That’s not what appeal to authority means.
bemeruca:
This does not make sense. No matter how you lie to yourself. Almost all countries in Africa are 3rd world countries. That's a fact.

The person you respond to use to appeal to authority that he lives in the US so by default he is better than those of us who lives in Nigeria and he is correct.

But that strategy never worked so for him.

You did a really good job. Scratch good son. More like excellent son 👍🏾
IjeBos:
Yeah, Christmas lights were a good competition. They tried. Our street tried.

Those garden boxes made me rethink that good son thing. grin
Had to cut down a tree(paid), build the boxes from scratch, then dig trenches to make the boxes level (met some roots), then had to have a truck of dirt delivered (2-3 cubic yards) and then haul the dirt into the boxes.

You’re a good son.

I love Christmas lights competition. The only competition I’ll gladly participate in
IjeBos:
They are good dudes (no illusions that they don't/didn't have racist views at one point). Good neighborhood.
Started with our grass, one neighbor was our cars, then who had the best snow blowers, then christmas lights, then tomatoes.
Lol.
Low key competition.

It brings my mom peace, though she overdoes it. She doesn't rest. I have to force her to chill out.
Had to build her some garden boxes and such to make it easier (sit while gardening).
And of course a special blend of organic soil.
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 3:16pm On Apr 28, 2025
Your mom is a real one. That’s my type of carrying on.

I used to gift my neighbors tomatoes and strawberries all summer.

I know your oyibo neighbors loved you. They love when people have the same hobbies as them cheesy
IjeBos:
Lol.
I started a battle with my two retired Oyibo neighbors over tomatoes. We were competing with who had the best tomatoes. So, got in the weeds with growing them, irrigation, soil composition, pruning. It was crazy. Eventually, I couldn't keep up, they were retired. Would love to grow more, but tradeoffs. Now, I Just grow some herbs I use (basil, cilantro, mint etc.)

But, Momsie grows enough of everything to feed her neighborhood . So between her and the neighbors, I always have tomatoes and other things.
The thing I would love to grow is squash. May find a corner to do them vertically this year.

This is beyond APC policies actually. Even in America, many men still struggle with the concept of evolving to do more than financial provision.

Capitalism thrives on greed and that greed has led to lesser income in relation to inflation as time goes by. That’s why one income is hardly enough for most households all over the world.

As the world has gradually adjusted to needing two incomes for sustenance, women have had to increasingly become equal or sometimes greater financial partners in their marriages. As women are evolving to adapt to this new world, men are staying behind in the older mindset that taking on more “feminine” roles is emasculating for them. It’s all over not just Nigeria although ours is on steroids.

ibechris:
Many ladies are already providing because the economy is already in shambles.

More men have been sacked or succinctly put,the economy have eroded peoples income and means of livelihood.

Courtesy of APC policies.

Yeah, they are. Each generation ends after Christmas and New Year. I have them mostly for eggs. So I tend not to consume the chickens much throughout the year.

By the end of the year, few are left and a new generation grows. That way I still get my daily eggs
I know they taste amazing. That’s one thing I hate about chicken here. Unless you buy from the African market or farms, anything from the store is tasteless. You have to put your elbow grease into the recipe to get it to be delicious

Where is this block button?

Oh golly, I found the block button! It completely blocks so you see no posts by blocked person unless quoted by others.

Unfortunately, I tested it on AmazonTopaz, as I planned to ask if she's informed I blocked her. And now she's blocked so I can't read any posts by AmazonTopaz unless quoted by others. And its currently permanent as there is no option yet to unblock AmazonTopaz.

Seun! Temporary blocks please so I can unblock AmazonTopaz!

That's my Tomatoes, I gave up real quick and focus on the chickens.

Plantains are a love. You never have problems with plantain
Happy little chickens. Are they both for eggs and meat?

Yep plantains and bananas take care of them. Just have space for them to spread because they’ll keep spreading. And perfect in tropical areas

This is good. I stopped planting anything with fruits like tomatoes because squirrel and bunnies will feast on them, they even ate Habaneros. So just spinach Kale collard etc now
I put out a bird feeder and the birds share it with the squirrels. If you are able to plant sunflowers (away from your regular crops because they repel the growth of other vegetables) you can distract the scavengers from your precious plants. The sunflower seeds make the animals happy.

I also put out mushy strawberries in the perimeters of my garden. Low hanging fruit so the lil thieves stay away 🤣

IjeBos slander shall not be tolerated. Find another angle pls.

I love chicken farming. I’m looking into as well. Well done 👍🏾

As for tomatoes mini or makeshift green house and grow lights are your friends. Tomatoes are very sensitive to temperature until they’re sturdy enough for transplanting. When transplanted have everything set to timed auto watering. As soon as they make it past the sensitive stage, you’ll have tomatoes for months. The more you harvest the more they come back.

Same with okra and green peas. As soon as you harvest, in couple days you’ll start seeing new buds from where you just harvested. So it’s worth the trouble. Happy planting! 🙂

bemeruca:
Sadly our resident idiot will call this poor man's life because you are growing your own food 🤣 I spent months trying to educate IjeBos how it is perfect okay to grow your own food even if your are Mark Zuckerberg.

I have a chicken farm in my land the idiot screams poverty 😂

Tomatoes needs lots of care to grow.

I know how to grow most things you’d need in your kitchen.

Green peas, okra, strawberries, spinach, green beans, peppers, tomatoes, onions, garlic, lettuce etc.

Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 12:40pm On Apr 28, 2025
40 percent of cargo ships leaving China to the USA left with empty containers. Empty shelves coming to Americans in covid 19 style. So stock up now if you can. But pls don’t panic buy things you don’t need.

Just buy things that can last at room temperature for a long time. Rice and beans (this is complete fiber, carbs and protein). Canned foods. Healthy shelf stable beverages. Don’t do that Covid style of hoarding with hopes of price hiking and reselling to your fellow poor Americans.

Just buy stuff to last about a couple months if possible. Put seeds in the ground now if you have a backyard or space for containers. I could do some gardening tips if anyone is interested. I have green thumbs. Before I left California I grew everything. Radishes, carrots, turnips, tomatoes, peppers, okra, all kinds of herbs
I loved gardening and if anyone has questions I can answer them in a different thread.

But don’t let your family go hungry because of the tariffs. Love y’all 😘😘😘
