Nnadozie joins Enugu guber race News Dec 16, 2010 By Onozure Dania PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, governorship nomination in Enugu State has taken a new dimension, with the entry into the race of Mr. Val. O Nnadozie, amid speculations that the incumbent governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime, is making arrangements to contest the elections on the platform of either the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA or Accord Party. Addressing a crowd of party supporters, the Director-General of the Campaign Organization, Mr. Harford Chijioke, noted that the wind of change blowing in the PDP and Enugu State, in particular, was inevitable, considering the enormous economic and social stress which the people of the state had been subjected to in the past three years. He said: “We had hoped that the situation will change for better when the present administration came to power in 2007, but it is very clear to every discerning person in Enugu State that we have been shortchanged.” According to him, Nnaedozie’s entry into the governorship race of the State was motivated by his passion to serve his people and his belief that leadership is all about service. He stressed that Enugu State deserved more than what it had got in the past years in terms of leadership. According to him, “Enugu State needs visionary and credible leadership, the kind of leadership that will assuage the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.” He condemned what he called “governance by deceit”, and noted that the time had come for the genuine patriots of Enugu State to come together and called for God’s blessings upon the teeming party faithful present. In a message to the crowd of supporters, Nnadozie, who hails from Achi in Oji River Local Government area, said the destiny of Enugu and his were in God’s hands and not in the hand of any man, stressing that he only relied on God and The Holy spirit for Guidance and Enugu people who yearned for aggressive industrialisation and rural development, quality education and youth empowerment, mass housing for both civil servants and other citizens of Enugu State for his support. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/12/nnadozie-joins-enugu-guber-race/ |

Pro-North group ‘commissioned’ to stop PDP primaries Written by Taiwo Adisa Friday, 17 December 2010 A pro-North political group, the Northern Patriots under the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Saleh Hassan, has been mandated to file a suit to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from continuing with the process of conducting its primaries and national convention until the issue of zoning is properly resolved. Sources told the Nigerian Tribune that a meeting of key leaders of some northern groups in Abuja, on Tuesday, took the decision to mandate the Northern Patriots to file the suit against the PDP. “The Northern Patriots met yesterday and resolved to go to court to stop the PDP from holding presidential primaries of national convention until the determination of all cases on the issue of zoning,” a source confirmed on Wednesday. The Nigerian Tribune had reported on Tuesday that the North was hatching fresh plots to scuttle the primaries and national convention of the PDP. It had been reported that two strategic suits were being planned by some northern groups, allegedly, at the instance of the Northern Elders Assembly (NEA) and the Alhaji Adamu Ciroma-led Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF). Sources said that the court would be one of the strategic moved aimed at scuttling the national convention and primaries of the party. Also emerging from separate meetings, Tuesday night, it was confirmed that three of the pro-consensus presidential aspirants, General Ibrahim Babangida, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the Kwara State governor, Dr Bukola Saraki, were said to have further reaffirmed their support for the consensus idea of the NPLF. The Nigerian Tribune confirmed that the planned suit by the Northern Patriots would be the first of such suits aimed at stopping the PDP. Another suit seeking the interpretation of the zoning clause in the PDP Constitution is also said to be in the offing. In another development, a founding member of the PDP and an ally of former Vice-President Abubakar, Alhaji Yahaya Kwande, has asked the party to either reform its constitution or ask Dr Goodluck Jonathan to quit the presidential race. Kwande, who was reacting to a statement credited to the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega’s statement, that the commission would not accept candidates who violated their parties’ constitution, asked the national executive of the PDP to disqualify President Jonathan from the 2011 race. He said that the leadership of the PDP and Jonathan should take the path of honour on the zoning issue. Kwande also insisted that Jonathan’s ambition breached Section 7 of the PDP amended constitution, which provides for zoning of elective offices. He said: “The PDP cannot eat its cake and have it. The party needs to summon an urgent meeting to take on a decision to either remove zoning from the party’s constitution or direct Jonathan to exit from the race to save the party and indeed Nigeria from further polarisation.” http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/14898-pro-north-group-commissioned-to-stop-pdp-primaries- |

Mind your utterances –SSS warns politicians From LAMBERT TYEM, Abuja Friday, December 17, 2010 The State Security Service yesterday warned politicians to be mindful of utterances that could undermine security and unity of the country. According to the SSS spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, some politicians, in their desperate quest to occupy public offices, were in the habit of making utterances that had implication to the security and unity of the country. The warning came on the hills of recent utterances of one of the presidential aspirants in the 2011 elections, perceived as incitement to violence. According to the SSS, “For some time now, the State Security Service has noted with grave concern the unguarded, reckless and divisive utterances of some prominent politicians. The Service has also noted that these utterances, apart from being very inflammatory and extremely inciting, are of deep and grave national security concern. “We are again reminded that democracy is about dialogue, negotiation and compromise. However, a situation where some of those aspiring to rule this nation have resorted, through their utterances, to make “the country ungovernable,” or calling for “a violent change,” is very despicable and unacceptable to this Service. This, to this Service, is beyond politics. “It must be reiterated that security is everybody’s business and cannot, therefore, be consciously breached on the altar of political expediency. Already, the unending trend of daily assaulting the psyche of Nigerians with statements of subversive bent is steadily fueling sectional hatred. The consequences, so far, have been an upsurge in political intolerance, violence, assassinations, abductions and stock piling of arms. “Accordingly, the State Security Service wishes to seriously warn all politicians to henceforth desist from making unguarded statements, which have the capacity to undermine and subvert the stability of the nation. “For the avoidance of doubt, democracy is about the rule of law. Accordingly, appropriate sanctions will be brought to bear heavily on any person found violating this warning.” http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/dec/17/national-17-12-2010-006.htm |
IBB, Atiku pushing Nigeria to the brink- EX- MEND commanders From Femi Folaranmi, Yenagoa Friday, December 17, 2010 The zoning debate within the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assumed a dangerous dimension with former commanders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), warning of the imminent break-up of the country. Former Military President, Ibrahim Babaginda, and former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar, had during a National Stakeholders’ Conference organised by the Adamu Ciroma-led Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) on Wednesday warned of dire consequences if the PDP abandoned the zoning principle. But reacting to the duo, the ex-MEND commanders, under the aegis of Ex-MEND Commanders Forum, said the statement credited to the two northernern leaders was an indication that the disintegration of Nigeria was near. The roup, in a statement signed by High Chief Bibopre Ajube (aka Shoot at Sight), ‘General’ Ezekiel Akpasibewei (ex-leader of the Niger Delta Underdogs) and ‘Commander’ Micah Kpenfi (aka Ota 1) warned that they would surprise the nation if their acceptance of the amnesty offer by the late president, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’adua, was taken for a ride. The statement read in part: “Our attention has been drawn to the despicably treasonable statement made by former military leader, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and his co-traveller, Atiku Abubakar, in which the duo threw caution to the winds, threatening President Goodluck Jonathan.” “While we hold firm to the belief that freedom of expression as enunciated in the nation’s constitution allows individuals to express their opinions on given issues, we view, in every aspect of their intents, the statement made by the two leaders, who have served the nation in various capacities, as very dangerous for the survival of this nation. “We have watched without concern as the debate about zoning or otherwise continues with political actors marshalling reasons why the presidency should go their way. We are not politicians; hence, we have left politics for politicians. “Nonetheless, we are amused that both IBB and Atiku, who are from the region that has utilised the resources of the Niger Delta to rule this country for more than 30 years since independence, are today threatening fire and brimstone over an attempt by someone from the Niger-Delta to take a shot at the presidency for once. “In unequivocal terms, their position, aside threatening the life of President Jonathan, amounts to calling for a coup and such is treasonable in every ramification. But we must warn that we are not taking this threat on the life of an Ijaw man lightly as we shall resist any attempt to give him the Abiola treatment. “We wish to further say that this call for violent change as canvassed by both northerners had aptly laid a dangerous foundation capable of eliciting vigilance that could eventually lead to the disintegration of Nigeria. If the intention of these leaders is to commence the process of Nigeria’s break-up, we are not unprepared for it if only to allow Nigerians enjoy their God-given resources for their benefit. Efforts to speak with the former General Officer Commanding of MEND, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), on the latest threat to to the Jonathan presidency was futile but his media aide, Paul Bebenimibo, who said Tompolo was in a crucial meeting, said the position of the two leaders “ was most dangerous.” http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/dec/17/national-17-12-2010-007.htm |

Beaf:Here's proof to what Beaf said: Army deploys 17,000 soldiers for internal security nationwide Written by Chris Agbambu, Abuja Thursday, 16 December 2010 The Nigerian Army has deployed 17,000 officers and soldiers for internal security operations in the South-East, Niger Delta, the Jos crisis, Bauchi and Borno states to curb militancy, internal crisis, kidnapping and Boko Haram uprising. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O.A Ihejirika, who announced this on Wednesday, during an interactive session with defence correspondents in Abuja, said that all training exercise for the year had to be cancelled for soldiers to be deployed for internal security operations. He disclosed that the operation in the South-East against kidnapping had been extended to Akwa-Ibom and Imo states, because the kidnappers were now hiding in the hinterland states, while the army had established a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Ikwuano and other parts of Imo State. On the operation in Ayakoromor in the Niger Delta against criminals in the creeks, the army boss disclosed that eight soldiers and six civilians were killed in a cross-fire. According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan in his magnanimity had directed the Nigerian Army to rebuild all the structures damaged during the encounter, while relief materials had been sent to people of the area. Towards this end, the army chief announced that army engineers had commenced work and within the next one week, construction work would begin in earnest. On the Boko Haram crisis, General Ihejirika said that new strategy had been mapped out and that the army was going to take stringent measures to checkmate the incursion of Boko Haram members. Also speaking on the killing of the kingpin of kidnappers in Abia State, Osisikankwu, General Ihejirika, said that the operation was to eliminate kidnapping in the South-East. He said that 12 children whose ages ranged from 5 to 12 years, and a nursing mother, were rescued from the enclave of the Osisikankwu. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/14842-army-deploys-17000-soldiers-for-internal-security-nationwide |
haka_nai:so let me get this straight, what atiku said isn't treasonable? |
marcdunu:So only a non-ambitious man should run for presidency? In what way is it baseless? |
marcdunu:"In many representative democracies, party leaders compete directly for high political office. For example, leaders of parties in presidential and semi-presidential republics will often run for President. In parliamentary systems of government, party leaders typically seek to become prime minister. It is thus typical in such states (e.g., in the Westminster system) for the party leader to seek election to the legislature, and, if elected, to simultaneously serve as the party's parliamentary leader." ^^^I read everything. It says party leaders compete directly for high political office. They gave the example of the leader of the political party going for presidency.Im guess you are refering this part to GEJ? Being that, by definition, GEJ is not the political party leader, it is not applying to him. It is saying the leader of the political party(Nwodo), will often run for presidency, which is not the case now as we speak,in nigeria. However, it wouldn't be uncommon for the PDP to put Nwodo up for presidency in 2015. Please my brother read deep into matters and statements. That is why we get ourselves into the nonsense we have going on now in nigeria. |
Back into slavery(Physically). We are already there mentally. |
marcdunu:"In politics, the party leader is the most powerful official within a political party. The party leader is typically responsible for managing the party's relationship with the general public. As such, he or she will take a leading role in developing and communicating party policy, especially election platforms, to the electorate. He or she is also typically the public face of the party and the principal media contact." This is clearly Nwodo. Also, Nwodo "within" the political party is the most powerful official. GEJ is the most powerful official in the country so he can definitely maneuver things;however, his power, by definition, is separate from the power of the leader of the PDP, which is Nwodo. Now, since nigeria isn't orderly then the otherwise is bound to make some people doubt that. |

personally i don't care but let me tell you the day you cross your silly boundaries again to do nonsense you guys will know the truth.
