Phones / OPPO N1 Officially Unveiled. To Launch With Cyanogenmod by ciphoenix: 5:24pm On Sep 23, 2013 |
After many leaks and teases, the OPPO N1 has finally been unveiled in Beijing. The N1 has plenty of features, but probably the biggest standout is the 206-degree rotating camera. Also included is Pure Image, which is a hardware and software photography solution. It includes six physical lenses, a 1/3.06 imaging module, and f/2.0 wide aperture. The N1 also includes a light-diffusing LED flash, which includes a normal flash for back facing shots and a softer diffused light for front facing shots. Users can also adjust the brightness. Opening the camera app fast has always been an issue, but not with the N1. Users can open the camera in just 0.6 seconds from a sleeping screen via a simple 120-degree rotation. Lastly, the N1 supports long exposure photography of up to 8 seconds. The N1 features O-Touch, which is a rear touch panel that allows you to operate the phone with one hand more easily. It’s at the back of the device, and with one finger, you will be able to slide up or down, left or right, tap, double tap and long press for different functionality. The rest of the specs include a 5.9-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display at 377 ppi, a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, 13MP rotating camera with dual mode LED for both front and rear shots, 3,610 mAh battery, USB OTG, Bluetooth 4.0, GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, WCDMA: 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz, and Android 4.2 with OPPO Color UI. If quality matters to you, then you will also be happy to know that the frame is made with metal aluminum alloy, which is produced over a 20-day period along with a 14 step polishing process involving more than a dozen suppliers. The phone body is made with a ceramic-like material, which is smooth to the touch and will keep it free of fingerprints. The N1 also comes with the O-Click Bluetooth remote control. You can attach it to your keychain and it will allow you to send remote commands to your N1 or force it to ring if you’re not sure exactly where it is. As was teased, Cyanogen was on hand at the event. OPPO will offer both a Color version of the N1 as well a limited CyanogenMod Edition, which will come with CyanogenMod pre-installed. Users who own the Color version will also be able to flash CyanogenMod from stock recovery if they wish. The N1 will be available in white this October in China for a price of CN¥3,498 ($570) for the 16GB model. No pricing was specified for the 32GB version. The N1 will become available internationally in December. www.talkandroid.com/176167-oppo-n1-officially-unveiled-promises-to-redefine-smartphone-photography/ 1 Like

Phones / Microsoft Unveils The Surface 2 And Surface Pro 2 Tablets by ciphoenix: 4:45pm On Sep 23, 2013 |
Microsoft's Surface tablet was supposed to usher in a new generation of Windows RT products, targeted to compete more with iOS and Android tablets than full-featured laptops. The lukewarm reception Windows RT received meant that we've seen very few RT products since, and the Surface tablet itself was outshone by the superior Surface Pro, a slightly heftier version that ran full Windows 8 with an Intel Core i5 CPU. Both halves of the Surface line have been refreshed just in time for the 2013 holiday season, but it's the Surface 2, still running Windows RT, that has undergone a more complete makeover. This updated Windows RT version of the Microsoft Surface features a slightly slimmer body, an updated 1.7GHz Nvidia Tegra 4 processor (as first reported by CNET), and a higher-resolution screen than the original Surface. Both the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 share the same 1,920x1,080-pixel-resolution screen now, and it's been color-tuned for greater accuracy. Surface 2 also has improved front and rear cameras (3.5MP front, 5.0MP rear) for Skype and other Webcam use. While the Windows 8 Surface Pro 2 still comes in a slatelike black, the Windows RT Surface 2 is now a lighter color, more of a silver/magnesium (and the bodies of both are made of mostly magnesium). The logo branding on the back panel is different, reading "Surface" rather than "Microsoft," and the built-in kickstand now adjusts to two different angles, making the system easier to see from different positions. The original one-size-fits-all kickstand made the screen hard to see and interact with unless you happened to be sitting at precisely the optimal angle. MS says the new angle is 40 degrees, while the original is about 24 degrees. Both the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 will be available starting October 22. The Surface 2, with Windows RT, starts at $449, but the previous model Surface RT, will still be available for $349. The Surface Pro 2 starts (as the original Pro did) at $899, but the internal storage can be upgraded to a 512GB SSD. http://m.cnet.com/reviews/microsoft-surface-2-windows-rt/35827900 |

moonraker: Yea, sentiments shared. Like I saw this coming. I would own an iDevice if there was one with a 5.5" screen. IMO when it comes to sweets and apples, the open/close thing is overemphasized |

Shame on BlackBerry. More Shame on Google. Anyone can pose as a company and upload apps for people to buy in the playstore. They only root out fake apps at the request of the company being impersonated |

Lord_Reed: Can anyone venture to opine on whether swiping is faster than just typing? If you use a lot of abbreviations, it won't be. Else, it's faster. For me though. In other news the Oppo N1 is set to be Cyanogenmod's "nexus". Great move by Steve and Koush |

hustla: For real? Was that the message you got? Well I won't be drawn into exchanging words. Consider this: You take a cheaper item "A" to a gathering of people with more expensive items "B, C & D", NO ONE CARES HOW MUCH YOU GOT IT. But when you start screaming how yours is cheaper and better, that spells insecurities. Still NO ONE CARES. Hope you catch the drift. 2 Likes |

Leopantro: Has anyone noticed this before? Install google chrome or Firefox Mobile on your phone. Use it for a few minutes. Don't download, bookmark or save any page. Now recall when downloading it the file size was 25MB. Go to settings, manage app and check on the file size again. I always clear data for Firefox because I never use it (it's for anyone who wants to access the Internet with my phone) chrome is off limits to anyone else My chrome app is currently occupying 430MB |
