Why should Ghana base their national development on Nigeria? That is the height of idiocy! |
Because recognizing him would mean giving credit to President GEJ for appointing competent men, which is an abomination to THE APC |
Why dem no recognize my town Okitipupa? Yeye microsoft! |
Islam is finally taking a foothold in Igboland. i don't know if this is a bad or good thing. If they continue to live in peace, it is a welcome development. But if they imitate Boko Haram ideology, then they should be fiercely resisted. |
BanditC:Bros na so we see am o! I remember back in the days coming from coal camp to buy Dens cook near UNTH. Even the buses then had a very hard time on that road. Sullivan is a miracle worker ![]() |
Schematics:Thank you Schematics for the great pictures! For some reasons, the Onitsha and Nnewi malls are dear to my heart because i know their multiplier effect in bringing tourists and investors to these cities. These Onitsha business men have partners abroad who are eager to visit Nigeria and invest. Many of them end their visit in Lagos because there are no world class hotels or places where they could shop and relax in Onitsha. Since the issue of security have been tackled by Willie Obiano's government, the opening up of world class relaxation centers and malls will be very useful in projecting these cities as open for business to the world. In addition to shopping, people go to malls for relaxation and fun. One hopes this mall has a food Court for restaurants and at least one Cinema built in as in the Polo park mall where movie goers can watch the latest Hollywood and Nollywood movies on big screen. Perhaps someone will find some space around the Mall to erect a Ferris wheel and a small children amusement area for families to relax. I am ecstatic that the mall has finally reached roofing stage. I hope they maintain the current speed and do an outstanding quality job. |
abagoro:Onye mara ihe ga ese okwu, ya emekwana ya! If you are truly Igbo, you should have dropped the foul habit of always trying to provoke e-war amongst our people. How many times have you seen a Yoruba posting that Akure is better than Osun in an Osun thread? Even if it were true. |
abagoro:If you as a non Igbo know new Owerri, why would i not? I don't need to post any pictures or satellite imagery of Owerri here to buttress my point. Just contribute positively in Enugu thread without stoking controversial issues to start an e-war. I thank all of you that i see viewing this with restraint and have not jumped on one side to derail the thread. I will also stop posting all these useless responses. |
Abagworo:You can change monikers and respond to yourself, that is your own headache. This post and all the pictures accompanying the post conveyed your clear insinuations that Owerri was better than Enugu because it had better soil and her inhabitants were more enlightened not to see aesthetics as a waste of money unlike most inhabitants of Enugu except Independence layout or maybe Trans-Ekulu. |
abagoro:We have already been through that mess too many times and we know where such insidiously silly posts usually land us. Even my responding to you has a potential of drawing fire from people like B2Mario, Ikengawo, Faun etc. The same way we have asked Chino to respect himself and post relevant pictures in relevant state threads, you should not come here insinuating that Owerri is better than Enugu, even if it were true. I love Owerri very much, but i also know your antics very well. It is all about probing for someone to dispute your assertion and all hell will break loose here again. That is why such innocently appearing but poisonous post should be denounced at once where they are spotted. |
Abagworo:My point is that you should stop your inferiority complex. Enugu and Owerri are great Igbo cities, unique in their own ways and we know which is better in each respect. You have been denounced as an Ikwerre boy by the great Imo people. Why aren't you talking about PH instead of Owerri? You derive sadistic joy when Igbos are deceived by your antics and begin to pummel each other. The attempt to compare Igbo cities have usually resulted in disastrous flared emotions and e-wars to derail the thread. You have been part and parcel of that unfortunate event in the past and should not repeat the same useless tricks here again to derail this thread. |
Abagworo:Abagworo, You have started again spamming this thread with pictures from Owerri and insinuating it is a better place than Enugu. When Chino and other people start bad mouthing Oweeri, you will pretend as if you didn't know what you did. We have already seen those pictures in Imo thread, no need spamming Enugu thread with them just to cause trouble and start e-war with someone here. By the way, there is NOTHING like "red soil". The quantity of Zinc oxide in the soil determines its color from dirty brown to orange color. I was in a city called Savannah Georgia in the USA and you need to see the soil is "redder" sic than Enugu. Yet, they planted their grass & flowers making the city very beautiful. What you don't get because you always stay in Nigeria is that you are not supposed to see raw soil anywhere. It should always be covered by grass whether it is white sand, red or purple soil, it should be covered by a layer of green carpet grass. Everyone knows the picture was from Lagos, taken by the "ministry of the environment". It is written right in the picture itself. The "Obodo Oyibo" expression is a figure of speech. Enugu is different from Owerri in many many many respects that I wouldn't waste time indulging in here. Suffice to say that such a Median can be made out of Chime avenue if it can work anywhere in Lagos of all places. It only takes a govt. willing to beautify the place. They fenced off the garden portion with railings and left gaps where people could cross the street. The picture you posted about new owerri median is not better than the present look of Chime avenue median now, neither is it better than how Upper Iweka flyover now look. Enugu is a city filled with educated individuals and prestigious educational institutions much beyond any other place in SE Nigeria. |
All these idle threats that Buhari continues to issue. If you like stay only in Katsina and Yobe to campaign thinking only them can make you win. If GMB repeats the same mistakes of the last time, you will still lose. You can as usual go and sponsor Boko Haram to kill innocent Christians and southerners for a while and they will be ultimately routed out by the military.History will merely repeat itself because GMB failed to learn from it. Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different result. |
WOW! 21 SENSIBLE PAGES! God bless umu omambala for their wisdom finally! OreMI22: |
OreMI22:Come to think of it, it may not cost up to N200,000 naira to pay horticulturists to plant aesthetic flowers and trees along the median of Chime avenue to reproduce the likeness in the picture. If our amiable governor is listening as some of you have alluded, please make Chime avenue median look like the median in the picture! This will truly be a spectacular feat for Enugu to have a major road like Chime avenue resemble an "oyibo" man's road. Gov. Chime please give this to us as your parting gift to crown your legendary transformation of the coal city.

investnow2013:Isn't park road the location of the Onitsha Mall and resort hotel? Or they are building another hotel along that road? |
BuddahMonk:Where is the new hotel located in Onitsha? |
APC e-warriors always live on the internet and vote 20,000 times just to skew the results. So APC will always win in Nairaland and other obscure internet fora. But the people that will actually cast the vote in the grassroot are neglected for the PDP to mobilize. Anyway, INEC should do his utmost to ensure the peoples votes are counted and no room is allowed for rigging. Then we shall know who the people want and not who the e-warriors want. |
@ Chima, very important point! .........Don't forget Landscaping!!! One hopes that they won't spend all this money building the structures and will not do proper landscaping. It will be a major mistake if they fail to do landscaping around these hotels and malls as well as the roads leading to them. Nigerians generally only consider flowers to be part of the beauty of a rich man's compound.Which makes us typically not worry about looking at red soil instead flower gardens in the middle of well grassed open spaces. I once told a friend that Obudu Cattle ranch was such serene, charming and alluring place in spite of being mere bungalow chalets because the greenery of the breath taking landscaping of the environment. |
kasiem:Bros, The same people who have ruined Nigeria while the were in the PDP have now run to APC because they have lost influence in PDP. From Obasanjo to Atiku,Hell rufai, Kwankwaso and their ilk. Today, they suddenly want us to believe the problem with Nigeria is political party not these corrupt politicians running around and jostling for power though any party in order to loot Nigeria. Tomorrow,I will hear Amaechi paying lip service to anti-corruption when he has already looted his state to the extent that Rivers is broke today. Buhari is the only one amongst the crooks in APC who can be said to have led a corruption free regime with Idiagbon.Buhari is perhaps the only one in APC that means it when he says he will tackle corruption in Nigeria if elected. But Buhari's problem is the fiery support for use of violence and insurgency as a political tactic. |
BuddahMonk:Hiaa, una don come again. Which one be Obiakpor? ![]() |
adeitoro:Buahahahah... lol... ![]() The funny thing with this so called Joe igbokwe APC write up is that it born in the usual yoruba delusion that only them can "advise" Igbo on what is good for them. When Yoruba had decided to become slaves to the north,it is a "shophisticated decision", but when Igbo lend their support to a fellow marginalized southern minority group to feel a sense of belonging in governing Nigeria, it is a silly decision in their evil minds. Wicked people. |
EroZA:Some peculiarities in Nigeria's setup has made it impossible for Nigerian government or private citizens to run big companies without the allegation of nepotism and regional favoritism.Which is sometimes substantiated by usually frivolous. Even Dangote cement and other products gets that allegation amongst Nigerians but they're widely accepted overseas. That is why South African companies are popular amongst Nigerians because they invest purely based on what makes business sense and hire the locals in whatever state they operate. Having said that, it is foolhardy of you to think that because SA companies are popular, there are no Nigerian alternatives. MTN,DSTV,Skye bank etc all have Nigerian equivalents. We do want the South African companies here in order to foster competition which leads to better services. However, if SA becomes an obviously hostile country towards Nigeria, Nigerians will agitate for our government to make their lives complicated here. Just as SA had always made sure Nigerian companies couldn't operate within their shores. |
EroZA: ![]() No doubt about that when it needs someone to do the dirty jobs such as, Nigerians to volunteer for Ebola work in Liberia, or need African votes for the bombing of Ghadaffi or to contribute troops against Al-Shabab in Somalia. ![]() |
xtayle:Save your breath, your request is like asking the NAZI party to field a black man as their Furher. ![]() Who do you think the party was set up to oppress? |
kel4soft:Just tell Amaechi that he will not go scot free after looting Rivers state. We shall see to it that corrupt criminals have their day in court. |
kel4soft:Shameless bunch of excuses again! Without talking about Lagos or Akwa Ibom which are the only states with Rivers that have an annual budget of more than N450 billion naira. Why have even poorer states as Delta,Kano, Ogun,Ondo or Kaduna achieved much more than Amaechi in spite of have double or triple more funds? You Amaechi thugs will not save him from answering for his mindless looting on the day of reckoning. I shall bring up this thread again to remind you that Amaechi must go to jail for his robbery of Rivers people and looting of the state treasury. |
OdenigboAroli:Wow! I love this statement! Now you see why i say in some threads, the best way to handle an eediot is to ignore them no matter what they say? It takes two hands to make a handshake. He can only derail your thread when you feed into his crap thinking that you are a tough guy. Chino, I hope you see the wisdom in Odenigbo's advise and heed it. |
kel4soft:[/s] CRAP! Stop lying to us as if we can't find this information for ourselves. Rivers state 2013 budget was 485 billion with a N5.9 billion naira appropriation. Making it N490.5 Billion. So the man you quoted was correct! http://ireports-ng.com/2014/01/08/apc-pdp-in-war-of-words-over-n485-billion-rivers-budget/ http://www.ictprocurement.com/news/security/budget-2013-round-up-by-states.html Rivers state 2014 budget is N485.5 Billion: http://www.punchng.com/news/rivers-lawmakers-pass-2014-budget-in-govt-house/ It makes sense to compare Rivers state with Lagos state because their budget is about the same. Most of the money in Lagos budget is IGR while the money in Rivers budget is from 13% derivation. Irrespespective of how both states derive their money, they will spend about the same amount. Therefore we must compare what Fashola was able to achieve with N480 Billion naira ($ 3billion dollars) to what Amaechi was able to accomplish with N485 Billion naira (Above $3 Billion dollars) If you like, continue to delude yourself that Amaechi will be let go by playing this as APC vs. PDP matter. Is Amaechi the only APC governor? Go and see what Sule Lamido,Kwankwaso and Fashola are doing in their state. Are they not APC governors? Amaechi must answer for the mindless corruption and robbery of our people. I don't even want to mention the wonders Akpabio have done for Akwa Ibom because you will claim he did it because he had N2 billion naira extra above Amaechi's budget. So See for yourself what Fashola has accomplished for Lagos people with about the same amount of money Amaechi plays with! https://www.nairaland.com/1894158/lagos-state-pride-south-west |
tabletman1:Onitsha side streets must be repaired and it cannot be done by awarding contracts to construction companies but through Direct labour working through the state's ministry of works. Anambra actually acquired a lot of road construction equipment during the Peter Obi's regime.Direct labour system should be used to dig gutters in the streets where they are needed, grade the streets and apply tar over the graded streets. To achieve this system of fully using direct labour, What is needed is a strong leader who knows how to engage the LGAs and mobilize people for the greater good. Dr. Sam Egwu of Ebonyi state was able to use direct labour agencies to effective repair and tar all Abakaliki side streets. I am sure a dedicated Anambra leader who is able to choose an equally dedicated man to man the direct labor agency can produce the same or even better result in Anambra state. |
BlackTechnology:...and use whose money to sustain it? Northern states are truly the most infrastructurally developed part of Nigeria. Years of military misrule and favoritism towards the north saw to that infrastructure imbalance in the country. The idea is all about cheating the Niger Delta of their resources and using it to develop the north. ![]() |
