Crime / Re: Babatunde Adeluka Olubasa: Gunmen Assassinate Businessman In Ondo by chuksjuve(m): 12:15pm On Dec 29, 2020
Ever8090:
I have my reservations about people getting short by unknown gun men because sometimes the dead knows the gun men and what led to his death. I got this feeling after my experience with a man that I am still suffering today..as a builder he contracted me to help do a job for him in Anambra state (a school project) which I had to relocate from port Harcourt to such a remote area in Inoma Anambra West the last community between Anambra and Kogi state. The road to the community is not motorable during raining season I had to move materials trough river Niger.
Some days I will be on the river from Onisha to the village around 10 in the night on boat and I don't even know how to swim.
My experience the last day I went through the road with materials after heavy rainfall is something I won't wish on my enemy.
The truck got stuck in the mud, in the process of trying to get it out, the vehicle got spoilt I had to treke with the boy from the community that accompanied me to Onisha, from 8 in the early hours of the night to 2:30 mid night before we arrived the village. which I had to set my alarm to wake me up by 4:30 so that I could get a bike to take me to the vehicle in the early hours. The driver has gone back to Agurere to get mechanic to bring in the morning . After repairs,we discovered that one of the tire of the truck was flat we had to drive back to Agurere to fix it.
On our way back to the community, the vehicle got stuck in the mud 3 times. I removed my cloths down to my under wears because each time the vehicle got stuck, we have to remove the mud and cut trees from the bush to help the tires roll.second to the last time that the vehicle got stuck, tears rolled down my eyes because all hope was lost to get it out but with God intervention we eventually succeed.
The last time, we were there struggling to get it out then the cloud became dark with rain, we succeeded again and took of, mind you I left home the previous day about 6am got home after trekking from 8 to 2:30 mid night the woke up by 4:30 and by the time we got the vehicle out for the last time, it was already 5-6 in the evening of the following day..the rain started as we drove through it to the site. The driver was insulting me trough out the journey because I was the one that pleaded with him to come.he was concern on how he will get his vehicle out of that village, and I tell you, we were the last people that got to that village by road during that raining season.
The rest of the materials I carried trough the river by boat.
The accommodation I got, was like a cemetery, 4 people were buried in the house and I was sleeping there alone.
So many things I went through if I continue It will take you guys hours to read through, but guess what!! After the job, the money has been posting me for my money which is 1,167,000. It is getting to 2 yes now. Even when my dad died, I begged him for just 160,000 out of the one-point-sixty seven thousand to enable me lay my dad to rest, he told me he doesn't have money. That man has not givine me eve 5 naira out of the money as I speak..right now, he has stop picking my calls..

So if I am someone without the fear of God, if I find a way to eliminate him.. someone who doesn't know the story will lay courses on me which I believe will not even work..but for the fact that there was no written agreement, I don't think there is anything I can do than to leave everything to God..I approached the police but they told me it is a civil case and they can't do anything, the lawyer I met told me without documents, it will be difficult.

So don't just conclude when you see people die like this, some are not innocent..

Sorry about your ordeal ..

However the truth of the matter is simply this;

There are some project you should learn to say NO to, you won't die! Especially in the rural area..

It's not always wise and advisable to kick start certain project without adequate mobilization..

Hope you have learnt your lesson ..

Yes. If a poor widow in my family grinds pepper daily and sell pepper by the side on a busy street, she will go home with like 1500 daily and more than that at weekends. She can do N500 ajo which gives like N1m in about 5 years. So she becomes a millionaire in less time it takes to finish even primary school.

She won't be wasting time and resources on the social media so she will be fairly richer than most of the people wasting their time online.

Your first answer was spot on and ok by me but your shalaye ended up selling you off ..

How many supposed pepper sellers are millionaires going by your narratives!

You are really not realistic in your analysis, you are just writing from assumptions.

You better wake up from your assumption and understand that this government is not gonna make millionaires out of petty traders through those shenanigans called empowerment.

Who made you poor, you better wake up and smell the coffee, your life is what you make it.
So who made people poor in America, and Europe or you think there are no poor people there too?.
Get a better life for yourself, don't wait for whatever life throws at you.
The Quest for a better future, is what differentiate the rich, and the average, from the poor, the people you call " the poor " attend party every weekend wearing newly made aso ebi. grin grin grin, yet they are poor.
Some people leave their homes by 4 am in the morning to go do their jobs, they don't even have time to attend parties as all they do is work.
These people are not mad, they just don't like the idea of waiting for handouts.
Stop being uneccessarily emotional, life is a just employer too, it will pay you for as much as you are willing to put in, don't settle for less.
Good morning.

Sorry to say!

You ended up writing nonsense with lots of words, your attemp at trying to motivate people out of holding the government accountable to their constitutional responsibility just failed!

Try something else or keep shut when you don't have anything meaningful to say with regards the topic on ground.

Poverty alleviation works in a conduisive business environment.

Vaughanlanrewaj:

Please don't repeat this sir. It is completely wrong and clearly elitist or lack of understanding of developmental microeconomics.

Even in High School economics, poverty cycle is taught. Those items being donated by LASG are items that have greater and quicker impact on taking people out of poverty cycle. It comes from position of knowledge and I commend the government.

They are targeted at women and women are more likely to prioritise the feeding of their children than men and these women may now have extra to save in ajo on a daily basis after meeting basic survival needs. So while it may take years to finish major infrastructures, these women can survive until then.
To escape the poverty trap, the first thing you must achieve is savings followed by investment. Poor people, world over, hardly have enough to spend on basic needs, let alone have anything left to save.

This is very commendable in a place like Lagos but I am not sure it will work in Osun, probably the women may need agricultural tools than sewing machines.

In Nigeria, urban dwellers are actually those cheating the poor in the villages; for years, even without having roads , internet, water ,cars and electricity, they were picking up the bills used to fund petrol and electricity subsidy of their urban dwelling relatives to the point that nothing is left in national budgets even to buy medicines in their village cottage clinics.

If a developmental revolution must begin in Nigeria, it must start from those villages to shift resources to helping our poor in the villages not this elitist one by endSars protest or political state actors like Sowore.

The revolution must be organic and bottom up from the cheated Nigerian villagers and whoever must lead it should be from among them. Not those junketting around in brief cases calling themselves development expert. Our poor villagers must force government to give them a substitute of the subsidies their urban relatives are enjoying or enjoyed for years.

They must impose special developmental tax on their relatives returning to the villages and such funds must be used to fund their own economic and political activities.

We had a similar one with the Agbekoya and India is on the throes of one with the riots by farmers for days now. Those farmers are the real poor who are now piling pressure on Indian government.

This 24hr internet dwelling lifestyle itself that makes one privileged subsidy-enjoying Nigerian to be suggesting that the poor denied of everything do not need empowerment , itself is a reflection of how Nigerian urban dwellers think. They hardly imagine that the internet itself is a luxury these poor villagers can't afford yet pick up bills for those whose stock in trade is sabotaging the country after enjoying far more privileges than the real poor Nigerians in our villages.

If you are a villager privileged to read this, please note that your redemption and economic liberation is not in the hands of your urban relatives, as a matter of fact, they are part of the burden you carry.

To emancipate yourself, organize and insist that for any subsidy or privilege given to your urban dwelling relatives, an equivalent of it must be provided for your villages too.

Everything is not about those who have access to internet and can write English, there are real people suffering from the way government give more priority to the loud urban dwelling Nigerians but the lives of the poor especially in our villages too matter.

One question for you in all these your epistle to launder poverty and low-living,

Can you recommend any of these items for any of your family member?

Waiting for your answer?

Yes or No?

Don't shalaye!

Thank you

The north is peaceful compare to how it was before the coming of Buhari... This is the bitter truth you lot don't want to hear.

Back then no single state was safe in the north including kano and Abuja.

Now in the whole of North East we only having Bokoharam in Borno villages that are close to the forest.

Adamawa that was once under Bokoharam is now free and doing well.

Yobe is now developing and growing stronger than ever before.

Gombe is now free and also fast developing.

Bauchi is free too and developing...

North east is now safe... And soon Borno villages will be set free.

The only security challenges in the north west is banditry in the villages of South Kaduna, Zamfara and kastina.

The north shall prevail!

Honestly, banana island has become too accessible and the more economically empowered the elites of any society becomes, the more they begin to run towards the next thing.

This psyche in itself is ultimately why Africa becomes a laughing stock.

Lagos ought to have independent blueprints for Lekki/Stretching towards igbobo Ikorodu with excellent ferry transport systems

Plan for Lekki and the likes. By the way Lekki was originally earmarked as a farming no residential location mind you

Separate one for Eko Atlantic. Separate one for Marina

If any engineer with good sense of engineering takes this up, any individual should be able to create series of Municipals blueprint and system and had over to the government

Thanks for the thread. I may take it up for my own state sha since I had something of this sort on my mind for my state
