Odunolumide: That 5billion will solve whatever crisis causing ASUU strike. Why start a new project when all the others are dying? They use universities to bring 'development ' in their communities of interest. Have few solid universities that can compete with others globally is better than numerous universities that may not even compete with private universities in the same country. |

rufai1440: Sir forget that list come to berger Lagos and see hundred trailer of cows coming in daily. No, you need to forget what you see wherever. In those countries, one man will be managing 200 cows in his farm. Yes, they don't move around parading their cows as the Fulani herdsmen do, but they have more cows than you think you have in Nigeria. Do you know in these countries people drink milk as you would drink water daily? Where do you think those milk come from? The way you see tankers transporting gasoline and diesel in Nigeria, is the same way those tankers transport milk daily in those countries. So please do not argue if you have not been to/read about other countries. Don't limit yourself to your environment. |

The only thing we have core competencies in is cow production , almajirin, corruption, banditry, terrorism, UGM, human rituals, wickedness, 419, nepotism, killings, injustice, and production of useless politicians in APC and PDP Remove cow, Nigeria is not even in the top 10.

Politics › June 12: What Are Your Plans? by Cmanforall(op): 3:28am On Jun 12, 2021 |
Today, being the 12th of June, what plans do you have?
Usually, democracy day, as it was celebrated in the past on the 29th of May, is usually marked with lots of activities including parades and sport events. With its shift to June 12th, this year may not be as exciting as 'Democracy day' should be. The insecurities all over Nigeria, makes one wonder if there should be celebration or better remembrance of innocent lives lost. Also, strict measures should be taken to address the security of the nation. There is also news of possible protests in some parts of the country
Will students/police etc. march today for the state governors (particularly those States making headlines insecurity)?

Business › Re: Naira devaluation: BDCs get dollars at ₦393, sell for N494 by Cmanforall: 3:52pm On May 29, 2021 |
Agbegbaorogboye: This is the main reason our naira has been tanking while they blame it on oil price. The BDC and other highly placed people in the admin have been getting free dollars from the CBN and selling at whatever rate they like. This leads to much pressure on the Naira as BDCs make mad profits. Plus, the fact BDCs are not into any productive activity in the economy. Sometimes I wonder what we need them for anyway. I'm sure if BDC was mainly run by southerners, Buhari would have banned them just as they did with rice and other imports and closed the borders. He know southerners are the majority in those areas, even fuel importation. Fact is, nepotism is the worst form of corruption!! It is easy to clamp the tate the BDC sell dollar. If all.banks should.make dillar available at 395 and sell to BDC at 390, the BDC will end up selling between 395 to 400. Presently, an individual with direct link to central bank can get dollar at 393 and sell to those in the parallel market at 450 to resell at 494. You can imagine how that 'big man' will be making millions daily with no sweat. The Nigerian economy suffers |

wpadmin: How many well qualified teacher that know their worth will teach in rural areas?
For 18-30k per month? That was why I suggested increasing the benefits of rural teachers. For ex, a rural teacher earning as high as a University lecturer (I suppose the pay is higher). |
NYSC › Re: NYSC Not A Waste Of Time, Says DG by Cmanforall: 9:06pm On May 26, 2021 |
Lazynigerian1: Which leads to states increasing taxes....especially as most states have poor IGR. (Nigeria's overall tax to gdp is 6.1%, which is less than Niger who is at 15% and Ghana who is 23%. At state level...most states fall between 1-3 %)
Plus, even then, people don't want to work in rural areas. Rural areas, even in developed countries have less modern facilities. compared to urban areas. Schools are not as good as urban areas, and so on....so with 'high salaries' people might not want to go rural. What do you mean by this? What makes a school good in your opinion? With well-qualified teachers, students in rural areas can excel, even more than those in urban cities. I personally know products of community schools that did excellently well in Uni, some also got scholarships abroad. So what again do you mean by the bolded? |
NYSC › Re: NYSC Not A Waste Of Time, Says DG by Cmanforall: 8:55pm On May 26, 2021 |
Lazynigerian1: Anybody saying NYSC is a waste of time should also find the doctors, nurses, and teachers that would run hospitals and schools in the rural areas.... Because if NYSC goes, there has to be a replacement, because people don't want to live in the village.
Modifed...Especially doctors and teachers. An NYSC doctor can be the only doc for miles around. Remove her or him...and people will sometimes have to carry their critically ill patient to the nearest hospital for miles.
As for teachers...I once read the writeup of one NYSC corper teacher. The school she was assigned to...all the teachers posted there immediately got themselves posted to the cities...leaving the school in the hands of NYSC corpers and a few die hard teachers. And this was a school in the South.
If we scrap NYSC...either we replace it with a system where doctors and teachers do one year rural service (countries like Nepal do that)...or we suffer serious crisis in our health and education sectors. Your view though. But if indigenous teachers/doctors are running from their State-owned schools/hospitals, why should young graduates suffer from the State's incompetence. If employed staff don't want to work in rural areas, then the state should make the salaries of those working there to be higher with more benefits. Or they find other means, not using young graduates. And please, do not compare Nigeria with Nepal. Has the country gotten to that stage? |
