Google did a stupid thing by letting Samsung make the Galaxy Nexus. Samsung takes more than 90% of the total profits in the Android space. LG, Sony et al have been losing. As Samsung's star shines brighter, HTC's and LG's stars keep dimming.

all4naija: I was not asleep, I was wild awake. Claim and sue are two different things. It is obvious Apple and its supporters can not different between both for the simple reason of gross yet unreasonable contentment. The company went ahead with the patent infringement rights,which is unequivocally undeniable that Samsung must have had something to do with what looks like Apple's yet demanded for over a billion dollars for the garbage it has been feeding the public with. On one hand Apple is not a saint in this regard. On the other, it is quick to point accusing fingers when some of the features belonging to other companies, which probably has not been sorted out in one way or the other, is being used on their products every now and then.

I quite understand the so called iPhone avid supporters who would go extreme length to make their biased arguments heard.It is very clear at this moment that Apple followers all rather supporters are moved by sentiments as wouldn't have been required of anybody in smartphones tech debates. This is very clear in the light of their recent release of iPhone 5 - yet with lot of areas where it is still inferior to Samsung Galaxy S III the price remains well above and they are willing to put their money on it. It is unimaginably senseless to reasonable people.

My frustration with it is quite understandable, it is almost in all ramifications, as a company that never really care about some segment of the population when coming up with the hardware, features, apps and others. I was once a fan to the core of Apple products, most especially, with the release of iPhone in the past only to be beholding to them for every little thing that doesn't warrant such(to be precise it is stressful). So, I still think Apple products are over-rated and the society is just moved by the fact that it is Americans' and the hype that goes with such idea.

I dare anyone who really like iPhone to prove to me how the product can absolutely be free of copying or mimicking other company's works out there. It is a share move by Apple supporters and company to ruin others based on their jealousy. This will come to the limelight as the fading away of the product definitely come to an end - as the cliché goes 'anything that has beginning must has an end'. The end of this over-hyped iPhone is coming to a close as they continue to fight for patent infringement rights and bribing the lawyers and judges with fat pockets.

FRAND went out the window the moment Nokia sued Apple in 2009. Everything since has been a valid depiction of what the world would looked like if Google and Apple were the US and Russia during the Cold War and patents were nukes.

LTE is a complex standard covering many aspects of wireless communication (modulation, multiplexing, error correction codes, routing, codecs, etc.), each of which are built on many technological innovations. This is one of the failings of the current patent system, since in order to innovate in an area you need to implement many of the already existing technologies, the patents for which are owned by the companies which already dominate the space. In the case of LTE, over 50 companies claim to have patents required to implement it.

Samsung has 819 LTE patents which consist of about 13% of all LTE patents. They hold the most. I believe HTC has around 600 or something. Apple is currently #10 in LTE patents.
