Akwa Ibom should collect 100 times what Kano collects. The only reason Kano steals a huge part of Akwa Ibom wealth is called "Nigeria"

if the wealth belonged to Kano, they won't share it with anyone, even if it is Plateau. ...and especially NOT with Akwa Ibom or any southern state.

ChimaAdeoye: Chino nwannem, gee nti kam gwa gi ife.

If you look around, many of our great men still live outside Anambra, including the great Ikemba. WHY?

We have not risen to the height we had hoped to rise after the 1991 creation of our state. Even Abakaliki today has surpassed our state capital Awka in development.

Look around Enugu, what do you see? Many well laid out world-class layouts such as Centenary golf, city, Goshen, Victorcza, Trans Ekulu phase II, Abakpa Phase II, many are even around Emene and Gariki areas. Now, you cannot tell me that only people in Enugu can build houses! The difference is that the State government knows that it has to put in graded roads in the proper places designated for roads in these areas, extend electricity there to enable the citizens build.
In comparison to our state, we pretend State government has no role in helping the private sector mark out a well planned residential areas with proper roads, drainage channels and thus we allow half baked people to build the state for us. The result is they will keep reproducing Awada and Okpoko all over the place, which may have great buildings, but so poorly planned that it appears like a concrete jungle because we have not given them the benefit of our intellect to help them put in proper roads, drainage channels, playgrounds for schools, hospitals etc in order to build great eye popping layout.

Now in our state, apart from Udoka and Ngozika started by Ezeife, even our green wood estate is having hiccups. At Onitsha, the GRA phase II in Akpaka forest reserve have been blocked by people who want the land sold for thrillions of naira. In spite of that, the state government can dualize that Nsugbe road and ask the FG for reimbursement. The dualization of that road will enable GRA Onitsha to reach beyond FGGC Onitsha and use all that empty land at Nkwelle ezunaka. But who is thinking of developing the state like that? NOBODY!

There are bridges which can be built in several parts of Omaba layout to access land on the other end of the Nkisi river, but nobody wants to do such a thing. So if you look at the satellite picture of Onitsha, it looks like a triangle. Boxed in by the river Niger at the base, the Nkisi river to the north and the Idemili river to the south. Everyone complains there is "No land" in Onitsha, yet all around the town reveal massive expanse of land which cannot be accessed because there are no bridges over the small streams surrounding them!
We can plan great layouts with Abuja type houses if we simply look at our own homeland cities, build bridges where they are required and do what we know we are very capable of doing. Instead of trying to jealous others that have a visionary governor developing their state maximally.
Very Well stated!

I used to inquire about what happened to Anam New City project?

The answer was that a key bridge which should link the city to Onitsha GRA or "3" area was abandoned! Such great first world project again abandoned in Anambra.

Compare that lackluster execution of the project to the zeal in which a similar city "The Enugu Golf and Lifestyle city" is being executed. You just see the clear difference in the determination to achieve a quality project. Tomorrow, Odenigbo Aroli and others will come here to cite funny examples how they built 15 ill planned 4 story buildings at ochanja which cost more than the golf city and accommodate more population. huh shocked kiss cool cool

Such blind blah blah blah senseless ... defense of people in government that failed to take hard decisions to make a massive impact on their state's development is the reason why i don't even bother to read some peoples' responses anymore.

OdenigboAroli: Guy,go and sit down somewhere and cool off....Jealous of what, exactly?
By the way, this isnt about Enugu but Chime the inept and clueless slowpoke who doesn't have an iota of idea about what governance entails. Stop making this out to be about Anambra vs Enugu because it makes you look insecure. Enugu has the potentials to challenge Anambra, economic wise but what has your d.umb and clueless governor done to harness these potentials. What is your d.umbass governor doing to tap into the coal deposit in Enugu ? Now,compare it with what Obi did with the oil deposit in Anambra. Did Obi wait on anybody? Guy,ana eji anya ama oka chalu acha....Enugu must wake up and elect a visionary leader....kpom!
These manner less and thoughtless children of Onitsha traders again! Can you save us the insolence and go back to your shop in Ochanja ? You have no sense of vision. Anambra should definitely be a leader in the SE but for thoughtless nincompoops like you and your fathers. For years the same people that frustrated the Oba International airport, suddenly know the usefulness of an airport. The same people that frustrated any type of development in Awka are now jealous of Enugu and want Awka to catch up overnight. The big disgrace about your conduct is that Anambra is a state of colossus. But thoughtless lizards as Chris Ubah were allowed to run the place because of your Ochanja market mentality of ' ego one ka oga Eli? Lack of focus on the big picture had caused Anambra a lot in the past.

I thank God for Peter Obi who retrieved the state from the grip of mad traders and merchants who simply saw that state as an extension of their main market business. The big challenge for Anambra people especially in Onitsha is to understand that people with vision are better than people with money but have absolutely no clue about how to deploy their wealth to help their community and state. In short, a sound educated and enlightened mind is better than an illiterate rich ediot. Chime's success in Enugu again reiterates this saying that a sound educated mind is better than an ediot with money. Look at his achievements inspite of ruling a relatively very poor state

Your challenge is to convert your rich human resources to count for rather than against you. The day you realize the burden of Anambra is how to manage the chaotic behavior and negative mentality of the 'rich' traders into a productive venture to develop the state, instead of constituting an impediment to its development, that is the day Anambra will truly become the Dubai of Africa.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by cjrane: 12:09pm On Sep 12, 2014
I wonder why some of my Anambra brothers are so primitively jealous? Let me state here that Anambra and Ebonyi remain the greatest beneficiaries of a successful Enugu. Most can even run their businesses noe based in Anambra with ease, via the airports in Enugu and Asaba.
It is almost as if success in other states is somehow anti Anambra.
Enugu is in good hands and there is nothing you can do about it.

Compared to the type of rogues that had been governor in Anambra, i believe Anambra was in good hands under Peter Obi and also with Willy Obiano. It takes time and vision to develop a state. So my Anambra brothers should take it easy. Anambra was about the worst governed SE state for a long time. We thank God it has been recovering from those nightmarish years under Peter Obi and Obiano.

Chinoelects, thank you for showing that you are not as myopic as the abo.kis Odenigbo and Bishop42 masquerading as Ndigbo. They are a disgrace to Anambra people.

OreMI22: ok,Thanks.
I hope they make that place a wonderful garden of nature to behold, or even a park where people can come and enjoy the serenity of flowers and trees right in the middle of the city.

God bless Chime for his great vision!
I believe the place should be a great garden of nature, BUT NOT OPEN FOR THE PUBLIC.
If it is done excellently, whatever monument and fountains put at the naira triangle will form the new picture of Enugu as a great place for relaxation and business. The garden should be surrounded by high railings so that the beauty can be appreciated, but people cannot go inside and vandalize the facilities. If people are allowed to go in there, they will dump tons of trash, pure water satchets and even human excreta that the entire place would eventually be reduced to a den of criminals to smoke indian hemp. I think the place should be turned into a great garden with Water fountain which will represent the new ambiance of Enugu. Especially coming from the airport.

Something like how Oshiomole turned kings square Benin from a den of robbers and mad people into a tourist spectacle and a signature monument garden with water fountains to represent the new Benin city.

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Air Force Begin Taking Delivery Of State-of-the-art Mi35m Helicopters by cjrane: 5:35pm On Sep 10, 2014
Missy89: Why is the DHQ still buying Mi35?

Kenya has Mi-28 and we are still using the old version
If Gabon likes let it have Apache! We are happy about our MI 35. I hope the pilots to fly them are dedicated and well trained so that they won't just waste their ordinance or worse still, fly the bird and land it where BH can capture it!
The issue here is not the model, it is about having the right tool to get the job done. If Nigeria needs to bomb people well camouflaged and defended at a mountain, you need aircrafts to get to them not tanks and AK 47s.

Apart from providing useful air support for our soldiers pinned down by BH, from the crazy use of jets that drop their bombs 3 km away from where they are needed because of poor tageting instruments on our Alpha jets. Acquiring these helicopters will enable NA to take the fight to BH at a place and time of its choice. Than to always wait for a typical ineffective fire brigade approach each time BH takes a town like Bama or Gwoza. BH should not dictate where and how NA should fight.

I no mind dem sha but that got me thinking,if armed men are running then there is a big problem somewhere. At some point we met dem jumping into pickup trucks of civilians and pulling off their uniforms. At a major hold up which kept us for close to 3hrs we saw military men with their full amoury, tanks and all escaping along with us to yola. My heart weeps for nigeria. PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by cjrane: 2:28pm On Sep 08, 2014
ChimaAdeoye: Thank you very much Sir!
I really did not want to respond because it is well known in this forum that I'm from Anambra and I didn't want to instigate another senseless e-war. Perhaps knowing that fact, he viewed my post from the prism of suspicion.
But as you said, my interest is that we should make all our project in the SE of the highest standard possible based on the available funds. Some governors simply build square boxes and a roof over it as public buildings! In America where i live, any public building is designed with great aesthetic appeal in mind, thus the entire country is dotted with beautiful well designed buildings, not just square boxes with doors and windows.

I have been singing praises of Chime because he obviously looks at the design of his projects and probably tells them to make it more aesthetic and unique, yet functional. Although Enugu and Ebonyi are the poorest SE states, Compare Chime's state secretariat buildings with others built in the SE and see what i mean.
You are welcome.
I think the big difference between Naija and American buildings is the use of qualified Architects to design American buildings, whereas in nigeria we use civil engineers. American Architects forever cite the great buildings they designed in their resume, so they always give every building design their best innovation. Here in naija, most of our local construction companies believe employing Architects as a waste of time. So the design of every project is done by the civil engineers in their workforce who are primarily concerned with "structural integrity". Once the engineers do their weight calculation and determine that enough pillars have been used to support the structure from collapsing, they simply cover up the outside of the building with concrete blocks and tiny windows here and there making the finished product to be very ugly but structurally sound. grin
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by cjrane:
Bishop42: Some igbos are just fond of comparing with mediocres. It this self hate, inferiority complex, greed or sadism. Mark my word no northern state is well built and organised than any South East states(Aside Ebonyi). Why you guys keep comparing us with north is beyond me.

It unsettles me when people who should know keep comparing us with such places rather than Abuja, Calabar, Akwa ibom,Lagos or Portharcourt. Please some places are not worth mentioning talk more of emulating. I was born in Maidugri and lived some of my life there.
I disagree that because one is your enemy you should not emulate best practices where it is possible. By your argument we should copy the second terminal because it was built by my state Delta and disregard thee obviously better designed terminal because it was designed for Jigawa? That is being childish.

The Americans and Russians went to the moon because they imbibed their enemy (Nazi) V-2 rocket technology and improved upon it. The Americans were able to produce an atom bomb and win WW2 because they allowed ( their enemies) German and Italian scientists to teach them how to break up an atom and harness the energy into a massive explosion.

My point being that we should copy great designs as Chima mentioned no matter how we feel about the person. Sometimes, great designs are simply a product of ingenuity & taste and not necessarily cost. For example, Saudi Arabia spent about the same amount of money in building Riyadh and Jeddah as UAE spent in building Abu Dhabi and Dubai. But it is without doubt that the King of UAE was more keen on aesthetics and exquisite design, which made the UAE an architectural masterpiece compared to Saudi. Therefore, if Jigawa or Kano is able to do something right, you should imbibe what they did right and not necessarily have to reject everything out of prejudice. The meat in Chima's post was all about preserving land around the airport for further expansion as it grows. I don't think Chima was inferring in anyway that Jigawa was better than any SE state. That inference was your own
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by cjrane:
HappyJoe: We have to establish:

1. Whether work on the airport terminal has been stopped.
2. Why it was stopped and who stopped it.
Bros, you completely missed my point.
I am not present in Enugu to ascertain if work stopped or not. I am in faraway Lagos. The summary of my statement is that based on the history we have witnessed with fellow compatriots in Nigeria, if Osita Chidoka does not take the completion of this terminal building very seriously and wastes his time on " security of airports", if ndi-ofe or abo.ki take over that ministry and the project is still uncompleted, then its completion will not be their priority.

Recall that Obasanjo was the first that said he would make Enugu International if Igbos can find 4 international airlines that will fly there. Which other international airport in Nigeria had to get 4 international airlines to sign an undertaken before it was built? Thus, in summary, they will find "good" reasons why the project should be abandoned if Chidoka fails to complete it during his tenure.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by cjrane:
HappyJoe: That airport terminal building is being built by the Chinese - it is independent of Stella's remodeling efforts. They promised to complete it next year.
lol at the bolded.

Since when did breaking a "promise" become a big deal to the vindictive namas we share this country with?
Although it is hard to hear and swallow, Biafrandream stated the hard facts. We just have to pray this Chidoka guy will take this seriously and knows the stake is high. The day he leaves that ministry, ndiofe and abo.kis will ensure the building will stop where he left it for another 10 or 15 years.

That was precisely the reason why they erased it from the list of international airport terminals to be built with the half a billion dollars Chinese loan indebted to Nigeria.
If Enugu terminal building had been in that loan, its funding and completion would have been guaranteed. But Tambuwal & co said capital NO! to including Enugu terminal in the loan. The reality of the situation is that we share the same country with a bunch of mean animals who plot day and night on how to cheat us and keep us down.
