Has Nigeria ever practiced federalism ? NO! We should drop the unitary system and practice true federalism and watch all the corruption and falsifications that bedevil Nigeria disappear. |
londoner: Please dont do that. We should not be attacking people here. You are right,we need to stick to the issue. But, I had to add that line after the Dude in question was making reference that i was panicking. Like WTF? Why should I be afraid of his opinion? I only asked him if he was changing his skyscrapers clusters advocacy position by posting Amaechi's projects as examples of what he meant. |
Ikengawo: that 'status' doesn't matterYes, status does matter. The only way to get around that is to decentralize the powers of the FG. For example, if Akwa Ibom builds an international airport, they only need to convince major airlines to fly the route and not FG. In the case of Nigeria, the FG micro-manages everything, so they will block international access to Uyo, even if it is a viable route. No matter what is built in Uyo, investors will still troop to Abuja and Lagos! |
londoner: The key is to create a situation where people are not really disadvataged to any unbearable length, by living on the outskirts, because there is more than one centre both within and outside the dominant centre. I agree that ALL cities town of the SE should be developed with this in mind. If we can think collectively, we can act in a manner that supports our population, commerce and industries in each state that make up the REGION.EXACTLY! One disastrous thing we learnt in Nigeria is the "Capital city" mentality, whereby the madness is to create a mega capital city, while the rest of the towns in the country is ugly and neglected. Such policies are the reasons why there had been so much problems in Nigeria. In the USA, there is a minimum city code whereby evey state must abide. Thus their cities are almost of the same basic standard. BTW, Washington DC is not the finest nor biggest city in the country. In Nigeria, wherever is named the capital gets all the preferential treatments to be the best. While the rest of the country is crappy. The One city state or country is the worst approach ever! |
Ikengawo: I DESPISE the single city idea for the SEYou are 100% correct! Those that are putting up all these "artist impression" NOT REAL actually built cities, are just talking without thinking. Abagworo summed it by saying it will not be feasible to lay out such contruction in Enugu if it were not a federal capital or hold some importance. So that means, he has realized the impracticability of the suggestion for Enugu. The other guy just loves to spam the thread and post more and more rendition for the sake of it. Without asking himself the critical question why an investor would sink billions of dollars in Lagos or Abuja but not in Enugu. Even an elementary 1 pupil knows the answer! They are federal capitals and commercial centers of Nigeria! Anyway,he self confessed to have been educated in the north. No wonder. Try reasoning with Shekau ![]() |
Abagworo: I think Rainbow Town is PPP and has gone way beyond the pic you see. As for Amaechi, he can give account of utilizing 80% of Rivers income quite unlike what we have in other major oil producing States. Bishop42: Then you have a new city called Centenary City being built in Airport Road, Abuja. The new city will gulp 16 billion dollar and will be 100% funded by private sector. What this means is that Government wont spend a kobo on this projectI am not saying you are wrong,I just want you to think clearly and say exactly what you mean. So you are saying that you believe Enugu State should copy what Rivers state or the FCT Abuja is building? Also, remember that none of these projects are clustered skyscrapers as you have advocated for Enugu. Have you departed from advocating that? |
Bishop42: This pix was taken 4 years ago,i bet they have gone far with the Rainbow Town project.Bros I bow for you o! How can you argue for skyscrappers, then post pictures of buildings not exceeding 10 floors? You could very well have showed us Onitsha as what you meant by a clustered skyscrapers city. You have showed us how Dubai was built from the scratch as a model to emulate, only to start citing Amaechi's rendtion? So in your mind Amaechi's rendition (Even if they were actually built) and the clustered skyscrapers city you have pursuaded us to follow are the same thing? So we can assume that Keke Napep and a luxury Mercedes Benz car are exactly the same things because they are known as vehicles? See what a clustered skyscrapper city you have advocated should look like, not Amaechi's high-rise. I honestly hope you know there is a difference between the two.

santos93: there is no doubt here that Gov T.A. Orji is taking this state to another level like in terms of development, infrastructure and so on. he is a messaih of our days liberating the state from previous political bondage and making every one in the state equal insted of following the path of the previous administration that uses spades and wheel barrow to empower the state to imagine how great he is inhumane to the people of the state. Indeed T.A. Orji is sent from God.Op, you truly expected us to read those long lies? I admit T.A Orji considers Umuahia the only city worth his attention . He did a few roads there. But Aba? He has totally rejected an REFUSED to do any road. His wicked neglect of Aba will guarantee him an eternal place in infamy as well as create serious problems for Umuahia zone in future elections. |
Good development. The plant would have been better sited in Lagos to avoid Boko Haram in the north. Anyhow, oyibo likes to take risk. |
abagoro: BY JOE EFFIONG, UYO ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 · COVERI knew it would be this abo.ki posting about Akwa Ibom. What about Kano under Kwanskwaso? In spite of stealing a lion share of the federation money, the man does not have any tangible projects to show for it. Even Jigawa has much more projects than Kano! |
londoner: It looks nice and all, but the dubai type skyscrapers do not make use of Enugu's natural landscape. I personally would not like to see clustered skyscrapers in Enugu. It would just make it a copy cat city of others around the world. The architecture and planning should revolve around its calm, green and orderly personality.I agree. In fact, it has been calculated that to build sustainable urban centers that avoid energy waste, high concentrated hydrocarbon combustion and other forms of energy wastes, a typical urban center should have no building higher than 12 floors. The land mass required for roads considering the number of floors versus the width of the roads showed very few urban centers in the world could afford the expanse of land required and the cost to build such extremely wide roads in order to avoid the projected energy waste when skyscrappers are clustered in areas serviced by normal width roads. Based on the modern requirement, Abuja, Nigeria's new federal capital territory passed a building regulatory code imbibing the modern recommendations limiting the maximum number of floors to be built in Abuja. I don't think Enugu needs to aim at building clustered skyscrappers. Even the abominable financial cost involved in expanding the present roads and building flyovers to reduce the choking traffic caused by this system of buildings will present a major financial challenge for the city. The Abuja style development of moderate high rise buildings is the way to go for the city. |

Abagworo: Rochas made that statement with respect to Peter Obi and he said some Anambra leaders and not all Anambra people. After all Ngige and a lot of Anambra people are working with Rochas. The truth is that Peter Obi was puting Jonathan's ambition ahead of Igbo ambition. Not only Peter Obi but a lot of politically naïve Igbos that don't realize the need to stand your ground and have a universal stake like Yorubas or Northerners that are everywhere as leaders in both PDP and APC. The thread "Few pics from Imo" was a thread to showcase Imo State and not a thread for mudslinging. Chino came there just like he did here to derail it and I endured but at the end gave him a dose of the heat.Bros, Forget Jonathan, even if PDP makes a Cameroonian their aspirant, Igbos will vote for him because the APC has given them no choice APC intentionally became hostile and sidelined Igbos in their silly belief they do not need Igbo to win. What they forgot was that as much as 2006 census was fake, Igbos reside in significant numbers outside the southeast. If APC had made the slightest effort to disregard men like Kwankwaso & El Rufai and gone ahead to court Igbo as advised by Ribadu, they will be at least sure of 25% in all the SE states. Those numbers could be decisive if they have a tight race elsewhere. APC has made it obvious that it is a party determined to deal ruthlessly with the Igbo people of Nigeria. Rochas said what he said in order to please them that he is anti-Igbo. Amaechi even announced openly that he is not Igbo to please them. (Not to say Amaechi was ever Igbo). But Amaechi forgets that those that voted him into office are 50% ethnic Igbo! What a fool! There is a reason why GEJ emphasize his middle name "Ebele" to gain the confidence of every Nigerian.Even OBJ knew that much. Anyhow, as much as i don't like Rochas, if you made him Presidential aspirant of APC, I WILL VOTE FOR HIM. |
spyder880: I love Anambra State and respect the wealth of knowledge and industrious disposition of the people. I have many friends, relatives and business partners, associates from Anambra. I will create some time to gather materials to open the thread for Anambra as time permits. We are one people with only one destiny.Spyder, I bu odogwu! I must see you one of these days when i enter coal city ! Thank you very much Sir! |
spyder880: More pictures of Enugu taken today.Nna, Biko just see the layout of coal city! Allah!, even Berlin does not have a better panoramic view! ![]() |
Abagworo: Chino is the one giving that false impression of me being against Anambra because I sometimes fire back when his attacks get much. All in all, if you're able to study the situations involved you'll realize that I'd rather open a fresh thread for our debate than derail a good thread. Another reason for the ill perception is because I don't support the lies of Igbo being from Nri which angered some people from that area peddling the falsehood over the years.Thank you for replying to my post. I'm glad I'm able to respond to you again after such a long time. You and Chino drove me away from the Owerri thread. It was really heart breaking to read what you guys hauled at each other day in day out. I suspect Rochas also read that thread because he once almost quoted your virulent type of language when he said "Anambra people were the worst trouble with Igboland". Many Imo people promptly and vigorously protested such blanket statement against a group of Ndigbo. Afterall, if Rochas is an Orlu man, what is the difference in Igbo dialect, culture or tradition between an Uli /Ihiala man to an Orlu man, except the pencil line where Murtala Muhammed decided to call a border between Anambra and Imo? I took care to notice you did not find anything wrong with that statement. So to save my further heartache, i unfollowed that thread and stopped contributing there. I also silently became anti-Rochas having understood he had no integrity. I realized that Rochas would kill, sell, betray or do any vice against Ndigbo if he felt that prospered his political chances at being Vee Pee for APC. I was shocked that you and Chino soon got tired at hauling mud at each other after so many people stopped viewing the thread. ![]() For me, I heard Igbos came from Lokoja! I don't know those old enough to have been taught that. The important thing is that we have been identified as Igbo and our geographic coordinates correspond to SE Nigeria. There are very mean people out there who hate us vehemently for no other reason than being born Igbo. I respect many fellow Nigerians because they too oppose the hatred and oppression of Igbo in Nigeria, but it does not change the fact on the ground.Just like the fact that many white people in USA oppose racism against black people does not mean the reality on the ground has changed. So, I applaud your decision not to play ethnic politics, i think it's ok. As for me, i have seen things in Nigeria that has made me lose faith in it. As racism is a reality nobody wants to talk about in USA is tribalism is a reality of life in Nigeria. Infact, Part of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Aguiyi Ironsi's mistakes were that they opted to play ostrich and overlook that reality. Tragically in Ironsi's case, behaved as though it didn't exist nor matter in choosing his personal security detail. So, Personally, i forbid myself or my descendants make such fatal error of omission again. i have accepted tribalism as a system that will outlive us all. As long as Nigeria ask people to list their state of origin on a piece of paper as a condition to be employed or receive service, so will tribalism continue whether we like it or not. |
spyder880: My brothers may punch me in the nose.Spyder, Dike anyi ji aga mba, anyi ji chukwu ario gi! You know all these people talking here are in faraway Maiduguri, Maputo or even Malaysia. They have no way of getting any recent Anambra pictures except it is on the internet or recently posted by a Nigerian newspaper. ![]() Do it and support it with pictures of good things happening there. Let those that don't like it hug transformer. Personally, I shall cite this post to prove how we all begged you to do it. As well as cite previous posts where so many noise makers said Capital NO to previous appeals to open a thread for that great SE state. Although we know why they said no was because they were actually posting from Bujumbura or Bangui and had no way of supporting the thread. Biko, ezigbo nwa afo Igbo, do it for the sake of Igbo prosperity. Afterall, ndi ara nile no ebea may even be ndi-ofe, the way people have ofe-sounding monikers these days. ![]() |
ALL THESE LIES AND CALUMNY AGAINST BUHARI BY CORRUPT IMMORAL MEN LIKE RABIT KWANKWASO AND CO. SHALL FAIL INSHA ALLAH! |
Abagworo: Thank you for understanding the core issue. I've never been against criticism but what I dislike is a thread meant to showcase the good of a State in Igboland being turned to a ground for political attacks. Anybody who wants a political debate or comparison should open a thread to that effect. Every State has good, bad and very bad side but this thread is meant to be for the good side.O'l boy you are not qualified to criticize Chino. You are MORE GUILTY of exactly the same sin of being a loose canon firing against friends and foes at the same time. You may be even worse because I have NEVER observed you give ndi ofe or abo.kis the same virulent attacks you have specialized against Ndi-Anambra and that state. At least Chino will defend Enugu if the virulent attack comes from Ab.oki or onye Ofe. Just like his posting this morning warning that "the termites were here, when onye-ofe was trying to diss Enugu mall using some pics. of Ibadan mall." At least Chino will never join them against any part of Igboland, but that cannot be said of you if the attack is specifically against something in Anambra. So save us your fake preaching. Chino truly misses the point and misfires sometimes attacking his own, out of a "forgivable" naively misplaced judgement of where his interests lie.He still cannot comprehend how a good thing in the SE outside the borders of his Anambra can be beneficial to his state. On the other hand, your interests are mostly decidedly against all Igbo states not controlled by APC. |
oneeast: The termites are here already. That is what happens when you are an imitation prophet to the Igbo cause which you have sworn to defend and protect, but because you have no principles to guide your action, you are like a loose canon that shoots both the enemy and your comrades at the same time. A deadly gun that kills more friends than foes is not a good weapon . Judge yourself in the defense of Ndigbo you have sworn to do. Are you a weapon of strength or weakness to us? A better Enugu is 100% in your interest. How difficult is that to see? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haRVYBD36uY |
OdenigboAroli: You haven't apologized to me.Apology? ![]() Ife osolugi mebe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAkWMNweEuo |
Just pray hard their sympathizers in the armed forces have not perfected a plan to fly the thing and go land it for BH in the sambisa forest. |
Donmarrius: Jega should tender his resignation letter without further delay!Nigerian officials are shameless! But shameless or not, Jega should save the country this coming crisis and resign now. |
. |
Uyo is truly about to displace PH, but i don't think it's happened yet. Uyo needs to build business parks so that corporate businesses can easily find land and office space to establish in Uyo. The next is to complete the Ibaka seaport, then nobody can ever dispute that list. |
jumobi1: Why does that box say "Chief of Army Staff"?for NA army weapons captured by BH and used againt the Nigerian Army. NA has recaptured their weapons and pickup vans from BH. If only our troops will learn to destroy vehicles and weapons they cannot carry when retreating. We have indirectly been arming BH and making their defeat more costly by running away before destroying our weapons dump. |
oneeast: One more silly word and I will wear you off the respect I have for you on this forum. Did you bother to read spyder's comment when he was posting TV images? You conveniently skipped that part and now you are yelling..Bros, you know me long enough to know I'm not here to be respected. I speak my mind the way i see it no matter whose OX is gored. Look at my comment history and find that there is no greater defender of Anambra State or Peter Obi's great strides than me. But i won't indulge in propaganda to please you or anyone for that matter.I even came squarely on your side when one "Mario" said unspeakable sacrilege about Anambra people a few months ago. Doesn't mean my opinion is always correct. But i NEVER SPEAK OUT OF HATRED OR ANGER. I am only concerned that you are sounding more like Musiwa ![]() Now lets face it seriously, let me give you a useful advise on how to argue with somebody with dignity so as to allow your audience to see you as a smart person. You cannot use the same Abagworo tactics when you are dealing with Spyder. In the case of Abagworo he thrives in negativity and plain white lies, so it is easier for you to ridicule him with verifiable facts and even more negative pictures of Owerri. Now, Spyder continues to challenge you to post pictures of equivalent "good" places in your state to shut him up or put his assertions to shame and you never pick up the gauntlet. Instead your typical response are empty threats to post bad images of Enugu WTF? ...and not the good images of your state which was his challenge! On the other hand, Spyder has NEVER threatened to post bad images of Awka or Onitsha to get back at you. Which we all know he has in his inventory. Your inability to effectively counter his positive challenges makes you appear like a clown and Spyder as the real man stating the facts. |
oneeast: Hahahahaha..the same dry enugu that I visited 2 weeks? The mall is recording serious low patronage. There is no money in the town..abeg park well!Wow! I just learnt something very wonderful right now! Human nature is actually the same! Emotions of jealousy, anger, envy are all human emotions and not tribe specific. I say this for those of you who ask for Biafra, The comment above were borrowed from yoruba warriors a few weeks ago Aigbofa and Ilugun boy. This tells you it is better to solve the problems with the other tribes in Nigeria instead of running into Biafra. The same problems will follow us there! In the nation of Biafra, Anambra and Anioma will assume the yorubas role in Nigeria, Enugu and Ebonyi will assume the northerners role while Imo and Abia will naturally assume the role of the south south people. ![]() Nigeria's problems are human issues, not really tribe unique. |
ckenneths: Selling televisions with price tags of above N2 million could only be done in a mega city, only in EnuguChai see TV! Ife n'eme ! |
ckenneths: Roban stores, better than most shopping malls in the east of Nigerian, except the baba..........Biko, Gwa Chime to make sure he completes the marking of all the major roads as well as planting trees & flowers along them.Looks like right now, only independence layout roads have benefited. It should be a common expected standard that any road now built in Enugu must be well marked and provided with gutters on both sides as the city marches into the future. |
ckenneths: No government can repair the whole state the same day. We are satisfied with Sullivan Chime and think he is doing enormously well. Anybody that fails to reply me with pictures should be bannedDefinitely. The most amazing thing about Chime is that he completely believes in QUALITY! I am so impressed at the quality of the job done by a credible company he consistently uses for critical jobs! Most SE states will use Ichie & Ichie construction company. So that they can go back and extract some kickback and the company ends up doing a very very shoddy job because they know they have already greased the palms of those who could have punished them. |
