mikeansy: Boko Haram and the North are already doing enough destroying Nigeria, nothing unites the rest of the country than the voice of the Igbo man. Let us take the back seat and let the wickedness of these people be obvious to the rest of the world.
If anything all I will expect from South East Governors is to encourage Igbos in the North to come back home and start a new life. Thats about it.
We are doing just fine. They are already digging a hole for themselves. There is no need engaging a drowning man in a fight!!! WORD. |

South Africa's President, Jacob Zuma The South African Preident says his country is ready to patner Nigeria to rid Africa of terrorism
South Africa's President, Jacob Zuma, on Thursday condoled with the Federal Government on the death of some Nigerians in the Christmas Day bomb attacks on some churches.
A statement by the Department of International Relation and Co-operation said Mr. Zuma also condemned the series of attacks which killed many people and damaged property in the country.
“Following the attacks of December 25, President Zuma has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to President Goodluck Jonathan, the Government and the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria particularly families of the deceased and the injured, ’’ the statement said.
The statement recalled that Zuma had during his recent visit to Nigeria pledged South Africa's willingness to work with Nigeria, within the ambit of the AU, to rid Africa of terrorism and other related ills.
Meanwhile, the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) of South Africa has also condemned the Christmas Day bomb attacks.
In a statement signed by its leader Abdul-Khaliq Allie, the Council said the act of violence by the militant Islamic group Boko Haram, who claimed responsibility for the attacks, was against the teaching of Islam.
“We condemn the killing of Christian worshippers. These killings can never be an act to be recorded in the name of Islam,” the statement said.

ShangoThor: Chyz, the only reason why the Nation State is not working is because of how it is structured. Are we so arrogant that we cannot agree to let the people decide in a U.N. Sponsored Referendum? Well, the structure has to be favorable and pretty much fare in every sense. We Igbos would like to go back to our tradition governmental system of ASSEMBLY and not any time of centralized system such as President or Governor of a state. If we want that but lets say MB and Yorubas dont want that because culturally it is alien to them then who does it work? |

Andre Uweh: Why do you not want them to be with their kits and kins in Igbo areas or states?. These people don't want to associate with Igbo at all. Some of them, upon all the mistreatment by the Edo gov, want to continue staying in Edo state. They the want to stay are asking that they get their own separate LGA. They now want to drop their Igbanke identity completely and take up the name ika. They have identity crisis. Can you believe that they had a conference abt a week and a half ago in lagos and was asking their people whether they should take up the identity of Bini or Ika?!!! What a shame. I don't know whether to feel sorry for them or laugh at them. Wow! it translates that they would rather be called somehting that they are obviously not(bini) than to fully claim Igbo. If we allow them into Anioma and they take the ika name, they will cause disuntiy among the ika and Anioma as a whole. Majority of Ika already claim Igbo but the Igbanke will spoil all of that. Its better they stay out of Anioma. |

@PhysicsQED, do you think its best that the Igbanke and Oza nogogo work with each other in such a way that the Oza Nogogo people will be ceded to Edo state and the Igbanke to Delta(basically swap place)? Although, because of recent interactions with these people(the igbankes) i dont really want them in Anioma State, but that is besides the point. |

What if their brother weren't killing them, I'm sure nothing like "we were wrong" would have come out from their mouths. DRANOEL: gutter nonsense! why are igbo's always trying to play the victims here?
history cannot be denied! flash back 1966, a group of igbo soldiers(mostly anioma) out of no just reason decided to murder cold bloodedly(if u've read the story well, u will knw how they massacred their victims) northern officers and politicians including lt.col pam(a middle belter) thus establishing nigeria's 1st tribal hate war! aguyi ironsi(after cajoling the ministers) assumed office and refused to bring the murderers to book instead made military appointments with igbo coloration thus establishing nigeria's 1st nepotic administration! igbo traders out of sheer stupidity taunted the northerners around them celebrating nzeogwu as a hero and the result; july 1966, which eventually led to the civil war! the rest of the country having been inroduced to this inhuman violence called 1st coup or revolution(depending on your bias) fought the igbos and history was made! nobody(these middle belt groups) should try and re write history because of current convenience! with out a doubt the misadventure of jan 1966 introduced mlitary rule, unitary system of govt(what we mistakenly refer to as federalism),nepotism and tribal hate!
no one should try to re write history because of current situations! Has nothing to do with Igbos trying to play the victim. Igbos weren't the ones who made those comments, the middle belters did. And now that they are not agree with your bias Yoruba azz they are now "trying to rewrite history". Laugh at yourself. It is clear, and becoming more clear by the day. After the death of the Ikemba so many things are coming to light from non-Igbos and they are vindicating the Igbos. The was nothing inhumane abt the coup. It was a COUP for G's sake. Also u are crazy for saying ironsi's admin was nepotic. You're funny son. Anyway the middle belt know their history,i dont think they need a s'westerner to tell them how it goes. |

Subsidy being used to fund the 2nd Niger Bridge? What a lie, or should I use Goodlucks famous word "dastardly"? what a "dastardly" lie. The 2nd Niger Bridge is already being funded by the IFC which is a member of the World Bank. What a way to try and get SE support. Read the below: Nigeria: IFC to Finance Second Niger Bridge
Michael Eboh, Favour Agbi And Olabisi Moshoba
15 November 2011
The International Finance Corporation, IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has said it will finance the construction of the second Niger Bridge.
The IFC in a statement made available to Vanguard, said its decision to finance the project is coming on the heels of a request by the Federal Government of Nigeria to that effect.
The IFC also said that it will provide advisory services for a new public-private partnership to build a hospital in Cross River State.
Speaking at the opening session of the Africa Regional Public-Private Partnership Conference, sponsored by IFC, the World Bank's Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility, and Nigeria's Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, in Lagos, Jean Philippe Prosper, IFC Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, said the financing of the second Niger bridge is in realization of the fact that Africa requires more than $90 billion annually in investment in maintenance and new projects, but is spending less than half of that.
According to him, well-structured Public-Private Partnerships in physical and social infrastructure are a priority for IFC because they can help African governments raise the large sums of capital required to meet infrastructure needs in energy, health, logistics, transportation, and water and sanitation.
Prosper said the IFC Advisory Services mandate will help the Cross River State government identify a private company to build and operate a new hospital.
"It builds on a successful mandate IFC received to help the government of Lesotho attract a private investor to build a world-class hospital in Maseru that opened in October. IFC will also consider the feasibility of a public-private partnership that would lead to investment for a second Niger River bridge crossing," he said.
Also speaking, Yolande Duhem, IFC Director for West and Central Africa said, "There is a large body of economic research that shows infrastructure investment results in more growth and poverty reduction. We thank the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility, PPIAF and the government of Nigeria for working together with IFC on this conference to promote these important partnerships.
"The impact of the infrastructure deficit is enormous. The World Bank, for example, estimates that the Nigerian manufacturing sector must bear additional indirect costs amounting to 16 percent of sales because of bottlenecks in the business environment, much of it related to infrastructure. Losses due to power outages alone amount to 10 percent of sales."

Abia moves to stop damage by herdsmen Wednesday, 21 December 2011 00:00 From Gordi Udeajah, Umuahia News - National TO check the increasing damage of crops on farms by herdsmen in Abia State, the state executive council has resolved to constitute a task force that will enforce the relevant laws. Information Commissioner, Okwubunka Don Ubani who told journalists of the move in Umuahia, said the task force will be resorted to if the media sensitization exercise being embarked upon fails to persuade the herdsmen to stop damaging farm crops with their cattle. He said the exco also constituted a committee headed by the Justice Commissioner, Chief Umeh Kalu to articulate modalities for effective, sustainable and accountable revenue collection for the state. The commissioner decried the reported proliferation of revenue consultants in the state, explaining that authentic revenue collectors and consultants are those recognised by the office of the state Accountant General and the Ministry of Finance. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=71464:abia-moves-to-stop-damage-by-herdsmen&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
