates’ names.

Some of the government officials who made nominations, as seen on the CCECC list, are:

When contacted on why their principals made such nominations for scholarships meant for all Nigerians, many of the spokespersons denied knowledge of the nominations while others referred questions to the transport ministry which asked for the nominations.

The spokesperson to Mr Ogbeh, Olukayode Oyeleye, and that of works and housing ministry, Eno Olotu, said they were not aware of the scholarships or the nominations by their principals [/b]

The chief financial officer of the Chinese telecoms giant Huawei faces fraud charges in the United States, a Canadian court hearing has revealed.

Meng Wanzhou, daughter of Huawei's founder, is accused of breaking American sanctions on Iran.

She was arrested in Vancouver on Saturday and faces extradition to the US.

China has demanded Ms Meng's release, insisting she has not violated any laws.

The court is deciding whether or not to allow bail. Friday's five-hour hearing has now ended and the case was adjourned until Monday.

Portugal international Ronaldo joined Serie A champions Juventus from Real Madrid in a £99.2m deal in the summer.

The following is a transcript of the audio.

It’s episode number 400. Such a milestone should be marked with an epic episode. You ask the questions, I offer them to Pastor John, and he answers them. That’s how it works on the Ask Pastor John podcast. We get a lot of questions about relationships, dating, marriage, and of course sex. And that leads to episodes that may not be suitable for all listeners and are really designed to be listened to by married couples. Such is the case today. In the last month ten questions have arrived on the question of MouthAction. The question is always the same: Pastor John, is this practice permissible in a Christian marriage, or is it always sinful?

Questions relating to sexual intimacy should, I think, be handled with what you might call verbal modesty, rather than shocking or crass words. I think dressing and talking in immodest ways are both ways. So that is kind of governing some of my language now. These are real concerns. I am okay with this question. It is a little bit difficult and sensitive, but it is okay. People want biblical guidance, and so here is my effort at biblical wisdom.

First of all, I am assuming the question is only relating to people who are married when I give this counsel. I think it is wrong outside marriage. And we can talk about that another time more extensively. But here is the short answer. Why? MouthAction is even more intimate and delicate, it seems, than copulation. And we know this because even married couples are wondering if they should go there. It is as if it is a stage of intimacy that may not even be proper for married people. And so to think it can be an innocent substitute for copulation so people can obey the letter of the law outside marriage is a mirage. That is the first observation.

In marriage, here is what I would say. If MouthAction is wrong, I can think of four possible reasons it would be wrong. I will name them and then I will ask this question. Do those four things exist?

It would be wrong if it were prohibited in the Bible.
It would be wrong if it were unnatural.
It would be wrong if it were unhealthy or, that is, harmful.
It would be wrong if it were unkind.
So let’s take those one at a time.

1. I don’t think MouthAction is explicitly prohibited in any biblical command. If the Bible proscribes it, it would have to be by principle and not by an explicit command.

2. Is it unnatural? This is a tricky one. The male and female genitals are so clearly made for each other that there is a natural fitness or beauty to it. What about MouthAction? Now you might jump to the conclusion and say: Nope, that is not natural. But I am slow to go there because of what the Proverbs and the Song of Solomon say about a wife’s breasts. This is kind of an analogy. So, consider this: It seems to me nothing is more natural than a baby snuggling in his mother’s arms drinking at her breast. That is what breasts are. They are designed to feed babies.

It is unkind to pressure your spouse for MouthAction when he or she finds it unpleasant. Outdo each other in kindness. Tweet Share on Facebook
So, is there anything physically natural about a husband’s fascination with his wife’s breasts? Well, you might say no. That is not what breasts are for. But Proverbs 5:19 says, “Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.” And Song of Solomon 7:7–8 are even more explicit, speaking of the woman: “Your stature is like a palm tree and your breasts are like its clusters. I say I will climb the palm tree and lay hold of its fruit. Oh may your breasts be like clusters of the vine.”

Well, even though there is very little anatomical correlation between a man’s hands or his lips and his wife’s breasts, it surely seems to be “natural” in another way; namely, built-in delight and desire that God in his word seems to commend for our marital enjoyment. So, I ask: Well, might there be similar desires for MouthAction or other kinds of sex? So, I doubt that we should put a limit on a married couple based on the claim of it being unnatural. That is risky, but that is where I come down on the naturalness of it.

3. Is it unhealthy or harmful? Well, it certainly might be if there are any sexually transmitted diseases present. And it could be performed in harmful ways. And so, the couple needs to be very honest and caring by not taking risks that would be unloving.

4. Which leads to the last question: Is it unkind? Now I think this one is probably the one that touches the rawest nerve and the one that has the greatest impact. Will you pressure your spouse for MouthAction if he or she finds it unpleasant? If so, then you are unkind. And it is a sin to be unkind. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind to one another.” But the key word here is pressure.

I know that 1 Corinthians 7:4 says, “the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.” And the context there is sex. So, what does that mean practically? Well, it means that both the husband and the wife have the right to say to the other: I would like to [fill in the blank]. And both of them have the right to say: I would rather not [fill in the blank]. And in a good marriage, the biblically beautiful marriage, both of them seek to outdo the other in showing kindness.

So, those are my principles, Tony, that would guide the Christian couple in this matter of MouthAction.
