exactly !!! Because they know their bloody rampage was not targeted at stopping Rochas. |
okiezman:That is why you blood sucking Jan-jaweeds have been spilling innocent children's blood abi? God will judge you Jan-jaweeds for this bloody game you are playing with the lives of Nigerians. Your bloody politics will not intimidate anyone from voting GEJ. He has gradually been transforming Nigeria from the destruction caused by most Janja-weed politicians when they were in power. I don't know how hard that is for you to understand that Nigerians are not intimidated by your bloody politics. |
spyder880:As a Deltan, i was seriously concerned that the Effurun roundabout be made a spectacular beautiful sight, thank God Uduaghan listened and beautified it with flowers and a big water fountain. The same zeal that i have for the Naira triangle in Enugu because i know its potential to create a powerful ambiance of Enugu. I hope Chime will beautify that triangle or roundabout of sort, to make an indelible impression on anyone coming into Enugu before he leaves the Lion Building in May,2015. Ofcourse also putting a water fountain in the middle of it like the Effurun roundabout in pictures 1&2. The King's square Benin is another such big roundabout and even has a museum of Benin history built in it as part of tourists attraction. Last picture is King's square Benin. One hopes that the Naira triangle should be fitted with water fountains and the whole area fenced off with railings and used to beautify the city.

Does it mean they want us to now fight Boko haram? Why not just offer them amnesty so that they can kill more people and get even bigger amnesty? |
Myluv1:Although planting cash crops may appear as a good strategy, poultry and pig farming is the surest way to get it right in a state like Anambra where getting massive acres of land for agriculture may be wishful thinking if you ain't a billionaire. You can even industrialize by bagging your chicken and selling to supermarkets as frozen chicken. There is money in agriculture when one wants to do it in a modern way employing the best global practices. Unfortunately, the average Nigerian wants to approach agriculture the primitive way it was done ages ago, which makes it too labor intensive and unprofitable in the long run. |
zeembab:Naija people know how water enter inside coconut, but we like to beat about the bush all the time. ![]() |
ujoinme:If Seaports cost $2- $6 billion dollars to build, how did poor countries like Jamaica, Haiti, Mozambique, Madagascar, Eritrea, Djibouti, Benin Republic, Sierra Leone etc find such mind boggling funds to build seaports ? ![]() I seriously doubt the quote of $2 -6 billion dollars for Ibaka deep sea port. Even deep sea ports the size of a medium Nigerian city cost about that much in USA, where we know cost of labor is astronomical. Yet, Ibaka seaport isn't supposed to be that huge to be bigger than 3 square miles area of some of these gigantic seaports that cost billions of dollars to build. It is like comparing the cost of Heathrow or JFK international airport and saying because it cost $200 billion dollars to build New York JFK airport, we shouldn't build an international airports in Nigeria or Uyo because we cannot find such funds to build a JFK like international airport in Nigeria. Yet, we don't need international airports that gigantic like JFK or Heathrow in Uyo or Enugu. For example, Gwadar deep seaport in Pakistan pictured below cost only $250 million dollars! ...and also built by China! If we can get something like this for phase one at Ibaka seaport, we can start there for now.Don't be surprised that what they are quoting for $6 billion dollars may not even be as big as Gwadar deep seaport! So $300-500 million dollars for the initial phase of Ibaka seaport should be considered for now. The port can be expanded and improved with time. Read about the world deep seaports and cost of their construction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_seaports

I still wonder what type of bloody beasts ruling human beings in the north. ...and they want to bring the same brutality into ruling the entire country by force, even if Nigerians don't want them. They just waste lives like human life is worth the life of a mere grasshopper. |
You beat me to it! I was just posting this story of more investments attracted by Obiano when your post came in! lol.. ![]() |
tabletman1:Oga mi, You even have more right to criticize Anambra than most people in NL. I am Deltan by birth, but i lived in Omagba,Fegge and Woliwo at different times with my parents before we moved to Enugu. I am considered Anambrarian by even my friends when i lived in Enugu, so i am an honorary Anambrarian ![]() So i seek the development of this state that I know has the potential to soar so high, but have been bedeviled by poor visionary leaders, apathetic followers who believe that so long as they can get into main market everyday, the whole state can go to hell, and finally a bunch of crooks that believe if the state works decently, they will be put out of business. Albert Einstein, a great human thinker and scientist said ideas are the most important contribution one can make to society. So do not unfollow the thread or feel like rocking the boat because some posted an annoying response or to be discouraged if others attack your ideas, someone may see it and try it out. Afterall, the only reason you are in this thread and not Ekiti or Borno thread is because you are genuinely interested in the development of Anambra. Just ignore silly posts and move on. You don't need to win any argument because, if you argue with a fool, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. ![]()

No need for judgment, Amaechi na Tiff! |
OreMI22:@ the bolded. I hope they realize what is at stake here. APC would love this hitch! |
InyinyaAgbaOku:Don't mind the common yoruba clearing agent now posing as a marine engineer. As if he has a clue what he is saying. Talk about a chemist dishing out medical diagnosis as if they are doctors an initiating a quack treatment. These things only happen in Nigeria.I feel the pains of those who ask about Ibaka seaport. That project has had panic bells ringing across Nigeria and there is a concerted effort to frustrate it. But for how long? Just as they have continued to frustrate other Eastern ports by denying certain types of imports commonly used in the eastern markets. All these things boil down to seeking sound political power in the center. That is why we must make sure those who have sworn the destruction of Igbo people in Nigeria, must never rule us again. |

Why did Nigeria waste so much money building a useless capital- Abuja, when we already had a functional Federal Capital in Lagos? Hi Haters! ![]() bad belle dey run stomach ooo ! Akpabio will rather use the money to develop Akwa Ibom state than use it to sponsor Boko haram to kill fellow Nigerians like some Jan-jaweed governors do ..... or like Amaechi simply transfer the money into a private Swiss bank account and say the state is broke! ![]()

Energito:This is just a shame. Their cement to sand ratio is probably below the standard recommended. I hope the flyovers won't collapse in a similar fashion out of shoddy practices to cut corners.Of course after they have collected a whopping N5 billion naira of Anambra peoples' money for the shoddy job. One of the biggest things that made Chime's projects stand out proudly is that he uses competent foreign contractors. Anambra projects often cost more, yet the quality work of the Arab contractors cannot be compared to what the local contractors sucking Anambra treasury dry only to deliver less than perfect standard at the end of the day. I have said it and will continue to say it, Godswill Akpabio said one truth that i have come to recognize. "Unless those in position of power are angry about the poor state of affairs and their anger push them with the determination to change things, they will not change anything. Even when they have all the money in the world." Comparing Chime's achievements with his very tiny budget but using a reputable foreign contractor to what has been achieved in Anambra and the quality therein, you will simply scratch your head and say... okay, that's the quality our people want. What else can one say? |
tabletman1:Thanks for the pics. bro. Empty senseless attacks should not discourage you at all from speaking out.Let them hang if they don't like your points. Many times, i even disagree with you, but i still respect your opinion if it isn't blindly born out of empty partisan associations.Neither PDP nor APC has the remotest intention to develop Igboland or Anambra in particular. So i feel sorry for those blindly defending them. Even though PDP is a more national party than the islamic APC I generally like Peter Obi and have been severally labelled an Obi's agent in NL. I will say unequivocally again that Mr. Peter Obi was the BEST Anambra had ever had, but, there are obvious lapse that Obi had. So, I praise Obi where he got it right and criticize where he didn't live up to standard of other governors in Nigeria. Each time, i get criticized by people perpetually viewing themselves as his foes or friends. It doesn't bother me what they say because I know they have empty reasons behind their rants. My primary concern is that Anambra may be great again. |
Allohrandy:Keep lying to yourself if that makes you feel better, but you can't fool anyone. Mobil is in Eket. When has Eket and Uyo become the same places? Just in case it helps you, I am an alumni of University of Uyo. So i know exactly what Uyo looked like before Akpabio came to power. |
You should also compare Akpabio to the FCT Minister too! In any case, Akpabio is better than the duo because Akpabio developed his state ALONE from the village level to what it is now. The other two had Lagos and Abuja developed by the Federal Government using the entire country's resources and the best thinkers to make Lagos and Abuja what they are today. Although Akwa Ibom is amongst the states with big Federal allocation, One also cannot attribute Akpabio's performance to funds alone. Afterall, Amaechi has just as much money at his disposal and what has he achieved for Rivers people with all that money? Kwankwaso has massive amounts of money at his disposal too. Courtesy of the claim that Kano is the most populated state in Nigeria. Has he showed such sterling performance as Akpabio apart from using the money to sponsor terrorists in order to make the FG look incompetent? Nigeria as a whole has had so much money at its disposal and what have we achieved with the colossal money apart from Abuja and Lagos? All you hear are stories of theft! $12.5 billion gulf war windfall stolen under Babangida, $16 billion dollars stolen under Obasanjo through NIPP, $5 Billion dollars recovered from Abacha's Swiss accounts. Akpabio could very well transfer all Akwa Ibom money to Swiss accounts and if EFCC says anything, he will decamp to APC and claim he is being politically witch hunted. So, we should celebrate Akpabio as a man of vision who Akwa Ibom is lucky to have compared to the clueless ediots and rogues occupying government houses across Nigeria.Men like Akpabio are the type of men Nigeria desperately need.

SirHouloo:It must be what is going on secretly! |
biafrandream:Gbam!!! We need some type of non-profit organization to encourage the government to keep the city clean by sweeping streets, clearing refuse dumps and planting flowers. The idea of helping government to keep the city clean and beautiful will surely sound awful to the average Nigerian. The average Nigerian mentality have been primed as a "Fee for Service" mentality. We don't like to do any public good unless we are getting paid for it. That is why if you praise Chime for his great works, some people already assume he must be paying you some phantom millions of naira to speak the naked truth! However, helping to keep our immediate neighborhood clean and planting flowers along the streets leading to our houses will be a good place to start. |
@ Bad Belle op, Some People are not Nigerians, that is why they oppose any good thing in Nigeria or try to bomb it. They are only happy when it is in their own state, perhaps their bush LGA. Such pettiness! Well, True Nigerians congratulate and are HAPPY WITH AKWA IBOM PEOPLE for achieving such an excellent stadium. Even if it was Fashola that built this, we should be happy for Lagosians because it is all happening in our country! Just as I would congratulate Lagosians when the light rail project is launched soon. Just in case you didn't see it yet, Now see the pictures of the new stadium so that your sadness will increase, then go back to your cave and cry all day! ![]()

Are you sure it is not Boko Haram terrorists in our army uniform doing this? |
IGBOSON1:Nwanne, Even if i mentioned the trees, please do so again and again and again. We can't say it enough until our people get the reason why we are so adamant about using grass, flowers and trees as part and parcel of construction in our cities to help them reach at least the minimum world class standard. We are gradually winning the campaign on including gutters as a standard practice to road construction in the SE since its soil is so prone to erosion in the absence of concrete gutters. I don't need to be told that you have been to America, Germany etc and seen exactly how the proper use of trees and grass can convert the whole environment into a very beautiful and conducive city.Development isn't just about creating a concrete jungle with cement alone. Left to me, I want all our roads and open spaces to be line with this type of palm tree in the picture. The first picture is Florida keys which has exactly the same climate as SE Nigeria, which Akwa Ibom is obviously copying their beautification model with palm trees lined roads. You can see that Akwa Ibom is judiciously doing a good job replicating the palm trees lined roads of Florida keys in Uyo, which is evident in the later pictures of Uyo posted here. They understand that it helps make a city stand out as a tropical paradise for tourists. Enugu and Uyo will get there if they continue to upgrade the environment and urban infrastructure.

spyder880:Thanks Oga Spyder for treating us to another delightful Saturday with you awesome pictures. The Naira triangle is one spot that will finally define the new status of Enugu as you fly in from the airport. I hope the naira triangle is converted into a great awesome roundabout of sorts, with lots of flowers & palm trees, water fountain and solid sculpture about Enugu state! Thanks again Spyder for the wonderful pics. |
spyder880:I have said it that Nigeria does not need the LGA structure or at least they should be firmly under their host state governments to manage since they must be funded by the federal government from the federation account instead of generating their own funding in a true federal system. Northern Nigeria simply perpetuates the LGA structure because it provides yet another level of cheating where they can corner a lion share of the federation account via the hundreds of LGAs they created in the bush where nobody lives.Simply to steal money from the federation account. However,I hope someone will patch up those potholes soon.Speak of a stitch in time. If the potholes persist longer, they will grow so much and cost much more because it would require reconstructing the entire road. |
biafrandream:If PDP will not give Sullivan the Senate ticket to continue his marvelous work, then he should decamp to another party, perhaps APGA. He will still win. As long as he does not make the mistake of joining the Jan-jaweed party: Almajiri Peoples Congress (APC) |
biafrandream:Bros, Does she represent the centenary city? |
spyder880:Absolutely right! Anyone that missed this opportunity at this early stage cannot afford even a kitchen here very soon. When all Abuja politicians and other money bags will buy up the entire estate as their homes or rental property. I tell you that it will get to a stage that initial down payment here will be N200-300 million naira. And it won't be very long. I said exactly the same thing in the mid 1990s when a friend offered to help us acquire a strategic plot of land in Eti-Osa LGA around Lagos- Epe expressway for about N300,000 naira. My brother bluntly refused that we should invest and questioned when development will ever reach there. Today, the whole area is referred to as Lekki pennisula and some of those that bought land in our yard have since sold the land at fantastic profit and used the money to build mansions in Lagos! Today, only politicians or well connected business men can even dream about buying well positioned land in Lekki.I won't let the same mistake happen again in my life time. |
