COMPAQ: Well I don't know if that is true or the dynamics behind why that is, even if true, but let me just ask you some questions:
Are roads in Ghana as bad as in Nigeria? Are taxes on Ghana as high and as many as Nigeria? Are omonile and touts as many in Ghana as nigeria Is electricity as bad in Ghana as nigeria
If all those things are better in Nigeria then Ghana, then maybe you can complain. I hope Ghana banned imports of cement to protect Dangote too. His other businesses making profits, I hope they exist in spiritual Nigerian realm and not in physical. |

SmartPolician: Why don't the E&P majors in Nigeria have their own refineries? Even if it's a modular refinery. Shell has refineries in the US and Canada, why not Nigeria?
Apart from Shell, IOCs like Barker Hughes, Agip, Texaco and Chevron should have refineries in Nigeria. How can these companies watch Nigeria import refined products and not set up their refineries here?
What's wrong with this country? These guys shouldn't just be extracting crude oil and exporting it. Everyone shouldn't be thoughtless in this country! you don't force investors against their principle and convictions. |

Ozommadu: Tinubu and buhari destroyed Nigeria
Imagine same people that supported buhari in his 8 wasted years are now cheering tinubu?...e no go better for them a case like this happened between bauchi and plateau. The bauchi govt only intervened after he lost two sons to accident on that bad spot. This is not an APC issue. Govs have security votes they play with and any of Obaseki or Sheriff can fix that road in 24hrs without the state purse ever feeling it. Our problem is after getting power via politicking, we keep politicking to dodge issues. |

clearcrystal: Dangote is one of our major problem in Nigeria. Can we just allow market to ship in cement? Dangote is holding us to ransom, he dictates the price of cement and others follow his dictate. he was selected to have a rare privilege under OBJ but has become a monopoly monster and is threatening to milk Nigerians badly. |
Business › Re: Nigerians Lash Out At Aliko Dangote Over Reported “exorbitant” Cement Price by CodeTemplar: 10:01am On Aug 26, 2023 |
9jahotblog: Dangote is a clueless monopolistic Nigeria politician and businessman too he is not a devil but a lucky and greedy man. Nigeria needed local production badly under OBJ. That local production had to be in the hands of a Nigerian who has no other home to repatriate profit to thereby bleeding the economy. Dangote and few others were selected for this privilege but Dangote emerged the most successful among them all. Though a greedy artificial billionaire, he is better than most foreign investors. |

Racoon: Meanwhile the government zombies are still dishing out statistical indices far from reality in their characteristics lies and propaganda trademarks. let's ask ourselves some thoughtful questions. Is the north the only one deserving of textile factories and must it be govt funded if it want to go to one part of the country. Textiles these days aren't necessarily from cotton but also from synthetic materials which is abundant in the south. Anytime a thing favour a certain region they want govt to fund it at the expense of others. Same reasoning took refinery to Kaduna and when the south frustrated crude flow to Kaduna, they crippled NNPC into an Hausa private business. I am afraid the cycle may continue with emerging private refineries. |

grandstar: The problem really atarted from OBJ who waa sold the idea of banning cement imports in the belief that the country could be self sufficient in it. He never saw he was simply satisfying someone's greed.
Cement isn't the kind of product you bamn as it#s the price is very sensitive to transport cost. A lot of imported cement might become uncompetitive once transported far from the ports.
That's why cement plants are located close to limestone deposits. obj offered more than one person the leeway into local cement production and cannot be blamed for lack of competition in cement pricing. Generally Nigerians are good at price inflation practices. |
