Give it up to the Yorubas, Nobody can be as great as the macho, the invinsible Yoruba man. They created everything in this world. They even created God. I hope you are happy now?
MaziUche0: People tend to forget that Awolowo owes his life to Igbos such as Dr. Okpara. If he was sent to prison up North, we would not even be hearing the name Awolowo.
wesley80: Utomi is from Delta State but he cannot win the Governorship in Delta state, not because anyone that will be fielded in the next ten years come close to him in terms of political or intellectual ability but because he is an unknown quantity even in his own state! He simply does not have enough "political clout" in the Nigerian sense, to matter in our nations politics ( at least for now ). Utomi only appeals to the intellectual class, the news savvy, U and i who appreciate his intellectual prowess. In todays Nigeria our influence is limited to Nairaland and the pages of Newspapers, those that count are the political moneybags and the over 80% of our population that live on less than a dollar a day that are content with selling their votes for their share of a "bag of salt" or bag of rice during Christmas, afterall what other guarantee do they have that they'll be remembered after the elections? These two groups are locked in a seeming symbiotic but ultimately parasitic relationship and all we can do for now is watch! The only way to conquer these parasitic group is to infiltrate their ranks and set your agenda when you get to the top. Utomi is an independent therefor he stands no chance just like Donald Duke, but the likes of Fashola and Ribadu have what the others lack, not just respect but popularity not just with you and I but also among the political moneybags and the downtrodden. Utomi is good but blossomed with the wrong generation. Too bad.
If you said a governor such as Amaechi then I would say you may be on to something as an alternative to Utomi but instead you said Fashola, that just would not happen.Sorry.
Onlytruth: You are 100% correct on the bolded quote.
Frankly, I think Nigeria is ready for a female president. They just don't know it yet. A very smart, politically savvy, charismatic and courageous woman will shock people. There are lines she can use and use it effectively.
I agree. I think alot of african countries are in need of one. However, i think african countries are in need of a female president that carries core african values and afrocentric. We do not need women like those in the united states who are solely bent on being higher than men and vengeance against them. No feminist like Hilary Clinton. African women are the best in the world if kept away from from evil ways of western women ideology.
dinggle: Fashola has already stepped on toes in Lagos and he will do it federally.
Utomi was once asked what he would do about corruption if he becomes the president and his answer was Lets get there first!!! I was an Utomi disciple like y'all until that day. We need someone like late Gani (May his soul rest in peace) he was the first to say he would probe corruption from when Nigeria got independence. I dont know why Utomi would dodge such important question or play politics with it.
My presidential preference list/order.
1. Ribadu 2. Fashola 3. Utomi
If none of these guys contest then,
N.B:
I just sent Utomi the same question on his campaign website:
What will you do about corruption?, how will you fight corruption and ensure that those who stole money since Nigeria's independence are brought to book either dead or alive?, If dead how will ensure that they are sentenced after death and their jail term slammed on their graves so that generations unborn will know they were once enemies of Nigeria's progress.
I'm expecting a reply via my email and will post it here. It might change my mind and my presidential preference list.
I disagree with the highlighted for the simple fact that I have proof that says otherwise:
Onlytruth: I don't know. The last census was rigged as usual, and frankly without a tamper proof national ID card, it would be nearly impossible to conduct a credible census in Nigeria, thanks to the Obasanjos of Nigeria.
But we can beat all those tricks by picking a powerful candidate and voting massively for him/her next year.
I truly believe that the Igbo are the single largest ethnic group in nigeria i have many reason to support that but let me give one. When ojukwu ran for president he had the second largest amount of votes. This is in a country where Ojukwu is hated by majority of the company for "starting" the civil war. There is no way he could have got that many votes if he was not from a tribe that is majority. And on top of that the election was rigged in his opponents favor. imagine if that would have not happened. That im sure is the reason why OBJ didnt allow tribe to be included in the census.
Onlytruth: She does not need to worry about northern leaders. She only needs to build a grassroot political movement using local activists and women groups. Majority of northerners are poor. She needs to show them how she can change their lot and give them hope for a better future. Those talakawas would dump the so called northern leaders at the polls. Everybody wants a better future. It is the duty of a politician to demonstrate ability to provide that better future, and I believe this woman can do it.
The facts have to be stated that nigerians as a whole mentally arent ready for a female president. this is a country that bases choices off of emotions for gods sake.
That is where you and I differ. Take a simple trip down the memory lane in Nigeria and tell me (in all honesty) whether we Ndigbo have gotten what we deserve in Nigeria. You and I know that only Ironsi wielded power at the center and it was for 6 months only. If the Jan 1966 coup did not happen, by now we would have produced many Nigerian presidents. That is a fact. So, we cannot be happy with our state in Nigeria, especially when we can do something about it. Your membership of PDP is blinding you to a whole lot of possibilities for Ndigbo. Your partys vision is Obasanjos vision, and it is not good for Ndigbo. Obasanjo resolutely rejected calls to allow tribal demographics to be collected in the census forms (something that is common all over the world) because he was afraid that Igbo population would be known.
So, please spare me that thinking that Ndigbo don't need to contest because we do, and thank God we have a ready platform for it called APGA.
If Soludo is not ready (which I may agree), we have others like Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.
dinggle: Utomi is brilliant, YES!!! Utomi can Take Nigeria to the promise land, NO!!! Nigeria does not require only acedemic qualification, Nigeria requires people who will come rule and give their life as a sacrifice to Nigeria. People like Awolowo and Zik. Y'all shouldn't be fooled by Utomi's brilliance or education qualification. You do not have to be there to make changes. Start making changing when no one knows you and everyone will cry out for u.
Even Fashola cant take us there, he can only try. Ribadu will surpass them all, we have seen what he did in the past, tho! he made some few mistakes. To take Nigeria to the promise land, the first step is CRUSHING CORRUPTION, no past or present politician left behind, which means people OBJ, Atiku, Tunibu, Donald duke and IBB will to go to Jail when Utomi assumes office, can he do that If he cant he has no business being there. Cleanse Nigeria of corruption and all other good things will follow.
If Utomi comes up with any good programme tomorrow corruption will kill and frustrate it, and he might just give up and let the usual continue. Nothing works in Nigeria because of corruption. The cartels are too strong for govt. They need to be CRUSHED USING all tools including the military at the disposal of govt. If 50 politically corrupt cartel can be killed 140million Nigerians will enjoy Nigeria and be happy. How many did Rawlings kill?, but Ghana is better today.
Utomi is a one or two package applicant, we cant keep waiting to see, hence we need a total package politician. Ribadu has a face to save before the world. I dont know him personally, but I want my kids to be proud of Nigeria tomorrow.
Instead of Utomi lets draft Ribadu to come and kill corruption in 4yrs, then we draft in Fashola after Ribadu's first term, there after we can then draft Utomi when the coast is clear and all the bone work is done for his sugar coated brilliance. Nigeria will be the greatest country on earth.
And what the hell made you think for one second that Fashola is willing to give his life for nigeria? Fashola never! Utomi is the guy
Onlytruth: I don't think we should run as vice presidential candidate to anybody. That would defeat the aim of the whole thing. We need to send a powerful message to other Nigerians that we are equal stakeholders in Nigeria and not second fiddlers. At least that is one area the governors were right. Even if the candidate fails to win, the message will be powerful if he nearly beats the winner, and I know it will be that close if we put our minds to it.
That second fiddle mindset is part of why PDP will never serve our interests in Nigeria. The PDP has an already mapped out national vision designed by Obasanjo which schemes to turn Ndigbo into a minority tribe in Nigeria.
That is why I advise all discerning Igbo politicians to leave the PDP en masse.
I support the highlighted 100%. A major move like that would really get things moving for us.
OAM4J: The major challenge of Ndigbo up until now is their inability to speak with one voice and rally round one formidable candidate.
Every time a position is zone to Ndigbo, you'll find 50 or more candidates ready to battle it out.
Also Ndigbo has to present credible candidates with good track records, if you keep throwing up candidates like Orji Uzor Kalu, other zones will have no choice but to look the other way.
The think is people are out for self and their cronies. Igbos dont through out candidates like uzo kalu.he just comes out like many others to help through things off to help him and his elite cronies in the other parts of the country.
mikeansy: I did not say I want IBB to be President, I am simply saying that I have not heard Utomi whether in this election or in last election say anything as good as what IBB has offered so far. The debate is about who is making sense, it does not mean I wanna vote IBB.
My candidate is Donald Duke and I believe he is head and shoulders above Pat Utomi. Pat Utomi is no political leader and its time for pat to simply realise that. He is a good man but he is simply not a political leader, rigging or no rigging Pat Utomi can not inspire people to go to the polls for him.
bk.babe97y: Nah, its actually hilarious how I crap on urs. . . . and force feed your corpse the rejected "waste" of my breakfast, lunch and dinner. . . .
mikeansy: Whether IBB means what he says is a totally different debate.
But his proposals of running a lean central government, devolution of powers to State and LGA, encouraging State Policing while refocusing the efforts of the central Government on National Security, Foreign Policy is at the heart of the sort of ideas that can remake Nigeria.
So IBB may be lying or being the maradona we always knew once again. But if you forget all that and look at the policies on their merit, you will see that IBB has very juicy policies.
Don't be wooed by political promises.listen to intelligence and structure in a candidates speach. That is how 1st world countries are where they are today. So your admitting his incompetence but you still support him? youre argument is of no substance. One of IBB's main problems is his lack of structure. He's too scattered in thinking thats why he fail woefully during his last bid. any nigerian can tell you that.
bk.babe97y: Dude, I will start off by calling you a "TYPICAL IBO MAN", which means its not surprising to see that youre a liar and a snake, probably a drug dealer and kidnapper too; common in your neck of the woods, u see!
I am always the "first" to insult!? Thats your position, right? Ok, I stated mine. . . . nothing more to say to you!
^^^ Supports what i typed earlier.
One is not standing up for himself when he is always they first to insult. All the moderator has to do is go to the beginning of every topic he posted on and realize that he is always the one to start tribal bigotry even in topics that don't mention a single word of a tribe. As far as fair goes. Its highly unfair that common member aren't allowed to have a full intellectual conversation about an important topic because they are of a particular tribe, better yet ethnicity. Don't support wrong when you know there is wrong, instead encourage that person to stop. Like i said all Mod has to do is go on the topics hes has posted on and read it from the begining and all check the topic he himself has put up.Thats all.
bk.babe97y: But its fun when you do it right? Man take a hike. . . . and try not to kidnap nobody for dinner on the way, like them Ibo boys in India*!
P.S: fact---IBO DUDES DID TRY TO EAT THIS ONE LIL INDIAN BABY GAL A FEW DAYS AGO. IT WAS REPORTED ALL OVER THE MEDIA. YOU CANT BAN ME FOR SPITTING THE TRUTH!
Its funny how you shyt on your own grave. why not be lady-like?.
You always hear that a nigeria scientist has come up with a cure but nothing ever comes out of it. then you don't hear about the person again. Same old story
Aigbofa: The people who complain the most are the ones who will never miss an opportunity to make a snide remark about other ethinc groups.
This guy is probably the most abused on Nairaland, yet he doesn't complain, the only complainers are the 'army" of abusers who daily assail him.
And they still want him banned for standing up for himself? How fair is this?

seanet02: we the YORUBAS HAVE ALWAYS FEEL CAUTIOUS SINCE THOSE DAYS YOU TRY TO EXTEND THE DEADLY WAR TO LAGOS. FORGOTTEN HOW YOU TRY TO FINISH US IN ORE IF NOT THAT WE WERE SIMPLY UNCONQUERABLE. WE ARE CAUTIOUS ABOUT YOU BECAUSE ojukwu says there is no prisoner of politics in the east when clearly AWOLOWO WAS BEEN HELD IN CALABAR FOR TRUMP UP CHARGES.
SO WE CANT UNITE EXCEPT TO UNITE AND BREAK UP NIGERIA
Finish you all in ore? Are u serious?!!!!!! The Eastern region had no beef with yall. You people werent even on top of the game event until this day so what would be the purpose? You got it all wrong. Lagos was the Head Quarters. you win a war by going after the head quarters.Duh. If the headquarters was in abuja like it is today then there would be no need to have even step foot in such a place. Oh and best believe it wasnt because of Igbos or Ojukwu that your precious and beloved awowolo was thrown in jail. Read your history. WE DONT NEED UNITY WITH THOSE PEOPLE UNDER ANY TERMS WHETHER ITS TO BREAK UP NIGERIA OR NOT
IbrahimB: What of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo or Francis Arthur Nzeribe? My Igbo brethren, what do you think of the suitability or otherwise of these two Gentlemen for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?
One candidate and one candidate only. We are sticking with Pat Utomi.
Neptunz: the same thing persuasion that is used against ibo to step down for Goodluck was exactly what happend to ibo aspirants in the case of yaradua.the niger deltans candidated were more outspoken and ambitious than the low-esteem ibo aspirants who quickly stepped down for yaradua. .folks like victor Attah, odili and donald duke fought till the eve of the convention;only to declare their support for yaradua in the morning. the issue is that pdp had never consider an ibo candidate up till today but if you claimed okorocha would have won,i will continue to laugh cuz okorocha is obj stooge who was used to split the ibo votes.he acted a script and soon after the election,he went back to pdp and now he is the chairman of red cross under pdp govt.what does that tells you ?
They did not step down for yaradua, 70% votes of a country is clearly a rig in.guess ur going to have to continue laughing cause im standing by my word.
Neptunz: it has nothing to do with rigging if you dont know.they both declared for the presidency but odili had to step down on the day of the convention when it was alledged that Efcc tracked money which he wanted to share to the delegates in the hotel he lodged in abuja.odili never went to poll while okorocha was only there to act a script besides obj respected the zoning agreement by supporting yaradua,so there is no way an ibo president would have emerged.
And the EFCC just happens to catch him around election time, right. I dont see foul play from any of the godfathers there . Look its the same old tricks that nigeria plays every election. Is Odili in jail now?No. IBB respected the zoning agreenment thats why he tried to go for a third term right?lol. funny. We would have had an Igbo president if not for rigging(which includes EFCC harassment) period. Like it or leave it,it is the truth.
Neptunz: i doubt if you really know how nigeria politics is being run.Okorocha was a very close ally to obj who was brought him to play the spoiler game.he was partly in Action Alliance and partly in Pdp.the only person that would have clinged the pdp seat is Odili who was the only threat against yaradua because he had everything in place to have become the flagbearer save for his agreement with obj to ensure his immunity against prosecution by Efcc,so there is no way an ibo president would have emerged in 2007
Oh I doubt that. If not for the rigging it would have been one of the the two Okorocha or Odili. Overall, there would have been an Igbo president.
wkkwl: A typical nigerian man is greedy<over ambitious too>ok i dont really know how to say this, but i really think nigeria shuld be divided, dats the only way to deal with greed and self centeredness nigerians have,we are no exception from our leaders that steal money for their gains,ok, u c, ok in the u.s its said that they are really scare of nigerians,in terms of business nd all,a nigerian man comes up with a business proposal,nd persuades u to invest in his idea, when the busines starts yielding income, they run off with the money, leaving u frustrated, they do it their fellow nigerians, talkless off, take a look at the yahoo, yahoo, the mobile yahoo scam too, they send that message to my cell too, and my email too, take a look wat happened when i was travling from delta state to anambara state, when i got to anambara state,i was actually travling to p.h,i had to take dat way, i hve never been to anambara before,,i boarded a bic,so i told him i was going to were the load bus thats going to porthacourt,he told me its 200,i said y nw ,he said the place far,so i managed 2 bring it down to 150,so as i was going i changed my mind i told him dat he shuld just take me to r.t.c'rivers state transport company'so i told so how much wil i pay since its near, he said that anywere u drop is 150,igbo man, sense, he is just too greedy,bt when i was in delta, a bic too me 2 my location for just 70,he even helped me look for the place, i am typing with my phone,i wish i culd pour all my heart, tell me if you think, ,a nigerian man is greedy?
Youre story is not making sense. Either you're making this story up or you are an outsider. You never been to anambra before so how did you know that River State Transport Company was near in the first place? Hmmmmm. Second, The part that you "took" to enter anambra from Delta State is Igbo so where's this whole Igbo man being greedy coming from if another Igbo man charged you 70 instead of 200 or 150? Hmmmm. Sounds like you either are an outsider or never even been to that side of the country period to not no that that part of delta was igbo as well as anambra. Hmmmm. If you are in any country in the world, especially a third world country in the world and you show weakness, u will get taken advantage of one way or the other or soon or later. But all in all your story is not adding up.
OAM4J: ^^Pat Utomi is a presidential candidate, am just wondering why Igbos are not supporting him, and my guess is that since he is a delta-Ibo (or so I think) may be, Ndigbo think he is not a full blooded Igbo.
Its not that Igbos didnt vote for him its just that other igbos ran for presidency too, that took away from some votes.they didnt come together and agree on having only one igbo candidate. in igbo the say "Igbo wu Igbo" Igbo is Igbo, no matter from which part,we know who our brothers are. Theres no such thing as SE Igbo or SS Igbo to us.
