No sir, there is a loud and visible cohort of Obidients that operates pretty much like a mob.
In both thought and deed, their raison d'etre appears to be stifling debate, cancelling others, and group-think which promotes the 'cult of personality'.

In my view, now is the time for reasonable Obidients to speak up and condemn the extremists in their midst.
Of course the same advice also goes to some agents of the ruling party who are wired not to tolerate dissent angry
...hardwired never to tolerate dissent.. They exist on all sides but have penetrated the two biggest parties most hitherto due the prospect of financial returns they present them. Obidient was purely about their tribal man running on the Labour Party platform. LP used to have Mimiko as Ondo governor if I recall correctly.

Nothing like great school haba only 11 out of 7769. It's either the students are lazy which is unlikely or the lecturers are wicked.
I was only playing with those people o. They left actual transfer and growth of knowledge to focus on grade game.

What standard? I doubt Unical is among the top 20 Universities in Nigeria. It’s either their lecturers are sadists or the students are lazy. Even there are some departments in the University of Ibadan that churn out more than 10 first-class graduates every session. Life is not that hard.
don't mind my tongue in cheek response to their mumu. They are tying to make us believe performers at jamb/utme stage are suddenly average students by their own doing.

Can you just imagine how the moral fabric of this country has been turn to shreds? People no longer have conscience. Not jut people but youths. All in motivation of driving "benz". Next thing folks will wish to "tap from their grace"
I almost wept when that boy said he was about to take his life and the blackmailer asked him what he was waiting for.
Omo, once these young men are found guilty, I suggest rather than wasting time feeding them in jail, a firing squad shoukd be set up. If they cannot do it, they should bring them back to naija and fire them at bar beach as was done in the 70s and 80s that should serve as a deterrent to criminal youths.
They should be seen as replenishment for mother earth and reconcilable spirit.

Three fools with no significant contribution to production of goods and services globally, eliminated a contributor to global welfare of mankind and in the process provoked the wrath of the one who rules over the affairs of men. They should do hard labour in their jail time.

While I agree with you that our government has disappointed us on the social investments programs, we can't because of that keep fuel subsidy.
Subsidy still benefitting the masses by around 60% can go, but corruption that's leaving less than 10% of input behind can stay according to your submission.

Well, let me break it down for you. Only people benefitting or are inline to benefit from other forms of corruption will push for subsidy to be removed like your are doing and be channelled into other more corrupt aspects of the system without any real attempt at killing corruption totally.
I reject subsidy removal.

Yes. It brought in competition and stopped smuggling. O sure, it has helped.
Did it eliminate the wastage of the money saved via inflated contracts or outright stealing?
Before you hurry to answer the above question, do a brief research about SURE-P goals and how they turned out.

I get your point. But it's removal will stop virtually all the associated problems immediately (diesel is an example). We can then bring in subsidy in a way that is more effective and targeted.
We will also generate growth and attract more private sector investments (both foreign and local direct investment), increase productivity, generate employment and fund critical infrastructures better.
has removal of diesel subsidy for example stopped other forms of corruption affecting the fund saved from it(diesel subsidy removal) ?
The obvious answer is NO and it will same for petrol also. The only solution is to confront the monster called corruption. No removal of subsidy can do that. That argument about removal of subsidy solving problems is by corrupt politicians and their agents looking for new sources of fund the easy way to run our confused structure of government for some years before things crashes. They want to sustain the free inflow of easy money they are so used to looting instead of stop what is being looted.

Once subsidy is removed, we can then use the surplus (?) generated to provide subsidy to targeted vulnerable Nigerians and achieve better impact.
Lol...subsidy removal cannot stop corruption. It is the other way round.

But subsidy removal will neutralize the fulcrum of fuel fraud. This fraud do not stop at import padding, it also includes smuggling into neighboring countries. In other words, Nigeria currently also subsidizes almost the entire West Africa.
Once subsidy is removed, we can then use the surplus (?) generated to fund the targeted vulnerable Nigerians and achieve better impact.
If border closure against food inflow was effective, it shows subsidy outflow across border can be enforced also. Corruption is fought in other places and not accumulated.

Nah we can get more tax ..but tax would divide Nigeria fast fast
tax is of negligible significance here as long as corruption remains rampant. Even if we quadruple taxes and income, corruption is very capable of eating whatever gain that brings to the table. Subsidy shouldn't be condemned because we have refused to fight what is affecting it, corruption.

Nigerians get more far more in return per unit tax than those countries u mentioned

Most top cities in the world would collapse under Nigerian budget
Nigerian budget is a function of Nigerian structure which is unique in the whole world.

Our structure encourages corruption and when corruption affects subsidy, we allow people looking to control us via fiscal dependence to suggest we eliminate subsidy instead of corruption to a barest minimum.

The combination of thread title and details is a curse or blessing depending on how you see it.

This remind of when Jesus cursed that fruitless tree. Looking at the price of gas currently, that act sounds like a firewood miracle and not a curse, but since the scripture cannot be broken or changed I accept it as a curse to the fruitless tree.

mrvitalis:
What's the average tax paid by average persons in those countries compare that to Nigeria
you have a good but incomplete point.
The tax paid, though higher compared to ours, are effective there because they are far less prone to corruption and thus available as subsidy. It means the rich who make so much money they may never spend get to share substantial part of their excess with the not so rich.
Ours is largely resource based thus making tax compliance rate of lesser significance. The point is a nation telling you to scrap something is maintaining same thing in greater extent. Subsidy is not bad for them because corruption rate is lower, allowing subsidies to reach its intended target.
