This to my understanding is a TOTAL misinterpretation of the President's speech.
By A U members, it does not follow that Nigeria which just like Ghana is an ECOWAS Country and has Visa abolition agreement with all Ecowas Countries is included in the Ghana new Visa Policy.
Under Phase 2 Ecowas Protocols, citizens of member States have freedom of movement, residence and establishment of business in member States as long as they enter through recognized boarders with valid passports/entry permits.
The last time I checked, Ghana is still an ECOWAS Country so your post can be misleading.

However, why is it that if they want to buy dollars from us, they don't pay at parallel rate? For instance, when AdSense pays me at the end of the month in dollars, my bank credit my account at 198.5 to a dollar which is not even up to the CBN 199. Is that not corruption?

Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama has said that citizens from Nigeria and other African countries must apply for visas before allowed entry into Ghana.

The President said visas will be issued at the entry point and would attract an option of 30 days stay in the country.

This policy will take off from July before they will. be allowed to enter Ghana.

“With effect from July this year, we will be allowing citizens of AU Member States to enter our country and obtain visas on arrival with the option to stay for up to thirty days and experience what our country has to offer,” said President Mahama in his address.

Actually not greed regarding rice. As a kid visiting grandma in the village, everybody had at least a few acres of rice field. Almost everyone stored rice and eat till next rice season. Feeding off weaver birds was almost full time job when the rice is just milky around June\July. Stubborn birds just fashy scarecrows. Then grasscutter will just cut down large pockets of field overnight, avoiding traps. Heavy wind also decimate some.

You easily loose up to 70% of the rice. But the oversea growers do it intensively, with tractors, high yield species, modern silos, extremely low wastage and some with govt agric subsidy. If you have only about 35% of your rice surviving from only 10 acres in Abakiliki or Ofada, the price will have to go up. At the end, mass produced foreign rice will be a lot cheaper.

That is how American rice drove Ghanaians from local rice production. Just like 9ja and many other countries.
