If you read one of my previous post i talked about how the Indians are more structured in combining ideas in establishing tech companies, it must not be in silicon valley they are all over the 50 states.. Most Nigerians i have seen here from my experience hoard information cos they dont want you to be better than them, but the Indians have formed a formidable force in the IT sector, well organized people. They share information between themselves and with their combine effort and money they start up something brilliant with the initiator the CEO. You will not find one Indian person working in a warehouse or doing menial job except in a gas station which is owned by his brother or relation.

Mind you Indians are the richest immigrant in America, because of just one thing which is INFORMATION between themselves, so much so that they rarely borrow money in starting a tech company.

On the other hand Nigerians haven't gotten to that point yet because of our mentality, hoarding of information, "you must not be better than me in america" mentality. More so we are not organised like the Indians, and we have not created a niche for ourselves, we have a long way to go.. Right now some individuals who i have met are trying to create a niche in IT sector for Nigerians to compete with the Indians, its achievable but its gonna take a long time because of our attitude and mentality. I spoke on here about how my friend in IT security is trying to raise Nigerians to get into the field and i brought it up here but our Mentality will not let us see ahead.. I even mentioned how much he makes a year, i was labelled a liar. I am not giving up but will gladly train those who are willing to join the train to become a force to reckon with in the IT sector.

Update

You see, the place I work is a psychiatric facility (like I've said a million times) so na craze people full here. The place has 7 floors. Each floor has two general shower rooms, a dining area (with tv and dvd), a nursing station and some other rooms like the linen room (where they keep clothes), janitor closet (where they keep cleaning equipment) etc.
Floors 2, 3, and 4 tagged the "skilled floors"; 5, 6 and 7 are tagged the psych floors. The skilled floors require more work cos the residents on these floors pretty much cannot do anything for themselves, so you bath, clean, feed them. The psych floors are much more easier (for me) cos most times, all you have to do is supervise the floor and make sure they don't fight and kill each other, you pass linen, make sure the shower rooms are locked after use (a resident tried to drown herself sometime ago), check the rooms to make sure no one is smoking or doing funny stuff, pretty basic stuff.
The facility is also divided into different departments, Nursing (Nurses and Nursing assistants), cleaners (we call them housekeeping), cooks and food servers, security guards and the rest.

The nursing station is equipped with computers (for documenting the residents' day to day activities), a land-line telephone and a public address system which is connected to speakers on all floors (amongst other things). So if attention is needed on any of the floors, you speak into the public address system so as to alert all the floors.
The facility has different "codes" for different emergencies. Code blue for medical emergencies (cardiac arrest, choking etc), code yellow for staff attention on the floor when the residents are fighting, code red for fire outbreak and the rest. So instead of yelling "Mr James is having a heart attack!" into the public address system, you yell "code blue" so you would not cause panic amongst the residents. For the 6months + I've worked here, we've had countless code blues, code yellows but never a code red.

************

Picture one: food cart where the food trays are sent up in. The food trays come with the name, room number and type of diet each resident is supposed to eat. The diets for each resident differs, they range from puréed, regular, mechanical soft. You CANNOT give a resident that’s on puréed diet something else.

Picture two and three: soap and towels for the residents to take their showers

Hmmm....pretty standard

There we go again..Hyping so-call graduates unnecessarily..What has having self esteem got to do with being a graduate?A lot of people who are not graduates nor smell the four walls of a tertiary institution have self esteem and you cannot talk to them anyhow....I am sure you will be among those who look down on artisans, taxi drivers, roadside sellers or people who do not seem to be on the same level with you..

Oshisko..

Hey take it easy sir/ma
D part where I asked if he was a graduate has nothing to do with his self esteem
Of course a roadside seller might have high self esteem than a graduate who has a PhD in self esteem
I asked if he was a graduate cos of the way he writes, he's a very good writer.

I am not under obligation to serve anyone. I am risking my life enough at that time of the night. I choose who I will serve at that time of the night. I refuse to be stressed out by any client at 1:30 am.

Call me rude or arrogant, i follow my instincts first before any amount I am to be paid. I did not feel comfortable with how i was being spoken to condescendingly. I have rights as a driver. In options for cancellation, it is clearly stated as an option "I do not wish to serve this client". Mind you, i never replied the client. Everything I write is the way it plays in my head, and not how i say it. My own safety first.

Customer isnt always king. That phrase is wrong and should be totally rephrased. We are always encouraged to report rude riders. If they are kings and always right, no one would ask anyone to report them. That stupid phrase is the same reason a female rider could assault a driver at night and go scot free with it because she is a radio OAP and some people believed she is right. I dont have to accept rudeness in my line of duty because you think "customer is king". And yes, i can choose to reject a contract if I am insulted. And yes, i have once walked a man out of my car for being rude to me. I know my worth. It's far above any money to be collected at that time of the night.

Cheers

I really do love your self esteem

U must be a graduate?, if I'm right.

Dropped off a girl in lekki phase 1 Last night. Picked her up in ikoyi.... It was another girl that requested for her... in case you are wondering, wonder no more..... na dem grin I'm thinking threeso.. ......

She skinny like Khloe of Bbnaija.grin If she lies on the bed you could mistakenly sit on her head, because you wouldn't know she was there.... flat like cardboard.

This one here wants to play smart sha. She wan chop two at once by using delay tactics. Dropping her off at the suite she was coming to, and then another call comes in from maga2... on her Nokia phone set wey no dey die. That's one characteristics of the queens. They have one phone for Instagram slaying, and their hotline is usually a Nokia phone that the battery can last for 3 months on just one charge. grin They have to be online at all times, else, the success of the ministry would have taken a detrimental trajectory. grin

"I'm coming. I'm in lekki phase 1. I came to drop off something in my friends place.... once i leave I am coming. I will call you on my way".....

Aunty kemi.. . Shut up your dirty mouth..... which friend? What is the name of your friend? What are you dropping? Did you come to drop or you came to collect? She was jittery. Like someone who was against time. She needed to rush this one and go for the other one.... chai.

Her fare was 1700. She gave me 700. One 500 note, and 2 100 naira notes. The 100 naira notes were so dirty and damp that you could use them to catch fish in a river. She now said she wanted to do transfer. Asked my acct. I gave her..... "I've done it............ eish.... it did not go"..... Which transfer did not go? undecided Are you sleep talking? It's your transfer that will not go.... do it again. undecided She eventually had to call the girl that requested on her behalf to bring my balance.... Asking me ehn "can I go before you see the alert?" Uhn uhn.... as if your own company isn't money for hand, back for ground.......

Travel / Re: Diary Of A Nigerian Student living In Moscow, Russia. by Clefayomide: 7:21pm On Mar 25, 2018
TochiPhotos:
Back to my diary,

The cold has been brutal, sometimes I sneeze and instead of mucus, a little blood comes out from my nose. Only thing I hate about Moscow is the cold. My World Cup Project has been good, I’m really grateful to God the project took off really well even after all what happened on here. My partner and I were able to fill the slots through word of mouth and twitter.

School has also been good but stressful, I hate that no matter how cold it gets, someone cannot just miss class unless you have a doctors reporting showing that you are sick.

Dating someone from a different culture is not easy to be honest, and my relationship with B has not been a bed of roses. We have issues like in every relationship but I often feel that the things that usually cause our issues are usually trivial but she disagrees. All the problems we usually have in our relationship is always about me not spending enough time with her, jealousy and the most annoying one when is when she always gets jealous and angry when my female friends from school or the girls working on my project with me text me or take pictures together. Like if I’m showing her something on my phone and she scrolls up and sees a picture of me and any of my female friends or classmates she will get moody etc I tell her constantly that I do not want anything with those girls, they are just my classmates, friends and some we work on my project together, she knows some of them but still she still gets upset.. The biggest problem we have is her constant complain that I don’t visit her often. I’m usually busy on weekdays but on weekends I go to their house on Friday, then go to my dorm on Saturday evening and each time she tries to make me stay till Sunday but I tell her I have to do my assignments, go to Church, and work and she gets angry and say that I don’t care about her.

It’s not been easy mehn, we have our up and downs but each time we always try our best to understand the situation and make things work. It hasn’t been easy but to be honest I won’t trade our relationship for anything.

On February 14th Valentine’s day I took her on a dinner date, it was a memorable night. The dinner date was on a cruise ship aboard the RDN Royal Flotilla, and for 3 hours we cruised and sailed on the Moskva River, aboard the RDN Royal Flotilla. It was really a magically night, a night. Before we went to the dinner date, we exchanged gifts. I gave her flowers and bought her a jacket and she bought me some clothes, and a gift pack with men’s cream and some other stuff.
Then her dad drove us to our date. We wanted to take the metro to our date but her dad didn’t want us to walk in the cold to the metro and he drove us for over an hour to the city center for our date.

One good thing about Moscow is how inexpensive things and experiences are. The tickets for the cruise ship on the Moskva River were less than 5 thousand naira and I’m sure if it were in Lagos, it would cost more than 20k.
Moscow have so many memorable places and things you can visit for wonderful experiences most are free and the other fee paying ones are so inexpensive. Only thing I hate about Moscow is cold.

On the 23rd of February Men’s day in Russia. It is a day women celebrate the important men in their life. Women usually buy gifts for the men they love on this day and do things for the man. I didn’t know about this holiday till B told me to get ready and come to her that she’s taking me out. When I arrived she gave me some gifts she bought for me to celebrate men’s day. She bought me some clothes. It is customary for women to buy the men they love gifts on this day. Then we went to a bar in the city center and danced and drank and because it was men’s day she said we didn’t have to share the bills because it’s her treat for the man in her life. It felt really good, we danced and danced, and she said so many good things to me. We got drunk then went home late in the night and slept off, we didn’t wake up till Saturday afternoon with a heavy hangover lol.

Another important holiday in Russia is March 8th. Women’s day. This is one of the most important holidays in Russia and on this day women all over Russia are celebrated. March 8th is also a national holiday and men are expected to give the women they love flowers and gifts. It was a long holiday, the holiday was 2 days Thursday and Friday + the weekend so I went to B’s house to spend the holiday. I gave her a flower (A Tulip flower) it’s spring right now so it is the best flower to give. I also gave her a perfume then we went to out. The holiday was on Thursday and Friday so were all at home.
On Saturday the parents wanted all of us to do something together so they took us to the Aqua Park. The Aqua Park is big and it is indoors obviously cos of the cold lol. We went there in the morning and returned at night. There was so much to do, we played in the water slides, we went to the Sauna and had lunch and dinner their lol. I was the only black man their and so many kids were looking at me as if it were their first time to see a black man. It felt weird sha but I always smile at the kids. It was a really memorable day then the day drove us home and we had a large dinner then called it a night.
It was a really memorable day for those on my snap, I posted videos and pictures of the trips on my snapchat.

I have an exam in 2 weeks and I really hope it goes well. Also my special and wonderful friend S helped me find a Nigerian store where I can buy Nigerian food ingredients. She’s my best friend and most important friend I have, she calls me her son and is like a mom to me. She is an absolutely wonderful woman with the kindest heart, I will tell you guys about this my wonderful friend later. I went to the store and I bought yam, garri and pepper. I will buy egusi and cook when next I go there.
My Russian friends kept asking what yam is when I was cooking in the kitchen, apparently they don’t know what yam is lol. I cooked my Nigerian yam and ate with sauce and now I’m enjoying my ijebu garri with sugar and cold water.

And here a few pictures of the trips. 1st 2 pictures Valentines day (Moskva River) 3 and 4th With B (Aqua park) and with B's parents and B.

Take care guys, later!

Once again, I was stuck, I walkrd into the gas station and asked the attendant if he had jumper cables. He affirmed that but said he wouldn't lend it to me, that I had to buy it. I pleaded with the attendant, paddy no gree o. He started speaking Spanish and pretending he was on the phone.

I had to go sit in my car and wait and think about what I'd do. Called mumsy, but she had gone to work, so she didn't even pick up. I contemplated running to my house to get my jumper cables but it was too damn cold and I'd freeze to death before I even get home.

The only option I had was to call the police and that's what I did. The operator took my name, number, car description and location and asked me to wait, that they are sending a squad car to come help me out.

It was 12:10 am and the temperature was dropping really fast.
