Certainly u know nothing about football.
As the years go, teams from supposedly weak countries get stronger. The last men's world cup should have been an eye opener to u. How did Germany, Brazil and other strong teams of yore fare against mediocre teams of years back? Countries have improved and the level of competition is now higher in football. Victory is not easy to guarantee nowadays unlike then when you can close your eyes and vanquish an opposition team.
Get your facts right.

Talk about mediocre, we are one the mediocre team on world stage, especially in the women football and have we fared against the likes of US, Germany and France?

The question is not wether other teams have improved, obviously they have.

The real question is have your falcons improved as well? And the emphatic answer is NO!

If they have improved then they should be competing with likes of US, Brazil and Germany.

Check one team that has improved beyond doubt; talk about the English women team , that is a country that was in our level before (if not below us) now currently ranked third in the world.
How do we fare when up against the best in the world?
Compare and contrast?

@POLITICSNGR

Below is a Press Statemenr from the Ministry of Information and Culture;

My attention has been drawn to a press conference addressed by the Ilorin Emirate Magaji/Alangua Forum in Ilorin on Tuesday, 4 Dec. 2018, during which I was alleged to have said that the 'Berlin Wall' of the Ilorin Emirate had been broken by the outcome of the 17 Nov. 2018 by-election in the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.

Those who made the allegation referred to a news item published in The Nation newspaper of Monday, 19 Nov. 2018, entitled ''Kwara Berlin Wall Broken, Says Lai Mohammed''.

While it is indeed true that I mentioned the Berlin Wall in my speech at the victory rally in my country home in Oro on Sunday, 18 Nov. 2018, it was undoubtedly in reference to the stranglehold of the Saraki political dynasty on Kwara politics . Not once did I mention the Ilorin Emirate during that speech, and I challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to release such. It is instructive that the news item that was referenced by those who made the allegation never mentioned Ilorin Emirate or made any reference to the traditional institution.

It is safe to conclude, therefore, that those who tried to inject the Ilorin Emirate into the whole issue acted out of shameful desperation. This is not a surprise, considering that they are yet to recover from the devastating defeat that they suffered in the by-election.

For the record, I hold the Ilorin Emirate, and indeed all our nation's traditional institutions, in very high esteem, and will never do anything to bring them to disrepute. No candidate for any political office in Kwara State will downplay the importance of the Ilorin Emirate, which is a father to all. Those who are grappling at straws, having realized that their hegemonic hold on Kwara State is coming to an end, are the instigators of this lie from hell that the Berlin Wall of the Emirates has been broken.

The traditional chiefs who echoed the fake news concocted by the fading political warlords of Kwara should be wary of doing anyone's hatchet jobs. They should not allow themselves to be used to denigrate the reverred Ilorin Emirate, which should be absolutely non-partisan. The traditional chiefs must realize that it is only by standing up for truth and justice that they can most effectively play their role of maintaining the 'ever solid wall of peace, unity, progress and stability' in the Emirate.

The defeat suffered by the tormentors of Kwara on 17 Nov. 2018 is a sign of what they should expect in the forthcoming general elections in the state. No amount of lies or other acts of desperation will save them from imminent defeat. Power flows from the people, and it is clear that the people of Kwara have totally rejected those who have appropriated the state's commonwealth to themselves to the detriment of the long suffering people of Kwara State.

The 2015/2016 oil price plunge was the driving factor that led to Nigeria falling into a recession, due to the country’s heavy reliance on oil proceeds. The need for revenue diversification became more apparent as the recession deepened. With the current rebound in global oil prices, the increase in the pace of oil production, and gross domestic product (GDP) growth creeping back into positive territory, the push for diversification may once again take a back seat.

It is important, however, to recognize that the rate of economic growth can be accelerated if revenue earning agricultural commodities are given adequate attention. The urgent need for diversification of the economy requires unwavering action. An investment in the cocoa industry should be part of this strategy as Nigeria was once a powerhouse in cocoa production and has the agricultural land and climate to sustain it.

Overview of Nigeria’s cocoa market

Cocoa was a major agricultural export crop and a top foreign exchange earner in the 1950s and 60s. Prior to the discovery of crude oil in commercial quantities in the 1970s, Nigeria was the world’s second largest producer of cocoa. Average cocoa production declined from 420,000 tons in the ‘60s to 170,000 tons in 1999. Production climbed to 389,272 tons between 2000 and 2010, but fell back to 192,000 tons in 2015 and 2016. After dropping to fourth place, Nigeria is now the sixth largest producer.

Proshare Nigeria Pvt. Ltd.

In the past, the Nigerian cocoa market was a monopsony a situation where one buyer, through a marketing board, controlled a large proportion of the market. The 1980’s structural adjustment policies (SAPs) imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank recommended that the government dissolve the ineffective marketing board in order to liberalize cocoa marketing and trade, and allow improved cocoa output and pricing.

Against the backdrop of declining production and collapse of the commodity board members due to market liberalization, the National Cocoa Development Committee was established in December 1999 by the Obasanjo administration. Its objective was to develop a sustainable blueprint for reviving the waning cocoa sector. Other objectives included improving cocoa quality and increasing production from 170,000 tons to 320,000 tons per annum in the short term and in the long term to 600,000 tons per annum. However, this ambitious plan for cocoa rehabilitation is yet to be realized.

Cocoa farming in Nigeria is predominantly carried out by smallscale farmers who have outdated skills and limited access to finance and technology. Cocoa is grown in the southern region due to the favorable soil and climate condition. The top growing states Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti account for about 60% of the cocoa production and make up at least 30% of the total cocoa export in Nigeria. Ondo is rated the largest cocoa producing state with an output capacity of about 77,000 tons per annum.

Other producing states include Cross River, Kwara, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Abia, Rivers, and Adamawa. After oil and gas exports, the largest revenue earners, cocoa beans, are the second most exported commodity. However, cocoa merely contributed 0.05% to GDP in 2016 from 0.3% in 2010. The cocoa industry has significant potential but is still underutilized. For instance, in the South West and SouthSouth region, thousands of acres of fertile lands suitable for cocoa cultivation are currently idle and wasting away.

This is a lie.

Cross River is the second highest producer of cocoa in the country. Abia does not even register in the production of cocoa.

These are the rankings:

1. Ondo
2. Cross River
3. Oyo
4. Edo
5. Osun
6. Ekiti

These are the only 6 states that produce cocoa in enough quantity to even collect statistics on.
I don't dabble into mindless argument. What is your definition of enough quantity ?

You are the statician chief in Nigeria?

There's a difference between cocoa produce and Cocoa export .
In terms of export ,Cross River doesn't even count ,same with Abia... that because exporters usually come from the West to buy up produce from other states and then add up the volume to theirs.

This is an industry am a stake holder in , you can choose to believe what you want.
