I think that programming is not very popular among Nigerians. I have seen a few topics here hit the frontpage, but the response is nothing compared to a thread from the politics section.

You are right about moderators sha. We need more expert inputs here.

seconded. I've always wanted to make a similar post about how dry this section of d forum is. Likewise there are many features i expect to see on NL as a whole, like comment rating(like it's done on disqus) so d comment with d highest rating appears first, user reputation(like it's done on Stackoverflow), mentions(like it's done on twitter), likewise the UI should be revamped, cos this present one really sucks and looks so 2005ish. Look at forums like quora, laracasts and co. even though they were established years after NL, they look so beautiful and have a lot of cool functionalities. I don't know what all these guys are doing with core i7 systems at otta (abeg make una no ban me oh!)

I believe that nairaland can be like a google if they really improve this site and their apps.

Back to d topic. I think the mods should be creating things like weekly quiz based on different jurisdictions(programming, DB, networking, etc) and for different levels(beginner, intermediate, advanced).
Likewise good and beneficial articles should be created(or posted from other notable ) on different topics.

pharmacies,supermarkets, etc shud b able to run on generic software. Software with an inventory module, an accounting module , a report module (for generating graphs and reports, and/or a sms email subsection +.e a feedback module.

Theyre supermarket/inventory software vendors around. A chat with one of them shud b able to get you wat u need.

No, I cannot wait. The sooner I start using the software the better it is for the pharmacy. I had initially wanted to write the code myself, to suit my needs and maybe even add flavours one will not get in other similar programme. But that's going to take some time and that's not something I have right now.
@open source software: I tried those as well, but most of the available ones aren't suitable for the typical Nigerian pharmacy. And strictly speaking, it's going to be a miracle getting it free. Not that I don't intend to pay for it, what I am after now is to know about the options that I have (if any).
@How much are you willing to pay?: the software capabilities, features and flavours drive the price and not so much the other way round.

NL uses like because it has seen d experiment get tested by other social media .
Seun, cant use dislike because he doesnt know how it will fare and doesnt want to try it out ,experimentally.
If twitter,fb others had used it with success, seun wudve quickly copied d concept.
