Unless we privatize these highways to companies that will maintain them all year round for a toll, we are wasting our time thinking the Federal government has the resources to continue to build and maintain Nigeria's vast federal highways nationwide. Just as telephones started working again after we privatized that sector after many years pretending to be adding lines to Nitel. We must do exactly the same thing with federal highways. |
Schematics:I will say in Phyno's voice "onwebero ife i fulu" ![]() Bro, I won't call you names or an ediot because only nonentities want to call people names rather than to tackle the issues raised. You have done and continue to do evil against the great name of Anambra and her illustrious people by your regrettable and thoughtless activities and statements. Anyhow, I don't need you to validate that i do love Anambra with all my heart. But, i must state the facts even if you don't like it. So, let me respectfully say it again, although Peter Obi did excellently in intra state roads. However, Umuahia not to mention Owerri now have more DUALIZED roads than Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi COMBINED! Now i am not counting the federal road PH-Enugu road passing through Umuahia as dual carriages in Umuahia. I am counting the roads dualized inside Umuahia. Just like i am not counting the federal highway Enugu-Onitsha expressway passing through Onitsha and Awka as dual carriage ways in both cities. If you have been to Umuahia or Owerri lately, the equivalence of these major roads in Onitsha such as; Oguta road, Awka road, Limca road, Oraifite street, Ezeiweka street, Port Harcourt road, Ozomagala road, Modebe avenue,Zik avenue, Iweka road,Anazonwu street, New market road, old market road,Bida street, Atani road, MCC road etc in Onitsha have ALL been dualized . Now you can say all you want and call me Nkita as much as it tickles your fancy, i still do hate Rochas like you do. But, eziokwu is bitter. Rochas especially in Owerri have surprised me with many many many dualized roads beyond my hatred for him. Now, my man Obiano seems to be determined to build modern world class infrastructure in Anambra. I hope he succeeds. We need world class roads, well demarcated with street light and even traffic lights in the in our major cities of Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi. We deserve nothing less. |
odiyaka:They are trying to instill terror into people by being brutal. Like the Nazis, we should fight them until we get nothing but unconditional surrender from the brutes. |
Goddex:Only a dreamer will think that because of Amaechi gra-gra, he can win Rivers for Buhari. ![]() I don't want to mention IMO. Buhari cannot win in IMO even if his opponent is Abubakar Shekau or even a Cameroonian ![]() |
GEJ must stop those Boko Haram army commanders in Nigerian military protecting Boko Haram insurgents by stopping Chad from taking the battle to the murderous insurgents. Nigerians are fed up with all the saboteurs in our military complaining about one excuse or another why they will not fight Boko Haram. Stopping Chad which is able and willing to do the job is simply unacceptable. |
Nepotism ! He doesn't have to do anything for them to prefer him, as long as he is a northerner. |
Ethiopian is better than the loss generating South african airways. But i'm sure Nigeria will still choose the worst. It is in our blood to always make the worst choice. |
Schematics:Nnukwu Asi!!! The Onitsha Owerri road project included 2 flyovers (So called By-passes). One at Obosi by-pass and Another at Nkpor . The road and the flyovers were built by CCC. http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/90767/1/achievements-of-the-federal-ministry-of-works-july.html http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/revised_budget/28.%20Summary_Works1_NEW%202_Revision%202.pdf |
Schematics:Exactly! His performance in health, education, security, intra state roads and agriculture gives him great points. Nothing in roads dualization or urban renewal.(.....and don't talk about flowers in upper iweka being started by Obi ) |
Schematics:Bro, I have said that already. Obi is well documented to have linked every Anambra community with good two lane roads. FACT! In terms of roads dualization, Obi whom i respect very much for other achievements came a resounding last. FACT! |
Schematics:I don't want to diminish Obi's various illustrious achievements. But, when it comes to roads dualization, he can't even be compared to Martin Elechi or nor Theodore Orji who are believed to be purported failures. Umuahia alone has more dualized roads than Onitsha,Awka and Nnewi combined!!! You definitely cannot mention the word "roads dualization" and mention Chime nor Rochas with Obi in the same sentence. As difficult and embarrassing it is to state as the facts, Chime and Rochas transformed their states with roads dualization(ssssssssssssssssssssss) Zik's avenue dualization was COMPLETED by Obi. It was started waaaaaay before Obi came into office. As for the Park avenue and Harbour road, do you mind telling us if both roads combined were up to 2 km? |
Ogbomoso lol.... ![]() Why not Chibok as the 3rd most populous city in naija? ![]() |
FreeGlobe:Peter Obi never dualized any road in Anambra, but it is on record he connected many many communities with good roads. I don't think Obi failed no matter your yard stick for measurement. I think Obi was perhaps cautious to a fault. There are some projects Obi could have borrowed to do, with proper checks and balances put in place to make sure the project pays for itself. For example, Anambra could have guaranteed a loan for Orient to complete the refinery and then make sure a fixed percentage of the profit from sale of fuel go directly towards repaying the loan used in building the refinery. |
Schematics:If Orient builds this airport the way Shell built (Osubi) Warri and Escravos airports to facilitate operations, i'm all for it. It will help develop Anambra oil sector. But for the state government to sink deeper into foreign debt to do it, is clearly unreasonable. Unless you want to consider from the point of view that the governor is from Aguleri. However, you had earlier stated it will be a PPP project. So, we are all on the same level at that. |
Schematics:So you are expecting people from Idah, Kogi state to use Aguleri airport? ![]() So you would prefer another sinking of about N100 billion naira to build an airport instead of completing the refinery which would create thousands of good paying jobs and turn Anambra into a petro chemical industries mecca of West Africa?? What about building an IPP with the oil and gas from Anambra to support constant power availability in Onitsha- Nnewi industrial cluster? So the best way to develop Anambra is to build an airport with the available funds? |
Schematics:Chino nwa mama, @ the bolded, i am highly elated. We need dual carriage ways linking Onitsha and Awka to Anambra north. It is the final axis with enough land to build the Anambra of our dream that is well planned and wonderful cities. If this airport makes us to finally do the right thing, then so be it. You already know we have had this argument in the past and we both know each other's position already. So, i won't repeat ourselves again. |
Schematics:Bro Chino, All you have said is true.If the lies in Nigeria's census is corrected, Anambra truly has bigger population than Kano. But, that isn't my point. If resources were unlimited, we would say lets have anything we want. In the light of meager resources which has even got tighter with fall of oil price, we must choose wisely what is of utmost importance to our economic resurgence and not merely ego. Mind you, let me reiterate that; I AM NOT AGAINST AN AIRPORT for Onitsha, but built in AGULERI. Just that it makes no sense to build an airport in Aguleri with state funds, in the light of so many unmet pressing and basic developmental needs in the state. |
emmysoftyou:Anambra needs exactly all the projects being built such as refinery, Dual carriage way to the Refinery/airport site from Awka and Onitsha. The dual carriage way will open up the land in that area as a new frontier for development of modern cities to make the entire Anambra a true mega city. What I still seriously doubt its economic viability/wisdom is the use of state funds to build an airport in Aguleri now that there are international airports in Enugu and finally a domestic airport less than 5 kilometers from Onitsha main market at Asaba. We had all watched with horror how for many many years, the struggle to build an international airport at Oba to service Onitsha main market had been frustrated by many kingpins in Anambra power-play. To God be the glory, a State capital was placed next to Onitsha and immediately the focus of the struggle changed into urging the near by Delta state to put an airport in its capital city which had since broken the jinx of those who compromised Anambra government and swore no airport shall be 100 Kilometers close to Onitsha to protect their luxury bus business. It is easy to claim that Lufthansa, Turkish airline, British Airways, Delta airlines, Saudi Arabian airline or Malaysia airways will leave Port Harcourt or Accra where they are currently getting ATK aviation fuel to fly into Aguleri for same. We know how easy it had been for us to convince these foreign carriers to connect Enugu or even Asaba inspite of all the facilities in those airports for day and night flights. My real question is what if the international airlines still prefer to go to PH and Accra to get fuel after the Aguleri airport is built? What would then be the justification for spending billions to build the airport? Where in the world has billions been spent for an international airport to be built solely to sell fuel and not for passenger traffic? This is a serious issue in my opinion to build an airport just to sell fuel. Chino has already advised me that the airport shall be a PPP initiative of a private investor. In that case, it makes every sense for an individual to build it and manage it as his own personal investment than sinking billions of state money in such white elephant project. We should use that money for airports craze to build a light rail system that connects Ihiala/ Nnewi axis and Awka/Awkuzu axis directly to Onitsha main market. So that our people living in Awka or Ihiala can simply board a light train and go buy or sell at Onitsha main market and return to their city of residence without paying too much on transportation.Ethiopia borrowed to build and indeed just commissioned a 70 kilometers light rail system for $400 million dollars to connect towns around Addis Ababa. Even if we borrow to build such a project, it will easily pay for itself from the revenue which it will generate from cheaply and conveniently moving millions of people everyday into and out of Onitsha. |
Barrister Sullivan Chime Has no equal at all........ |
2tek:Amen!!! APC and their rag tag Boko Haram shall be put to shame in sha Allah!
|
pastorKosiso:Buhari is a very sick old dictator.
|
Mekateka:Exactly. As if we don't know all those northern politicians formed Boko Haram to kill southerners and christians in the north, until it got out of hand and started killing them too |
IbnSultaan:After Overthrowing the civilian regime of Alhaji Shehu Shagari, he now wants to be civilian President. |
egift:GEJ basterdized education by creating 9 new federal universities? How many did Buhari create? Even IBB and Abacha created universities but Buhari created NONE! |
SKYTREND:How did Buhari know? Because na Dem Dem. Buhari truly hired Shekau as the hitman to rubbish GEJ administration by killing innocent people. |

If Massob members don't want to vote, they should not disadvantage the SE voters by preventing them from voting. Massob has become a nuisance without any sound political strategy except to somehow disadvantage the SE. They did the same thing during the last census which Obasanjo used the opportunity to post ridiculously low figures for the SE zone. Which has robbed the zone of revenue allocation rightly due to her as a result. Massob has simply become an embarrassment to the SE. |
Looks like once our airforce fires one bullet, they fly back to base and invite newspapers to say they just had heavy bombardment of Boko Haram? Wetin be 4 rockets fired in a supposedly " 4 airstrikes?" Naija military eh, una sabi waste fuel. Abeg, just tell Chad where the Boko Haram are and long stories will end. |
You know, if i hadn't seen this confession of a former secret agent, i would think only moles in Nigerian army were interested in helping Boko Haram defeat the Nigerian military. This is truly an eye opener. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1mNgg8TtTM |
notobs:O'l boy, save your breath. Almajiri system is what Janjaweeeds want for Nigeria. As far as they are concerned, GEJ's development means nothing and is actually against Nigeriastan they'd like to create. |
RevDesmondJuju:If dem like, let them join alquaeda. They can only push this country so much before they trigger a real civil war which will divide the country. Then they can have every right in the world to declare their land Somaliland. Who cares as long as we close our borders and ban any form of trade with Somaliland. ![]() |
